Chapter 32: Order in the Court

08:27, 3 September 2014

(Maya’s POV)

Two months since I had been in the hospital after Jane had attacked me and now I had to fly back to LA for the court hearing. I didn’t want too, but I had too. I felt so many emotions as I set in the court room. “It’s going to be okay,” Liam whispers as she squeezed my hand.  I smiled at him. “I promise it will be okay,” he whispered. I nodded and looked around. Somehow every news station was there I don’t know who tipped them off but I didn’t want to thank the person who tipped them.

Just then I heard a door open and Jane walked out with two police officers. My stomach instantly dropped. I didn’t know what was going on half of the time, but then I was called to the stand.

“Maya, do you remember the day you were assaulted by Jane?”

“Well, some of it, “

“What do you remember?”

“Picking up Serra from the airport and meeting up with Liam to pick out our wedding cake.”

“But that’s all you remember?”

“I do remember arguing with Jane, but I don’t remember why,”

“Do you remember where you were?”

“I was with the Liam and the guys at the studio,”

“And Jane just showed up?”

“I said I don’t remember,”

“Maya, did you invite here there?”

“No, I do know that one,”

“Why wouldn’t you invite her there?”

“Because she used my life for money,”

“How so?”

“She sold stories to the tabloids to get cash,”

“That’s all, you can take a seat,”

“But…,”

“But what?”

“Nothing,”

I left the stand feeling defeated, I didn’t even answer the questions my lawyer made me prepare for. I set down next to Liam and he grabbed my hand and this time I squeezed it. Jane was called to the stand.  I hadn’t seen her since the day she assaulted me. I couldn’t even look at her. At that moment I felt my stomach drop.

“Jane, why did you go to the studio that day?”

“To talk to Liam,”

“What did you need to talk to him about?”

“I need to tell him I was the one who sent all that stories to the tabloids before Maya found out,”

“Why did you sell out your own family?”

“I wanted her life, I became obsessed with trying me to ruin her life so she would come home. I wanted the spotlight, the famous boyfriend, going on tour and having my face in every magazine,”

As Jane explained why she would sell me out my stomach dropped. She was like a stalker. A creepy stalker.

“What did you do with the money you made?”

“I was saving up.”

“Saving up for what?”

“I can’t say.”

What was she saving up for? I need her to say, doesn’t she have to say? I mean she is under oath.

“Well, Jane, you have to tell me,”

“I was going to hire someone to follow her around so I could get more stories,”

“That day when you assaulted Maya, what was your motive there?”

“I didn’t plan on hurting her.”

“Then why did you do it?”

“I couldn’t take it anymore.”

“Take what?”

“I couldn’t take her rubbing it in my face about her amazing life anymore. She pushed me over the edge that day.”

“When you saw her head smack into the wall, why didn’t you just stop there?”

I couldn’t listen to this anymore, I needed out of here “Lee, I need out of here, I can’t listen to this anymore.” I whispered.  I started to stand up but he pulled me back down. “You can’t just leave,” he whispered.

“I couldn’t stop the rage took over.”

“So you punched her rapidly….hoping what? Hoping she would die so you can take her famous boyfriend and her amazing life?”

“Yes…”

Tears streamed down my face. I felt lost and numb and confused. “I’m so sorry,” Liam whispered as pulled me closer to him. “I can’t do this,” I cried. My lawyer helped me up and Liam and I left the court room.

When we were in the hallway Liam pulled into a hug. I hugged him back as tight as I could. “Please make this all go away,” I begged him. “It will soon, I promise.” He assured me. After crying as much as I possibly could we had to go back into the court room.

“I’m sorry, Maya, but we are going to need to ask you some more questions,” My lawyer told me.  I nodded and walked back to the stand and swore in.

“Maya, how did you spend your days after the assault took place?”

“I was in the hospital trying to recover.”

“How long were you in the hospital?”

“A week,”

“Did you do any physical therapy after that?”

“Yes, I still go from time to time.”

“What do you go for?”

“Movement in my arm”

(A few hours later)

The first day of court was over tomorrow Liam was going to take the stand and tell his side of the story. I just wanted this to be over. We didn’t have a place to call home. We had been staying with Liam’s parents until we had to fly back home.  Once we stepped outside we had to push through the media on both sides of the staircase.  “I’ll drive,” Liam offered when we got to the car. “Okay,” I sighed.

I didn’t recognize the route we were taking to get to Harry’s house. “Where are we going?” I asked him. “Harry’s, I’m just taking the longest route possible,” he told me. “Lee?” I mumbled. “Yes love?” He answered. “Thanks,” I said.

“For what?” he asked confused. “Everything you have ever done for me,” I assured him. He smiled. “It’s absolute pleasure.”

We pulled up to a gated house that I knew was not Harry’s unless he had painted recently and he decorated. “Welcome home!” Liam exclaimed. “What…Wait?!” I cried.  “The guys and everyone got it for us and decorated and move everything we still had over here,” Liam explained with the biggest smile on his face. The house well more like mansion was everything I have ever wanted.

“This is incredible!” I screech. Liam laugh as he unlocks the gate and drives up the driveway. “Welcome home, Love,” Liam smiled.

(Liam’s POV)

“If it’s okay the guys, Simon, Paul, Lou, Tom, and Lux are coming over for dinner,” I told Maya as we looked around the house. “That’s fine, I don’t mind,” she hummed. “Well they all offered to bring the food so we don’t have to worry about that,”  I told her. She stopped and smile at me. “You have some amazing people in your life I hope you know that,” she says.

I nodded, “They are in your life too,” I reminded her. “I know they are and I’m super grateful for them but they wouldn’t be in my life if it wasn’t for you,” she tells me.  “Let’s go for a swim!” I suggest. “Sounds good to me, but give me some time I might get lost on my way to the bedroom,” she laughs.

“Okay, I’ll go get us some drinks.” I tell her. “Okay, I’ll meet you outside,” she says as she walks down the hall.

(Maya’s POV)

“So you punched her rapidly….hoping what? Hoping she would die so you can take her famous boyfriend and her amazing life?”

“Yes…”

Those words haunted me, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. When I found the bedroom I walked into the closet and grabbed a bikini. It looks like Lou went on a shopping spree while I was gone.  I changed and then looked in the mirror. How could your own family turn on you and want you dead? How do you live a life with my goal of killing someone so you can take over their life? What was she thinking when I died Liam would run to her? I couldn’t sit about and worry about this considering I had to be there all day again tomorrow. I knew she would get what was coming to her, but I didn’t want to sit in that court room any longer. It was just to heard to sit there and listen to everything and tomorrow they were going to show the surveillance footage and pictures of the crime scene that was just too much for me.

Liam: Come swim the water is great!

I must have been standing forever before I heard my phone go off, I picked it up and left the room. I grabbed my sunglasses off the kitchen counter and went to find the pool.

“I wanted her life, I became obsessed with trying me to ruin her life so she would come home. I wanted the spotlight, the famous boyfriend, going on tour and having my face in every magazine,”

I wish there was a button I could press to turn my brain off.  When I reached the pool Liam was in the pool waiting for me. “It’s about time you get here!” he joked. “Sorry, like I said I would I got lost!” I laughed. “Well, come in the water is great!” he exclaimed.

(Harry’s POV)

“Harry! I need you!” I heard Lux cry. “Where is she anyways?” I asked Tom. “With Lou in the kitchen, but I don’t know why she needs you,” he chuckled. I got up and headed to the kitchen. “You rang Lux?” I asked with a laugh. “Mummy said you have to wash the bowl,” She told me. “Oh really? She did huh?” I asked her. I looked up at Lou who was laughing. “Okay, I’ll was the bowl but you are going to have to pay me with candy,” I told her. A worried expression soon appeared on her face. “But I don’t have any candy!” she cried.

I just laughed. “For you I guess I’ll do it for free,” I joked. I walked over and washed the dishes for Lou. “Why did you pick me?” I asked Lou. “I didn’t, Lux, did,” she informed me. Lou and I laughed. “Do you need any help Lou?” Niall came in  and asked. “Go way Niall!” Lux cried. I busted out laughing. “She told you,” I told him. “Why do I have to leave?” Niall asked her. “Because I’m the boss and I say so,” Lux informed him. “Lux, now be nice, Niall wants to help you should let him,” Lou told her.

“Fine!” she cried as she stormed out of the kitchen. “Do you think Maya liked the house?” Niall asked as he helped Lou cook. “I sure hope so, she deserves this,” I told him. “That poor girl just can’t catch a break,” Lou sighed.

(Maya’s POV)

After swimming for awhile I went to take a shower so I was ready when everyone got here. As the warm water hit my skin everything came back to me.

(Flashback)

I looked at Jane I wanted to say something but I couldn’t get the words to come out of my mouth. “Maya, please just talk to me,” She begged. “Go,” I practically whispered harshly. “But, Maya, we are family,” She reminded me. I laughed rudely in her face. “If we were family you would have never done what you did! Didn’t you hear me before? LEAVE!” I yelled.

She didn’t move she just stared at me. “You ruined every single chance you ever had being family with me! You set me up for failure, but jokes on you I made it out better than before! That must really hurt, your little plan didn’t even work,  so you can leave now like I said before! I can’t even wrap my mind around the idea of saying you are part of my family, because you have no right to be a part of it. My mom might have let you move in and mooch off of them but I’m not her nor will I ever be. You can wipe that sorry little look off of your face because it is not going to save you!” I snapped.

Before I knew it Jane shoved me into the wall. As my head smacked the wall, making the loudest noise I have ever heard, I could faintly hear Liam yell before it all went black.

(End of Flashback)

I hurried with the rest of my shower and then got out. I went to my closet and picked out my outfit. I didn’t want to look too fancy but I didn’t want to look too casual either, I had to meet in the middle.

Lou: Girl I’m so happy I get to see you tonight! I miss you!

Maya: Oh Lou, I miss you too!

After I was ready to go I set down on the bed and scrolled through twitter and Instagram. I posted a selfie and then decided to go find Liam. I’m surprised he hadn’t come and checked me yet. I heard people talking when I got to the front of the house.

(Liam’s POV)

“Well, thank you sir,” I said as the officer left. “Who was that?” Maya asked me as she walked up to me. “The guy who tried to burn the house down was caught, and we don’t have to go through a court case and the charges already being charged,” I explained to her. “Thank goodness,” she sighed.  I smiled at her. “What?” She asked me. “You look beautiful,” I told her. “Well, thank you, you don’t look to bad yourself,” She smiled as hugged me. I hugged her back and kissed the top of her head. “I can’t wait until we’re married,” she hummed. “Me either,” I assured her.  “Me either.”

*Hey guys! What a chapter so many different emotions. It was weird to write, but I’m loving the way it came out! I hope you stay tuned to see what happens next! XOXO*
