62 - The End of Sun Star
11:48, 22 July 2025"No offense, but I'm not sure I trust your plan."
"I don't trust my plan either," Fuyuka scoffed. "Roll with it."
Yozora, at the moment, could properly sustain up to four constellations, five at a stretch. However, every one of them had a faint trace of Yozora's chakra signature.
Fuyuka's Stellar Snare had a trace of chakra, sure, but it wasn't a lot. However, if she created a large star construct via 'that freelance star-thing making Denra trick that she still didn't have a name for' (name TBD), then it was possible to charge a large amount of chakra into it.
Kyomu might be a trained sensor, but too many chakra signatures would make it difficult for him to teleport freely, his only main power.
Yozora summoned three Aquila, charging chakra through them. Fuyuka followed, leaving large, chakra-heavy translucent blue cubes around the room.
"What are you planning?" Kyomu said through gritted teeth. The next time Fuyuka threw a Stellar Snare at him, though, she noted how he jumped backwards instead of teleporting.
"Keep it up, Yozora!" the blue haired girl shouted, ignoring Kyomu's question. Nodding, Yozora mounted one of his star-birds, creating two more to fly around and act annoying.
Fuyuka stayed on the semi-defensive, throwing the occasional Snare but not too aggressively. Kyomu focused on dodging, but it was evident he noticed their scheming. At least he didn't know what they were scheming.
It took a while to fill the room with moving chakra signatures. As expected, Kyomu's teleports were becoming more hesitant.
From his Aquila, Yozora shot Fuyuka a quick nod. The blue haired girl turned back to Kyomu, two water cats appearing beside her and lunging forward.
Once the two had backed Kyomu into a corner, he teleported.
While Fuyuka slowly drove him back, Yozora had been shifting the stagnant chakra-signatures backwards. At this moment, Kyomu's perception of where he was in the room was several meters off.
So when he teleported backwards, he materialized right in the solid wall.
Mitsuka was good at pulling bullshit moves out of nowhere. Not Naruto-level unexpected, of course, but good nonetheless.
The Sora's Whirlwind and Stormwind armaments are formed by specific control of air and wind, gathering a high amount of chakra and rapidly moving oxygen around them. This can also be applied in different ways, gathering wind in other locations.
One of the reasons the armaments are difficult despite their simple concepts, is that those using it must be skilled at modulating oxygen to keep up a steady air supply, as the armament cuts off lots of external air.
Fire burns oxygen quickly.
"Naku, you do whatever. I have a plan," Mitsuka instructed. Normally Naku would never let his younger sibling order him around, but Mitsuka was good at pulling weird moves thanks to her years of pranking experience that could rival Naruto (NEVER let Mitsuka and Naruto interact). "Fine. Make it quick."
Regenerating his Stormwind Armament, Naku continued dashing around and trying to hit Hoka. The fire user managed to stay out of the way by aggressively throwing fire at him. Sure, she wasn't completely unharmed, but due to naturally having a larger attack range, she was at an advantage.
Thankfully, Hoka didn't like to think (head empty, just FIRE), so she focused on fighting Naku instead of questioning what Mitsuka's obscure hand signs were. The hazel haired girl reinforced her Stormwind Armament, slowly moving it towards Hoka as Naku fought.
Again, Hoka was a pretty aggressive fighter so she didn't notice as a thin layer of wind gathered around her.
"Hey, you, what are you doing?" Mitsuka cursed slightly as the fire user glanced suspiciously at her. Mitsuka returned with an innocent smile. "Tag team fighting."
It turns out the orange haired girl really wasn't the brightest one around, because she went straight back to fighting.
It took a few minutes of Naku suffering for Mitsuka to fully wrap her armament around Hoka without it being visible or audible. She clapped her hands together. "Naku, it's done!"
Hoka paused, mid fireball-throw. "What's done?"
It was only at that point when the fire user noticed the air thinning around her. She quickly extinguished the flame in her hands, hazel eyes narrowing. "Wait up. What did you do?"
The Sora siblings high fived each other. Mitsuka beamed. "No more oxygen for you."
The hazel haired girl started further down the tunnel, gesturing to her brother. "Come on, Naku, we need to find Fuyuka and Yozora."
"Don't order me around, I'm the older sibling!"
Fuyuka did not know how teleporting worked physically, so she had absolutely no evidence her plan would work. She absolutely did not know whether it would kill Kyomu.
Thankfully, however, it worked.
The blue haired girl turned to Yozora, just about to announce their victory, when a crack formed in the wall where Kyomu had teleported into. Her pale blue eyes widened slightly. "Yozora. Aquila, now. The cave is collapsing. I don't know how far it'll reach."
"Right," the purple haired boy yelped, two glowing star-birds appearing in a flash of light.
The two zoomed through the quickly crumbling cave, searching for Naku and Mitsuka. They found the Sora siblings collaboratively trying to keep the wind barrier around Hoka, who had resorted to trying to escape the barrier rather than get rid of it. She had already tried burning it, but it only wasted more oxygen.
"What the fuck did you two do?" Naku demanded, bolting upright.
"Kyomu teleported into the cave wall which apparently messed up the entire structural integrity of the cave so it's collapsing now," Fuyuka explained in one breath while Yozora summoned two more Aquila. "What happened to the pyromaniac?"
At this point, Hoka's eyes were beginning to flutter shut. Mitsuka shrugged. "Suffocation is a perfectly painful way to die."
"Terrifying, thank you," Fuyuka replied with a deadpan expression. "Hurry up,we're getting out of here."
"We can't maintain the wind barrier if we leave," Naku argued, quickly shifting the Stormwind as Hoka rolled sideways to dodge a boulder.
"Leave it, I don't think she has enough energy to keep up," Yozora decided, glancing nervously at the crumbling roof. "Safety first. Can you maintain it for a few minutes?"
The siblings had a brief debate, before Mitsuka clambered onto the Aquila. "Probably. We hope for the best."
Naku followed quickly, gesturing urgently. Yozora complied, the four Aquila quickly zooming further down the tunnel.
"We might not make it!" Naku warned, flinching as a boulder dislodged itself and crashed onto the ground a meter away from him. He then blasted away a chunk of pebbles falling straight towards them, glancing towards the exit.
"We're going as fast as possible!" Yozora replied, a bead of sweat dripping down his forehead from channelling so much chakra into his summons.
"I'll maintain the fire girl's wind barrier," Mitsuka announced. "Yozora, keep us flying quickly. Fuyuka, Naku, protect us!"
"Don't order me around!" the brown haired boy complained, but he complied, blasting another rock out of the air with wind. Fuyuka summoned two water cats, who held a Stellar Snare in between them and began scooping up stray stones.
As the four approached the exit, one stray chunk of cave roof escaped their defenses, tumbling straight towards the bird Fuyuka sat on. The blue haired girl cursed- the exit was too far, so her only option was to go back.
"I'll catch up!" she called, jumping off the Aquila and lunging back into the cave just as the boulder crushed the star-bird under it, blocking off the sunlight from the crumbling tunnel.
