Ch.24: The forbidden Perception's move

Katsuki surely made true to his words and now all insecurities Sisipho had are long gone, due to all love and affection the blonde gave to her on that unforgettable night.

However, the couple talked seriously about this odd misunderstanding right after and decided to use it as a lesson for life, mostly for Bakugou.

He can't bottle up his feelings or it'll hurt not only himself but the ones who love him too.

The ash-blonde boy took this to his heart because he saw how a tiny thing became so big in just a few days. Communication isn't his thing, definitely it wasn't part of his creation, but if this will help him to don't hurt Sisi again, he'll do it gladly.

So now the couple is on good terms again, focusing only on their mission. From the data they stole there are some coordinates and a lot of encrypted codes, so Amazon had to send all of this to her team since this isn't their area anymore. The couple had to busy themselves with paperwork and patrolling until a new hint comes from this.

Sisipho and Katsuki are patrolling in a park now, watching some families having a good time together. Between their talks and teases, the black hero felt a tug on her dress; from a baby boy.

But not just any boy, this kid is half Japanese just like her, his beautiful light brown skin, tiny green eyes, and hair with some timid curls giving him away.

Sisipho's eyes widened by seeing this handsome baby from under her blindfold, which she removed to give him all of her attention.

"Wow~ You like me!" he said with a cute tiny voice, pointing to her and jumping on his small toes.

"Aw~ Yes, baby! I am! We're both so beautiful!" she crouched down to his level and her partner did the same, also fascinated with the boy. "What's your name?"

"Luka! You Dat light!" he giggled, his eyes shining, looking her all over in awe.

"Yes, I am Darklight! How do you know me?"

"You were on my tv! With him!" he pointed to DYNMT. "And pretty Amazon! I like you~"

"Oh my gods, you're so cute!!" she said awing the baby boy who just hugged her neck with his tiny arms, refusing to let go. "Where are your parents, Luka?"

"Hmm?? Papa?!" he looked around but didn't see who he was looking for, his eyes immediately filling up with tears. "No... I want papa~"

"Hey~ Don't worry, we'll find him. Let's search papa together? Just like hide and seek!" with his nod, Darklight carried the boy in her arms and both heroes started to walk. "How is your papa?"

"Like me!" he said pointing at himself

"Really? And your mama?"

"Like him! But black hair!" he pointed at DYNMT, who only shook his head smiling with his cuteness.

"Wow~ That's why you're so handsome like that?" the little boy giggled all shy. "And what about this cute laugh~?"

Sisipho did everything to keep the boy distracted, meanwhile Katsuki is watching them in awe. The girl is good at dealing with people, no matter their age. This will make her a great pro hero and he can only look up to her even more.

After a while of walking around the park, the duo saw a tall man that looks identical to the boy, except for his round eyes; Luka had the characteristic Japanese eyes of his mother.

Darklight manipulate the man to turn to them and the father sighed in relief seeing his baby with some heroes.

"Luka!! Where were you? Why did you run from me?" he asked, carrying the baby in his arms.

"Look papa, is her! She's like us!" only now the man noticed Sisipho, staring at her in shock. "I walk to her, is Dat light!"

"Wow! You're the hero Darklight!! Daughter of Amazon!! I'm a huge fan of you two!"

"Yeah, that's me. And this is my partner DYNMT. We're working together to be pro heroes in a couple of years."

"You both will make it! I saw you two on the news, good job stopping those villains!! Wow, DYNMT!! Your costume is even cooler from close!"

"Thank you!" they said in sync, bowing at the man and with their hearts warm due to so much enthusiasm towards them.

"Sorry, but I need to ask, where are you from?" he asked the black girl.

"Oh, my mom is from Africa, just a small tribe on the east, and I was born here so I'm an African-Japanese basically."

"Wow~ The fact that you two got so far here in Japan is amazing!! You can't imagine how happy you make my boy feels. He never saw someone like him before, so when you appeared on the news he got super euphoric!"

"Ow~ I know how this feels like... Hey, Luka! Keep in mind that's great to be different, ok? Don't forget that this makes us very unique and beautiful. Don't let anyone say otherwise!"

"Unhm got it! Unique and beautiful!" his toothless smile melted their hearts.

"From where are you, mister..." DYNMT asked.

"Oh, you can call me Bruno. I'm from Brazil!"

"Wow, this is far..." Katsuki commented.

"Yeah, but what don't we do for love, huh?" he smiled dreamily saying this, and his phone started to ring. "Oh, talking about her! Your mama arrived, Luka! Heroes, thank you so much for helping my boy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys! Soon I wanna see the best duo ever as pro heroes! Bye-bye!!"

The sympathetic man waved to them, running to meet his lover.

"What an experience..." Katsuki said smiling, motioning the girl to walk.

"I know, right?! I wasn't expecting this at all, like never! It's so hard to find different races here in Japan... That was cool! But I just knew this guy is from Brazil only by seeing his demeanor. These people truly are super warm and lovely."

"How do you know?" he eyed her sideways.

"There's one Brazilian family in Wakanda and all of their babies are just like Luka and Bruno. They're so lovely and full of happiness. One of the warmest people I ever met."

"Didn't know that in Wakanda is possible to live people from another place."

"You should know better, my boo. When love is involved, everything is possible~" she winked at him, smirking because he was blushing.

"Shut up... Now I want to kiss you, damnit."

Laughing at his pouting face, the heroes continued patrolling, waiting for Amazon to call them back with news, meanwhile, Katsuki complained all the way about not being able to kiss her during hero hours.

Amazon's team took a while to decrypt the codes and only a week later that DYNMT and Darklight had a lead to where to go. This let the pro hero a bit suspicious because it too much effort into such a "small crime".

This mission they're doing is about some villains using a charitable institution's name to do money laundering. To what purpose? Still unknown. They already found enough shreds of evidence in the data stolen to arrest some people, however, now the heroes will need to catch the men in the act too.

The mission still is all of the two teens, that will need to get in and arrest everyone inside an abandoned facility that was tracked as the main hideout. Already in position, looking at the area from a tall building, the duo is making a plan.

"If we use the broken window on the third floor we'll be able to enter without being noticed." Katsuki said observing the place with his binoculars.

"You're right. Do you have some flexicuffies with you?" she asked checking her hidden pockets for hers and he nodded. "There's fifteen of them inside. If we manage to knock them out stealthily it'll be easier."

"No promises, babe." she rolled eyes at his wink.

Using their quirks, they moved to the roof of the building, that's at the end of an empty street. Amazon is observing them from the distance, ready to go for backup if they need it.

Following the plan, both entered the third floor and went separate ways, to eliminate the targets more quickly.

It was easier for Darklight since she can sense where everyone is and what they're doing. However, she knocked the men physically, using her quirk only to keep herself aware of her surroundings, as her mother ordered.

And thanks to this, she was able of noticing something very wrong happening.

'Umama?!' she thought to herself confusedly feeling her mother's essence approaching quickly and straight to the highest floor. When she understood what was happening, it was too late.

The loud sound of the burst of gunfire and the scream of DYNMT echoed through the whole building. This definitely shouldn't be happening, because Darklight analyzed everyone earlier and no one had any kind of arsenal with them.

Darklight immediately forced everything inside the building to stop, her blood running cold because of the painful aura she just felt, praying for her perception to be wrong at least in this one.

She ran to where Amazon and Katsuki are, not understanding how she didn't feel a gun beforehand.

Arriving on the second floor, she saw a man with his right hand transformed into a gun. When her eyes met his and then fell to the bleeding pro hero on the floor, her action was instantaneous.

In one millisecond, all bodies in the building fell hard on the floor, suffering a slow and painful brain hemorrhage, bleeding from all of their holes till death.

Sisipho couldn't care less now.

Darklight ran closer to her mother, who was in DYNMT's arms, crouching down to look at the fatal wounds on her limp body.

"Oh my gods! Hey, umama, talk to me!" she patted her face repeatedly, but she was out cold.

"I'm... I'm so sorry, Sisi... I didn't see him! Mandla tried to stop the shots with some rocks but-"

"It's my fault, I should've paid more attention to their quirks... Fuck!" Sisipho ripped the skirt of her costume and use the fabric to stop the bleeding of the three bullet holes, with Katsuki's help. "P-Please call the emergency... We need to stop all this bleeding, umama is almost gone..."

Katsuki grabbed his phone and called for help. Meanwhile, Sisipho is trying desperately to stop the blood, but it's becoming impossible. One of them, in her left shoulder, definitely hit a vital vein.

Mandla's heart is about to stop.

"No, no, no... " hyperventilating, Sisi started to cry in desperation. "Umama, I'm sorry..."

"Calm down, babe. They'll be here in a few."

"Too long... Umama... Oh my, Katsuki, she's dying!" now the blonde is also in a panic, putting more pressure on her wounds. "I can't... I'm not letting her die!"

"Hey, what-" his eyes widened in the realization by seeing the conviction in hers. "NO!! YOU SAID THAT HEALING OTHERS WOULD KILL YOU!"

"SHE IS MY MOTHER! AND IS MY FUCKING FAULT SHE'S DYING!" her eyes are red from so much crying, piercing through his natural ones, her whole body shaking with the adrenaline.

"I'm not letting you kill yourself, Sisipho!"

"You don't understand, her life is almost gone! She lost enough blood to keep her stuck in a coma for weeks already! IF I DON'T DO SOMETHING NOW UMAMA WILL DIE!"

Sisipho threw Katsuki against the wall behind him with her quirk, keeping him stuck in place. The blonde yelled and cried for her to stop, but she didn't.

Concentrating all of her perception on Mandla's wounds, Sisi removed the bullets out, soon manipulating her mother's veins and flesh together. The girl is forcing an accelerated and unnatural regeneration, by reconnecting blood vessels, and muscles and even forcing some cells to multiply.

Never before has Sisipho had to concentrate so hard on something, but she's putting all of her knowledge into this because she has a short time to act and needs to at least stop Mandla's bleeding.

"STOP!! PLEASE, SISI!! STOOOP!" the boy yelled fiercely, his anguish increasing by seeing her whole body glowing in golden energy, illuminating the room and beyond, almost blinding him.

But still visible to anyone that the more she does for her mother, the more her own body decay, since she's practically giving her essence to save a life, because at this point if she uses any of Mandla's it would only accelerate her death.

It didn't take too long for Sisi to start to bleed too, shaking and crying painfully, but she continued. Sisipho surely is determined to do all of them walk out of this mission alive, including herself.

"Sisi... Please, I can't lose you..." Katsuki at this point is crying fat tears. "I LOVE YOU DAMMIT, YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME!!"

The black hero chuckled weakly, rising her eyes to meet his, she barely can focus on anything, only seeing a blur of the blonde. Even in a moment like this, her heart couldn't help but melt with his words.

"Trust me... I... I'll never leave yo-" too weak to finish her sentence, Sisipho fainted on the floor while her glow faded out completely, freeing the other two of her influence.

Katsuki immediately ran to her, carrying the girl into his arms, calling and crying for her to wake up, but in vain. However is noticeable that both Ashido, even though barely breathing, are still alive.

A couple of minutes later the police force and emergence arrived, assuming the mission and taking the heroes to the hospital. Katsuki called Orion from there to notify him and the males met each other in the cold hallways from the waiting room later.

Bakugou explained everything to him and Orion sighed sadly that Sisipho got stuck in such a situation. He explained more details about the reason Sisi's capacity for healing is forbidden and that's due to be a move more drainer than the mental overflowing, taking huge amounts of her essence.

Sisipho has been blessed with the quirk of percept everything, but she is not allowed to just bend life at her will, mostly when it's so close to death. So the price she pays for doing this is high. The closer to death, the more deadly to herself.

Suddenly a known man by Ashido, who's the family's doctor, came to talk with the males and wiped out all of their worries.

"Mrs. Mandla is out of risk, thanks to your daughter, Mr. Orion. She's almost completely healed, but as she lost a lot of blood we're treating her to revert this. Due to the shock her body suffered, decaying fast and then being brought back in seconds, she'll be in a medically induced coma until we stabilize the situation entirely."

"What about my daughter?!"

"She's fine, actually the young Sisipho has awakened already. Even though using her quirk to do something so risky as to manipulate life, she managed to stay within her limits and didn't cause any irreparable damage to herself, just the usual ones that we already treated here before."

"Really?!" they asked surprised.

"Hm, yes. Sisipho did a good job this time. Maybe if she had tried to reverse Amazon's damage completely at once, the consequences definitely would be worst, but instead, she focused on only keeping Mrs. Mandla alive. However now she'll need a lot of rest. We're already giving all medications and supplements your daughter always needs when she overuses her quirk, so don't worry."

The doctor smiled at the worried males, explaining a few more things and soon guiding them firstly to where the youngest one is resting.

Inside a private hospital room, Sisipho is sat on her bed, sipping through the straw an odd liquid, the supplements, and vitamins she needs, from inside an even odder bottle.

The girl is looking at the wall before her with distant eyes.

"Oh... Hi." she waved to them quietly, 'cause she knows that they're are upset with her.

"Baby girl, you almost gave me a heart attack!" Orion was the first to approach, hugging her tightly and scolding too.

Katsuki silently walked to the bed and sat by her opposite side, hugging the small waist sideways, and then laid his chin over her shoulder.

Meanwhile, the daughter and father are talking, Bakugou's mind just went far away, back to the terrible mission they just had. The scenes repeat themselves over and over.

The villain sneaking behind him. He failing to notice at the time. The gun appearing in his hand. His not quick enough reaction. The shots. Mandla taking it all in his place. The bloody and limp body falling on his arms.

His guilty.

The blonde stayed quiet while the family talked, watching Orion scolding and loving his daughter, talking with the nurse, and soon walking out to see Mandla.

Sisipho noticed Katsuki's strange behavior since the moment he walked in. She expected him to scold her too or say something, but instead, he kept facing nothing.

"I'm sorry, Kat..." she murmured to him, who only stayed in the same position. "I didn't mean to scare everyone like this, is just..."

"I know, she's your mother, I feel you. It's not your fault..." he sighed sadly. "It was my fault!"

"Wait, what? No, no! I could have known that this would happen, but I didn't! It was my fault! I should've paid more attention to their quirks. If I did, nothing of this would've happened!!"

"Hey, calm down, ok? Please, don't cry... It only makes me feel worst about myself." he kissed her tears away gently, resting his forehead on hers. "It's hard for me to not blame myself when I almost lose you and... Almost made you lose your mother."

"Kat, please..." she pleads.

"Shh, let's rest a bit... I just want to hold you close now. I'm... I'm still scared..."

Nodding Sisipho lay with him on the hospital bed, both cuddling tightly and trying to forget this awful day.

The young heroes still have a lot to learn, mostly about how to deal with the outcomes of an unsuccessful mission now. They're trying to deal with these anguish feelings in the best way they can, even though sleep the worries away it won't work so well.

However, now it's time for the experienced ones in that matter, the pro heroes and adults, to teach the teens about how to deal with this.

It's time for them to learn about the pains of being a hero.
