Chapter 27: She's back

(Maya’s POV)

We took some pictures before everyone started to arrive. “You look amazing!” Makayla squealed. I smiled at her and hugged her. I couldn’t believe we were at my engagement party. I had had one before but it was nothing like this one. The last one was more like a backyard grill out. 

I looked around our house had been transformed and it was gorgeous.  I watched as people scrambled around to get the last minute details set, and I laughed as Liam tripped over nothing causing him to face plant into the floor. “Oh my gosh! Liam are you okay?” I asked as I went over to help him out.  

I put out my hand to help Liam up, but I still laughed the whole time. “Oh my goodness! You should have seen your face!” I laughed as I helped him up. “Don’t laugh, Maya, it’s not funny,” Liam huffed.

(Liam’s POV)

As everyone started to arrive I became more nervous. “Congratulations!” Everyone would say as they greeted us. As the night went on we had such a great time with all of our family and friends. “I would like to make a toast!” Harry exclaimed. Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to Harry.

“Liam is like my older brother who doesn’t allow me to have any fun, but I still love him. We have had the opportunity of a lifetime as a band now he gets the opportunity of a lifetime to marry the girl of his dreams. Maya has become so special to all of us and I know I speak for the rest of the guys when I say we wouldn’t want a life where these two are not together. They bring out the best in each other and honestly I am jealous of their relationship. The way it started was just insane and I still can’t believe Maya stayed with him after seeing how we behave. Here’s to the future Mr. and Mrs. Payne!” Harry toasted.

(Harry’s POV-Flashback)

“Okay, now Maya you have to stay calm okay?” I told her. “Harry, c’mon you know I can stay calm,” She sighed. “We are about to enter Mall of America, and we all know your addiction to shopping,” I joked. “The lad is correct,” Louis chuckled.  I watched as Maya’s eyes lit up as we entered the mall. I noticed Liam smiling at her just like he always does. I was super jealous of their relationship. I didn’t understand why I couldn’t find one like that on my own.

(Maya’s POV)

“Look at you girl! You look stunning!” I heard someone exclaim from behind me. I recognized the voice but I couldn’t remember who it was. I turned around and saw Bri standing there. “What are you doing here?” I asked her. I was in complete shock. “Well, I heard about this and I couldn’t miss it,” she proclaimed. “Yeah, well I haven’t talked to you in how long?” I asked her. “Well, let’s just forgive and forget,” She sighed.

“Not right now Bri,” I sighed and walked away. I knew she was following me but I honestly couldn’t believe the stunt she was trying to pull. “Where’s Liam?” I asked Louis. “He was just with you,” Louis told me as if I didn’t know. I just smiled at him and continued to look for him. I walked into the kitchen and saw him helping with the food.

“There you are,” I sigh. “Here I am,” Liam mocked me. I walked over and hugged him. “What’s wrong?” He asked me. How does he do that? He always can tell when something is wrong and I didn’t even say anything. “Bri is here, did you know she was coming?” I asked him as I pulled away from the hug.

“Why is she here?” he asked in complete shock. “I have no clue,” I told him. “Where is she at?” He asked as he exited the kitchen. I followed behind him trying to keep up, but it was impossible.  “Maya, there you are!” My mom chimed making me lose sight of Liam. “What’s up?” I groan. “Well, I was just telling your dad about how beautiful you are going to look on the wedding day and it made us realize we hadn’t really spent anytime with you,” She rambled.

I stayed and talked with my parents for awhile, I mean had no other choice. The rest of the night went by and I never saw Bri again, I had no clue where she went too, or if I was just imagining her there.

“Tonight was a major success,” Liam told me as we got ready for bed.  “I know, I’m glad everyone had a great time,” I assured him. I got into bed and curled up under the blankets I was ready for this day to end.

(Liam’s POV)

It was 3 am I had been laying in bed for awhile now, but I couldn’t sleep. Maya was sound asleep, but I had too much on my mind.  If I told Maya the judge released Jane until he reviewed the case again she would never leave the house and she would be very depressed and I didn’t want that. But I also didn’t want her to find out from someone else. 

When I saw Bri tonight trying to sneak out without anyone seeing her I grew very frustrated, I let her go without even bothering to ask why she was there in the first place. The guys told me she was there before Maya did that’s why I was in the kitchen. I was trying to calm down without her finding me, but Maya always seems to find me.

(Maya’s POV)

The next morning I woke up around 8 and Liam was still asleep. I quietly got out of bed and went to the living room.

Bri: It was nice to see you last night!

Maya: GO AWAY!

I put my phone on the coffee table and started to cry. I couldn’t believe she was going to do with. Didn’t she know how much she hurt me last time around and now she thinks we can just forgive and forget? Oh no way that’s happening!

Bri: C’mon Maya let’s just move on.

Maya: I don’t know who you think you are but if you don’t remember right you ruined our friendship and I never want to talk to you or see you again!

Bri: Way to act like a child Maya, seriously grow up.

Maya: You know what! I had no choice to grow when my own cousin assaulted me!

Bri: What are you talking about?

Maya: Like you don’t know!

Bri: I really don’t, are you okay?

Maya: Wait…you don’t know about Jane?

Bri: Well sort of but I never got told the whole true story.

Maya: Who told you about it?

Bri: The tabloids.

Maya: I should have figured.

Bri: I didn’t want to bother your family during that stressful time.
