Chapter 21: On The Edge

"What did I do?"

"I'm so stupid."

Lauren said these things to herself while pacing around the room for about an hour now. She has yet to go out of the house, rest, or even sit down.

"How did I manage to lose the love of my life?" she asked herself. "How did I manage to ruin what was perfect?"

"I'm so stupid!" Lauren pounded her fist on the wall, a jolt of electricity surged through her arm. She tightened her jaw and took in the pain.

"No you're not." she heard a voice say. She turned her head and saw Ally standing there looking at her in pity.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, wiping her face free from tear streaks. Ally shook her head and made her way over to the girl.

"Loosen up, will ya? You're too tense." the short girl playfully said. She carefully took Lauren's right hand and examined it.

"You're bleeding." she said. Lauren rolled her eyes and scoffed.

"No shit sherlock." she growled. Ally squinted her eyes at her before returning her gaze back on the bleeding hand. Lauren cursed herself for not controlling her anger, although she doesn't know where this anger is coming from. Yes, she was broken, distressed, and sad when she saw Camila leave the flat. But where did this sudden anger come from?

Is it because her fist hurts?

Or is it because she's mad about the whole situation?

She was brought out of her thoughts when she felt a stinging pain on her right hand. She winced and instinctively pulled her hand away, but Ally held on to it tightly.

Ally poured another round of alcohol, which caused another stinging sensation. She glared at the smaller girl but her gaze wasn't met. The short girl took some supplies from a small box and wrapped something around her hand. Lauren couldn't see though because Ally is blocking it. After a few seconds, Ally loosened her grip on the arm.

"There. It won't get infected anymore." she said as she wiped her hands against each other.

"Thanks Ally." Lauren said. The room was filled with silence, Lauren avoiding eye contact while Ally was patiently waiting for her.

Silence continued on for a few minutes. Lauren's head filling with voices telling her she's stupid, mindless, idiotic, and problematic. Her heart raced as the voices grew louder and more aggressive. She began to hyperventilate, her hand reaching out to her chest and grasping it. Ally instructed Lauren to breath and calm down, the older girl trying her best to stay calm and collective.

"I have an idea." Ally said right after Lauren seemed to calm down. She tugged on the green eyed girl's hand gently, encouraging her to stand up.

"Come on!" Ally said with a light tone. Lauren grimaced as she saw the short girl's aura light up a part of the darkness around her. This made her think. Maybe she really needs to lighten up, but her dark part is conquering the rest of her body and mind.

"I don't want to." She said flatly. Ally's wide smile didn't falter as she kept on playfully poking her on the sides, triggering her tickle spots.

"Allyson. Stop." Lauren tried to say sternly but failed when Ally applied pressure on a certain area.

"Ally!" Lauren screamed out, shocked by what the shorter girl just did. Ally laughed as she continuously apologized.

"OH MY GLOB! IM SO SO SORRY!" Ally raised her hands as she and Lauren continued to laugh out loud. Their laughter eventually died down.

"So.." Lauren trailed off, "where are we going?" They were now outside the door, just by the hallway.

"Just wait and you'll see." Ally said cryptically, but Lauren just took it. Not like she has a choice..

"Where the hell are we?" Lauren whispered. She eyed the establishment in front of her. "Is this what I think it is?" she turned to Ally who had a wide smile on her face.

"Yup! You're gonna have the best day of your life here!" Ally exclaimed. Her phone buzzed and she checked it real quick. "Monibear is already here."

"Mani's here?" The green eyed girl asked as they stepped inside the double glass doors. They sat on the comfortable chairs provided in the lobby. 

"Yeah. We were gonna hang out and catch up but when Dinah phoned me up, I had to stop by your place and drag you here."

Lauren felt bad. She's interrupting their hangout. She always didn't wanna be a bother, and that's what she's being right now. She ducked her head shyly and guiltily. "I can go home, if you want." she rubbed her nape. "I don't wanna ruin your day with my problems."

Ally's face contorted. She gripped Lauren's shoulders and looked her straight in the eyes. 

"No no no. We're not gonna talk about your problems. You need to let go even for a day and just relax. And no, you're not a bother." She said with as much sincerity as she could genuinely show. Lauren was about to say something that'll completely contradict her statement, but she was quick to cut her.

"No." She wagged her hand. "You are gonna come with me and Mani and we're gonna have a relaxing day." She said, more of commanded, to Lauren. "You are our friend and we care for you. You aren't the only one looking out for their loved ones. We all love you and we're always here for you. Remember that." Ally said, looking straight into those striking green eyes. She saw a smile form on Lauren's eyes and her actual mouth. Ally gave her signature bright smile.

"Thanks Allyson." Lauren said genuinely, with a wide smile. Ally engulfed her in a hug, "Come here Lolo." Ally rubbed Lauren's back as they rocked from side to side. A familiar voice interrupted their moment.

"Hey I wanna join!" Normani said as she quickly hurried to their positions and wrapped her slender arms around her friends. They hadn't done this in a while. They hadn't shared a genuine hug in a while. Too long for their liking, so this moment was precious for the three of them. One that'll last for a long time in their treasure chest of memories.

"Let's go?" Normani asked, looking at her friends. They looked at each other and gave bright smiles. 

"LET'S GO!" Lauren screamed. The receptionist gave them a dirty look and shushed them, making the three of them giggle and hurry to their first stop.

"I miss being like this." Lauren confessed. Ally and Normani turned to her.

"Miss being what?" Normani asked. Lauren looked at them, compassion written on her orbs.

"I miss being young, stupid, wild, and free." She confessed. Ally wrapped an arm around her waist, snuggling close to her. Normani gave her a sympathetic smile, knowing fully well how the green eyed girl is feeling.

"I miss being all those things too." she admitted. "But maybe it isn't to late to be all those things." she proposed. Ally eyed her weirdly, raising her brows in question. "What do you mean?"

"We can still be young, stupid, wild, and free anytime we want." She started. "We just have to put them in proper place. We don't have to be serious all the time, we don't need to be. If you take life too seriously, then where's the fun in that? We also need to live life on the edge, even just a little." This made Lauren stop from walking.

"I need to talk to her. I need to apologize." She told her friends. Ally and Normani looked at each other before agreeing on the final verdict. They both faced her with wide goofy smiles.

"Go, lovebird! Shoo shoo! Go back to your girl! Get her back!" Ally said as she made shooing actions with her hands. Lauren smiled widely before attacking her friends with a big hug.

"I love you guys, so fucking much." She said genuinely. 

"Psh! Save that for later. Now, go get your girl back!" Normani said. They broke away from their hug and shooed the green eyed girl away. 

Lauren bid them goodbye right before dashing out of the establishment, not caring if she's getting weird stares. She doesn't care. All that's in her head right now is Camila, and only Camila. Adrenaline took over her body as she ran down the street.

Ally and Normani were cheering her on, screaming 'go girl!' and 'goodluck!'s. A woman approached them with a weird look.

"Excuse me but you're disturbing other people here." she said sternly. Ally and Normani looked at each other and shrugged. 

"LIVE LIFE ON THE EDGE!" Ally sang at the top of her lungs while Normani was cheering her on.

"That's it! You're going out!" The woman said angrily. She called two other women nearby and helped push the two wild animals out.

"You're not coming back here ever again!" The woman screamed right before she shut the glass door. Ally and Normani laughed so hard that they had to clutch their stomachs.

"Oh my god that was awesome!" Ally said in between fits of laughter. "You, my friend, are an animal." Mani said, which made Ally bow playfully.

"Thank you, thank you." Ally said. After their laughter died down, Normani's face contorted.

"We just got kicked out." she said. Ally turned to her, "Then?" she asked as if they did nothing wrong. Normani looked at her like she was an alien.

"Allyson.. We just got.. Kicked. Out." she emphasized. Ally just looked at her with an entertained smile and raised brows. "So?" The short girl said.

Normani squinted her eyes. "Who are you and what have you done to Ally?" This earned a slap from the shorter girl. "Ow!"

"I don't care if we got kicked out. You said it yourself, 'Live life on the edge, even just a little.'" Ally said. "Now I'm craving some Waffle House delights!" 

Normani laughed and shook her head at her friend. "You and your Waffle House. I swear to god someday you're gonna marry a building."

Ally gave her a wink, "Like you said, live life on the edge. Maybe, just maybe, I might do that someday." she said playfully.

"I don't even know anymore.." Normani said, shaking her head. "Let's go get you your Waffle House." Ally's face brightened up.

"Yeay!" Allyson screamed out like a little kid getting ice cream.

The two of them made their way to Ally's beloved establishment while Lauren was crossing the street on a green light..

WHY DID THIS TAKE SO LONG?! - BLAME SCHOOL, EXAMS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS PLS!

But finally! Another chapter! I've been so busy the past few weeks. So much projects to do, lessons to study, feelings to hold off. My mind is honestly such a mess right now and its a fkin miracle that I finished this tonight xD
