Chapter 11

20:20, 5 October 2017

I let my breath out, making my life-determing decision. I know what I must do. "Kylo, I...will help you."

Relief flooded his face. Perhaps it could be considered joy. He took my hands, gently kissing them. "Thank you."

"Only on one condition," I added, making him frown. Hey, I'm going to benefit from this too.

"Which is?"

"I want to have the ability to visit my family," I said, nearly crying again by the thought of them. "I know you don't understand the connection, coming from a life previous of betrayal in your eyes, but I love and miss them very much. Please just let me see them again."

Kylo considered it then shook his head. "You can't."

I felt a little piece of me fall apart. "Why?"

"Just because I say you can't," he snapped. "Your duty is to the First Order and to the First Order only. You need to forget about your family."

Kylo POV

True reason: If she goes home, she won't come back...

I can't lose her. I need her here with me. Together, we could take Snoke down. And a real relationship could happen too but what's detrimental is her fulfilling her dedication to the Dark Side. Love can wait.

Summer POV

"Please?" I begged, not knowing what else to do. "I just want to say goodbye..."

He sighed. "I'll...think about it. No promises. Now onto more important matters. Your training. We shall start immediately. Come with me."

He started for the door but there was still one problem. "Um, Kylo?"

He turned back to me, an eyebrow raised.

I raised my binded wrists. "Can these come off?"

He eyed me. "Can I trust you without your restraints?"

I glared at him. "Really? Do you really want to go there?"

Not hesitating, Kylo waved his hand and the restraints fell to the floor. "There. Now let's go."

* * * * * *

"I should still have them..."

I waited anxiously on the edge of his bed as Kylo searched his closet for what he claimed will give me a prompt start to my training.

"Aha!" He came out of the closet, books stacked in his arms. He set them down next to me and I coughed over the dust. "Here. Six books that will give you an in depth knowledge of the Force."

"All of them?" These books were thick, and the layers of dust was starting to choke me.

"Yes. The Force is not just about physical use, there is also mental use, which is even more vital. I read these books before I started my training and it aided me deeply."

I grimaced at the work before me. "If you say so."

"Try to get through as much as you can before tomorrow," he said, donning his helmet.

My jaw nearly dropped. "All of them?"

He nodded, heading towards the door. "I have the perfect location to start the physical training, so brush up on the mental side of it."

I noticed him leaving and I called out, "Wait, aren't you going to help me?"

He paused in the doorway, glancing back at me. "Can't you read?"

I rolled my eyes. "Yes. I mean help me study. I might be able to grasp more of this knowledge quicker if you stay with me and walk me through the chapters."

Kylo was about to reply when his holopad beeped. He lifted it up, a hologram of General Hux appearing. "I need you in my office. We may have an issue with the map."

"What do you mean by issue?" Kylo snarled. "Are the coordinates not clear?"

"That's not the problem. The systems and territories we will be passing through are uncharted and unknown. My team is unsure of where to make the appropriate jumps to lightspeed. Last thing we need is to come out if hyperspace in an asteroid field or black hole."

"Your team needs to be fired then, General," the dark warrior denigrated. "Perhaps the clone army was the right decision from the start."

I couldn't see the hologram very well from where I was, but I didn't have to. I could just picture Hux fuming over Kylo's comment.

"I won't have you questioning my methods-"

Kylo turned off the holopad, cutting the general off. He turned back to me again. "As you can see, I have to go. Just start reading and I'll help you when I return."

He left and I exhaled deeply, staring at the books. This is going to be fun...

Hux POV

I impatiently rapped my fingers on my desk until Kylo entered my private office. Finally. Took him long enough.

I stood and crossed the room to him, still seething from anger. "Before you say anything, I just want to make clear that my men are fully capable of their duties, Ren. I would not have them working here if they were incompetent-"

"Most of your men are, but you don't notice it," Kylo rudely interrupted me, as he usually did when I spoke. He had no respect for my authority here. This is my base, my military organization after all. Force, I work harder in a day than he does in a month.

"So, what is the issue, General?"

"I already told you. The directions you claim leads to Ahch-To is not a known route. Who knows what the Finalizer may encounter on that journey? And needn't I remind you again that this is our only Star Destroyer until Snoke reimburses us? If we lose it, we might as well surrender. It is our last defense against a Resistance attack before the base."

"I know that," he growled. "When is Snoke enlarging our fleet?"

I merely shrugged. "He didn't say. I have repeatedly requested it from him but I never get a straight answer."

"I'll ask him next time I speak with him," he said. "And as for the coordinates, send out reconnaissance ships to check the route before we subject the Finalizer to it."

I refrained from rolling my eyes. Only he would give me an order which has already been through my military-trained mind. Besides, I take orders from one person only, and it's certainly not him.

"Already done, Ren," I said smugly. "I'm way ahead of you, as usual. You underestimate my abilities."

"I am yet to be impressed," he replied. "Alert me immediately when the patrols return."

I forced a smile. "Of course."

He left and my smile instantly faded as envious thoughts penetrated my mind. How does some spoiled brat get to be commander in chief? He swings around a glowstick and can read someone's mind thanks to "magic" he refers to as the Force. Where did Snoke find this guy and why does he appeal to him over me? I'm the one with the astounding military background. My father was an exceptional officer in the Empire, and then I even surpassed him, with rising through the ranks of the Order faster than anyone has done before. I'm the youngest general in history for a reason. I didn't just work my arse off for this position, I was born for it. And yet Snoke continues to favor the boy with emotional issues...

I inhaled deeply and blew my breath out as I sat back down behind my desk. My eyes scanned my computer, which was overloaded with notifications. Bills and loans the Order can't pay off, which makes me have to continually make excuses to the payees; virtual "sticky notes" reminding me of things that needed to be done (the colors referred to its importance); half-finished articles that Snoke demands weekly to update him about the First Order's progress; the list goes on. But what I hate most of all are the reports of Kylo Ren's "tantrums", if you wish to refer to them as that. It's not only unnecessary expenses, but also deliberate destruction to my ship. Murder comes to mind whenever another scratch of paint if missing. Unfortunately, I have not found a way to make his death look like an "accident".

And if Ren doesn't fulfill the stress in my day, there's the girl. She so far she has been fairly decent, apart from her ridiculous escape attempt with the Resistance spy, but apart from that she is merely a nuisance. And nuisances are quite easy to get rid of...

The worst part was Kylo has recently appointed her to Sith Apprentice, which puts her in line to the First Order before me. That is why she is the other half of the stress.

I shook away the thoughts, knowing there were more pressing matters to attend to. I couldn't afford a headache, my brain is too detrimental to my work. My mind would have to wait until much later on for drifting.

Poe Dameron POV

I gathered myself before entering the patient's room in the infirmary, knowing the toll it took on me emotionally. General Leia Organa was visiting, which was the other reason I was here. The first was because I couldn't help but check on my friend.

Finn, the former Stormtrooper who helped me escape the First Order and joined the Resistance, laid peacefully on his back in bed with his eyes closed. Almost too peacefully for my comfort. At first glance, one could think he was dead. But I knew, and really hoped, for the better.

He has been in a comatose state for over a week and I'm beginning to worry if he will ever come out. Suffering from a severe spinal injury (thanks to to you-know-who), Finn has remained in an unconscious yet stable state. The doctors predict he will be alright, but I don't fully believe them. I know Finn, and seeing he is still in a coma worries me to no end.

I walked over to the bed, opposite of where General Organa was standing. I squeezed back tears as I looked over Finn's unresponsive body. "Any changes yet?"

She shook her head, equally concerned. "None. You know I will let you know as soon as it happens"

I nodded, remembering telling her how I wanted to be here when he woke up for support. "I know, and thank you, General Organa. Apart from seeing Finn though, I have news for you."

"What sort of news?"

"Not the good kind."

She huffed. "Of course not. What is it?"

I bit my lip. "Now I'm not sure how the whole process works...but I think Kylo Ren may be expanding his army of Force-Sensitives."

Summer POV

I felt the world (I mean ship) shake around me and I jolted awake, almost panicked by the disturbance. Now what is Hux doing to this Star Destroyer? I looked back and relaxed when I saw it was just Kylo climbing onto the bed.

"You doze off? It's that boring?" he snickered.

It was the most in depth reading I have ever done. It wasn't completely boring but the content of it just knocked me out. "Too much for my mind to process, I guess."

He moved the load of books from the bed to the nightstand. "Well, I hoped you soaked in enough knowledge for tomorrow."

I shrugged, rubbing my tired eyes. "The best I could."

Not noticing until now, Kylo was only wearing a tank top and boxers, his usual night gear. Sometimes he was shirtless, sometimes he wore shorts, tonight it was just the basics.

Feeling myself staring, I looked away as he reclined. "You're already heading to bed?"

"Have to be fresh for tomorrow," he said, wiggling beneath what he could of the covers (since I was sitting on half of them). "You should do the same."

"What time is it?"

"There really isn't a time factor in space. You just choose how many hours you want to stay up at a time. I try not to exceed fifteen to keep myself energized."

I nodded. That's why I feel so tired. "Perhaps I should call it a night too."

He gave me a perplexed look.

"What?"

"What do mean by 'calling it a night'? Do you Earth people refer to that time of day as something different?"

I tried not to laugh to be polite. I can't expect Kylo Ren to know present-day sayings. "It's just a saying Kylo. It means I'm ready to go to sleep."

He nodded, digesting it. "Interesting. You Earth people are weird." I let myself laugh as he rolled over. "Goodnight or whatever you would say on Earth."

I wiped away a tear from laughing so hard. "We say goodnight. See you in the morning Kylo."

"Where else would I be?"

Perhaps it be best if I stopped talking...

* * * * * *

I want to say I slept for a while before encountering the sudden awakeness but I would probably be lying. I hoped the time passed so quickly I didn't realize it but that wasn't the case either. I just couldn't fall alseep.

I tried not to toss and turn too much out of respect for Kylo, who seemed to be having no problem with his slumber. It was just me, for whatever reason it may be. I blame the nap earlier. I slept for too long and now my body is wide awake.

I gave up on lying there and quietly got out bed, trying not to wake Kylo. Forcing myself to sleep is just a waste of time, so perhaps a quick snack or a glass of soothing tea will help knock me out.

Gingerly stepping on the floor, I threw on a black, silk robe over my nightgown, feeling embarrassed by my appearance. I also finger-combed my hair, hoping to appear halfway decent. The door opened at my command and it sounded loud enough to wake the whole ship up. I gnawed at my lip, glancing in Kylo's direction. Still sleeping. I sighed relief.

Once out of the room, I walked normally down the corridors, hoping I recalled correctly the way to the cafeteria. Stormtroopers and officers I passed gave me odd looks, for it is a late hour, but I ignored them. After all, being Kylo Ren's apprentice, I have as much right as they do to go about wherever and whenever I wish on the Finalizer. Since no one stopped me for questioning, I'm assuming they were well aware of that.

It wasn't long until I realized I was lost. Next thing I knew I found myself standing in the hangar lined up with TIE Fighters, shuttles, and transporters. I was about to turn back when it hit me: I can escape.

I looked back at the surprisingly unprotected TIEs lined up the wall. I wonder if it's possible...

I shook my head, removing those thoughts. No, I promised Kylo I would help him and I will never break a promise to him. He needs to know he can trust me at any time and I'm never using him for the greater good of myself. All of this is for him.

"I'm sorry Anakin, I can't," I muttered apologetically, turning back the way I came. Once Snoke is eliminated, then I can consider leaving. Although finally being able to be with Kylo sounds wonderful...

I started daydreaming as I imagined what dating him would be like. I had to include the good and the bad, following how unpredictable he was.

I wasn't paying attention again to where I was going, so once I came to my senses I found myself even more lost than before, not recognizing the joining corridors. Not that I could tell any of this labyrinth apart, it's all alike in my eyes.

I passed a door and it opened, startling me. But who I saw didn't surprise me the least.

General Hux, fingers furiously typing the keyboard on his computer, sat at a desk in what I considered to be his private office. Though I knew he wasn't one to leave something uncompleted, or get off when his shift was actually over when there was more work to be done, I didn't think he was this dedicated. Or, maybe the word is neurotic...

He was so deep into his work he didn't even notice me enter. As I came closer to the desk, he became aware of my presence, speaking but keeping his eyes on what he was doing. "Aren't you up way past your bedtime?"

Didn't matter the time of day, Hux's sass didn't seem to change. "I could say the same for you," I said in counter offense. But I wasn't in the mood for challenging him. "Why aren't you off work yet?"

"Ever heard the slogan, 'never put off until tomorrow what you can do today'?"

I nodded. My parents told me that all the time, not that they needed to. I was always a very driven person since I was young.

"Well, you're looking at the person who might as well invented it."

I laughed but I don't think he was meant it as a joke.

His blue eyes averted momentarily to glance strangely at me then it was right back to his work. "Is there something you need of me?"

"No-"

"Then I ask that you please leave. I still have much left to do before I can finally rest and I don't need you to distract me."

I studied him, almost feeling sorry for him. I tend to do this with the Dark Side people, I don't know why; I suppose I feel some deserve redemption. Hux is a jerk and doesn't deserve any sympathy for the actions he done, but watching him slave away with the endless work on his computer bothered me. I noticed an empty coffee cup and no food in sight. He probably hasn't eaten since lunch (if he didn't skip it). He is one who keeps pushing himself until something is done to his liking. But starving himself won't help him in the end. It will only lead to more mistakes because he can't think properly, which will then lead to more work. He doesn't even realize he's hurting himself.

"General, is there anything I can do to help you? Maybe bring you back something from the cafeteria? I was just on my way there."

Hux paused, perplexed from the offer. I knew right then no one here assists him with anything unless ordered to. Perhaps it's because he is a little obsessed, or maybe no one cares.

Either way, he couldn't hide the shock on his face. He gathered himself quickly, not wanting to look like an idiot. "I don't believe there's any way you could possibly aid me, but the offer was generous."

"Are you sure? Nothing?"

"This is all highly confidential." He dramatically motioned to his computer. "You're prohibited from assisting even if I wanted to accept."

He actually seemed to be trying to let me down easily. I took hold of the small act of kindness. "I work for the Order though. Doesn't that make me authorized?"

"You work with the Order, not for it," Hux corrected. "But even if you were an officer of mine, first: you wouldn't be of high enough rank; and second: there are some things that are my eyes only. Can you even read Aurebesh?"

I shook my head and he nodded, expecting my answer. "I didn't think so. Research I have done with Earth showed many different and confusing languages spoken there but also the descriptive form is much different from Aurebesh. Everything on my computer is written in that writing. You wouldn't be able to help me anyway."

I couldn't help showing disappointment. "Well, is there anything you would like from the cafeteria?"

"I'm much to busy to think about my stomach," the obsessed general replied. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine. Just go about your business. I do highly suggest heading back to Kylo's room as soon as possible, because he will probably freak out when he wakes up and sees you missing."

"I don't want to do that to him," I said, already starting for the door. "He doesn't need to deal with that in the middle of his slumber."

"I meant he will be contacting me constantly and I won't get anything done," he clarified. "Though I suppose your point is important as well."

I chuckled. "By the way, which direction is the cafeteria from here?"

"Lost, are you?"

"Don't even start. I think I've been roaming this place fairly well considering the layout of it."

To my surprise, he allowed a grin to show. Didn't know the man's mouth was capable of smiling. "Second intersection you come across, head right, then right again at the fifth corridor. The cafeteria will be on the left; can't miss it."

I thanked him and left, following the instructions he told me. At first I thought he was leading me elsewhere purposely so I'm became more lost, but the cafeteria came into view and I sighed relief.

My eyes immediately scanned the food bar, looking for something light. A tray of what I guessed to be orange fruit cubes caught my attention. It seemed to resemble cantaloupe melon and I was instantly intrigued. Something decently edible for a change. The food here was good but it was...what's the word...different.

A night duty officer walked up beside me, also searching for a late night bite. I pointed to the fruit. "Would you happen to know what this is?"

He glanced over, staring at me for a moment because of the way I was dressed, then nodded. "Meilooruns."

Meilooruns...I've heard of them before. From the television series Star Wars Rebels. They stole a crate of them from Imperials off Lothal. That episode was hilarious.

Wait, did those characters exist too?!

I came back to reality, realizing the officer was staring at me. "Do you know what their flavor is like?"

"Sweet and juicy. One bite and you will find it hard to stop."

He picked up a few things and went to a table. My attention was fixed on the fruit. I scooped some into a bowl and tried a bite, falling in love with the flavor. This is an uncontrollable goodness. It was sweeter and juicer than any melon I've had on Earth. I wish it was available down there.

I took some more and sat down at an unoccupied table, happily eating them up. I was tempted to go back for more after but I restrained myself and just hoped they will still be there in the morning.

I was about to leave when General Hux flashed into my mind, still slaving away at his desk. I can't just leave him like that.

I went back to the food bar, picking up a to-go box for the workers who preferred to eat elsewhere. I chose a muffin and meiloorun cubes then paused for the drink. I turned to the officer, who was still eating. He had quite a few squares on his tunic, perhaps he knows Hux well.

"May I ask another question?"

He tried to hide his annoyance for being disturbed. "If it's quick."

"General Hux requested I bring him back something from the cafeteria, but he didn't specify the drink. Do you know what he would prefer?"

The officer nearly laughed. "Coffee. And not decaf. Three creams, a cube of sugar and you're good to go."

I thanked him and prepared a cup the way Hux liked it. The coffee stimulated my senses as I poured it, the smell revealing it was freshly brewed. I added the cream and sugar then hurried out, straining to remember which way I came. I retraced my steps, which was difficult because I was going backwards, but I eventually came back to Hux's office.

I entered and he was in the exact same position that I left him, which was no surprise. He lifted his head, hearing the door, and froze at sight of what I was carrying in my hands. He sat back in his chair, staring at me in bewilderment. "What is the meaning of this?"

"Well, I know you won't leave your work unfinished to get anything for yourself, so I thought I would bring a little something back for you," I said, smiling.

Hux straightened himself, clearly astonished. "I...I don't know what to say."

I handed him the container of food and coffee. "You don't have to say anything." My life would end before he actually spoke words of gratitude. "Here. Enjoy."

He glanced at the contents of the container then the coffee. "Is this-"

"Regular. Three creams. One cube of sugar. Just the way you like it."

He merely blinked, trying not to show surprise. "How do you know how I prefer my coffee?"

"Lucky I suppose."

His eyes showed concern but he sipped the coffee, liked it, and drank some more. He set the cup down, placing the food next to it. "This is very thoughtful of you. Almost, too thoughtful." He studied me dubiously with an eyebrow raised. "I know you aren't fond of me, as I am not of you, so why go through the hassle?"

I shrugged and smiled. "Just being nice."

"Being nice?" Hux intertwined his hands on his desk. "So tell me, because it does appear strange to see you helping out someone you despise, what are you up to?"

"I don't despise you," I said. "We got off to a rough start. I don't see why we couldn't get along."

"Oh please," he scoffed. "It is almost as if you're trying to get closer to me. Why? I assure you, I am not the man to fall in love with."

I held back a deeply needed eye roll. "It is far from that reason Hux. No offense, but I don't have any interest in you. I just see how hard you work and wanted to help you out is all. Honestly."

The redhead slowly nodded, accepting my answer but probably not believing it. He waved his hand in dismissal, a motion for me to leave. "Very well. Now please let me go back to work. Your presence has already set me behind."

I did have one more "gift" for him. "Could you spare five minutes?"

His eyes fixated on me. "Whatever for?"

"Because you need a break. I can see it," I stated truthfully. "You're overworking yourself."

"Breaks are for slackers that are too weak to finish what they started. I, for one, am exactly the opposite."

"And you don't see that as harmful?"

"How would my productivity be harmful?"

"It will be when you make mistakes."

"I recheck my work so much, there is no possible way an error can occur," Hux assured rather arrogantly. "Now if you will please excuse me-"

"When was the last time you had a massage?"

He gave me a you've got to be kidding me expression. "How is this relevant to the conversation?"

"General Hux, I can guarantee you a massage would change the way you looked at your work," I said. "You could relax and refresh and give your mind a rest for a change."

Hux rubbed his forehead. "Must I physically remove you from this room..."

"Look, just five minutes. That all it would be! Can't you spare that?"

He looked back at me. "And exactly who is the masseuse?"

I stood taller. "You're looking at her." Have I had any experience beforehand? No. But seriously, it's not rocket science.

If he was a person to laugh, he would have. Though because of his posh nature, he didn't rudely shoot me down. "Another generous gesture, but I must decline-"

"Give it a chance." Then an idea hit me. "If anything, this is an opportunity to prove me wrong..."

He paused, mulling that over. I could picture the gears grinding in his head, analyzing what his answer would be. And If I know him well enough...

"Only five minutes?"

Got him. "Not a minute more."

He sighed and motioned for me to come over. "Fine. You may proceed, but I am timing you. And you better keep your hands in appropriate places. No roaming."

"No problem." That seriously is the last thing I would want to do.

I walked around his desk and stood behind his chair. After a quick stretch of the wrists, I started rubbing his shoulders and neck. It was a challenge. He either has never had a massage or it's been too long since the last. His muscles were very tense. I kept working on him though, seeing how desperately he needed it.

"Hux, you really need to relax," I said, my voice showing the struggle I was working with. "It would make it easier for me."

The general didn't hear me. He was out of it, deeply enjoying the massage. Entranced is the better word to use. Obviously I am better at this than I thought. I knew this wouldn't be five minutes...

Hux leaned forward from his chair so I could reach the lower part of his back. My hands rubbed from his shoulders to his waist, but staying above his belt. I even worked a moan out of him. The emotionless leader of the First Order is crumbling before my eyes. The power I have in my hands... An evil, maniacal laugh would be appropriate right now.

Speaking of my hands...they felt like they were going to break off.

I finished and backed away, flexing my fingers for the feeling to return. Hux remained motionless in his chair, still stunned.

Once I walked around to the front of his desk, he snapped out of it. "You're done?"

I nodded, my hands throbbing. But his muscles were as flexible as they ever could be.

"Could I...have a little longer, perhaps?" he asked, his eyes pleading.

Now I was stunned. "Um, well, it is late..."

He glanced at his datapad. "Oh Force, it is. Nevermind me. Just head back to bed."

I stared in shock at his selfless comment. That was very uncharacteristic. Oh my gosh I broke him. Or maybe...

"Hey Hux, have you ever heard of a man named Bill Weasley?"

"Bill who?"

"Just checking..."

* * * * * *

"Summer. Summer! Wake up!"

I felt myself being shook and tried to ignore it, too tired to react. The bed felt so comfy and warm.

"For Force sake Summer, get up!"

The covers were ripped from my grip and I reluctantly sat forward, knowing what would come next if I didn't. "Alright, alright. I'm up."

Well, it happened anyway. Next thing I knew a gust of wind hit me and I found myself on the floor. "Oh, come on Kylo! Can't you give a girl a moment to get out of bed?"

"I did give you a moment. And see? You're out of bed now! Hooray!" It was too early for his sarcasm. "Get dressed quickly. We're training today and we have a long trip ahead of us."

I rubbed my head as I looked up at the robed man. He was like a giant from down here. "Where are we going?"

He gave me a sideways glance. "If you don't get yourself done, you will never find out, will you?"

I can see how this day is going to be...

* * * * * *

Kylo wanted to skip breakfast but I wouldn't leave without it, so I won that argument. Not that we actually argued. If he ever raised his voice at me, I would automatically let him win for my own life's sake. But he didn't force me to bend to his wish this morning. He was annoyed, but didn't complain.

Being too anxious to sit still, Kylo was already in the hangar making sure his command shuttle was ready to fly. I on the other hand, was sitting in the cafeteria with a tray of food in front of me. And much to my delight, there was a fresh refill of cubed meilooruns. I forced myself eat other things besides that, just wanting to devour the whole tray myself.

A shadow appeared over me and at first I thought it was an impatient Kylo Ren but instead blinked in surprise over who it was. "General Hux? Are you alright?"

At first sight he appeared normal, holding a cup of coffee in his hands. Fresh at that, the steam was still rising from the mouth of the mug. But he looked different this morning than he did last night. Something about him was just...different.

"Of course I am," he replied, almost sounding cheerful. Almost. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"Because you look like you could smile..."

He quickly cleared his throat and firmed his lips. "Is this more appealing for you?"

I laughed, standing from the table. "I wasn't mocking when I said that. It would be nice to see a smile on your face once in a while."

"What's there to smile about? We're in debt way over our heads, Skywalker is still on the loose, and we look like a laughing stock to the rest of the galaxy thanks to a couple of mangy X-Wing pilots. Where's the happiness?"

Although he made himself appear to be complaining, it seemed more like a cover.

I didn't push the issue further, knowing I was short on time today. "Look, I'm not trying to be rude, but Kylo is awaiting me in the hanger and-"

He put his hand up, motioning for me to stop. "Oh don't let me hold you up. I definitely know the patience level he has." Yeah, look who's talking. "I just wanted to drop by and personally give you my thanks for last night."

I must say, I never thought I would see the day come when Hux would thank me."Did it help?"

Hux hesitated. "Well..."

I snickered. "So, I was right-"

"Absolutely not. Don't get cocky."

"It did. That's why you look different today. Sleep well?"

It was moment before he nodded. "I suppose it could be said you made a difference, but that's a very slim chance."

"So you would like another massage when I return?"

Another pause. "I am not agreeing...yet I would not turn it down if you offered."

I laughed again. He will never admit I'm right but it's fine. I'm not the person who needs to hear it. "Alright. We will leave it at that."

"That is quite alright with me." The way he looked at me made me feel uncomfortable. His eyes seemed to sparkle with...interest. Him? Really? Oh heck no. Why would he even consider that? I tried to shake off the thought, seeing I was just as quick to jump to conclusions as him.

I need a way out of here. "Kylo is still waiting..."

"Right, right, go ahead," Hux urged. "Have fun, I suppose I could add. Where are you two off to anyway?"

I shrugged, already heading towards the exit. "It's a surprise I guess," I called back to him. "I'll let you know when I return!"

"No rush, really! Keep Ren away as long as you can," he said, almost sighing relief with it. "I could use the tranquility and assurance that the Finalizer won't be destroyed whenever I take my eyes off him..."

* * * * * *

"When are you going to tell me where we're going?"

"Not yet. Be patient."

"I have been patient. It's been like three hours Kylo."

"And you can wait an hour more."

I exhaled, looking out at the beauty of hyperspace. Kylo was currently was piloting the command shuttle towards our destination, but I, for whatever reason, am being excluded from it.

"Can you at least tell me so I can research it?" I asked, partly lying for the reason so I can know the answer. Kylo gave me my own datapad today and I felt as happy as when my parents gave me a phone. The best part is it was in my language, not Aurebesh, so I could actually use it.

I thought he still wasn't going to answer but he surprisingly did. "Devaron."

My eyes widened at the name, it sounding familiar. "Where have I heard that before..."

"Have you now?" His raised brow implied concern. "From where?"

I strained my brain but I couldn't remember. "I'm not sure..."

Kylo motioned to the datapad. "Research it like you wanted to. Might spark your memory."

I nodded, turning my device on and jumping onto the HoloNet. I typed in the planet's name and spherical hologram was projected from the lens. It rotated as every planet does, slowly but actually a thousand miles per hour. Facts about the planet appeared next: size, length of days and years, the air was breathable (which was very good to see), the typical living conditions, and terrain. It literally looked like a huge jungle with villages dotting the landscape. One thing stood out to me from the rest.

"Are you taking me to the Jedi Temple in Eedit?" I asked, trying to contain excitement. A real Jedi Temple!

"It was a Jedi Temple at one time," he explained. "The Empire destroyed it, stripped it of any resources and banished anyone from entering."

"So it's gone."

"Correct."

"Just a bunch of rubble?"

"If we're lucky."

I swiveled my copilot's chair so I could face him. "And...that's where you want me to train?"

He inhaled and let his breath out slowly, either showing a sign of thinning patience or just unsure how to answer. "The Force is strong here. Before we train, you need to make a proper connection for it. Only then can you truly weild the powers of the Dark Side."

"But this is still a Jedi Temple," I stated, still wondering why we're coming here. "I am going to embrace the Dark Side of the Force over sacred Jedi ground?"

"Don't worry about anything except making the connection," he said, his tone suggesting he was done with the subject. "One step at a time."

I shrugged and went back to the datapad, studying the planet. Devaron. I know that I read about it somewhere. I leaned my head back against the chair and shut my eyes. Come on brain think...

An elbow nudged me a bit harder than needed and I grabbed my now aching side, shooting Kylo a sideways glance. "What was that for?"

"You will be thanking me from saving your neck from snapping," the Dark Knight said. "You need to stay awake. We're coming out of hyperspace in five."

I sat up straighter in my chair. "We're there already?"

"Yeah you dozed off."

"I did? Really?"

"Are you going keep asking me stupid and obvious questions?" he snapped.

I snickered. "I don't know, am I?"

His glare said enough. I shrunk down in my chair. No games. No questions. No talking. No problem.

The shuttle emerged from hyperspace, the stars freezing around in dotted clusters in space. We entered the green planet, traveling through thick clouds before the ground came into view. Not that you could literally see it. Tall trees and thick fog covered the landscape. Some hilly terrain was up ahead, which was the direction we were heading. A few villages looked like specks below us.

The shuttle slowed as we approached the tallest of these hills, landing in the valley which what once was a riverbed. Kylo cautiously landed the ship on the uneven ground, stirring up enough dirt and gravel to blind someone.

He turned off the shuttle and the hatch lowered, steam escaping as the cabin depressurized and the engines cooled. I walked off the shuttle, craning my head up at the cliffs surrounding us. It wasn't huge, like touching the clouds size, but it was big enough to make me feel like an ant.

I glanced over at Kylo, who joined me moments later with thick rope wrapped around his shoulder and two duffle bags packed so tightly they might explode open. "All set?"

I eyed him curiously. "Um, are you?"

"Yeah. Why?"

I motioned to the rope and luggage, which was so heavy he was standing crooked. "Oh, this? How else do you expect we get to the Temple?"

My mind started piecing everything together and I wasn't particularly liking it. "Wait a minute, are we-"

"Climbing the cliff? Why else would I bring rope? And these bags are full of survival material." He handed me a pair of macrobinoculars then pointed towards the top of the cliff. "See that cave?"

I searched the area then nodded, spotting the opening. I turned to him. "We're going all the way up there?"

"That's where the Temple is," he smirked. "Now...how are you with heights?"

* * * * * *

The experience was so unpleasant and frightening that the details are of little importance. All I know, since I had my eyes squeezed shut more than open, that I'm never going rock climbing with him. Ever.

"Relax," Kylo said, stifling back laughter as he pulled the rope up. The duffle bags were strapped onto the end. "You're on solid ground now."

I was still trembling from what I swear was a near death experience. "Solid, yes. Ground, no. We're like three stories up from what you can consider ground!"

Kylo merely shrugged as he rolled up the rope and hid it behind a rock along with the luggage. I don't know what from. Who would possibly want to come up here? "You would call me crazy if you knew some of the heights I've encountered. Okay. Rope is hidden. Let's move on."

I stood up, shakily at first, immediately scooting away from the edge of the cave. "Hopefully, wherever we're heading to won't involve more climbing."

A shake of his head made me sigh relief. "No, it's a straight walk from here." He removed his weapon from his oversized belt, igniting it on the darkness for use of a flashlight. The red beam of light danced off the rocky cave, creating enough shadows to make one belive he was being followed. Just the feeling I need right now. "Be careful not to trip. The path is uneven. And stay close. This cave has many different tunnels that will leave you in quite a tortuous death. I can't afford to lose you."

I paused in midstep, his words making my heart skip a beat. "You...what?"

Kylo also stopped, but with surprise of his own tongue. Though he managed to correct himself without hesitation. "I can't afford to lose you...for my own life's sake. Snoke would probably kill me."

I tried to hide disappointment, yet I couldn't help but wonder if he actually meant his correction.

Breaking the awkward moment, Kylo continued leading us deeper into the cave. He paused a few times at intersections of tunnels, closing his eyes for a minute before choosing what I hoped to be the right one. Perhaps he was using the Force as his guide. And whichever Jedi Master decided to stick a Temple in the middle of a cliff...when I die, he's getting an earful.

It seems the farther we went into the cave, the more likely we would never come out. I shivered, a cold wind blowing through the tunnel. At least that's a good sign. I hope Kylo knows the way back since he left all our supplies at the entrance.

Kylo suddenly veered right, his lightsaber nearly decapitating me. I jumped back, shooting him a look. "Whoa! Watch where you're sticking that thing! I would like to walk out of here in one piece."

He merely just pushed himself past me. "Stay away from the beam and you won't have that problem."

Ugh. I swear he can be nice one moment and such a jerk the next. I kept a little more space between us, since he wants to play wild with that thing.

I noticed more and more loose rocks, which gave me a sick feeling. Great. The cave is going to collapse on top of us.

The rocks became in greater quantities until they almost jammed the tunnel shut. It looked like a man-made barricade by the way they were stacked. The pile was as tall as me, and the cave's height was only another yard or so. We would have to crawl through the narrow opening to cross. Certainly Kylo isn't going to suggest that.

Kylo extinguished his weapon, clipped it to his belt, and started maneuvering himself over the rocks. Well, I guess that answers my question.

Once he was on the side, a red light reappeared, making it easier to see the obstacle I had to cross. "Take it nice and slow," I heard Kylo say.

I hesitated. "Do we have to go this way?"

"The Temple entrance is literally just on the other side. This is the only way to reach it."

I sighed. Okay Summer, if you climbed a cliff you can do this. One rock at a time. Next thing I knew I was standing next to Kylo.

"See? Not difficult."

"Compared to your climbing skills? No, not all," I added with a smile.

"Hey, you're alive right? Then I did my job properly."

I laughed but then startled myself at the sound of the echo.

Now Kylo let a chuckle out. "You sound like a mynock in here. Try not to attract any."

I didn't object. That is a creature I certainly don't want to meet.

It wasn't much further until we saw light. The Temple was literally on the other side, like Kylo said. He returned his weapon to his belt, having no further need for it.

We walked out of the cave and straight into the side of the Temple, the fractured structure backing up to the dark tunnel.

I stared in dismay at the sight. Ruins of the Temple scattered about, destruction everywhere. Windows were missing, just more holes in the disheveled wall. The ceiling was what stone has not yet fallen off the pillars that were used for both support and decor. Hand crafted statues of Jedi Knights holding their lightsabers in front of them stood on each side of what was once a corridor. They were a majestic sight, if it wasn't for their condition.

They were cracked, pieces missing, some completely in half. Most were stained black, probably from a fire. I walked up to what was left of one lying on the mossy floor and I traced my hand across it. I could feel...something. A great deal of sadness and pain.

I walked deeper into the Temple, which seemed like an endless connection of corridors and spacious rooms for training or meditating. One particular room grabbed my attention. The whole left side of the room was completely gone, leaving an opening large enough to make you wonder what could have destroyed it. That did offer a fair amount of viewing to the majestic courtyard, which looked as if it has never been touched. There were no walls beyond, just a wide open grassy field that connected to the forest. A fountain stood in the center, still functioning, water dancing with elegance and grace.

One thing that stood out to me was a tall pillar just across from the fountain. It stood as tall as the trees with a small lever on top. There were no burnt marks and the marble looked as if it was never touched. Why did the Empire spare that certain pillar?

Deep in thought, I turned back, further examining the destruction. I traced my hand along what was left of a wall, wondering what this place was like when the Jedi Order was alive. Before the dark times...before the Empire and now the Order.

I looked up and did a double-take, seeing the ghost of Anakin Skywalker standing off where the jungle met with the Temple courtyard. He stared at me for a moment, sadly shook his head, then disappeared into thin air.

All I could do was blink. Did I really just see him again? I might have envisioned it since it was so short, but he looked so...disappointed.

"Are you sure this is the best place for me to begin training?" I asked, picking up a piece of I'm not sure what. When he didn't answer, I looked back at him. "Kylo?"

He was staring at the rubble, walking around, occasionally kicking a small piece of debris out of the way. He appeared to be entranced. I don't think he saw Anakin but maybe he sensed him.

I debated if I should, then I approached him. "Kylo? Are you alright?"

Kylo jumped, too out if it to even hear me coming. "Oh, um, yes. I'm fine." He awkwardly cleared his throat. "Follow me. I know the perfect place to begin."

He led me out into the courtyard, walking gingerly in some areas that appeared perfectly fine. "There used to be pits here from a bombing run. That's why the Temple is in the shape it is. The pits have been physically filled by locals but some spots are still a little soft. Just watching your footing."

I did as ordered, not wanting to sink into the depths of Devaron. He seems to know this place well. Almost too well...

"Good, now for your first lesson," Kylo said once I caught up to him. I used the a of the fountain as a seat while he spoke. "Connection. The Force is the source of life in all living things. It combines us, penetrates us, and binds the galaxy together. Without the Force, there would be nothing."

I listened intently to every word he said. Not only was it mandatory to be learned, it was interesting. My fangirl side soaked it up like a sponge.

"Here at the once-was Temple of Eedit, despite it being ruined, the Force still runs strong here," Kylo continued. "It will be easy for you to make the connection. Once you do, you will find it much simpler to wield the power. Observe."

He sat down onto the ground, crossing his legs and holding himself in a meditative position, then shut his eyes. His breathing was slow and peaceful, a rarity to see him like this. "I can feel everything around me. The trees...the creatures...the wind as it blows the clouds... With the Force, I am one with nature." His eyes re-opened and he stood up. "Now. You try."

I sat down the same way he did, closing my eyes and taking slower breaths to help myself relax.

"Clear your mind of all thoughts. Only then can you truly connect with the Force."

"But...isn't this the way of a Jedi?"

He didn't immediately reply. "You must know the Light before you become the Dark. Perhaps you could balance both sides of the Force as I, but I prefer you to remain solely with the Dark. Now...focus. There is nothing but you and the Force."

Keeping my mind clear of thinking is way harder than I expected, especially with someone who has such an active brain as it is. Every time I thought I had it, I lost it. I opened my eyes, sighing with frustration. "I can't seem to do it."

"You can't or you won't?"

I glanced up at him with a puzzled expression. "I am trying Kylo, really, but it's not that simple."

"No one said it was," he replied. "With enough attempts, you will succeed. Begin again."

I exhaled and shut my eyes, trying again to empty my mind.

"Don't strain, that won't work," I heard him say. "Just listen to the nature to help you relax. Release yourself of all emotion."

I did as he said, focusing on the chirping birds or the singing insects in the jungle. A gentle breeze blew and I just let myself feel every second of it. Then I saw something. My eyes were shut yes, but I could see with them closed. The jungle was very faded and almost unnoticeable, but it looked like it was sparkling aquamarine in the sun. Something moved above me, birds maybe, I felt their presence as well. I get it now. Everything that is the blue-green color has the Force flowing through it. I tried to contain my excitement to control my emotional state: I was one with the Force, the Force was with me.

"I feel it..." I said in nearly a whisper, not wanting to lose what I have yet yearning to let Kylo know of my accomplishment. "The Force..."

But then I felt something different from the peaceful area around me. Darkness. I saw it, a shadow of a person standing across from me. It suddenly bolted towards me and I screamed with fright, falling backwards off the fountain legde, plunging into the water.

Kylo came to my aid (not that I needed it, the water was like a foot deep), leaning over the side. An eyebrow raised, he asked, "What happened?"

Shaking, I used Kylo (who surprisingly let me) as a base to hoist myself out of the fountain and back onto the ledge. I tried not to shiver, suddenly cold. "I...I d-don't know..."

"What did you see?"

I tried to keep my voice from trembling. "Darkness. A figure of some sort, maybe a person. It came at me."

It was a moment of silence before he spoke. "It's me, isn't it."

I turned towards him, not exactly sure of the answer but his suggestion made sense. "I don't know. It wasn't clear."

He stood up, wincing and grabbing his left hip. Noticing I was staring at him, he shrugged it of, pretending there was no problem. "I should give you some space, seeing that you are sensing my presence. The Dark Side of the Force in me is distracting you, so I will wait back in the Temple. I'll return soon."

"You're going to just leave me alone here?!" The emphasis was necessary. I was surrounded by a dense jungle with no means of self defense. Who knows what creatures lie in there?

"You will be fine. Just meditate. The Force with alert you if something will go wrong."

How reassuring.

Kylo POV

I left Summer behind but I wasn't worried. I was close enough to rush back to her if needed.

I crossed over a pile of debris and walked into the disheveled corridor, taking slower and easy strides once out of sight. I cursed as my hip throbbed with pain. The injury from the bowcaster shot has not fully healed yet but I make myself push on every day as if I was fine. Bacta treatments have helped, but it's not healing fast enough to my liking. The infirmary has warned me repeatedly about over stressing that delicate area, for a possible worse injury could occur, but I ignored them. Who can't handle a little bit of pain and immobility?

Snoke insisted that this is good for my training as a Dark Knight. Pain leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering. That's the path to the Dark Side. Dealing with the pain from my injury daily certainly makes me follow that slogan, and it reminds me to push on no matter what the circumstances. Darth Vader wouldn't shy away from a little discomfort. He dealt with much pain in his lifetime with what remained of his body.

Keeping these thoughts in mind, I forced myself to keep walking using the pain as strength. Every lance makes me stronger...every throb pushes me farther from the Light and into the Darkness...

I will not the fail you, Grandfather.

Summer POV

Stay focused. Ignore the uncertain, untamed jungle. Nothing will hurt you. The Force will protect you.

I literally don't believe a word I'm saying.

I sighed, trying to get back into the frame of mind I had before. One with the Force. I can't believe I did that. I actually have that mystical power every person longs for.

If all this still turned out to be a dream in the end, I wouldn't be surprised.

I pushed away my thoughts and emotion again. This is incredibly complicated when all I want to do is freak out or fangirl but I'm somehow doing it. I mean, what would your reaction be if you found out you had the Force? Certainly you wouldn't just sit still and think nothing of it. I guess I have very good self-control.

After what literally felt like forever, I became one with the Force again. I might have only done this once, but I found it very peaceful and relaxing. Since Kylo was away, everything nearest to me felt tranquil and majestic. The beauty of the planet truly shone through the Force.

Time passed. How much I don't know, but I was beginning to wonder why Kylo hasn't yet return. That wonder led to worry and I was instantly thrown from the connection. Oh well. I could use a break anyway.

I stood up, my legs stiff and aching. I must have been here longer than I thought. Dusk was near on the horizon, but we probably arrived here late afternoon as it was. My datapad said that a day on Devaron lasts only nineteen hours.

I was about to head back to the shuttle when a strong wind hit me and I covered my face for protection. It left as quick as it came and I noticed the sunlight was gone. I looked up at the sky and saw dark clouds creeping across it. Great. A rainstorm is heading our way and fast. I suppose that ends the training for today.

I turned around and froze in midstep, seeing a cloaked man standing off by the rubble, blocking my way back to the shuttle. The hood was up so I couldn't see his face, but I knew it wasn't Kylo. Well, I hoped. I probably was just being paranoid. Why would Kylo show me training methods then destroy me? But really, what is a man doing way out here in the jungle?

Calling out to the man was a stupid move, especially since he just stood there staring at me. And most likely, from his current mannerisms, he wouldn't answer back. I could try for Kylo but he wouldn't hear me if he was deep in the Temple.

Thunder roared in the sky and the clouds looked ready to burst. I was starting to worry if lightning would take me down before this guy does, if that was his intention.

I needed to get to Kylo somehow, or at least close enough to maybe he would sense my endangerment (not sure if there was a certain distance for that), so I gathered my courage and started walking towards the man.

"Who are you?" I shouted at him, not wanting to get too close but enough to show I wasn't afraid.

The man pushed back his hood and I think my heart stopped. No, it's impossible...

Luke Skywalker. Not old, but young. As in, Return of the Jedi young. I blinked a few times. I can't actually be seeing him like this. Unless...

He's dead.

My heart sank at that thought but he wasn't glowing like Anakin did. So if he's not a ghost, and it can't be the real person from thirty years ago...who or what is he?

"Luke?" I called out, my voice barely heard over the thunder in the sky.

The wind was beginning to pick up again, enough to where I was struggling to keep my balance. "Luke!"

Lightning flashed and I instinctively lept to the ground. Rain began pounding down on me in torrents. This isn't natural. Something is definitely wrong.

I raised my head and gasped to see the jungle in flames around me. Smoke rose until it hit the clouds. The fire continued to the rubble, which because of the material, was the only thing not burning. Where was Luke?

I kept my hand over my eyes, straining to see a shadow figure on the ground. Wait a minute...I think there's two. I was hesitant to stand up but did anyway, cautiously approaching.

I stopped when the fire spread behind them, lighting them up so I could see them. Rain was stinging my eyes, but that wasn't faltering what I saw.

One of the figures was Luke, on his knees, cloak still on. The other...a droid. One I knew too well. Artoo-detoo beeped as Luke's robotic hand moved onto his head for comfort. Wait a minute, that happened when Luke's Jedi Temple was destroyed. I'm seeing it? Is this a vision?

I suddenly felt sick as I stared off behind them at the debris. It can't be...that means...this place...

A movement from within the Temple caught my eye and I nearly fainted upon sight.

Kylo Ren, lightsaber in hand, had his masked stare locked onto me. Then he started coming towards me, twirling his lightsaber as if it was a toy. I looked back at Luke and R2-D2, who were now gone. They just...disappeared.

Seeing Kylo wasn't stopping, I began backing up until I was nearly upon the flamed jungle. I tripped over a tree root and fell down hard. Kylo was now upon me, standing over my body. I wanted to beg for mercy or say something but my mouth wouldn't move. He raised his lightsaber above his head and I screamed as it struck me...

Kylo POV

I picked up a remain of a statue, a hand actually. I remembered seeing the unbroken yet still damaged from age ones when I first arrived here. They were intimidating, despite being replicas of Jedi. It feels like so long ago...

That was the day I found out the truth. That was the day I felt like no one could be trusted in the galaxy, not even my own family. That was the day Snoke came to me and showed me my potential. That day...I became Kylo Ren.

The thought of Luke instantly sickened me. My own uncle betrayed me, just like my mother did, keeping her heritage a secret from me my entire life. Why couldn't I know who my grandfather was? Why was it hidden from me?

The hand of the Jedi statue crumpled in my fingertips as anger rushed through my veins. The day I turned was the best day of my life, for I finally knew what my destiny was. I had a place in the galaxy. Though the memories tend to haunt me instead of fuel me. That is one thing I have never told Snoke and I never plan on it. I can't go through his "reconditioning therapy" again...

A deafening scream from the direction I left Summer grabbed my attention. I turned on my lightsaber and rushed back out of the Temple, ignoring the shooting pain from my hip. Noticing else mattered right now but her. I've never felt this way towards someone before. Selflessly putting my own life at risk for another? That's not Kylo Ren, that's...

Ben Solo.

This place is doing things to me.

Once back outside and, seeing that Summer was just screaming again with her eyes shut, I groaned.

"Summer, snap out of it," I said, standing over her shaking body. Her knees were tucked up to her chest and she was trembling on the grass.

Her eyes opened and she shrieked louder at sight of me. I didn't think the humidity was hurting my hair that much...

She suddenly started throwing small rocks at me and I barely dodged the first one, then used my lightsaber as a shield for the rest. "What the heck are you doing?!"

When she didn't stop, I moved my arm at her and she froze with the Force. I turned off my weapon and approached her, kneeling in front of her. "There better be a good explanation for catapulting stones at me."

Her lips quivered before she spoke. "I know..."

I gave her a confused expression. "You know what?"

"I know...what you did here, why you brought me here. Kylo...I know."

I stared at Summer then released her, swallowing hard. I didn't expect her to figure it out so quickly. "You know nothing."

"You brought me here to not to train but to turn to the Dark Side as you did years ago. You wanted me to fail here so I would turn."

I didn't repsond. I don't know how. I always knew her hold of the Force was strong, but she continues to surprise me. The only answer was the Force gave her a vision. This Temple was warning her of its dark past, but I should have seen it coming.

I may have remained silent but she wanted an answer. "Kylo."

"I did nothing wrong," I defensively countered. "This was the only way I could think of ridding the Light from you. The Dark Side is where you're supposed to be, yet you won't let yourself fall."

"I only started training today-"

"I expected you to be one hundred percent on my side since you knelt before me in front of Snoke. Your new name wasn't just for show, it was to state that the teenage girl from Earth has been destroyed by Darth Shadow. You should be acting that way instead and taking this seriously, but you just keep playing me and I am stupid enough to go along with it. If I treated you even a percentage of how Snoke treated me during training..." I fought back shuddering at that thought. "You would be on your hands and knees thanking me for being so lenient. You would be begging for mercy, or breaks, or even just a drink of water...do you understand how lucky you have it? I don't think you do. You claim to know me so well, yet you don't fully appreciate every flipping second I'm not constantly at your throat to be better or train harder. You have no idea how I should be treating you yet I'm not. You have no idea."

I was breathing heavily when I was done, feeling a little better since I vented. Yet a little lightsaber destruction would be better...

Summer POV

I listened to every word he said, waiting for him to finish before I spoke. "Kylo, I am thankful that you're nice to me, believe me. I would want nothing more. As for being your apprentice, I'm sorry if I haven't been acting like it. I just...feel like I don't belong on the Dark Side. When I connected with the Force, I feel the Light and it enlightens me like words can't describe. Why would I want to embrace anything but that?"

"I feel your Light, no doubt. But with my training, it will be destroyed and you will become my Sith Apprentice." His gaze intensified. "We made a promise and I expect it to be kept."

I really wish there was a way out of this but I concealed my disappointment. "It will be. I just need time."

He exhaled loudly. "That is not something we have."

* * * * * *

Kylo told me to meditate longer, but after another hour, I was getting bored and stiff. I couldn't get myself to reconnect with the Force. My mind had so many thoughts running through it, a good percentage pertaining to Kylo, there was no way I could.

Knowing proceeding would be a waste of time, I stood up, pinched myself to make sure I wasn't in another vision, then headed back inside the Temple. I was originally heading towards the cave, when I paused outside a room, hearing voices inside. I remained on the edge of the doorway (the door was missing), peaking my head around the corner.

Kylo Ren was having a discussion (or now since I see it maybe an argument) with a holographic person even taller than him. The person had his back to me and was wearing a hooded robe.

"She is making progress but it's a slow process," Kylo said, walking in my direction. He paused halfway across the room and turned back to the holoprojector. "This is something that can't be rushed."

The hologram followed Kylo around the room, rotating enough to where I could see his face. Not that I needed to. The voice was an easy giveaway.

"Her pledge to the Dark Side is mandatory before training," Snoke said, sounding even more raspy from the connection. "We discussed this. Have you forgotten?"

Kylo seemed at a loss of words. "No Supreme Leader, I remember the conversation clearly. I am trying my hardest-"

"Which clearly isn't hard enough. If you can't force her to the Dark Side before sunset tomorrow, bring her to me."

I swallowed nervously as Kylo's fists clenched tomorrow. "I will make it happen."

Snoke nodded, skeptical and doubtful. "I'll believe it when I see proof. I look forward to better news tomorrow then?"

"You won't be disappointed," Kylo promised before the hologram disappeared.

Once Snoke was out of sight, he let out a stressed sigh, running his hands through his hair. After taking a few deep breaths, he turned towards the doorway. "Come out Summer. I know you're spying on me."

I cursed beneath my breath as I walked inside. "I really wasn't trying to eavesdrop. I just heard voices and-"

"I don't want to hear it," he snapped. "You were supposed to be meditating back on the field."

I bit my lip. "I know. I just...needed a break. I've had a rough day with the visions. Thought I'd turn in early after some dinner."

His stare saw right through me, yet I wasn't technically lying. "Training doesn't end until I say it does."

I frowned. "Well, could you spare me for the day?"

"Perhaps..." His eyes pierced me again then he nodded. "Very well. I'll head back into the cave and bring back our survival gear. Inside are the instant meals as well as water canisters and sleeping bags."

If I was drinking, I would have spat it out all over him. "Wait, we're spending the night here?"

"We're staying here as long as it takes for you to advance to my pleasing." A smug smile gave me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. "I suggest you make yourself comfortable."

What have I gotten myself into...

Poe Dameron POV

I groaned as the bed shook again, leaning my head over the side to see the culprit clearly. "Beebee-ate, do you understand what time it is?"

He chirped back at me, reciting the exact time to the second. I tried not to roll my eyes, remembering I was talking to a droid. He doesn't understand how humans get tired and need sleep. Yet when he needs to recharge that's a different story. "Look, can't this wait until morning?"

He swiveled his head from side to side as if shaking his head no. I sighed, leaning forward onto my elbow. "Fine. What is it?"

A string of beeps ran out of him so fast I couldn't make out half of it. "Whoa buddy, slow down! I can't understand a thing you're saying."

BB-8 repeated himself, clear enough to where I could understand his point. Though I wish I didn't. My eyes widened with alarm. "Are you sure?"

Now his head rocked forwards and backwards as if nodding.

"How can you be positive? Do you have proof?"

Another round of beeps. "A photograph is perfect. Artoo gave you info? How did he get it?"

More binary flowed out of him. "Sounds like a legit enough source. I'm on it."

I flew out of bed, running into the bathroom and splashing my face with water to wake myself up more. I threw on something more presentable then dashed out of the room, BB-8 right on my heels.

I debated on where General Organa could be, though knowing her, she was probably still working. When BB-8 sharply turned down a different hallway, I stopped. "Hey! Where are you going?"

The droid didn't stop rolling, instead just rotating his head back to me and whistling to keep up with him. Not having a chance to argue, I took off after him, wondering what he was planning.

He led me throughout the underground tunnels of our base until finally stopping at a door. I arrived beside him, out of breath. "Next time...we're going...with my plan. Okay?"

BB-8 bumped himself against the door, trying to make it open. I scanned the door then looked at him. "We have to go inside? I thought the information needed to get to Leia. What room is this?"

He didn't reply, merely "nodding" at my question.

I shrugged, pressing a code on the wall panel. It will either notify whoever was inside to let me in or open at my command if it was empty.

Not even a minute later it opened and I stood at attention, trying to hide my shock. Of all the people in this base...

"General Organa. My deepest apologies for disturbing you in your personal quarters... " I glared at BB-8, who seemed to have a halo over his domed head. "My droid didn't notify me beforehand that this was your room."

She waved dismissively at me. "Don't bother with the proper protocol. That means nothing to me at this hour. Right now, we're just Poe and Leia. No general, no commander, no titles. Okay?"

I nodded. "Yes Gen-I mean, Leia."

She laughed then let BB-8 and I inside, the door shutting automatically behind us.

Her room was surprisingly basic, no better than mine, and the the casual way she dressed reminded me that she is just a regular woman, once again strung into the troubles of the galaxy.

She led me over to a couch and table, urging me to sit. "Please. Let's discuss what your droid desires of me."

I paused, bewildered that she already knew the reason I was here. I didn't ask, just going along with it. "Um, okay. Beebee-ate, show her what you told me."

BB-8 rolled up in front of the table and leaned back as a hologram was projected from his camera. It was extremely distorted and fuzzy. Honestly, I couldn't figure out exactly what were looking at.

"Can you adjust the resolution?" Leia asked the adorable droid.

BB-8 chirped back negatively, saying this was the best he could make it. Leia sat back against the seat, not discouraged but determined to solve this. "Poe, what do you see?"

I shrugged. Then, remembering who I was sitting next to, gave a more appropriate response. "Well, it's hard to say really. Most of the photo has a green hue, so perhaps it was taken in a forest or maybe from behind a bush? See how it's slightly clearer in the center? Very good covering to protect whoever took the photo, but not good enough for the resolution."

Leia leaned forward again, eager for another shot at it. "You have a point. It very well could be treetops...so this photo was either taken from the sky or on the ground."

"Ground more likely," I kindly pointed out. This may be an informal visit but she still outranks me. "Look very closely. The top of the picture turns from green to blue. That's probably the sky. It may still be an aerial view, but I'm leaning towards a forest floor."

"Good eye," she complemented, making me beam. "Beebee-ate, where did you get this photo?"

BB-8 chirped back at reply.

I translated for her, in case she wasn't as fluent as I am. "It was Artoo, Gen-I mean Leia," I said, catching myself again. "He discovered this photo from...where again?"

BB-8 beeped and this time Leia answered him. She speaks more fluent droid than I thought. "Devaron. That's where...oh no."

I noticed she went suddenly pale. "Leia?"

"Zoom in," she orderer. "I want to see the center of the photo better."

The picture grew and a silvery image with wings appeared. "That's just a bird. Nothing to worry about."

She was entranced with R2-D2's findings. "That's no bird...that's a shuttle."

Now I felt sick. A shuttle with excessively large wings? I only know of one person who owns that model. "So that means..."

Leia looked as if she was either going to faint or vomit. "My son is returning to Luke's Jedi Temple to train his new apprentice."

Chapter 11 is complete! Sorry it took longer than expected. :)

IMPORTANT (Parts of this is from the canon novel The Weapon of the Jedi, which btw is excellent). For those who may not have read the book, Devaron was visited by Luke Skywalker when he was just beginning his training. The place was already in ruins when he arrived, thanks to the Empire. Before he left, he swore to return, for a reason the writer did not state. I am guessing it was to train the new Jedi Order. Perhaps he rebuilt the Temple, only to have Kylo later destroy it when he revolted. I'm trying to keep this story as close to canon as possible. Whether this is true or not, I am going with this theory for the story until proved otherwise in The Last Jedi or Episode 9. :)

Let me know what you think of the chapter! Comments are always welcome! Tell me how I'm doing! I love hearing from my followers! :D

Is there any character you would like to appear or see more of? Let me know! I might try to incorporate them into the story! :)

Pic of the chapter: This artwork goes so well with the chapter. It's exactly like what Summer saw in her vision. The Temple, the jungle, Kylo ready to kill...it's actually really creepy how alike it is lol
