MIA'S POV
I've been at the studio with Hailee a few times this week and Kayla's coming over today, for more acting lessons. I'm not starting singing lessons for a while because the singing instructor is really busy.
After my shower, I change into a black-and-white striped crop top, some denim ripped jeans, and Adidas. I put my hair into two French braids, which Anna taught me how to do yesterday, and I put on some light makeup.
I head downstairs, where Anna is waiting for me with pancakes. I sit down next to her and we eat.
"Good morning," Anna smiles.
"Morning," I reply, shoving a fork full of pancake into my mouth.
"So, tomorrow, my makeup artist, Shelly, and hair stylist, Cara, will be here by nine tomorrow," she tells me. "Just make sure you're ready."
When we finish eating, I put my plate in the sink, then the doorbell rings.
"Perfect timing," I say as I open the door for Kayla.
"Good morning, ladies," Kayla smiles, coming into the living room.
"Morning," Anna and I reply in unison.
"Let's get started." Kayla sits down on the couch, with me sitting with her, and Anna going upstairs to shower.
We work more on facials, expression, and my crying on cue. Then, she pulls out her phone and searches something up.
"How are you on improv?" Kayla asks me.
"Um..." I think. "I don't know."
"Let's try it," Kayla suggests. "Pretend to be upset about something and make up the lines as you go."
I pretend to be a girl being bullied and I cry to add to it, adding a few sobs in between my words.
"That was great, Mia!" Kayla high-fives me. "Now, for the next one, do something comical. Again, make up the lines as you go."
I say some funny lines, making Kayla laugh a little. By the time I'm done, Kayla is in tears laughing.
"Oh my God!" Kayla laughs. "You're hilarious!"
"It was really that funny?" I ask, chuckling a little.
"Do you see the tears?" She points to the tears in her eyes, which makes me laugh. "Anyway, that's it for improv." She looks at her phone. "Oh, it's time for me to go anyway."
"Aw, okay," I pout. "I'll see you Monday."
She walks out and just as the door closes, Anna comes downstairs.
"What did you guys work on?" Anna asks.
"Just my crying, facials, expression... stuff like that," I reply.
Just then, I get a FaceTime from Hailee.
"Hey, Hai. What's up?" I answer.
"I was just heading to the studio. Do you want to come?" She asks.
"Um..." I look at Anna, who just nods, letting me know I can go. "Sure. I'd love to."
"Alright. I'll come by and pick you up," she smiles before hanging up.
Anna and I sit on the couch and she just smiles at me.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I shift uncomfortably.
"Well, it's just that you've only been her for a few weeks and you've already been signed with a record label. I'm so proud," she smiles.
"Thanks." I lay my head on her shoulder and she lays her head on mine.
The doorbell rings and we race to get it, me beating her there.
"Haha." I stick my tongue out at her, then open the door. "Hey, Hai." I wave goodbye to Anna. "Bye, Anna."
"Bye! Have fun!" She calls. "Hailee, please have her back by eight."
"Will do, Anna." Hailee gets into the car.
I sit in the passenger seat and Hailee turns on The Greatest Showman soundtrack. I sing along and know every single word.
When we arrive, we sign in and as I'm looking at the list, I see that Selena Gomez is next! I could meet her!
"Okay, Mia," Rick says when he walks in. "Hailee's been writing some songs that you two can do as duets, then we'll start with some singles."
"Okay!" I eagerly reply.
Hailee and I go into the booth and sing the words on the page in front of us as music plays through the headphones. We have to redo some songs a few times because we mess up words or harmonies and die laughing.
Once we're done with that, we come out of the booth and listen to it, making adjustments along the way.
"That was so good!" Hailee exclaims, high-fiving me with both hands and our finger intertwine.
"Thank you for this opportunity, to the both of you," I smile.
"Anytime, kid," Rick smiles. "I'll let you guys know when it will be released on iTunes and Spotify."
"Thank you!"
Hailee and I sign out and as we're walking out, I see Selena Gomez walking in the parking lot.
"Hey! You're Mia Kendrick, right?" Selena stops when she sees us.
"Yeah, I am," I smile.
"And, you're Hailee Steinfeld." Selena points at Hailee, who just nods.
"I'm a huge fan of yours!" I compliment.
"Aw, thank you!" Selena laughs a little. "I love your mom and I'm sure you'll be a star someday. And, Hailee, I love your music!"
"Thank you," Hailee smiles.
I check the time on my phone. 7:45. I nudge Hailee and show her, reminding her that I have to be home by eight.
"Well, Selena, Anna wants Mia home by eight, so we have to go, but it was nice talking to you!" Hailee hugs her.
I hug Selena and we walk back to the car.
"Taco Bell?" Hailee asks.
"Sure," I answer.
We pull up to Taco Bell and order our food, getting something for Anna too.
When Hailee drops me off at home, I hug her goodbye before walking up to my porch and closing the front door behind me.
I run up the stairs to Anna's room and I knock on the door.
"Come in," Anna calls.
"Hey." I walk in. "I got you some food." I hold up the bag.
She gasps, "I love you."
I just laugh and sit on the bed with her. We open our bags and eat while watching On My Block.
