Chapter Ten: Battle

22:30, 27 June 2017

Samantha was shoved into Jack's arms roughly by the pair of pirates who escorted her to the cell. Jack quickly wrapped his arms around her as the pirates slammed the door shut and left.

"Are you okay?" Jack asked Samantha softly as he led her to the far side of the cell. Samantha nodded back as she sloshed across the floor. "There's a leak." Jack informed as he peered out an eye sized hole.

"Can I see?" Samantha asked softly. Jack stepped aside, allowing her to peer out of the small hole, she was confused when she saw barrels and supplies floating in the ocean. "I hope they aren't throwing away weapons because that will never work. Not with the oars." Samantha muttered.

"I saw a box I know to contain gun powder floating by." Informed Jack as he leaned next to her. "Gah!" She huffed.

The ship suddenly jerked to the port side, sending Jack and Samantha painfully into the cell door.

"Are you okay?" Jack asked as he scrambled to his feet and moved to help Samantha. "Aye, it's jus a bruise." She comfirmed with a nod.

Just then, the loud, ear-splitting noise of cannon and gun fire errupted in the air with shouts from each ship. A blast went straight into Jack and Samantha's cell, sending silverware and other miscellaneous items everywhere.

Jack moved to the new hole angrily. "Stop blowing holes in my ship!" He shouted "Jack!" Samantha snapped. "What!" He growled back. "Look." She stated and pushed the cell door open. "Oh." Jack hummed as the pair moved to leave the cell.

The pair made their way out on deck, dodging pirates as they scrambled about the deck. Samantha shoved a pirate over board as Jack grabbed a rope from another.

"Come on!" He shouted at Samantha. Samantha ran towards Jack, wrapping her arms around his neck tightly. Sharply, Jack pushed away from the deck swinging twice before landing on the Interceotor's deck.

"Jack! Samantha!" Gibbs shouted in glee. Samantha nodded with a smile before rushing off to fight, stealing a cutlass from one of Barbossa's pirates.

Samantha had just run through one pirate when she swung about and placed a fatal blow to another, shoving him off the deck. Luckily, it happened to be the pirate going after Elizabeth.

"Elizabeth!" Samantha cheered as she helped her up. Jack came over, sparing a quick glance towards Samantha to be sure she was relatively unharmed. "Where's the medallion?"Samantha and Jack had there attention on Elizabeth. "Wretch!" Elizabeth yelled, moving to slap Jack.

Samantha moved before she could think, grabbing Elizabeth's wrist and examining her attended to hand. Jack and Samantha shared a wordless glance, nodding as they did. "Ahh. Where’s dear William?" Jack asked with a smile.

With wide eyes and Will's name on her lips, Elizabeth raced off towards the grated cover of the haul.

Samantha had her cutlass raised and ready when, Jack pulled her hand and started running towards a downed beam. "Monkey!"

"What?" Cried Samantha as she scrambled across the beam. Her questioned was answered when she looked up and saw the Monkey handing Barbossa the medallion. "Oh."

"Thank you Jack." He stated as the Monkey sat on his shoulder. "Your welcome." Jack mumbled half heartedly. "Not you. We named the monkey Jack ." Barbossa clarified with a grin. He turned slightly to address the crew. "Gents, our hope is restored!"

Barbossa had two crew members pull Jack away as he himself helped Samantha stand up. "Barbossa, ye still don't know whose blood ye need." Samantha reminded. "I'm about to find out." The Captain grinned slyly as he pulled her with him so that she was at his side while the Interceotor's crew was escorted onto the Pearl.

One by one, everyone was on deck. Everyone but William Turner.

Samantha couldn't help but chuckle a little bit at that. Captain Barbossa and his fearsome crew of miscreants could sink the fastest ship in the Caribbean and capture her crew but couldn't catch a simple blacksmith. It was rather ironic in the truth of it. Then Samantha realized that if Will wasn't on deck, then he was either residing at the bottom of the ocean or on the quickly sinking Interceptor.

"Barbossa, you don't really need to keep all the crew prisoner, release them on a long boat." Samantha pleaded. "At least Elizabeth, if you keep her on board you would endanger the entire crew, by letting her go, the navy won't continue to chase you." "Yes well, I think you know as well as I that the Navy doesn't stand a chance at catching us." Barbossa argued. "You wouldn't want to waste supplies on prisoners, just send them out, with the amount of them there they'll surely reach land soon." Samantha reasoned slowly. "Who said anything about wasting supplies?" Barbossa asked slyly. "You're horrible." Samantha grumbled as she crossed her arms. "Aye missy." The Captain agreed with a smirk.

"If my father-" "Your father isn't here though is he? In fact, I believe he resides on another ship, the Flying Dutchman perhaps?" Barbossa reminded, his tone sharp with annoyance. "How dare you!" Samantha growled as she moved forward, anger seeping from every pore in her body. "Lock her in my quarters. She be familiar with them from Jack's time." Barbossa taunted, letting Samantha's complaints fade off. "You won't be hearin the end of this. That lass is rather good at getting what she wants." Jack spoke up from where he stood. "I'll keep that in mind." Barbossa remarked with an eyeroll.

Samantha sighed as she glanced around the familiar room. "It really hasn't changed much." She mused as she trailed her fingers across the fine wooden desk. She moved towards the bed, grand in every aspect of it, from the deep dark wood that was intricately carved to the soft silken sheets and the drapes that decorate it blood red.

The windows behind the desk let the light of day filter into the room, creating a warm and lively glow about the room. If it wasn't for the dark black that the wood was stained when Davy Jones raised the ship from the depths she could have sworn Jack would saunter in the room in full uniform.

There was quite a commotion on deck, but Samantha chose to not worry about it as she couldn't do much about it. Slowly, the sound died down, Samantha felt the ship start to move again and she knew they were sailing again.

The door opened, drawing Samantha's attention to Barbossa as he entered.

"It's funny, a Pirate Lord betrayin' the code." Samantha muttered angrily as she crossed her arms. "You're making me rethink how honored I should be to meet you." Barbossa growled as he sat behind his desk. "Me dad said I was rather good at that." Samantha agreed with a smile as she took a seat across from him.

"Yer dad is a fine Pirate." Barbossa commented, his tone somber. "Aye, he was. A good man as well. Until he betrayed her. Then again, most of the brethren were good people. Except Johnny, I hated Johnny." Samantha reminisced with a smile. "From what I hear you be a good pirate as well." Barbossa continued, watching her closely."I know a thing or two. Learned a lot over the years, lord knows I've had plenty of years." She grumbled softly.

"How did yer father manage that?" Barbossa enquired. "How does most things come to pass? He made a deal with Tia Dalma. In return for his service to her." Samantha recalled. "And yer deal with her?" Barbossa continued. "That, was on terms I will not name." Samantha gaurded as she watched Barbossa through cold eyes.

Barbossa mearly nodded as he stood. With a parting pat on her shoulder Barbossa left Samantha alone with her thoughts.

"Oh dad, I wish you were here." She lamented. "I could use one of your witty teachings right about now." She finished with a huff befire moving to the round table. Picking up one of it's apples, she took a deep bite, enjoying its rich taste.

"How is it Jack is always right?"
