Chapter 26: A Little Party Never Killed Nobody

(Maya’s POV)

The next morning I woke up to Liam already out of bed. I rolled over and looked at the clock it was after 8 which meant everyone would be arriving soon. I got out of bed and headed to my closet to make myself look somewhat decent. I needed caffeine which meant I needed to go to Starbucks.

“Babe, are you awake?” I heard Liam come in and asked. “Yeah, hold on just changing!” I called out. I quickly threw my tshirt that I slept in back on and walked out of the closet to find Liam holding Starbucks.

“For you my love,” he said with a smile as he handed me the cup. “Thanks!” I chime as I take the cup from him and take a drink. I walk over and set in the middle of the bed. “Shouldn’t you be getting ready?” He asked me. “Yes, I should but I don’t feel like it,” I told him.  My body ached and my head was pounding. I drank my coffee hoping it would help. “Do you need anything?” Liam asked me. “No, I just should probably eat so I can take my medication,” I told him as I got off the bed.

“Would you like me to make you anything?” Liam offered.  I smiled. “I’ll take that as a yes,”  he chuckled as he left the room. I made my way to Serra’s room, but she was still asleep, so I rerouted to the kitchen. “What are you going to make Chef Payne?” I asked him as I leaned up to the counter.

“Pancakes,” He smiled at me. I watched as he made breakfast and soon Serra walked through the kitchen. “Good morning sleepy head,” I joked as she set down at the table. “Shh, it’s too early.” She mumbled. I just laughed.

“Okay, if you burn another pancake I might scream!” Serra demanded as we laughed at Liam who had burnt pretty much every pancake.  “Okay, I give up!” Liam exclaimed. “No,  just try again!” I laughed.

(Flashback)

“Alright, your apartment is officially unpacked and I did most of the work,” Carter joked as he set down on the couch next to me. “Sorry, but carrying those boxes up the stairs wore me out!” I said dramatically.  “I’m starving let’s make lunch,” he suggested. “Sounds good to me, but I have no food,” I reminded him. “Okay, we’ll go to the store first and then I’ll make us something to eat,” he informed me.

“Alright as long as you don’t try to burn everything like you usually do,” I joked as I playfully hit his arm. “You are such a brat,” He laughed. “I know, but you love me,” I said with a smile. He smiled back at me. “Of course I do.”

(End of flashback)

We ate our pancakes and then went to get ready. I showered and then went to the closet to find something to wear.  I grabbed my favorite floral romper from Urban Outfitters and some wedges. I got dressed and then curled my hair and did my makeup.

“Honey! Everyone is here let’s go!” I heard Liam holler from the living room. I did one last look in the mirror before I went to see everyone. You could see still my stitches I had around my ear and my arms had bruises but somehow even though I looked broken I still felt beautiful. Maybe it was because everyone I cared about was here today to help me get the wedding dress of my dreams.

I pulled my hair to the side and ran my hand down my neck. So many stitches I didn’t even know the count.  I let my hair fall back to its place, I grabbed my purse and headed for the living room. I ran to my mom and hugged her as tight as I could. “I’ve missed you,” My mom whispers as she hugs me back. A few tears escape my eyes. “I’ve missed you too,” I assured her. After a minute or so I pulled away and saw everyone else. My sisters were there, Makayla, Alyson, Kassie, Karen, Ruth, Eleanor, Nicola, Lou, Lux, and someone I didn’t recognize. “What are you doing here?” I heard Liam ask as he placed his hand on my back.

“Don’t worry Liam, your mom is going to drop me off at my car rental and you will never see me again,” she snapped. She must be Sophia. “I’m guessing you’re Sophia, I’m Maya,” I introduced myself. She smiled at me. “It’s very nice to meet you Maya. I’m sorry to hear about your hospital stay,” she said. She seemed nice I don’t get why Liam hated her so much.

‘Thank you, it’s very nice to be back home with Liam,” I assured her. I noticed Karen smile. “Well, I have to meet up with the guys,” Liam said. “Bye have fun!” I chimed. He leaned in and kissed me and then just smiled. “I will, you guys have fun too. I love you Maya,” He smiled and then left.

“Well, someone likes to put on a show,” Makayla joked. “No, he’s always like that,” Serra said with a laugh. “Really?” Sophia asked sounding surprised. I just laughed, this turned awkward fast. “Well, we should probably get going,” I mentioned. 

(Liam’s POV)

Why the heck would my mum bring Sophia to our house on this special day for Maya? Even though Maya didn’t seem to mind that she was there I sure did. I didn’t want Maya to have to worry about her today, she was suppose to be only worried about finding the perfect wedding dress not about Sophia.

 As I pulled up to Louis’s I tried to recollect my thoughts before I got out of my car. “Dude the pool is getting cold!” I heard exclaim as I approached the house. I didn’t even knock I just let myself in and made my way to the backyard. “Well, look who it is!” Niall exclaimed as I walked out onto the back deck.

“Sorry I’m late the girls took too long to leave,” I sighed. “How was it?” Louis asked as if he knew Sophia was there. “Awkward,” I said I took off my t-shirt. “Why?” Andy asked me. “Sophia showed up with my family,” I sighed and then jumped into the pool. “Why the heck did she do that?” Harry asked. “She said my mom was taking her to her rental car, but I’m sure there was more to it,” I explained to him.

“Alright enough about girls this is a guy day,” Zayn said.  “Where is the rest of the guys?” I asked her. “Coming soon, they had a press thing,” Harry commented. “Pauly cooking for us?” Niall joked. “Who else would?” Louis asked with a laugh.  

Liam: Hope you have a great day! I love you XOXO.

Maya: You better put the phone down and stop worrying about me. Love you too!

She knew me too well, of course I had been waiting for her to text me or post something on the web so I knew she was doing okay.  “Is she okay?” Harry asked me. “Yeah, she’s doing great, she told me to leave her alone,” I laughed.  “This is why you guys are getting married,” Niall joked. I noticed Zayn walk away from the group. “Okay, guys let’s make this interesting,” Louis said as he walked up to us. “What do you mean?” I asked him.

(Maya’s POV)

I looked in the mirror, I felt like a princess. “You look amazing,” The consultant told me. I smiled at her. I knew I did, but I didn’t want to seem selfish. “How do you feel?” She asked me. “I feel amazing, I mean it made me forget what has been going on and I just love it,”  I ramble on.  I can’t stop looking at myself in the mirror. I had tried on a couple that I liked, but when I put this one I fell in love.

“Let’s go show everyone,” she said. I nodded and turned to go see everyone else. When I opened the door and my mom saw me she instantly started crying. “You look amazing,” Lou said through tears. “You look like a princess!” Lux exclaims. “She sure is a princess,” My mom said with a smile.  

“This is the one,” I said. “I love it!” Serra exclaimed. “I can’t stop staring,” Ruth smiled. “Dang girl, you look flawless,” Nicola assured me.

(Liam’s POV)

A couple hours had gone by and everyone had arrived. “We should invite the girls over,” Louis told me. “I thought today was a guy day?” I asked him. Louis always complains that we never just have “Guys days” anymore, so when he insisted we invite everyone else over I was in shock.

“You are inane,” Calum told Louis. I just laughed.  “What about the party tonight?” Harry asked. “Right! I have to leave soon,” I remembered. “If we miss that Maya might kill us,” Luke said with a laugh. “Yeah, she just might,” I agreed with him.

(Maya’s POV)

“Alright let’s get you ready for your engagement party!” Lou exclaimed. “If you insist!” I said with a laugh.

Liam: On my way home to get ready! Sorry for running late!

Maya: No big deal, we just got home as well!

I washed off my makeup from earlier and then met Lou in the living room where she had setup all of her stuff.  “Was that Liam freaking out since he was running late?” Lou asked me. “Yeah, it was, and you know how he gets when he is behind schedule,” I reminded her. “Are you forgetting who has to be on tour with him all the time?” she asked with a laugh.

Everyone else was eating the Subway we picked up on the way to the house. “Mummy!” Lux exclaimed as she ran into the living room. “What’s wrong, bug?” Lou asked her. “Lee is home!” She exclaimed. “Oh no! hide!” I exclaimed. Lou and I broke out into laughter.

“I’m so sorry I’m late!” Liam apologized as he entered the living room. He came over and kissed my check. “Did you have a good day?” I asked him. “Yes, I did,” he assured me with a smile. “You know, Maya, when two boy bands get together with Paul its like a massive party,” Lou joked.

“Sounds like it,” I laugh.  “Okay, Liam go change I laid your suit out on your bed,” Lou told him. “If it’s not Maya its you,” He chuckled as he walked off. “Do you always lay his clothes out for him?” she asked me. “No, just when he won’t get out of bed and we need to be somewhere,” I told her.

(Liam’s POV)

It was nice to think we were all getting together to celebrate something that was a happy occasion and not sitting around the hospital being sad and gloomy. I changed into the suit and tied my tie.  It’s crazy to think how fast time has flown by. I didn’t think I could ever love someone as much as I love Maya, but somehow along the way it happened.
