5: Pockets To Pick

"์•ˆ๋…•ํ•˜์„ธ์š”! ์ €๋Š” ์ตœ์‚ฐ์ž…๋‹ˆ๋‹ค." (Hello ! I am Choi San.) I simply nodded as I gave San my attention. "The first thing you said to me was about walking the plank. I am still a bit shocked." San laughed this off as he took a seat on the railing of the ship. "Well, who else was going to tell you what Yeosang meant ? You clearly weren't getting it."

"Don't sit there !", I yelled foolishly as San seemed amused by my outburst. "I am not scared of going overboard." I was shocked once more. Had he gone overboard multiple times before ? "๋†๋‹ดํ•˜์„ธ์š”?" (Are you joking ?)

I really shouldn't have asked. San help up a familiar pouch as he poured the contents into his hand. "Hey !" San handed me my pouch back as he made a goofy expression full of confidence. "Sorry, Narae. I was just proving a point."

"What point is that ?", I said as I put the contents of my pouch back in its place. I really need to keep a better grip on this pouch now. "My role here on the ship. I am a wonderful pickpocket. Am I not ?"

So far everyone I've met so far had a physical gift. Does this pickpocket have one ? "Where is your gift ? Everyone seems to have one." San' smile dropped for a second before it was back up once again. San reached into his shirt with a monocle connected into a necklace. "I have incredible vision. My monocle allows me to see things as close as a speck of dust or as far away as shore miles away."

I sighed, "I bet you use that monocle to pick your targets." San rolled his eyes as he got comfortable on the railing. "๊ทธ๋ž˜์„œ ์–ด์ฉŒ๋ผ๊ณ  ๋ถ€์ž๋“ค์ด ๊ทธ๋“ค์˜ ๋ถ€๋ฅผ ๊ทธ๋ƒฅ ์œ ์ง€ํ•ด์•ผ ํ•˜๋Š” ๊ฒƒ์€ ์•„๋‹ˆ๋‹ค." (So what ? It isn't like the rich should just keep their riches.) Quiet. Everything about the conversation stopped for a bit. No one talked for a few moments before Yeosang was called away.

"You steal from the rich to make yourself rich. Is that right ?" San scoffed as he gestured to the very ship we were on. "It isn't stealing if that money wasn't being used for anything. The people I take things from are no saints. Pawning what we can greatly helps with fixes to the ship & helps us when we dock."

He wasn't wrong at all. This ship was in amazing condition. However, I am almost sure there is something off about this ship. "Am I the first woman to have been on this ship ?" I hadn't thought if this until now. They've dealt with Drifters, but had they every really interacted with a woman ? San walked off from me, so I followed him.

Our conversation was cut short as I realized who we were next to now...
