Chapter Nine: Deal or No Deal

22:25, 27 June 2017

Samantha slowly sits up from where she had laid in the dark sand. She glanced around the dimly lit cavren to find no sign of Will. Jack was passed out next to her, face down in the sand.

"Jack." Samantha nudged the pirate. "Jack." She hissed as voices started getting slightly louder."What?" Grumbled Jack as he slowly sat up. "We have to go before Barbossa and the crew find us." She whispered, slowly getting up with the help of the cave wall.

Jack nodded and moved to get up, only to fall down. "Idiot." Samantha mumbled. With the help of Samantha and the additional support of Will's forgotten oar, Jack was standing semi-up right.

Together, the pair made their way slowly out of the tunnel and towards the stream.

It was then that Samantha realized that nothing was easy with Jack Sparrow.

"You two!" Ragetti shouts at the pair, attracting the crews attention. "You’re supposed to be dead!" Pintel oh so smartly adds as he sees Jack."Am I not?" The Pirate asks as he looks down at himself.

Samantha rolled her eyes and stared at her companion in disbelief. "Really Jack?""What? Young Will has quite a swing, it is a completely reasonable question." "You are unbelievable." Samantha muttered. "No one asked you." "Jack, you are a Pirate Lord and that's the best you've got?" "Yes- oh." Jack paused as he came to face a collection of guns in his face.

"Oh. Uh, here take him!" Samantha exclaimed with a charming smile as she tried to shove Jack towards them. "She's prettier." "He probably has rum." "Smarter." "Turner." "Mermaid." "Brethren Court.""Davy Jones."

One of the Pirates cocked back his hammer, shutting the bickering pair up.

"Palulay…palu-li-la-la-lulu, parlili… parsnip, pasley, par -  partner, partner…" Jack stutters as he thinks over the Pirates Code. "Really, with your family history and you don't know what it is?" Samantha grumbles as she crossed her arms."Parley?" Ragetti offers helpfully. "Parley! That’s the one. Parley! Parley!" Jack cheerfully shouted.

The undead crew glared at Ragetti while Jack celebrated.

"Parley? Down to the depths whatever man thought up Parley." Pintel grumbled angrily. "That would be the French." Jack whispers. "Bartholomew and Morgan. Bartholomew died at sea, Morgan died of an illness and is buried in Port Royal." Samantha answered as well, causing Jack to smack her head. "Ow!" Samantha whimpered. "What part of 'don't draw attention' did you not understand when Teague told you?" Jack growled. "Sorry."

"Shut it you two." Pintel snapped as they made their way to Barbossa.

Samantha found herself standing slightly behind Barbossa as he questioned Jack.

"How the blazes did you get off that island?" The man asked incredulously. "Don't boost his confidence-" Samantha started to complain until Jack cut her off. "When you marooned me on that godforsaken spit of land, you forgot one very important thing, mate. I'm Captain Jack Sparrow." Jack explained with a lazy smile."And there he goes." Samantha grumbled.

"Ah, well, I won’t be making that mistake again." Barbossa assured with a sly grin, he turned to bis crew as he gripped Samantha. "Gents, you all remember Captain Jack Sparrow? Kill him."

Barbossa started walking away, softly tugging Samantha with him. "Barbossa I demand that you stop this immediately."

"The girl's blood didn't work did it?" Jack called out. This caused Barbossa to pull up short. "Hold your fire." He ordered sharply. "You know whose blood we need?" Jack simply smiled and winked at Samantha flirtatiously. "I know whose blood ye need."

Barbossa huffed angrily and dragged Samantha with him, angrily motioning to the crew to bring Jack with. "Is he always like this?" Grumbled Barbossa. "I found that he's been worse since the marooning." Samantha mused happily. "Gah!" The man growled and sped up.

Back on the Black Pearl, Samantha felt reminiscent of times before it was known as the Black Pearl and when it was simply the Wicked Wench, Captain Jack Teague's ship that often carried the mysterious tanned woman on board from time to time.

The cabin had changed but there were still bits and pieces of Jack's old quarters that she could see. A small scrape along the door frame from a sword fight shared between the two being a notable aspect.

"So you expect to leave me standing on some beach with nothing but a name and your word it’s the one I need and watch you sail away in my ship?" Barbossa clarified with Jack with narrowed eyes. "No. I expect to leave you standing on some beach with absolutely no name at all, watching me sail away on my ship and then I’ll shout the name back to you. Savvy?" Jack rephrased.

"Technically Barbossa did rightfully steal it from you." Samantha added. "My ship first." Jack rebuffed. "I warned you that renaming her was bad luck." She grumbled. "So is having a woman on board." "Jack Sparrow!"

Barbossa rolled his eyes at the pair, sending his monkey a glance that caused it squeak loudly. Startled by the sound, both Samantha and Jack stopped talking.

"That still leaves us with the problem of me standing on some beach with naught but a name and your word it’s the one I need." Barbossa spoke up, reeling back in the conversation.

Jack considered his point as he drew out a chair and took a seat in it. "Of the two of us, I am the only one who hasn't committed mutiny, therefore my word is the one we'll be trusting." Jack then smiled slyly. "Although," he started, "I suppose I should be thanking you because, in fact, if you hadn’t betrayed me and left me to die, I would have an equal share in that curse, same as you."

The crunch of the flesh of an apple between his teeth was deafening in the silent room as Jack reveled in sadistic satisfaction, Barbossa stewed in barely contained anger, and Samantha stared between the pair with wide eyes. "Funny ol world innit?" Jack asked as he

"Pirates these days have so little respect for their fellow pirates. In me da's day, the Brethren Court listened to each other and respected each others individual status that demanded respect. You lot are so disappointing." Samantha pointed out.

"It be our court that protect ye, I wouldn't so soon make such claims against it." Barbossa reminded the girl. "Mm, aye." Jack agreed, continuing to rub the apple's deliciousness in Barbossa's face.

the door flew open, causing Samantha, Jack, and Barbossa to look up in shock. "Captain, we’re coming up on the Interceptor." One of Barbossa's men informed.

Barbossa strode from the room, leaving Samantha and Jack behind though with the expectation that they would follow. After a shared look, the two followed after Barbossa.

Barbossa stood at the ships rail, looking through his spy glass at the Interceptor when Jack strode up to him. With hands flailing about, the strange captain began to speak. "I’m having a thought here, Barbossa. What say we run up a flag of truce? I scurry over to the Interceptor, and I negotiate the return of your medallion, eh? What say you to that?"

Samantha hopefully smiled at Barbossa who smiled at each of them then shook his head. "Now you see, Jack , that’s exactly the attitude that lost you the Pearl. People are easy to search when they’re dead." Barbossa explained. "Lock him in the brig." He commanded sharply, two of his crew coming forward to do just that.

"Barbossa, I must protest. Miss Elizabeth Swann, the daughter of the Governor of Port Royal is residing on that ship, if you blow it out of the water you will have the entirety of the Royal Navy out looking for you. The ship may be fast but she can't out gun an entire armada of ships nor can she run if she is surrounded." Samantha argued.

The captain of the Pearl leered down at her. "I be the Cap'n so I'll be makin' the rules. Jus like this one." Barbossa snarled. "Lock her with Jack!" He ordered, laughing as Samantha was dragged away under protest.
