Chapter 5 - The betrayal of Severus Snape

10:08, 30 January 2012

Severus Snape's P.O.V.

They had agreed, together, that it would be best if she stayed with him. He wanted to be there for her for the rest of the pregnancy even if he hadn't been allowed in the beginning. He had understood exactly why she hadn't wanted to tell him. He was a jerk, he was cold hearted, he was cruel and entirely unfair. It came with the territory, came with the life he had lived. He lost one woman to another man because he had been cruel to her in a moment of anger. He had called her a fowl name and now he almost lost the second woman he loved to his stupid pride and this woman (the second woman for lack of a better term) he loved even more then the first one. It had taken him far to long to realize that and now he knew it may be to late. He let out a small sigh as he sat up in his bed. He felt a hand slide across his chest as she sat up behind him and rested her head against his back, her hand resting his his bare chest. He couldn't help but give a half smile. He had been doing that a lot with her. He wanted to stay like this with her forever, but he knew that wasn't possible, the war was here and it was pounding on the door to Hogwarts. He heard it then, the noise, the sound of death eaters entering the castle. The boy had done it and now it was time for Severus to play his part    "Andromeda" He pulled away from her standing up. He knew she had heard the noises as well, when he watched her start to stand up. He knew right there and then that if he didn't find a way to keep her in his office she was going to follow him out. He couldn't let her do that, she couldn't find out what he was doing. He wouldn't be able to live with himself knowing that she would hate him. He sighed as he pulled on a shirt, his pants and his robes, he grabbed his boots and pushed his feet roughly into them. "I have to go, I need you to stay here"    "Severus"    "No" he interrupted her before she could convince him otherwise. He would not put her or their baby in danger. "I need you to promise me you'll stay here, promise me you'll trust me"    "I promise" She grabbed at his robes and kissed him deeply. He was a bit surprised at first because despite sharing his quarters and sleeping in the same bed, they had never become intimate. She hugged him and he held her, but never once had they kissed. "Please come back to me"    "Andromeda"    "yes?"    "I.. I love you" he said in barely a whisper, but she heard him, he knew she head him when she made a small noise. It took him everything to admit it. She smiled at him    "I love you too, now please come back to me"    He didn't reply as he left the room. He didn't want to, but he had no choice. If he didn't show up Voldemort would ask questions. Questions that Severus would rather not answer about his personal life. He heard her make her way to the door as he leaned against the well next to the door. His eyes closed as he listened to her pound on the door and throw spells at it. His spell was too strong for her right now. Someday she would be stronger then him, but for now he would protect her and their baby from harm, even it that meant from himself. He knew she was angry with him and she should be. He should have told here he was coming back to her, but he knew he wasn't going to be able to. He frowned, putting back on his icy facade, as he met up with the Malfoy boy and the rest of the death eaters at the entrance to Hogwarts. He hated himself for what he was about to do and he knew that Andromeda would hate him as well. Maybe it was best if she hated him, then he could protect them.    When Voldemort found out that the granddaughter of Albus Dumbledore was pregnant, he swore he would have the baby. When Severus inquired as to the reason why he replied that having a Dumbledore among his ranks would make him impossible to beat. Severus almost laughed, Voldemort didn't realize he wouldn't lived to see Severus's daughter grow up. Harry Potter would kill him before she was even a few months old, but he opted not to tell Voldemort that. He was jolted back from his  thoughts when Harry bumped into him on the stairway to the clock tower. Malfoy was already there and both he and Harry heard him disarm Albus. Severus told Harry to remain silent and not to move no matter what he heard or saw.Andromeda's P.O.V.    That bastard she thought to herself as she banged against the door hoping someone would hear her. He must have know that she would try to come after him even thought she had promised him she would stay behind. She was never one to stay put even at nine months pregnant. She cursed loudly as she threw spells at the door, hoping to break through Severus's spells, but nothing worked, he knew stronger spells then she did. She did know, thought, that one day she would be stronger then him, her Dumblodore blood would see to that, but today she was still weak and she stopped knowing it was hopeless. She sat in a desk near the door and just prayed that someone would come along and set her free. Finally after what seemed like hours, the door opened and she stared in shock and surprise at the person who opened it.    "Remus?" Andromeda said his name happily as she jumped into his arms to hug him. She had missed the man she loved like her brother. When she pulled back she could tell he was curious about her pregnancy. She looked over his shoulder as a woman with bright pink hair popped up behind him. "Tonks!"    "Andromeda" Tonks smiled after hugging her. "You look beautiful."    "Thank you" Andromeda sighed softly watching as Tonks swooned over her stomach. Andromeda took it politely but knew she looked huge. She never felt pretty when she was pregnant but other people said she looked beautiful. Severus told her almost everyday she looked absolutely lovely, which she would giggle at. When he asked why she would tell him him that lovely was not a word she would associate with him using. He would let out a small chuckle and agree with her, before holding her in his arms.     "Hey, why were you locked in Snape's office?" Remus asked curiously snapping Andromeda out of her thoughts. She looked up at him confused for a moment.     "Oh, uh ... that is a long story. Oh... I gotta find him" She pulled back from the couple and turned to go, before stopping and looking back at them. "Do you know where he went... Do you know where Sev... Snape went?"    "Last time I saw him, he was going in the direction of the clock tower." Remus replied catching her slip, but not saying anything. She smiled gratefully at his discretion. No doubt Tonks explained to him what had been going on. Tonks had come to see her when Remus hadn't heardfrom Andromeda and got worried, but that had been at a time Remus himself was unable to get away. So Tonks volunteered and she got one hell of a shock upong visiting Andromda. "Andromeda, just be careful"    "I will thanks" Andromeda took off before either of them could say a word and she assumed that they were exchanging a look behind her back.     Why was he going to the clock tower. The fighting was taking place in the lower part of the castle, or at least that's what she could tell from the noise coming from below. She stopped in front of a large window and looked out. Now the fight wasn't huge, not compared to what it would be, but it stopped her in her track. Students, teachers and even members of the order of the phoenix were fighting against death eaters. How they got into the castle she had no idea. Her grandfather had put a spell on the castle so they couldn't get in. No one could apparate in or out of the castle expect for him. A perk of being the headmaster he had said to Harry and her with a wink.    She had made her way from the window to the stairway of the clock tower without even realizing it, she was so deep in thought. She still couldn't figure out how this happened, how things got to be so out of control, and it never once occurred to her that Severus might be involved. She never thought he could be part of the reason why the death eaters got in or why things were going from bad to worse and she knew it wasn't at its worst yet and that scared her. But, no, she could never think that Severus was involved and until she had proof she refused to let herself think it. She was about to go into the clock room when she was felt a hand over her mouth and she was pulled back against the solid chest of a man. She knew immediately who it was. It was Harry. She recognized how he felt, she had been friends with him since their first year and they even dated for a bit. She leaned back into him. He was the best friend someone could have and she loved him like a brother and she knew he loved her like his sister.     She nodded to let him know that she understood that she was to remain silent and stay right where she was. She didn't mind leaning against him for some support right now. Her body was tired and she was drained, both physically and mentally. She could hear Severus smooth voice talking with her grandfather in the room behind the closed door. She couldn't hear what they were saying until she heard those two small words come from Severus's mouth. Two little words the destroyed more then one persons lives. "Avada Kedavra". Andromeda broke free of Harry and slammed open the door. With Harry on her heels they got in the room in time she see her grandfather fall from the top of the tower already dead. She cried out, the last of her family was gone, she was know the only remaining Dumbledore, then again that wasn't true. She put her hand on her stomach, there was one left with the blood of Albus Dumbledore running through their viens and now Andromeda would do anything to protect her daughter. Anything at all, even if that meant casting away the one man in her life that she had ever really loved.    "Severus," Andromeda said his name softly, so softly she was surprised anyone heard it. She knew he had heard her when he turned to face her, a look of complete shock and even shame appearing on his face before turning back to its normal look of emotionlessness. "He trusted you... I trusted you"    "You should not be here, Andromeda" He spoke sharply to her and though tears were forming in her eyes she kept her voice just as steady as if she wasn't about to cry.    "And where should I be? Locked in your office so I would never know what you've done?" Andromeda shook her head. "you should know me better, i don't do good being locked up. I've tried it before didn't care for it. I can't believe you locked me up so you could betray me."    "You were never meant to find out like this" Severus moved closer to her, but she gave him a look that seemed to stop him in his place. Even Harry hadn't dare say a word yet, though she could tell he was waiting to yell at Severus.     "Find out that you were a traitor, a bloody coward?" Her voice rose a bit and his eyes narrowed to hide emotions she assumed, were swimming around in his dark eyes, because he was always good at that. Always good at hiding his emotions, she hated that about him, she never could read him. "I hate you" she shouted at him. "I hate you and I never want to see you again"    "Fine, then get out" She heard those words again and she felt the tears. Again he had told her to get out, to leave. He must not really love her after all. All of a sudden she felt a pain, not only in her heart but in her stomach. She dropped to her knees, clutching her stomach, tears streaming down her face, her body becoming wet. She knew immediately what had happened. Her water broke. The stress and tension and the too much moving she had done, had caused her water to break and she was going into labor.  Severus moved to her side and kneeled down to help her, despite everything he did love her and their baby. "let me..."    "No, I can take care of myself" Andromeda stood up slowly pulling away from him. She turned and left the room slowly making her way down the stairs and towards the hospital wing. About half way to the hospital wing she realized she wasn't going t make it there as she grew weaker, and the pain became stronger. She collapsed on the floor. She blacked out, the last thing on her mind was the betrayal of Severus Snape.
