Chapter 2; Maybe Love is my Friend Afterall

10AM. *RING, RING, RING...*

An hour later of my phone going off non stop, i eventually woke up. I picked up my phone off my bed and had the pleasure of waking up to 10 missed calls and a text message. I checked to see who they were from. Jade.

"Aw, crap!" i yelled to myself.

I opened up my call list and cleared all the calls. I then read the message which read

*Megan, when you get this CALL ME, ITS URGENT WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT JAY LIKE NOW! 

I knew that if i called Jade, i'd get a mouthful for not answering my phone. But, she knows i'm a heavy sleeper so surely she should have had an idea i wouldn't wake up to my phone ringing. But i went into my contacts and called Jade. I really did wonder what happened with those two last night, did they just have a nice childhood chat? or was there more to this then i thought? There was only one way to find out...

"Oh, finally, you're awake!" Jade exclaimed.

"Yes, Jade i know you'd give me a mouthful down the phone, but let's just cut the crap and get down to it. So what happened last night?" i asked

"Hey, what's up with you this morning?" she asked

"Nothing" i replied "Just tell me about you and Jay."

"Well, i drove Jay to my place, it was an awkward ride to mine but when we walked in we just had a nice chat, you know we got to know each other more.."

"Tell me, is it the Jay you're on about?"

...

"Yes!" Jade exclaimed excitedly.

"No way, fo'real?!" i asked.

"Yeah, no joke, i mainly just had to ask for his last name, which is 'McGuiness', as soon as he told me, we just clicked, it's like i've fell in love with the same guy all over again, and to be truthful, after all these years i never thought we'd ever see each other again, never mind recognising each other in a club! My life is officially perfect now i've found Jay, and i never want to lose him again. Well, not now.."

"What do you mean, not now?" i gasped "Something happened last night, didn't it?! DETAILS!" i demanded to know what happened.

"You really wanna know?" she asked

"TELL ME NOW!" i demanded again.

"Okay, well we had a really deep conversation for about an hour, and it all of a sudden went silent.. i didn't know what to do, at first i thought he got bored and he'd leave. But, he didn't which i was quite surprised about. But, in the heat of the moment, i couldn't take it anymore, and i was about to lean in to kiss him. But before i could, he just pulled me in for a long, passionate kiss! I couldn't believe it, it was magic i felt the fireworks and EVERYTHING!" Jade replied almost too excitedly, but i don't blame her for being so excited.

"Really?! No way, that's great!" i replied.

"I know right?" ... "Anyway, i never got to ask you, when you stopped at the club with Nathan last night, anything happen with the two of you?" she asked.

"No, not really, we just had a couple of drinks, after about 3 hours he drove me home and he gave me his number as i got out the car, he told me to call him, but you know what i'm like, i get so nervous when it comes to talking to a guy, i never know what to say!" i worried.

"But, you like him right?" asked Jade

"So much, it feels like love at first sight with Nathan, it's like a love i've never felt before, unlike Josh and everyone else, i feel a special connection between me and Nathan, know what i mean?"

"Yeah, but if you like him you should tell him, especially with these feelings, and if he gave you his number and told you to call him, well, you shouldn't pass up the chance cause i'll admit, Nathan is a good looking guy and very genuine, and if i were you right now, i wouldn't even think twice about it, i'd be on the phone straight away!"

"True, but i'm just afraid." 

"Of what?"

"Falling in love."

There was a silence.

"But why?" asked Jade

"Cause, you've been there my entire life, you've seen me heartbroken by guys more than anyone, and if there were to be something with me and Nathan, i wouldn't want to screw it up and fall into the same position i did all those years ago." i explained.

"Megan, i thought you were over all that?" she asked

"I am over it, i'm over them all. But, Nathan is so nice and i don't want to feel like i'm not good enough for him." 

"Megan, any guy who falls for you would be stupid to think you're not good enough, and no i'm not saying that cause your my best friend, i'm saying it because it's true, cause in all honesty if i were a guy right, not saying this will happen, but if i were, i'd treat you how you should be and you'd be in my care so it would be my job to protect you, and i will obey to my duty, and believe me, the way Nathan kept looking at you last night, there's no question in my mind he would be the perfect example of everything i just said. So, if i were you i would stop putting yourself down all the time, alright?! cause you're a stunner and any guy would be lucky to have you, and Nathan should be that guy, so i suggest we end this conversation now and you call him, cause he's waiting for you." Jade explained, almost demanding me to just get myself into gear and call Nathan.

"Okay, i'll call him." i said.

"That a girl, tell me how it goes yeah!"

"Yeah"

"Okay then, well i guess it's bye for now" Jade laughed

"Jade?"

"Yeah?"

"Thankyou."

"What for?" she asked

"For being there for me when i need you, and for never giving up on me, you really are a true friend, you know that?" i explained.

"Aw, Meg of course i know that! and hey, stop being so soppy!" Jade laughed "Go on, call Nathan!"

"Okay, okay, i;m gonna call him now!"

"Alright then, talk to you in a bit then"

Jade hung up so i couldn't go onto something else so i'd have no choice but to call Nathan.. I took a deep breath. I'm incredibly nervous and no one's here to talk to him for me, so for the first time in my life, it looks like i'm on my own. I sighed as i dialed the number in my phone. I pressed the green phone. Here goes...

"Hello?"

"Hi, Nathan."

"Is this Megan?"

"It is yeah"

"Oh, hello! I've been waiting for your call!" Nathan replied almost excitedly.

"Really? You waited for me?" i asked

"Of course! Why wouldn't i?" 

"Oh, no reason" i awkwardly giggled to myself.

"Well, i'm glad you finally called, cause i really wanted to talk to you"

"Yeah, what about?" i asked anxiously.

"Well, about.. Us?" he said slowly.

"Us?"

"Yeah, um.. Okay, look i never wanted to be too forward in this, but i can't hold it in any longer so i'm just gonna say it." My heart began to pound. Oh no.. Good thing i'm always prepared for the worst when it comes to these kind of situations. "Would you go on a date with me?" he asked quickly.

I fell silent. What? did he seriously just ask me out on a date?!

"Yeaah, sure. Why not?" i giggled to myself.

"Great!" he replied happily. "So, tomorrow night? That okay?" he asked

"That's perfect" i replied.

"Cool, so i'll um, see you tomorrow then." he said slowly.

"Yes you will" i replied smiling to myself.

"See you later then."

"See you."

Nath hung up.

I sat there for a while, then suddenly screamed my house down. I couldn't believe this was really happening! Or was it? I had to pinch myself to make certain this wasn't a dream, although this all seemed too good to be true.

"OUCH!" I shouted to myself after pinching myself as hard as i could.

Well, i'm not dreaming i thought to myself with a huge grin on my face. Time to call Jade back. I went back into my contacts and highlighted her number, but just before i was about to press the green phone, i'd received a text message.. I went out my contacts and into my messages, it was from an unknown number. The text read

Nathan really likes you, since you two met last night, he's been going on about you non stop, and i'm sure he mentioned he was going to ask you out soon enough, i don't know if he's said anything to you yet, but i just thought you should know, and if he has spoke to you, then you should definately accept his offer, cause he's a great guy and i've never seen him this happy after meeting a girl before. You've really made a guy happy Megan, i just hope you can see that.

I read the text over and over. Wow, this makes me feel so much better now, not just about this whole Nathan thing, but i feel better about myself too! and the fact that i may just have the ability to be happy for once, just makes me feel fabulous! I went back into my contacts and called Jade back up.

"About time!" Jade laughed "So, what happened?" she asked.

"Um, well i think it's still sinking in. But, Nathan just asked me out on a date!" i exclaimed.

"What?! See i told you he liked you, you just gotta believe!!"

"Yeah, you're right, oh and did you give Jay my number?"

"No, why?"

"Oh, that's funny, cause i just received a text from him about Nathan, i'll send you the message later, but if you didn't give him my number, how'd he get it, and why would he want it?" i asked

"I have no idea, i'll ask him later as he's coming over soon. So, when's this date of yours, and where's it happening?"

"Well, we agreed tomorrow night, and i have no idea where, he never said?" i replied.

"Aw, i'm so happy for you right now! I think you're finally moving forward with you life, well love life" she giggled

"Yeah me to" i replied.

"So, do you think he could be the one?" she asked.

"Maybe. But, i guess i'll never know until tomorrow, cause we're not exactly an item, so.. But, i'm just gonna stay positive and hope it all goes well, cause i really like him, and judging by the conversation i had with him just now, and the text i had off Jay, i think he may just feel the same way." i replied smiling to myself.

"Aw, Megan! Oh, anyway i gotta go, Jay just got here so i'll speak to you later, oh and i'll let you know about the text and that" 

"Okay then, talk to you later."

I hung up.
