Chapter 37

( A/n: Dragon Flower Part 1. Btw, this episode changed a bit, due to Onyx being a dragon healer )

It was another morning on Berk. Meryl, Onyx, and their dragons watched as vikings were rushing to the docks. Onyx was holding a bag of some of his herb jars.

Onyx: Uh... Should we...?

Meryl: Come on, let's see what's got the vikings so excited.

They then went to the docks and saw that the dragon riders and the Vikings were looking at some stuff that was on a Trader boat, they also saw Stoick fly off on his dragon, who that Meryl and Onyx knew that was now named Thornado, and the Trader watched in awe. Onyx and Meryl walked onto the boat with curiosity.

Trader Johann: Ah, men riding dragons. What a magnificent sight- ( sees Meryl and Onyx ) Do my eyes deceive me, or do I see two new faces, and one of them may be the tallest teenager I have ever seen.

Onyx: ( whispers, to Meryl: ) Am I really that taller than everyone else?

Meryl: Well, you are a NightStalker, Onyx.

Hiccup: ( to Johann: ) Johann, this is my girlfriend Meryl, and Onyx the newest dragon rider and the only dragon healer on Berk, they are also, uh, well, they're Scalewalkers.

Trader Johann: ( To Meryl and Onyx, with a smile: ) Well, it's a pleasure to meet both of you-

Mildew: Johann!

Trader Johann turned to greet Mildew.

Mildew: Did you bring what I want?

Meryl rolled her eyes before she and Onyx began looking around the ship, but they didn't find anything.

( Slight Time Skip )

The Dragon Riders were now at the academy. Fáfnir was calmly waiting outside by the entrance of the academy, due to him being too big to fit through the entrance. Tuffnut and Ruffnut had put two statues in the academy. Goofball and Evergreen were roughhousing with each other in the background. Hiccup and Toothless were the ones to arrive at the academy.

Tuffnut: Wow. How does that look?

Ruffnut: Beautiful.

Hiccup: ( to the twins: ) You got them for the academy?

Tuffnut: Yeah, we got them from Trader Johann. We had to give him our great-grandfather's skull.  We got to keep his clavicle.

Onyx: ( horrified: ) You have the bones of your great-grandfather? And traded his skull for two statues?

Meryl: It's the twins, they are a whole another level of weird.

Hiccup: ( to the twins: ) Wow! You know, it's about time you guys started taking some pride in this place-

Tuffnut: Duck!

Hiccup: What?

Tuffnut pulled Hiccup down before Barf and Belch fired at one of the statues, and soon the other riders' dragons, except for Meryl and Onyx's, began firing at the statues for target practice. Toothless then sneezed, nearly fired a plasma blast at Snotlout when he tried to join in on the target practice, Snotlout yelped as he dodged the blast. Onyx then began to  examine Toothless, to try to figure out what was the cause of the sneeze. Meryl, Goofball, and Evergreen looked at the night fury with slight worry and concern.

Hiccup: That's strange.

Snotlout: ( to Hiccup: ) Hey! Could you have your dragon cover his mouth when he sneezes?

Hiccup: I'm sorry. But that's never happened before...

Toothless snorted and smile sheepishly.

Onyx: ( to Hiccup: ) He doesn't seem to be showing any other signs of being ill, but I advise keeping a close on him just in case. But, if you notice anything else wrong with him, come to me and I'll see what I can do.

Hiccup: Okay, thanks, Onyx.

( Another Slight Time Skip )

Meryl was in her hut, in the kitchen and was sweeping the floor with Goofball trying to eat a rock that could barely fit in his mouth, when Evergreen walked in with a pretty blue flower in her mouth and showed it to Meryl.

( A/n: Say " Thor damnit " if you have a bad feeling about this flower )

Meryl: ( takes the flower ) Aw, is this for me, Evergreen? Huh, where did you...

Meryl then began to feeling ill and fell on the ground unconscious, and Evergreen soon went unconscious shortly after Meryl. Goofball dropped the rock and looked at his rider and the baby Green Death with complete shock and concern.

( Meanwhile with Onyx, an hour later )

Onyx was flying Fáfnir around Berk, when he saw his friends, except Meryl at the chief's hut and noticed that the dragons were sick. Onyx quickly lands Fáfnir beside his friends with a worried expression.

Onyx: What's going on?

Gobber: Oh, thank Thor. We were about to go find you-

Hiccup: The dragons, they've come down with something, Onyx. Please help us.

Onyx quickly went to work, and got off Fáfnir and looked over each of the sick dragon rider dragons, and his eyes widened in horror.

Onyx: Where's Meryl?

Astrid: Onyx, why-

Onyx: WHERE'S MERYL?!

Fishlegs: I think she mentioned going to her house to-

Onyx quickly began running towards Meryl's house, Fáfnir, Gobber, and the dragon riders quickly began following him. As soon as they went inside her house and got to the kitchen, Hiccup's eyes widened when he saw Meryl and her dragons unconscious on the ground with one of the blue flowers on the ground.

Onyx: Oh, no.... Not again...

Hiccup: Mery!

Onyx then blast a fireball at the blue flower on the ground, burning it into ash, before he ran to the unconscious Scalewalker and her unconscious dragons.

Astrid: Are they-

Onyx: No, they're alive, but.... I am afraid to say... The Blue Death is on the island.

Snotlout: Blue Death-

Onyx: It's known as blue oleander to Vikings. It's extremely poisonous to reptiles, which means...

Hiccup: It's poisonous to dragons and Scalewalkers.

Astrid: Isn't this the same thing that...

Onyx: Killed my mother... Yes. Gobber, go get Gothi, I could use her help to figure out how to fix this.

Gobber: You got it, lad.

Gobber quickly left to get Gothi, and Onyx looked at the riders, Hiccup was completely worried about his girlfriend and her dragons.

Onyx: Hiccup, help me get Meryl and her dragons to their beds. The rest of you, get your dragons to bed to rest and keep them away from the blue flowers. ( To his dragon: ) Fáfnir, you go tell your dad that it's not safe to be in Berk and you both stay in the woods until this is over.

The other riders and the young Boneknapper quickly went to do what Onyx told them. Hiccup quickly picked Meryl up and Onyx picked Evergreen up, and grabbed Goofball's tail, and the two boys left the kitchen.

Once Onyx and Hiccup finished putting Meryl and her dragons in their beds, Hiccup looked at the unconscious Meryl with fear and worry. Onyx placed his hand on Hiccup's shoulder, to comfort him.

Onyx: Don't worry, Hiccup. We'll find out how to cure her and all the dragons. For now, we need to be strong for them...
