Chapter 27

Hundreds and hundreds of books were stacked over one another, each one containing colorful notes slipped in between pages. The sound of clicking pen and the swift flipping of pages was all that was heard.

Lhexi sat on the floor with her legs crossed, her fist encasing a pen while supporting her chin and on her other hand was a book. Her eyes moved speedily from side to side, taking her less than a minute to flip to another page.

"Hmm...", she furrowed her eyebrows in slight annoyance before clicking her pen again. She bit her lower lip as angry veins pop on her forehead before she finally exploded. "CAN YOU SHUT UP FOR A MOMENT ASUNA?! I'M STUDYING HERE!"

The voice in her head just laughed, very much contented at the girl's displeasure.

Mah. It's so boring here~

"Shut up and just tell me what you want!", Lhexi shouted, if she could have seen Asuna's grin, she would have murdered her already.

Let's switch~

Lhexi sighed for the nth time today before rolling her eyes. "Anything but that."

Why?

Alexa found her eyes glued back on the book. "You're dangerous. And I don't know what you might do."

The voice in her head scoffed before it hid itself, silence lingering in the darkness surprising even Lhexi. She just sighed again but this time relieved, silently thanking the god out there.

She finished reading a couple number of books about the Shinobi World in a short span of time before she finally stood up and stretched her sore muscles. Quickly picking up her black yukata on the floor, she wore it and fixed herself up and checked if she had all the materials she needs. Ranging from shurikens, kunai knives, paperbombs, soldier pills, and different sets of clothes sealed in a scroll. 

As she was about to open the door out of her apartment, she looked back and glanced at the sword she got from Kenma. Smiling to herself, she rushed back and attached it on her back before finally getting out before locking the door.

She hummed happily, excited for the Chunin exams for she would finally be able to fight and/or slaughter some kids. As long at they're not canon characters, she doesn't really care. She still have her own problems to deal with, including that was her bloodlust to kill.

Walking alone on the empty halls of the building, not a sound was heard for her steps was quiet. She turned to the right only to bump into someone, her face buried to the man's sturdy chest, secretly inhaling his manly scent.

'I didn't sense him...'

Loser.

Lhexi sighed at the voice that once appeared.

She stepped back a little, rubbing her nose before looking up. "Gomenasai...I wasn't looking properly...", her eyes widened at the sight of his face.

Alexa's POV

'Kyuuji-nii?'

It felt like Asuna's and I's voices merged for split second. And one thing that I noticed was how innocent, fragile and broken her voice was. It didn't sounded like how I usually hear her voice.

Anyway, I have to focus on this hot man infront of me. It surprised me that I didn't break down.

He looks just like in the past, only taller and a lot more masculine, his ripping muscles were visible under his dark green jacket. His brown velvety hair that can make girls jealous, was longer it went passed his waist as it was tied into a low ponytail. His eyes that used to be so soft and so warm now looked completely lifeless and cold.

Now that I finally met him face to face, I can tell he was completely different from before. Those piercing chilly eyes can literally shake me to my knees and his presence although hardly noticeable was mysterious and bone-chilling, it felt like I was in Antartica.

The man who used to be so kind and sweet to me was gone and was replaced with this enigmatic and forbidding shinobi who have seen the true horrors of this world with his very own eyes. I don't understand why in that span of second I didn't felt any hatred towards him, rather I felt pity.

He was a person who lacked love and comfort, and all this time he was alone and lonely. I had this urge inside me to embrace him into my arms.

I smiled at him. "...do you possibly live around here?"

He did not spared me a single glance and walked pass me. I was stupefied on my feet with an idiotic face and the feeling of getting completely ignored, is like getting turned down by someone I just confessed to which I've liked for years since high school.

I turned around to see him gone. I blinked my eyes before heat rushed to my cheeks in embarassment. The feeling of being unimportant rushing to my veins, I haven't felt this in forever since my past life. This was the first time I was ignored and treated like a rock.

My eyes widened when I remembered about the girl.

'...Asuna?'

No response.

I clutch my head and rubbed my temples.

'You okay?'

No answer.

How could I have forgotten that Asuna hates him so much? She loved and trusted that man but, he betrayed and killed her.

'Hey! Stop ignoring me!'

I pinch the bridge of my nose, my head hurting from the stress. Sighing, I let her alone for now, she might not talk for atleast a day.

Kyuuji comes later, I have to focus on the exam for now.

I run on the streets jumping to a roof to another heading towards the academy. Once I arrived there, Itsuki was leaning against a pole waiting for the rest of the team. He's early, just like always. I jog up to him to see him smile a little at the sight of me.

"Where's Yuri-san?", I asked and he pointed his thumb towards her who was reading the map on the bulletin boards.

'That map wasn't there before...', I thought silently in my head.

"She's thinking of a plan conaidering this is her 2nd time participating in the chunin exams.", Itsuki stated as we walk to her direction.

"Eh...she must have experience then."

He nodded. "Hm."

She turned towards us as she write something on her notebook. "You're finally here!"

"I hope I wasn't late...", she waved me off before suddenly yanking both of us to the back of the academy.

We sat down, grouped together as she drew something on the ground witn a stick.

"Listen guys, there are 3 stages in the exam, the first is a written test paper, 2nd is probably a team vs team then finally the third is where the remaining examinees fight one on one.", Yuri stated.

"Is that what happened six months ago?", Itsuki asked and she nodded.

She brought out something from her pouch. "I'm not quite sure where the second stage will happen but, most likely it would be a forest. And this is the hardest phase guys. We would have to scavenge for food and watch out for deadly animals as well as other teams.", she brought another thing from her pouch. "So, I packed some food for us, it would last for three days at maximum."

She thought things one step ahead of everyone. I'm glad she's smart.

"What about you Itsuki, got any info?", I turned towards him who nodded.

Did these two planned this out without telling me?! How cruel...

"Yeah. I have heard that Morino Ibiki will held the first exam then followed by a woman, I don't know. The security is tight.", Yuri and I laughed a bit.

This kid's awesome, he managed to spy on them as a genin.

"Well, the information is enough, first we just have to pass the writtem exam then we're good to go.", they stood up but, I layed still causing them to look at me confused.

"Lhexi...what's the matter?", I look at Yuri before smiling slyly. Itsuki stepped back a little, as he sweatdropped.

"Don't tell me...", he trailed off.

I give him a finger gun. "Bingo!", he surely knows me.

Yuri moved her eyes from me to Itsuki who muttered something under his breath.

"Hey! Hey! Don't leave me out of it! I can't understand!", Yuri shouted and I motioned for them to come closer.

They crouched down to my level.

"Actually...", I started. "I know things...I shouldn't know..."

Yuri grabbed me by the collar shaking me, "Just hurry up and spit it out!" This girl is more of a hot headed than Naruto.

I pat her hands for I couldn't breathe before fixing my clothes.

"Alright. The first proctor is Morino Ibiki...", Itsuki shot me a knowing look. "...he's the head of the department of Torture and Interrogation Unit...", I stopped for a moment. "Starting from now on, everything I will say is true and you must not question me how I got those informations, just trust me.", they both looked at each other first before nodding.

"The first exam is not just an ordinary paper exam. It would consist of questions only Chunin level and higher could answer well, except for Sakura, a memory photographic genius, but anyways if one member of a team scores a fail the rest also fails, since no one among us could write the right answers what do you think will happen?"

Itsuki and Yuri thought of it for a moment. "Cheat without getting caught.", they both said and I agreed.

"Right, but the problem is no genin knows the right answer.", I drew two circles on the ground. "That's why they would place at least two chunins in the exam."

Their eyes widened. "Are you saying that they would forced us to cheat?", I nodded at Yuri's question. "Wow...this is amazing. With my byakugan, I can easily do it."

I drew another figure. "But, it's all over if they caught you. However, cheating is not the real point in the exam. It's whether we answer the right answer on the tenth question that is, if we can answer it right, we passed. Just to tell you guys, never ever raise your hand."

I stood up and they both followed. "And also write wrong answers on the papers, it might increase the probability of dropouts so we have lesser opponents."

I dusted my hands and Yuri gave me a suspicious look. "How can we tell you're not lying? You might use this as your chance to fail the two of us. And where did you get this information?"

I just sighed before glaring daggers at her, my bloodlust slightly leaking out.

"What did I tell you?", my voice was heavy and I can see her sweating buckets as she remain still unable to utter any word.

She was scared as I directed my killing intent at her. I don't like people who question me nor dare try to disobey my orders. This was a trait I got from the Ryuugaime clan.

Third Person's POV

Yuri wanted to run at that moment, her mind was clouded with fear and so was her clear eyes that was looking directly at the purple orbs infront of her. She wanted to look away but, she was frightened that once she does, she would die.

"What did I tell you?"

She wasn't trembling, she was frozen in fear. The voice was so heavy, she felt everything crashing down.

Lhexi finally came back in character before smiling. "Just trust me. Yuri-san."

She turned around followed by Itsuki who was unbothered, he wasn't scared for he was used to it. Yuri fell down on her knees as the bloodlust dissipitated as one thing lingered in her mind.

'I almost died...'

The trio walked silently, Lhexi smiling like all flowery, Itsuki cold and unbothered, and Yuri still scared shitless. She was wondering how the girl in front of her have two exactly different personalities. She was kind but, manipulative. She abruptly stopped infront of a room.

Lhexi continued on walking, passing by the room with the sign of 301. Yuri's eyes widened before choosing whether to follow her or not. She chose her instincts and followed the two only to get stopped by a pair of genin.

"Hey! Where do you think are you going?", one asked, shouting.

Lhexi stopped on tracks before smiling at the two as she turned around. "Well, good luck on weeding out the losers, Izumo-san, Kotetsu-san." 

The two chunins stood shock for a moment before grinning as they released their transformation jutsu. "Sharp as always, Alexa-chan.", Izumo stated.

"How did you know?", Kotetsu asked.

"It's too obvious.", Itsuki commented as the two chunin got embarrassed. "It doesn't take a genius to notice it at first glance."

"Please don't say it like that...", they both sulked.

The team trudged on the stairs heading to the room up above.

Yuri was looking at Lhexi as if studying her. She's different from the rest of them and is surely an entire league ahead of them.

Genma stood in waiting for the team. "You're all here, huh?"

Lhexi gave him a smile as the rest does so. "You're the first to arrive.", he stated.

"I guess we're early then.", Itsuki commented.

Yuri looked down as Lhexi smiled.

"Well I shouldn't be holding you guys for a longer time, good luck! Oh and Alexa-chan...?", Lhexi raised her head to meet his eyes confused. "Be careful."

Then he sunshined away from the group.

"What was that for?", Lhexi shrugged it away before entering the empty room.

'It's really quite different before the big shots appear.'

She sat on one of the seats on the farthest behind. Itsuki chose the seat just infront of her and Yuri chose to also sit on the seat closest to the exit just opposite of Lhexi's.

The door opened and Lhexi felt something on her legs. Sand. She smiled first before looking behind her.

"Hey! Gaara! Temari! Kankuro!", she greeted as if they were friends. Itsuki silently narrowed his eyes aware of the fact that they were dangerous.

Yuri chose to ignore them, although they seem bad, she knew that her teammate is a lot more threatening than them. She doesn't have to worry. She just have to trust her.

"How'd you know our names, bitch?", Kankuro asked and Lhexi chuckled mouthing a word.

'Secret~'

"Kid. Don't mess with us if you don't wanna be crushed.", Temari threatened.

Lhexi stood up before tilting her head to the side. "I could say the same thing to you. Don't underestimate me if you do not wish to be killed." She let out a small amount of killing intent.

Temari could withstand it but, it didn't hid the fact the she was sweating. Kankuro was already ready to fight her.

"Stop it, Kankuro.", they all turned at the red haired who's eyes were focused on the purple eyed girl. "She's my prey. If anyone's gonna slaughter her, it would be me. I live to kill.", everyone sweatdropped at Gaara's snarl.

"Really? I can't wait.", Lhexi smiled, excited to fight someone strong.

The sand around her legs tightened before she kicked it off her adding out some chakra.

"No matter how much I want to beat you up, I would have to stop for now I guess.", Kankuro started. "Since, we're not the only ones who are after you."

Itsuki leaned against his chair before smiling to himself. 'They'll only get themselves killed.'

The door opened and a huge number of examinees rushed in. Lhexi glanced at Gaara sending him a quick smile before sitting down, waiting for the original rookie 9.

A few more minutes and Team 9 arrived. Lhexi chose to hide her presence, not wanting to interact with them for the moment.

"Yosha! The chunin exam is finally starting!", Lee exclaimed.

"Oi Lee, how strong was that Uchiha?", Neji asked.

"His sharingan improves his Taijutsu abilities but, I must say I am far stronger."

Neji looked down placing his fingers on his chin, thinking deeply.

"Have you seen Lhexi anywhere?", Tenten asked looking around.

"Oh there she is!", Lee shouted.

Tenten grinned and was about to walk towards the girl who was too deep in thoughts.

"Stop it, you two. This is the Chunin Exams which means she's our enemy now.", Neji inquired.

Lee and Tenten looked down, the idea sinking to their mind.

Lhexi let her thoughts rest for a little while until it was broken by a loud voice.

"My name is Uzumaki Naruto! And none of you will ever beat me!", she facepalmed right after. Now they are the main target.

Her cute pumpkin can surely be too much of an idiot for his own good. But still, she felt like she was the real traget though. From the glares she received from other genins of different hidden villages.

"Please ignore him hahaha, he's talking nonsense!", Sakura smacked the poor blonde on the head.

Kabuto suddenly got attacked, dodging a punch as he skid back before his glasses broke as he puke up. "A realy pushover, aren't ya! You're weak and you have been an applicant for four years. Write this on your cards, all Sound ninjas are becoming chunin this year!"

She looked back once again her focus not on the rookies but, situated on the door. For some reason, she could feel anxiety bubbling in her stomach.

Then it bursted open and the whole room immediately turned freezing cold. Naruto Sakura, and many others shivered at the cold temperature.

A step was heard, and Lhexi's eyes widened at the sight of a childhood friend who's green eyes immediately landed on her, a surprised reaction written on both their faces. Their identical matching bracelets, shining a bit.

Alexa's POV

Why do I keep bumping into old acquaintances today? Seriously, it's getting out of hand. First, that bloody killer Kyuuji then this boy who have grown up probably taller than me now.

Setsuro Tohru.

A boy I've met years ago in Takigakure. I observed him. He had a black wolf fur as his coat complimenting his slightly tan skin, his hair was curlier, and those beautiful piercing green eyes. I can say he have grown stronger  by his strong aura and he's a lot more handsome than before.

I smacked my self mentally. Argh. I'm always lusting on hot dudes. Calm yourself woman this boy is just 13.

But in terms of looks, Kyuuji wins.

I internally slapped myself again, blushing in embarassment.

I'm sure he recognized me for his eyes trailed to the bracelet on my right wrist, I thought he would be happy to see me again but, he scowled. Yes he did. He looked like he was just betrayed when his eyes landed on my forehead protector.

The room suddenly erupted to a loud exchange of murmurs and words.

"Who are you?!", Naruto exclaimed pointing a finger at Tohru and his teammates. The boy beside him was chewing on some gum, he had orange hair and tan skin then the other girl just looked average and mean.

He ignored him, just like the others who thought he was just another loser.

I looked away, processing what the hell is happening.

I could hear Sakura smacking Naruto on the head but, I can't even sigh. There's too much things happening here. I must lay low for now, and attract no more attention.

"Acting all cocky and some big-shot, huh?", I heard one sound nin.

I forgot what his name was and I don't really care. Tohru was labeled as a prodigy of his clan before I left the village. Well, I can say the same thing, he's strong and he learns fast. And his frost release is remarkably impressive.

I could feel the heavy tension from behind me. One sound nin was about to attempt another attack on the three. Just then, Ibiki appeared in a cloud of smoke, including other high leveled ninjas.

"Silence! You pigs!"

I giggled at Ibiki's entrance and he eyed me almost glaring. I smiled at him as I waved my hand and he just gave me a frown before ignoring me.

Kotetsu and Izumo tried their best to keep on a poker face but, I smiled at them causing them to be distracted for a bit.

"Sorry to have kept you waiting. My name is Ibiki Morino, proctor of the first exam. First thing you should now, sound ninja is that there will be no fighting whatsoever now that I'm here, unless you're granted permission. And even if with that permission, there's no to be endangering of any other candidate's life. Anyone who breaks that rule is permanenetly disqualified. Got it?", his voice was heavy and stern, as expected no less from him.

"So this is a test for girly men?", one of the sound nin smirked.

I heard a pop from my right and I look towards the boy, beside Tohru. "Yeah, and not for explosive chimpanzees."

I snickered as the rest does so.

Ibiki ignored the fuming Sound ninja. "Heh. Turn in your applicantions, grab one of these seating cards. The first exam begins now. Report to the seat you've given once you've been given a card. When everyone's seated we'll pass out the written part of the test."

I clicked my tongue as my fingers itched to kill someone today.

That was the woman behind me with a long tounge staring at Sasuke as if wanting to devour him. I wonder how that Uchiha still haven't notice this guy's disgusting watch.

'Fucking Orochimaru.'
