20:23, 29 December 2016*A few days later*
I walked home from school and went up to my room to change into clothes to exercise. *Picture above*
I quickly tied my hair up and put my headband on before skipping down the spiral stairs and filling it with ice water. I closed my bottle and went down to the train place. I gasped at the sight in front of me, put my bottle aside and rushed towards Derek. "What are you doing to him?" I asked, watching as Jackson was being forced onto the floor by Boyd and Isaac. Derek waved me off and I growled. "What happened to you on the night of the full moon?" Derek asked and Jackson stank of fear. "What? Nothing. Nothing happened." Jackson stammered but his heart beat accelerating was giving him away. "You're lying." Derek stepped closer to Jackson and so did I. "No, wait. No, wait, I can - I can prove it. I taped myself." Jackson embarrassed himself and Isaac laughed in a mocking kind of way. "You taped yourself?" He laughed some more.
"Yes. It was the full moon. And maybe while you were curled in the corner having an existential crisis about turning into a monster, I was preparing for the so - called gift your big, bad Alpha promised me, and what did I get? Nothing. You want proof? Let me get the video." Jackson spat at Isaac. I sighed as Derek shook his head. "No. No, I have a better idea." He smirked and I narrowed my eyes at him. "What is that?" Jackson asked as the boys forced him onto his knees completely. "Guys!" I tried to interfere but Erica took a hold of me and Derek's head snatched in our direction. "Erica. Let. Her. Go." He growled and Erica immediately let go of me.
"You know, Jackson, you've always been kind of a snake - And everyone knows a snake can't be poisoned by its own venom." Derek took out the piece of glass from the pool and forced Jackson mouth open, letting the poison from the reptile drip into his mouth. Jackson started choking and gagging. I gasped and knelt down beside him. "You're still a snake, Jackson, just not the one we're looking for." Derek turned around and walked into the train as Jackson fell to the floor and I followed Derek.
"Are you serious?!" I yelled, grabbing his arm. He snatched his arm out of my grip and spun around. "What do you want me to do huh?! Go around asking people. Hey are you the monster that paralyses people and tears them apart?! I don't know why you haven't understood yet but we are all in danger. And that Kanima is killing more and more people whilst the Argent's think it's us! You can leave and do your own thing if you want." I didn't budge so he stepped closer. "Go!" He shouted in my face and I turned around, running into the woods alone.
I heard bikes of some sort and hid but it was too late, I was shot with an arrow. I yelped and tried to scramble away but then I blacked out.
Scott's POV
I was standing at my locker, looking for Lucia. I found Lydia and Allison but Lucia hadn't been in school. "Dude, I just talked to my dad, who just talked to Jackson, and I've got really terrible, horrible, very, very bad news." Stiles slapped my arm. "I think I already know." I whispered. "All right, I only found one thing online called a kanima. It's a werejaguar from South America that goes after murderers." Stiles explained and I nodded. "That thing was not a jaguar."
"Yeah, and I'm not exactly a murderer." Stiles defended himself. "Yeah, but you did see it kill somebody, which is probably why it tried to kill you. And it's still trying to kill you, and it probably won't stop until you're dead." I told my best friend and he sighed. "You know, sometimes I really begin to question this friendship." He muttered before walking off.
I sat in Coaches class and there still was no sign of Lucia. "Hey, testicle left and right. What the hell is a kanima?" Jackson tried to get our attention and at the last sentence Stiles and I spun around. "All right, listen up. A quick warning before we begin our review. Some of you, like McCall, might want to start their own study groups, because tomorrow's midterm is so profoundly difficult - I'm not even too sure I could pass it. Okay, I need a volunteer at the board to answer the first question. Who's got it, huh? Come on, let's go, buddy." Coach explained and Jackson glared at us. "Paralyzed from the neck down. Do you have any idea what that feels like?" He hissed and Stiles nodded. "I'm familiar with the sensation." He answered and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Wait - why would Derek test you? Why would he think that it's you?" I asked and Jackson shrugged. "How should I know?" He spat. "Wait, do they think it's Lydia?" Stiles asked worriedly. "I don't know, all I heard was her name and something about chemistry." Jackson told us and my eyes grew wide. "Jackson! Do you have something you want to share with the rest of the class?" The Coach yelled.
*In chemistry*
"Einstein once said, Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; And I'm not sure about the universe. I myself have encountered infinite stupidity. So to combat the plague of ignorance in my class, you're going to combine efforts through a round of group experiments. Let's see if two heads are indeed better than one. Or in Mr. Stilinski's case, less than one. Erica, you take the first station. You'll start with - I didn't ask for volunteers. Put your hormonal little hands down. Start with Mr. McCall. All right, next two." I groaned and sat next to Erica. "Whatever you're thinking about doing, wait. Give me a chance to talk to Derek." I warned her and she put her hand on my knee so I moved it. "Why don't you talk to me instead?" Erica whispered scooting closer as her hand traveled up my leg. "I don't know what you're talking about." I answered in disgust. "If I were Lucia, I'd be wanting you - All the time." She tried to seduce me but it was just disgustinh.
"You're not my type." I grabbed her arm and roughly pushed it back but she nearly dug her claws into my arm. "I'm exactly your type." She growled. "Switch." Mr. Harris said.
The rest of Chemistry was a disaster, I mean nothing happened but I embarrassed myself. I could sense Derek outside so I took Allison and Stiles to the side. "Derek's outside waiting for Lydia." I whispered and Allison sighed. "Waiting to kill her?" She asked and I nodded. "If he thinks she's the kanima, then yes, especially after what happened at the pool." I whispered back. "It's not her" Stiles tried defending her. "Stiles, she didn't pass the test, man. Nothing happened." I tried reasoning with him but he wouldn't have it. "No, it can't be her." He argued.
"It doesn't matter, because Derek thinks it's her. So either we can convince him that he's wrong, or we've got to figure out a way to protect her." Allison suggested and I nodded. "Well, I really don't think he's gonna do anything here, not at school." I told them and Allison narrowed her eyes at me. "What about after school? What if we can prove that Derek's wrong?" She proposed and Stiles bit his lip in doubt. "By three o'clock?" He asked and Allison shrugged. "There could be something in the bestiary." She replied and Stiles scoffed. "Oh, you mean the 900 - page book written in archaic Latin that none of us can read? Good luck with that." He replied sassily and Allison glared at him, as did I. "Actually, I think I know someone who might be able to translate it." Allison said. "Uh, I can talk to Derek, maybe convince him to give us a chance to prove that it's not her. But if anything happens, you guys let me handle it, okay?" I pointed at them and they nodded well Allison didn't. "What does that mean?" She asked.
"That you can't heal like I do. I just don't want you two to get hurt." I told her and she crossed her arms before getting out her crossbow. "I can protect myself." She smiled sarcastically. "Seriously, if anything goes wrong, you call me, okay? I - I don't care if your dad finds out. Call, text, scream, yell, whatever. I'll hear you and I'll find you as fast as I can. We have until 3:00." I told them and they nodded.
I was about to open the door when I turned around and caught an arrow before it hit me in the eye. I looked at Stiles in shock. "Ah. Sorry. Sorry. Sensitive trigger on that." He handed the crossbow back to Allison and scratched the back of his neck.
I ran outside to talk to Derek. "At night she turns into a homicidal walking snake." He argued against me and I shook my head. "I'm not going to let you kill her." I crossed my arms. "Who said I was gonna do it? I don't know why you think you have to protect everyone now, Scott, but even so, Lydia has killed people and she's gonna do it again, and next time, it's gonna be one of us." Derek tried to talk me into believing that it was the right thing to do. "What if you're wrong?" I argued. "She was bitten by an Alpha. It's her." Derek kept his ground but so did I.
"You saw that thing up close. You know it's not like us." This time I tried to talk him into believing me. "But it is! We're all shapeshifters. You don't know what you're dealing with. It happens rarely and it happens for a reason." Derek whisper yelled. "What reason?" I asked and Derek sighed. "Sometimes the shape you take reflects the person that you are. Even Stiles calls her cold - blooded." Derek brought up a good argument so I sighed. "Well, what if she's immune? What if she's got something inside of her that makes her immune to the bite, which is why she didn't get paralyzed?" I tried really hard to convince him. "No one's immune! I've never seen it or heard of it. It's n - it's never happened." Derek groaned.
"What about Jackson?" I rose my eyebrows and Derek shook his head. "That's why you tested him, isn't it? Because you gave him what he wanted, didn't you?" I growled and Derek looked like he was about to give up. "Scott -" But I interrupted him. "Peter said the bite either kills you or turns you. You were probably hoping that he would die. But nothing happened, right? And you have no idea why, do you?" I provoked him and he groaned. "No." He admitted and I subtly grinned. "Well, I have a theory. Lydia's immune, and somehow she passed it on to Jackson. You know I'm right."
"No!" Derek yelled. "You cannot do this!" I shouted back at him. "Look, I can't let her live! You should have known that!" Derek said and I crossed my arms. "I was hoping I would convince you, but then - I wasn't counting on it." I smirked and he glared at me. I tured to leave but he called, "Hey do you know where Lucia is?!" I turned around and shook my head. "Why?" I asked but he just shook his head and left.
I rushed past the changing rooms. "McCall! Get over here! You know I'm gonna require an explanation for this." Coach showed me broken Lacrosse gear and I helplessly looked at him. "You know there are certain responsibilities to being a captain of a lacrosse team." He told me and I raised my hand. "Co - captain." I corrected him and he nodded. "Okay, partial responsibilities." Coach admitted and I took the gear off him. "Where did you find these?" I asked. "Under the bleachers, and you know somebody's gonna have to pay for them." Coach told me and I nodded before saying, "They're Danny's."
"Oh, great, mystery solved. Why don't you tell your buddy Danny to take care of his equipment, or I'm gonna make you take care of his equipment for him. Now, do you really want to be taking care of Danny's equipment all the time?" He poked my chest and I shrugged. "That depends. Are we still talking about lacrosse pads?" I asked and he looked at me weirdly so I shook my head and walked off.
"Dude, what did you do to my pads?" Danny asked as I gave them to him. "Me? You're the one who was wearing them." I furrowed my eyebrows and Danny shook his head. "No, I wasn't." He denied and I sighed quietly. "What?" I asked. "I was in goal, remember? Different pads." He reminded me and I nodded. "Then who was wearing these?" I asked and Danny groaned. "Someone who owes me a new set of pads." He simply replied and I got a call from Stiles. "It's me." Allison spoke into the phone. "What's wrong" I asked, walking out of the library. "You need to get here now. Right now." She told me and I nodded. "Okay, I'm leaving now. On my way." I rushed to my house.
I found Isaac trying to fight Stiles so I grabbed him off Stiles and slashed his face with my claws, kicking him against the wall and earning a few bruises myself. I ran upstairs to find Allison looking down at Erica. I smiled and dragged Erica out of the house, throwing Erica and Isaac in front of Derek and Boyd's feet. Allison and Stiles stood behind me as Derek smirked at me.
"I think I'm finally getting why you keep refusing me, Scott. You're not an omega, you're already an Alpha of your own pack. But you know you can't beat me." He told me and I crossed my arms. "I can hold you off until the cops get here." I smirked as Derek could hear the cops coming. "Get them out of here." Derek commanded to Boyd but froze when the Kanima escaped over my roof. "Would someone please tell me what the hell is going on?" Lydia came storming out of the house and Derek's jaw dropped as I whsipered, "It's Jackson."
Derek nodded beside me. The others left as the cops arrived so I pulled Derek aside "Where the hell is Lucia? She wasn't in school!" Derek clenched his jaw and looked at the ground. "Did you kill her?!" I whisper yelled and his head shot up. "What?! No!" He yelled. "She left okay?! She never came back after our fight yesterday! Now let me get the Kanima." Derek shifted and ran after the Kanima.
