Chapter 36

( A/n: Two Giants Part 4 )

The Riders and Onyx were back at the spot above the cove they were before.

Onyx: Okay, did everyone get the stuff they were tasked with?

Hiccup: Yes.

Snotlout: We got the fish, four baskets full.

Fishlegs: and I got all the bandages I could carry.

Onyx then placed the small bucket, which was now filled with water, on the ground and held the mortar and pestle in his hands with serious expression, and he hands the stirring stick to Snotlout.

Onyx: Snotlout, hold the stirring stick. Hiccup, Meryl, hand me the flowers. Astrid, place the jars of herbs on the ground by the bucket.

They did what Onyx told them, Onyx quickly began using the mortar and pestle to grind the flowers into powder before he dropped the powder in the bucket into the water. Onyx then opened the jars of herbs and began talking out loud.

Onyx: A pinch of powdered garlic to disinfect the wound ( takes a pinch of the powdered garlic from one of the jars and puts it in the water ), some powdered marigold-

Tuffnut: Where do you get all of this stuff?

Onyx: Not the time for questioning where I got my supplies, Tuff, now shush.

Onyx then grab some of the powdered marigold from it's jar and put it in the water.

Onyx: And now, some mint powder to weaken the scent of garlic, because a dragon's nose is a lot stronger than a human, meaning it's a lot more sensitive.

Onyx then puts the mint powder into the bucket and closed the jars. The Riders watched in awe as they watched Onyx do his work.

Onyx: Snotlout, the stick.

Snotlout quickly hands Onyx the stick without hesitation, and Onyx quickly began stirring.

Onyx: ( as he's stirring: ) Fishlegs, when the water turns a faded purple, begin putting the rolls of bandages in and soak until they turn to the same color as the water.

Once the water changed a faded purple, Fishlegs began putting all the bandages in and soaked them in the faded purple water. When they finished. Onyx puts the stick down and picked up the bandages.

Onyx: ( to the riders, with a serious expression: ) Stay here, and no matter what happens don't go anywhere near the Knappers.

Astrid: Why? Onyx, what are you going to do-

Onyx quickly began making his way down into the cove with the two giant dragons. The riders watched in worry as the older Boneknapper looked at Onyx and glared angrily and protectively at him.

Astrid: We have-

Hiccup: No, we need to trust that he knows what he's doing.

Meryl: ( under her breath: ) Oh Thor almighty, I swear I am going to die from how many flame attacks you all give me on a daily basis.

Onyx lowers his head to the Knapper, causing the older dragon to start circling the Scalewalker with a glare.

Snotlout: What is Onyx doing...?

Onyx: ( in Dragon, respectfully: ) I am no threat to you. I only wish to heal your son. I promise you... I don't wish to be the cause of his pain and I don't wish to be a burden.

The older Boneknapper's glare softened and he hesitantly steps aside to let Onyx help his son.

Fishlegs: I get it! Onyx is lowering his head to make himself appear weaker than the Knappers, making them see him as not a threat.

Astrid: Doesn't make what he's doing any less dangerous and crazy.

Onyx slowly walked to the wounded Boneknapper's leg, and took a deep breath.

Onyx: ( to the wounded Boneknapper, in dragon: ) This is going to hurt a lot, but I promise you, it'll be over soon.

The wounded Boneknapper turned his head away from Onyx to prepare for the pain as Onyx prepares to remove the dragon bear trap from the young Knapper's leg. Onyx, with ease and carefully, opens the trap and removes it from the Knapper's leg. Onyx quickly tossed the trap aside and began bandaging the wound. As soon as the young Boneknapper felt the pain numb, he turned his head to Onyx and his father, and slowly stood up. The young Boneknapper then tried to let out a happy roar, but no sound came out.

Fishlegs: Huh, no roar...

The young Boneknapper then picked Onyx up by the back of his shirt and looked at his father with his tail wagging as he made some small sounds, asking the older Boneknapper something that caused Meryl to stiffen a laugh while Onyx's eyes widened.

Hiccup: Uh-

Meryl: ( whispers to her boyfriend and friends: ) The son Knapper just asked if they could keep Onyx.

The older Boneknapper gave his son an unsure look before...

Gobber: ( off-screen: ) Let go of him, beasts!

Onyx and the Riders' eyes widened as they saw Gobber charge at the older Boneknapper with a sword, the older Boneknapper went in front of his son protectively and death glared at Gobber.

Onyx: Gobber, no! Don't!

Gobber: ( to the older Boneknapper: ) Bring it on! I'll show you what happens when you mess with me!!

The young Boneknapper was still holding Onyx and he backed up as he didn't want Onyx to get hurt from his father and Gobber's feud. Hiccup and Meryl then noticed that the missing bones of the Knapper's armors looked like the bones that Gobber and Onyx had.

Hiccup: Wait.

Meryl: The Boneknapper searches for the perfect bone to build its coat of armor.

Hiccup: The treasure and the bone Onyx found! ( Yells, to Gobber and Onyx: ) Onyx, empty your pockets! Gobber, take off your pants!

Gobber & Onyx: ( at the same time: ) Huh?

The other riders: NO!

Meryl: ( to everyone: ) Wait, listen.

Hiccup: Boneknappers are supposed to have a roar. But maybe they can't because Onyx has and found the younger Knapper's bone and the bone the older one needs is Gobber's belt buckle.

Onyx: Gobber, please, you have to give it back.

Gobber: No way, it's mine. ( The older Boneknapper grabs Gobber's fake leg ) Uh-oh.

The older Boneknapper started shaking Gobber around in the air, and Onyx gave Gobber a stern expression.

Hiccup: Give him back his bone!

Gobber: NOOO!

Onyx: GIVE HIM BACK HIS BONE!!!

Gobber: Oh, alright.

Onyx then pulls the bone he found out from his pocket as Gobber threw the bone he was using as a belt buckle back to the older Boneknapper, it lands in his armor. The older Boneknapper and his son then dropped the two humans they were holding, the young Boneknapper dropped Onyx to the ground gently while his father dropped Gobber roughly.

Onyx then gave the bone he found back to the young Boneknapper, putting it in its place in the young Knapper's armor. Both Knappers roared happily and loudly, causing all the humans and Scalewalkers to cover their ears. The older Boneknapper glares down at Gobber.

Onyx: GOBBER!

Gobber: ( to the older Boneknapper: ) Alright, you've got me. Make it fast.

The older Boneknapper then began to nuzzle Gobber, and Gobber's pants fell. Hiccup covers Meryl's eyes. Onyx quickly turned away, and the young Boneknapper began gently nuzzling him with a purr.

Hiccup: That's gonna give me nightmares.

Astrid: Well, at least it seems that Onyx has a dragon now.

Onyx: ( to the young Boneknapper, who was now laying on his back wagging his tail: ) Aren't you just a big softy? Yes, you are. Yes, you are! ( to Gobber and the riders, with a dorky smile: ) Can I keep him?

Meryl: ( Hiccup was still covering her eyes ) He just asked the same thing about keeping you to his dad, I think that gives you a hint what the is to your question is.

( A few minutes later )

Stoick and many looked at the two Boneknappers in shock and disbelief. Onyx was petting the young Boneknapper, not seeming to have noticed that people were staring at him.

Stoick: I can't believe what I am seeing.

Gobber: I told you the Boneknapper exist. And I'm pretty sure his son is now Onyx's new dragon.

The young Boneknapper had his tongue sticking out and his tail was wagging as Onyx was scratching under his chin.

Onyx: ( to Stoick: ) Can they stay? They can live in west side of the woods. Please, Stoick?

Stoick thinks for a moment, and the young Boneknapper whines and gave Stoick the sad eyes.

Stoick: ( sighs ) ( to Onyx: ) You and Gobber are in charge of them.

( A few weeks later )

Onyx and Gobber were working in the shop, Onyx noticed that some vikings were staring at him making him nervous again, but the young Boneknapper and the older Boneknapper suddenly appeared and blocked Onyx's view of the staring Vikings causing Onyx to smile.

Onyx: ( to the older Boneknapper: ) Hey, Rhaegal. ( To the younger Boneknapper: ) Hey, Fáfnir. How you doing, buddy?

Both Knappers purred at the NightStalker Scalewalker, and Gobber placed his hand on Onyx's shoulder.

Gobber: Come on, son. Let's make these gentle giants some saddles.
