---(two days later)---Avengers pov:

For the past two days the Avengers have been working around the clock to try and find the mystery girl, Tony was complaining non-stop about it. It had never taken him this long to find anyone and he wasn't having it. The team (minus Stark who was late as usual) was currently sitting in the conference room because Director Fury had called an emergency meeting.

"Stark fashionably late as always I presume?" Fury called out as he entered the room, the annoyance was evident in this voice.

"Well, what else is new?" Tony's voice called out behind him as he also entered the room and sat down at his usual chair around the table.

"Glad you could finally join us Stark" Tony smirked at Fury but remained silent.

"Robbie Johnson," Fury said as he threw two files down on the table in front of them.

"He was found this morning with the information from the Hydra base you raided two days ago," Fury added as he put his hands behind his back. "I need you guys to interrogate him." With that, the one-eyed man left the room, leaving the Avengers shocked and confused.

"Wait... Clint, didn't you say it was a girl who stole the information?" Nat asked as she examined one of the files.

"Yeah, it was," Clint responded looking over her shoulder at the file she was reading.

"Maybe she sold the information?" Bucky questioned as he picked up the other file.

"That's definitely one way to get money." Stark scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"Let's go see what we can get from him," Steve said, getting to his feet and exiting the room with the Avengers trailing behind him.

-----

The Avengers were looking through the one-way mirror in the interrogation room as Natasha entered to try and scare Mr. Johnson into confessing.

"Where did you get this information?" Natasha questioned in a firm voice that made Robbie tremble slightly.

"I'm not sure what you're talking about." He responded, not looking her in the eye.

"Well, we both know that's a lie." Nat scoffed as she sat down in the chair across from him. Robbie visibly gulped which caused Nat to have to hold in a chuckle, there was no way that this was the man who had stolen the information from the Hydra base.

"So let's skip the stalling and get right to the point, shall we?" Nat smirked as Robbie gulped again and nodded his head slightly.

"It was a girl." Robbie started in a shaky voice.

"What girl?" Nat shot at him and he jumped in his chair.

"She does the missions, for money."

"Do you know her name?"

"People call her The Emerald Assassin Robbie answered as he finally looked Nat in the eyes.

"And how does The Emerald Assassin get these missions?" Nat questioned him further as Tony sent JARVIS to look into the girl.

"She had a website, she works for the highest bidder."

"And how much did you pay her to collect this information?"

"A few thousand dollars, a high price to pay but she never fails." Nat sighed as she squared her shoulders and looked Robbie right in the eyes.

"Where do I find this website of hers?"

"I can't tell you." His voice started shaking even more and he stared down at his fingers.

"You can't tell me?" Nat's interest peaked.

"She'll kill me" Nat took notice of his shaky hands and trembling lip.

"And we won't?" Her voice was calm but the threat hung heavy in the air.

"I'll tell you but..."

"But?"

"You have to lock me up for life." He raised his gaze to meet her eyes once more

"Lock you up?"

"You CAN'T let her find me." his voice raised slightly and Nat stood up quickly looking down at the trembling man before her.

"Deal"

"Ok so..."

Ashlyn's pov:

Ash sighed as she wiped the blood on her hands onto the shirt of the dead man now lying before her on the ground. Ash stood up quickly and put a smile on her face. She grabbed the bag of money laying on the ground and brushed the dust off her clothes.

"And this is why you don't annoy me" Ash knew that it was very likely that the police would find his body but she didn't care. He was pissing her off and he got what he deserved. Ash pulled out her phone and dialed Maya's number.

"Hello?" Maya's voice was heard from the other end of the call.

"Hey, Maya it's me." Ash started making her way out of the abandoned warehouse.

"Done already? That was fast."

"He was getting on my nerves!" Ash could practically hear the eye-roll that Maya was giving her

"Ash that's the third time this week! If you keep killing people, we're going to run out of clients." Ash just chuckled and slung the black bag over her shoulder.

"Nah, someone's gotta do the dirty work. What's for dinner? I'm hungry." Ash asked as if nothing had happened. Ash heard Maya's sigh.

"Well I don't feel like cooking so maybe we should get takeout?" Maya suggested.

"Works for me, pizza?"

"Yeah, that's good. You want your usual?"

"Yup, see you soon!" Ash hung up the phone and placed the bag of money on the backside of her motorcycle.

---(time skip)---

Ash didn't waste any time digging into her pizza as she sat down at the kitchen table.

"You got a new possible client," Maya told Ash as she also started eating.

"How much?"

"One point five million" Ash spit out the coke that she had just taken a big sip of.

"Wow," was the only thing she could say as she gathered herself again.

"I know right, imagine how hard the mission would be though."

"Who's it from anyways? Who has that much money just lying around?"

"That's a good question, lemme check." Maya opened the laptop that was sitting beside her on the table and started typing.

"Huh, it's a private account, give me a sec." Maya kept typing as her eyebrows furrowed "Wow...." Ash stopped eating and looked at Maya who had a shocked expression.

"What is it?" Ash was starting to worry.

"The offer is from Tony Stark." Ash did a double-take and stole the laptop from Maya. Sure enough, Maya had hacked into the private account only to find Tony Stark had been the one to send the offer.

"Tony Stark as in Iron Man? As in the Avengers? As in the world's mightiest heroes? What would he need with me?."

"Didn't you say you ran into the Hawkeye at that hydra base? Maybe they are trying to figure out who you are, it might be a trap." Maya tried to hide her worried expression but Ash saw right through her.

"Wow Ash, the Avengers are trying to catch you!" Liam let out a laugh as Maya turned to glare at him.

"Liam this isn't funny!!!!"

"I don't know." Ash took another bite of her pizza. "It's kinda funny." Maya sighed and shook her head at the two, turning her attention back to the pizza slice in front of her.

Avengers pov:

"Ok the offer is sent, now we wait." Tony sighed out as he stopped typing on his computer.

"Do you think she'll take it?" Steve sounded unsure.

"With that amount of money? Of course she'll take it." Tony said exasperatedly.

"What should the mission be?" Sam asked from the corner of the room where he was digging into an ice cream cone.

"We could send her to another hydra base," Clint suggested.

"We offered her one point five million dollars, the mission has to be a little harder than that," Nat explained as if she were talking to a toddler.

"Can't you just hack the website and see where she is or something?" Sam asked.

"Don't you think I tried that?! Probably copied some of my tech because I couldn't get through."

"We could send her after one of us," Bucky suggested. Everyone turned to look at Natasha.

"Why me?!"

"Because there's absolutely no way that she could beat you," Clint responded in the same childlike tone that Nat had talked to him with.

"Fine" Nat let out a sigh of defeat. There was a slight ding from the computer and Tony started typing again.

"Seems our little criminal accepted the offer," Tony smirked at the rest of the group.

"Somebody needs to meet her at the abandoned clothes store tomorrow night at seven," Tony added as there was another ding from the computer.

"Who should we send?" Clint asked.

"Who would scare her the most?" Tony asked.

"Besides Nat? Probably Bucky" Sam pointed out.

"Bucky isn't scary," Steve butted in.

"Speak for yourself Cap," Tony replied, eyeing Bucky warily, Bucky just smirked at him.

"Wear a jacket though to hide the metal arm, she can't know who you are." Nat reminded him and he nodded at her.
