Red's nightmare

"Red."

"Doll-chan."

Red's eyes fluttered open, she stiffled a yawn as she sat up. She wasn't in the gardens anymore, she was in a very spacious car. She looked around to find five of the brothers, looking at her with a small smile. Except for Reiji, he merely glanced at her with dagger sharp eyes before returning to his book.

"Where are we going?" Red asks, looking out the window.

"Night school." Subaru answered simply.

"School?"

"Where we learn."

"Yay! I want to learn!" Red smiled happily, earning her a look from Reiji.

"Not tonight, Laito is gonna look after you. Tommorrow we'll have some books for you. Then Ayato and Laito will be teaching you."

"But I don't know how to read."

"We'll figure that out later."

Red sat in between Laito and Kanato, she stiffled another yawn before lying her head down on Kanato's lap. Letting him stroke her hair as she began to doze off again.

Through her blurry, sleepy vision she found Reiji, studying her carefully. She found it a little strange, but she gave him a sleepy smile before falling completely asleep.

Red silently swayed to the haunting melody, twirling on her toes, she followed the music. The dark melody practically had her in a trance, dressed in a stainless pure white dress, not knowing where she was.

She was glowing, a small lantern in a abyss of darkness. The shadows around her clawed hungrily at her light but retreated as if they were burned.

Follow sweet children, I'll show thee the way, through all the pain and the sorrows.Weep not poor children, all life is this way. Murder and beauty and passion~

Red opened her eyes, not very far from her was a man. The shadows seemed to emit from him, wrapping around him like he was their master. His voice was hypnotizing, but his face was unseeable. However she did see streaks of color in his black hair and a smile.

Hush now dear children, it must be this way. Too weary of life and deceptions.Rest now my children, for soon we'll away, into the calm and the quiet~

The man held out a hand, Red drew closer. It was like she was drugged, she looked so very sleepy and enchanted.

The man held out his hand and bowed. Red reached out to take his hand, her bright white light dimming incredibly as her hand got closer to touching his. The shadows around her drew closer, threatening to grab her.

"Red."

She froze, the man frowned. Red took her hand away, her light brightening once more, making the shadows retreat. Her eyes opened completely, the sleepy drugged look vanished from her face. She turned and looked behind her.

"Kanato-kun?" she says.

"Doll-chan."

"Laito-kun?"

"Red, come." the melodic voice of the man called to her.

Red looked to him, "But... They're looking for me." she says.

"No, they're not. Come with me."

Hearing the voice of the man again almost made her entranced again.

"Kid."

"Red."

Red looked behind her again, "Subaru? Shu?"

"Red, come on, we have to go."

"That's Ayato-san!" Red quickly turned back to the man and bowed, "I'm sorry, I have to go!" she says, before running off in the opposite direction.

"WAIT." the man demanded.

He grabbed her arm and tried to yank her back. Red was now scared of him, she screamed, "STOP IT. LET GO!!" and for a brief second, she glowed brighter and the man's own shadows snapped at him. Making him let go and take a few steps back. When red looked, his hand was burnt raw red, and for a second his shadows seemed to hiss at him before going back to normal.

"I'm.... Sorry... I don't know how..." Red struggled to find words.

The man looked at her astonished.

"Wake up you insolent child."

"Uh oh. Reiji is going to be mad." Red started to run again towards the familiar voices of the 6 brothers.

Red's eyes shot open, fully awake. She sat up quickly and looked at her surroundings, half expecting to see shadows threatening to swallow her. Instead she saw herself surrounded by her favorite brothers. She smiled in relief.

"Red, your arm. What happened?" Reiji's pink eyes stared intently at red. No worry was heard in his voice, no emotion at all.

Red looked to her right arm to see a large handprint beginning to bruise.

"The man... Grabbed me." she says.

Reiji raised an eyebrow at her and was about to question her further but the bell had rung.

The others went to their classes, and Laito stayed with Red. They wandered the halls, just talking.

"Red, why were you on the streets?" Laito asked.

"The lady at the orphanage was really nice, and she didn't care that my eyes were like this. Even the other kids became my friends. But a year later she died, and the new lady was so mean. She threw me out."

They then wandered the halls in silence for a few minutes. Laito began to talk about a random subject and then when Red didn't answer, he turned around to find her gone!------

Red ran excitedly down the hall, hearing rock music pounding in her ears. She burst through the doors at the end of the hallway just as the song finished to find...
