16:30, 14 June 2018MIA'S POV
My alarm goes off at nine, just like Anna told me to. I sit up from my bed and stretch. I get up to go shower, then come back out wearing a floral tank top, denim ripped jeans, and some gladiator sandals. My hair is in a side braid and I have some natural makeup on.
I walk downstairs around ten and make myself some cereal. I sit down at the island to eat it, scrolling through my phone.
A few minutes later, Anna comes downstairs.
"Oh, good. You're up," she says, walking over to the pantry to get herself some cereal. "We should leave at 10:30. It's 10:15 now."
"Okay," is all I reply, a little shaky.
"You okay?" Anna asks when she sits down.
I turn to face her. "Honestly, I'm kind of nervous to tell people about me being your daughter. What if they don't like me?"
"Baby, they'll love you." Anna holds both of my hands. "I do."
I just smile and stand up, wrapping my arms around her. We both look at the time. 10:27.
"We should go," Anna says, grabbing her keys.
We head out of the house and jam to Ariana Grande the whole way there. The photoshoot is taking place at the beach.
We arrive at Venice Beach and we get out of the car. There's no one here because we reserved the beach for the photoshoot.
"Hi, Anna," the photographer smiles.
"Hi, Gracie," Anna replies. "This is Mia. She's going to be modeling with me if that's okay."
"Of course it's okay," Gracie smiles. "Hi, Mia. I'm Gracie."
"Nice to meet you," I say.
We instantly get started. We get put into a black skater dress with a sparkly collar and some combat boots. They take my braid out and let my wavy here fall down my back. They let me keep the makeup that I have on.
Gracie is telling us what poses to do and stuff the whole time.
"Anna, put your arms around her."
"Mia, get on Anna's back."
"Hug each other."
The other times are just us running around and laughing as Gracie takes more pictures of us.
"Thank you, ladies. These are beautiful," Gracie smiles when the photoshoot is over.
"Thank you so much, Gracie." Anna hugs her, then I hug her soon after.
Gracie leaves and Anna and I look through her phone. Gracie also took some pictures on Anna's phone so we can look through them and have them for our own.
Anna and I sit down in the sand and choose the photos we want to post. I choose the one of us laughing and running, and the one with me on her back. Anna has the one of us laughing and the one of her arms wrapped around me.
I take a deep breath before opening the Instagram app and caption it:
'My life was turned upside down, and I couldn't be more grateful for you, Anna. I love you.'
I take another deep breathing before pressing 'send'. My phone instantly blows up with notifications and people following me. I then see that Anna tagged me in a post, so I click on it and it's captioned:
'I still can't believe you're actually here. My best friend. My daughter. I love you.'
I smile when I read her caption.
I get a lot of texts from kids in my old school in Arizona and comments, likes, and follows on Instagram.
"I love you." Anna says, wrapping her arms around my small body.
"I love you too, Anna," I smile.
"Anyway, dinner?" Anna asks.
"Um... Taco Bell?"
"OH MY GOD, WE'RE SO MUCH ALIKE!" Anna screams. "Let's go!"
I laugh, getting up from the couch. On the way to Taco Bell, I get a call from Brittany.
"Hey!" I answer. I move the camera so Anna can be in the frame.
"Hey, girl!" Anna waves.
"Hey!" Brittany smiles. "Congrats, you two. I just saw your posts."
"Thanks," I smile.
"Where are you guys on your way to?" Brittany asks.
"Taco Bell," Anna answers.
"Of course you are." Brittany playfully rolls her eyes. "Well, I'll let you go now, but just wanted to say, I'm proud of you both. Love you."
"Love you, Britt!" Anna and I say at the same time.
We hang up as soon as we get to Taco Bell. We go through the drive-thru again, but we go home to eat it instead of eating in the car.
When we get home, we sit at the kitchen island and start to eat our tacos.
"So, Mia," Anna starts, "Ellen called me yesterday and she wants me to go on her show on Saturday. I think she wants me to talk about you. Would you be okay with that?"
"Yes!" I exclaim. "Would I be going to?"
"Obviously," Anna laughs.
"Yay!" I squeal. I crumble up my trash and throw it away. "Well, I have some school to do, so I'll be upstairs if you need me."
"Okay. Love you," Anna smiles.
