Smg4 Fanfiction: Crystal Splezter - Nightmares

Plot: Recovering from the near-apocalypse isn't easy for everyone...

(September 2nd - 2021)

Crystal watched with a big smile on her face, watching as Melony raced forward, sword spinning as she dashed towards Eldrich Axol's head...

But her face dropped at what happened next.

Breaking free from Mario's grip, Eldrich Axol grabbed ahold of Melony in his giant fist. Then as he squeezed his hand tighter...

A scream yelled out before a sickening crunch.

Crystal couldn't believe her eyes, couldn't comprehend what she was seeing or the yells of anguish around her.

As Eldrich Axol started applying all his force into killing Mario, everyone rushed forward in a futile effort to stop him...

But all Crystal could do was watch as they were slaughtered before her very eyes. First Uncle Mario, then Bob, Boopkins, all the Smg's...

Her Momma, Tari's hand reaching out to her before her torso was severed from her legs.

And Her Mommy, Meggy's lifeless tearful eyes looking back at her blankly.

The cries of anguish didn't stop, until Crystal realised that is was her crying out. A dark shadow enveloped her, the one she's once Knew as her uncle Axol, now replaced by a complete monster...

Eldrich Axol: Just another worthless, pathetic...glitch...

Then he rose his Inkweaver hand in the air as Crystal screamed out for Meggy...

Before he brought it down on her.

...

Crystal screeched as she sprung up from her bed, clutching her teddy bear in her arms.

It took her a minute to realise that it was just a dream, sighing in relief as she saw the dull moon light coming from her windows.

Unable to sleep and feeling her heart beat faster then ever before, she climbed out of bed.

She took a moment to look at her drawings on the wall, looking back...

Crystal: What do you think Mr Axol?

Axol: Woah! You've gotten good at drawing little one, even at your young age.

Crystal: Do you think I could be as good as you one day?

Axol: Well...Maybe you could be?

Crystal smiled, hugging Axol. He stuttered for a minute, but hugged back.

She remembered that like it was yesterday...

Now, when she looked at the picture of Axol...

Eldrich Axol: You can have his body back when I'm done.

All she saw was the face of a monster that nearly killed everyone.

She looked at the floor, tears coming to her eyes...

Then she broke onto the floor...and cried...

Crystal (Whispered tone): M-mommy?

Before she knew it, she was sneaking into her Mom's bedroom in the middle of the night and trying to shake her awake.

Although Tari still remained peacefully asleep, Meggy began to stir as she rolled over and opened her eyes. She looked at Crystal in a scolding manner.

Meggy (Whispered tone): Crystal, it's too early for this. Please, go back to sleep.

Crystal stepped back, but the sound of heavy sniffing drew Meggy's attention. She looked up in surprise.

Crystal's eyes were bloodshot and puffy, clear signs she'd been crying and awake for a long time. Her teddy bear was locked into her arms, like she'd die if she let go of it. It clicked to her immediately.

Meggy: Crystal, did you have another nightmare?

She was silent, merely nodding.

Meggy: Was it...about uncle Axol again?

Meggy knew Crystal had been having nightmares after everything with Zero, but never this bad before. Getting teary again, she nodded.

Meggy: Aw...Come here Sunshine...

Crystal broke any signs of keeping her act up, running and hugging Meggy as she cried her heart out.

Crystal: I...I thought I'd lose you...I thought I'd lose everyone!

Meggy: Shh, Shh, shhh. It's okay baby girl, I'm here, I'm okay. We're all okay...

Tari: Mmm.....what...going on?

Tari stirred awake, but one look made her realise what was happening.

Crystal hugged Meggy even tighter, refusing to let go.

Crystal: He's gone...he's gone and I couldn't do anything!

Meggy: Crystal, there's nothing you could've done-

Crystal: No! I...I should've done something more! What if it was you, or Momma or anyone else?!

Her eyes flashed orange through tears, the lights flickering as a nearby car alarm was going off.

Meggy: Crystal, calm down! Breathe...

Meggy saw that her daughter was on the verge of either a heart or a panic attack, which could be very dangerous with these new powers of hers. She managed to calm down a bit as the nearby lights and alarm shut off, so Meggy tried something else.

Meggy: You wanna stay in the bed with me and momma for the night?

She nodded vigorously. She looked at Tari and she gave a warm smile of approval.

Meggy used her motherly strength to lift Crystal over her head, putting her between the two. She got them comfortable as Crystal squirmed.

Meggy: It's okay Crystal, We all miss uncle Axol, but nothing that happened was your fault. It was all that...thing, not you.

Crystal began to relax a bit, settling into the bed.

Meggy: M-mommy?

Meggy: Yeah?

Crystal: Promise me you won't leave me...

Meggy: Crystal...

She kissed her forehead, hugging her.

Meggy: Your my only daughter Crystal and that means more then anything. You can always count on me to be around...I promise.

Smiling for the first time that night, she snuggled into the bed and fell asleep quickly...

Meggy: Sleep Well Sunshine...nothing bad will happen to you as long as I'm around...
