05:37, 31 March 2020Jackson found himself smiling at the picture of his younger self; he was holding. He had found it while searching through a box of his childhood toys.
In the picture he was standing next to another boy holding him by his waist. They were both smiling very fondly at the camera. Jackson remembers that day, he was at the park with his friend. He remembers the days and nights they spent smiling and laughing at their childish jokes. He remembers the days his stomach would make him feel weird. How his heart would speed up whenever the older boy would smile at him.
Jackson missed that feeling. At his young age he didn't understand what that feeling was, but as he got older he learned what that feeling towards the older boy was. Unfortunately for the both of them, the older boy moved back to his hometown and they both lost contact.
As Jackson grew older he searched and searched for the older boy, but never had any luck as his mother passed away and his dad was never around. He never felt that stomach churning feeling ever again. He sighed feeling pitiful for himself. Jackson took the photo out of the album and searched for a frame to put it in. He found one and placed the photo on his nightstand.
He sat down on his bed and took his phone out looking through his Instagram. He looked through his DM's, he saw messages for various girls and guys complimenting him on his photos. The messages ranged from very sweet ones to very inappropriate ones. He liked some of his friends' pictures and logged off.
He walked towards his bathroom and took a shower; he changed into some comfortable clothes and wrapped himself with his bed blankets. Before he knew it he was dreaming about his childhood.
"Jackson stop running so fast."
Jackson stopped and turned around and started laughing at the older boy who was out of breath. He stuck his tongue out at him and continued running away from the said boy. He hid himself behind a large tree by the end of the park and tried to calm his breath down.
It had been a while and Jackson turned around to see where Mark was. He started giggling when he saw the boy at the other end of the park searching for him. He quickly, but quietly started making his way towards the boy. Once he was close he ran up to him and jumped on his back causing the both of them to fall to the floor. They both fell down on the ground with an "oof".
"Jacksoooon, where were you hiding? I couldn't find you anywhere."
Jackson got up and extended his hand out for the other boy to grab. Mark grabbed his hand and with the help of Jackson he was able to stand again.
"I'm not going to tell you Mark. If I do next time I won't be able to hide there and you're going to find me."
Mark pouted at Jackson who stood on his tiptoes and patted his hair. Jackson grabbed Mark's hand and lead him towards the lake in the middle of the park. They sat there watching the ducks that swam across the lake.
An ice cream truck came by and Jackson got excited.
"Mark can we please buy some ice cream?"
Jackson looked up at Mark and gave him puppy eyes. Mark giggled and ruffled Jackson's hair.
"Of course we can Jackson, come on before they leave."
They both ran towards the ice cream man and got two scoops of ice cream on their cones. They paid the man and sat on the side of the road watching the cars pass by.
"Mark?"
"Yeah?"
"I like you."
Mark felt his face get red. He felt something warm and fuzzy go around his stomach. Mark smiled and placed his head on Jackson's shoulder.
"I like you too Jackson."
