So Close, Yet So Far Ch. 20

Serena's POV

I walked towards the beach alone. Thoughts jumped around in my mind as I kept thinking of what to do next.

Flashback~

"I... I want to bring contests to Alola."

My voice seemed to echo around the room. No one spoke at all. Even the pokemon (except my pokemon since they knew about what I wanted to do).'I sweat dropped at their reactions. Suddenly, they all started to stir at the same time and jumped up.

"WHAT?!?" Drew, Dawn, and May screamed/asked.

I flinched at their sudden outburst.

"I want to bring contests to Alola. W-We'll, not exactly contests, but maybe a mix of those and Kalos Showcases?" I said nervously while fidgeting with my fingers.

By the time that I finished speaking, they all sat down and stared intently at me.

"S-So, what do you guys think? Can you do it with me?" I asked.

There was silence for a few seconds. Then there were deep breaths and...

I should've covered my ears.

"OF COURSE!!!" That was mostly Dawn and May. Drew was in that too, but not as loudly. They all smiled (while Drew of course had his smirk/smile) at me.

"We'll stick by you always!" Dawn said encouragingly.

"If you want to do this, we'll be with you every step of the way!" May said, a determined look on her face.

Drew, of course, nodded.

"Thanks guys!" I said, smiling brightly.

To be honest, I was really nervous if they had rejected me or not agreed. I was relived when they said that they'd stick with me. They're really great friends.

"So, what'll we do?" Drew asked, getting straight to the point.

"Well, first I want to ask Professor Kukui to help us. And second..." I said while Lising dramatically.

They leaned in closer.

"Keep it a secret."

Flashback End~

I sat down staring at the water. It was currently a little after noon and I was taking a walk to clear my head. The Alola sun was shining brightly overhead and its rays shone down on the Alola land. The rays of sunlight hit the waves on the water to make the sea look more majestic than it already was. I've always loved the ocean, even though I've barely seen it before back in Kalos.

"What? Why?" May had said when I told them to keep my plan a secret.

"Because!" I said with a small smirk. "It'll be a surprise!"

I really did want to surprise everyone. I wanted them to see how much I had grown through my journeys and what I had learned. I especially wanted Ash to see that.

Putting together my plan would sure take some work, but it would definitely be worth it.

Flashback~

I walked up to Professor Kukui's house. I had to ask him if he could help with my- no, wait, our plan. Drew, May, and Dawn had agreed to help, in which I was very grateful. The pokemon all agreed as well.

I walked up the steps and knocked on the door. I waited a few moments before it opened up completely, revealing Professor Burnet, Professor Kukui's wife.

"Oh! Serena, right? Ash's friend? What brings you here?" She asked.

This is perfect! Maybe I could get both of them to help! We'd be able to get everything done faster!

"Umm, is Ash home?" I asked.

I wanted to make sure that Ash wasn't home so that he wouldn't find out about our plan yet.

"No actually. He went out to train with his pokemon. I don't know where either, sorry." Professor Burnet responded.

Relief flooded through me.

"It's fine! This is actually great! Is Professor Kukui here?" I asked.

"Yes, he is. Do you need to talk to him?" Professor Burnet asked.

"Yes I do. Can I talk to you both together?"

"Sure. Come on inside. I'll go get him." She said with a small smile.

I nodded and walked through the door as she gestured inside.

I made my self comfortable on the couch and waited as Professor Burnet fetched Professor Kukui. A few moments later they both came into the living room. They sat on some chairs across from me.

"Hello Serena. What would you like to talk about?" Professor Kukui asked.

"Yes, I would like to ask the both of you to help me and my friends with a huge project," I said.

"And what would that be?" Professor Burnet asked.

"Can you help us start contests in Alola?" I asked.

"Contest? As in, performing, correct?" Professor Burnet cleared up.

"Yes. I was thinking of having a mix of Kalos Showcases and Hoenn Contests," I said. "I'd like to call these "Showcases" as well, but they're different to Kalos Showcases. Instead of two stages, there would be three. The first, a Theme Performance like in Kalos. Then a Battle Stage like in Hoenn. And finally, a Freestyle Performance like in both. I want to combine what made the contests/showcases in both regions special and fun, and put them together to make something amazing here. It would take a lot of work but..."

I stood up and bowed.

"Please help us!"

There was silence for a little bit and I felt sweat trickle down my face. I was still bowing and I didn't dare look up. I decided to take a chance anyways and glanced up. I saw both professors nod.

"Of course!" They both said.

"It sounds fun! Something that Alola needs!" Professor Burnet exclaimed excitedly.

"I'm sure that you've all put a lot of thought in it, so it must be something you all want to do," Professor Kukui said.

"It is! Thank you so much!" I said happily, tears of joy threatening to spill from my eyes.

Flashback End~

They also agreed to keep our plans a secret from everyone else. I was very grateful for that.

I started walking back to the cabin. As I was walking, I passed a clock.

3:35.

"Oh shoot! The meeting starts in five minutes!" I shouted to no one.

I started running towards the cabin faster. We were holding our first meeting to plan for the Alolan Showcases. Everyone involved with the plan was going to be there. It would be horrible if I, The one who asked everyone to be there, was late.

Alolan Showcases...

Those are two words that I hope that we'll be hearing more often.

Do You Like K-Pop- NOOOOO!!! My sister is a total BTS crazed fan and won't shut up about them. I don't have anything against them really, but it's the fact that she plays her music full blast everyday and you can't escape it. It's one of those situations where if you were stuck in a prison cell with her and her music, and not being able to do anything at all except bang your head against the wall until you've shaken your brain enough to the point that you can't hear any more.

Pokemon IRL- PLZZZZ!!! I used to stay awake at night thinking about how I'd love to have Eevee evolutions everywhere...

Anime Currently Watching- Sword Art Online or SAO! I'm rewatching the anime. Actually I'm trying to hurry up here so that I can watch some more!

Pets- Sadly, a dog. His name is Sparky and we've had him since I was in 2nd grade. I'm currently in 7th grade so, if you do the math, we've had him for five years.

Favorite Anime Genres- Romance, Fantasy, Shoujo, Adventure, Gender Bender (sometimes), and ever so rarely Action. Also, I HATE Gorey anime. It scares me...

Brother or Sister- I have both a little brother and little sister. I'm the oldest! My sister is 12, her birthday on February 10, and my brother is 9, almost 10 since his birthday is on February 22.
