The Beach

*Luke's p.o.v*

I hadn't replied and Calum suddenly waved a hand in front of my face, making me jump.

"See? I knew it," he said, grinning at me

"Okay... Maybe I do," I confessed running a hand through my hair, exasperatedly

"Haha, yes!" Calum yelled, punching the air

"I mean, no! Err, yes! Oh, I don't know!!" I cried. "I mean, I think I do... But -"

"But she's Ash's twin sister" Calum finished

"Exactly," I sighed

*Alyssa's p.o.v*

Me and Ashton arrived home and I crawled into bed, dreaming of what Luke looked like in swimming trunks...

Ashton shook me awoke the next morning.

"No, dad, I don't wanna go to school," I moaned and rolled over, still pretty much asleep. I wanted to get back to the current dream I was having about Luke

"It's not your Dad, it's Ash, stupid. You're not going to school, we're going to the beach with the lads," Ashton said, poking me in the arm

At the words "going to the beach with the lads", I was up like a shot.

"C'mon, I think Mum's making croissants for breakfast," Ashton called, leaving the room.

We headed downstairs and found a large plate topped with warm croissants. There was also chocolate milkshakes, Nutella and butter out. It was delicious and we both ate until there was nothing left.

"We should probably get dressed, it's 10:00 already and the guys are coming in a half hour," Ashton said, checking his watch

"Shit!" I yelled

"What?!" Ashton replied, startled

"I look utter crap and they're going to be here soon!" I cried, as if it was obvious.

"Okay, one: relax, you've got ages, two: you don't even look bad and three: why do you care so much? They're practically family, they'll see you at your best and your worst," Ashton said, earnestly

"Okay... I suppose you're right. Still we had better get ready!" I replied, smiling at my brother.

We headed upstairs and got changed. I decided to put on my bikini (red with white spots, just in case you were wondering) under my clothes so they're wasn't anything awkward about changing when we arrived. I pulled on a light blue best top and tied a sarong type skirt around my waist. I had just finished brushing my teeth when the doorbell rang. I took one last look in the mirror and hurried downstairs.

Ashton had beaten me to the door and I found the four of them sitting on the sofa watching Spongebob on TV.

"How childish?" I joked, grinning at them

"We wouldn't be watching if you hadn't taken so long!" Michael joking, checking his watch and then remembered that he, in fact, wasn't wearing one

"Yeah, we've been here AGES!" Luke said, acting serious

"Nice try, Luke, I heard the door bell," I laughed, nudging him with my foot

"Good one, Luke!" Calum laughed, punching him playfully on the shoulder

"Everyone's picking on me today!" Luke whimpered and started to pretend cry

"Grow up and take it like a man, Hemmings! Are we going to the beach or not?!" I replied

"Yeah, come on," Ashton said, standing up.

Soon we were all out the door.

"How far is the beach anyway?" I asked

"About half an hour, but I'm gonna drive us all in the van," Michael replied

"Okay," I said, and as the van came into view I yelled "shotgun!" meaning that I got to sit in the front

"Nice," said Ashton, grinning at me, "No one in the family has ever beaten me at that before!"

"Get used to it," I winked and climbed in the front seat.

I usually hated car journeys as I found them sinfully boring but that was before I had been on one with the 5sos lads. We played stupid games like "I spy" and sang along - very loudly - to Michael's Green Day CD. I sat looking out the side window at all of Australia's natural beauty. Sounds weird but it was quite beautiful.

"We're here!" Ashton yelled and I turned and looked out the windscreen. The sea was a gorgeous coloured blue and the sunlight bounced off the waves in sparkles that looked like crystals. The sand was golden and they're was hardly any people on it. I was staring at the beach, awestruck when I realised that all the boys were smiling at me.

"What?" I asked

"Nothing," Ash replied

"It's just we love people's first reaction to this beach!" Calum said

"I'm not surprised, it's breathtaking!" I grinned

"C'mon let's go! We didn't drive here just so we could look at it from the car!" Michael cried and we all piled out of the car.

*Luke's p.o.v*

I couldn't help but watch Alyssa's reaction to the beach; it was so cute! She looked like a little girl who got the barbie she had wanted for Christmas - excited, happy... All the good feeling in the world. We all climbed out the car and ran onto the soft sands. We were the only people on the beach apart from an old couple who were walking the other way from us. We ran down to the waters edge and all held hands as the water splashed over our toes. I was holding one of Alyssa's hands and it felt good.

"How come no one's here?" Alyssa asked

"Because no one really knows that this beach is here!" Ashton laughed from Alyssa's other side

"The only people who know are us, our parents and a few families from our street!" I added

"How come?" Alyssa said, curiously

"I dunno, this isn't the main beach, people go to the beach that most people go to, they are happy with it, and so they don't go looking for a better place," Michael shrugged

"That's fine by me!" Alyssa laughed.

God, she was cute when she smiled!

*Alyssa's p.o.v*

"I know what we should do!" I cried

"What?" Ashton asked

"I used to play this game with my friends back in California, right? You can have as many teams as you like but the teams have to be teams of two. One person from the team gets on the shoulders of their partner and has to try to push other people off that person's partner," I explained

"That sounds really good, except for the fact that there are five of us," Luke pointed out.

"What we can do is get into two teams of two and the person who isn't in a team can referee. Then the ref decides who out of the losing team they want to swap with," I suggested

"Sounds awesome!" Ash laughed

"Definitely!" Michael agreed

"I think it should be me and Alyssa against two of you guys," Ashton said, laughing. "We Irwins stick together!"

"I guess I am an Irwin now," I said, surprised. I hadn't really thought about it before.

"Why? What were you before?" Ashton asked, puzzled

"I had my Dad's last name, Smith. I guess Mum took her maiden name back when she and Dad divorced," I explained

"I mean, um, you can stay a Smith if you want," Ashton replied, clearly thinking he shouldn't of said what he did.

"No," I said, firmly. "I want to be an Irwin,"

So the teams were finally decided: me and Ashton against Michael and Luke to fight first. Before we went in the water though, we had to change into our swim wear. The lads were already wearing their trunks as normal shorts so they just had to pull off their t- shirts. I couldn't help staring at Luke's tanned, toned torso but I pulled my eyes away when I realised that the boys were waiting for me. We all waded into the water until it was up to our waists. I climes on Ashton's shoulders and Michael climbed onto Luke's. The two of them were a lot taller than us two, as Luke was basically a tree boy - he was 6ft something while I was only 5"2.

"Ready, set... go!" Calum yelled, treading water

Ashton and Luke set off towards each other and started fighting to get each other in the water. Michael wobbled, and I took my chance and pushed him on his chest. He fell backwards and landed with a splash in the water.

"WE WON!!" Me and Ash yelled in unison.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Michael laughed, shaking water out of his green hair.

*Luke's p.o.v*

We had about four more of these team fight things and then it came down to the final - Me and Alyssa against Michael and Calum.

"Three, two, one, GO!" Ashton yelled from the water and me, being on the bottom started forward towards Michael who was also at the bottom. I had an advantage though - Michael was seriously, seriously ticklish. I reached out a ticked him everywhere I could reach. Michael laughed ecstatically and both he and Calum toppled over.

"VICTORY!!" I yelled, and bent forward, tipping Alyssa into the water.

"Hey! We're meant to be on the same team!" Alyssa laughing, resurfacing

"Oh well!" I replied, also laughing.

As I watched Alyssa laugh, the water clutching onto her eyelashes, her eyes shining with happiness, I had the strongest sudden urge to reach over and kiss her...
