Chapter 20: Fresh-y Goof-y

17:05, 8 July 2016

"Camila please!"

Lauren's pleading voice echoed in her mind. Her eyes shifting between the door and the girl. Her heart wanted to stay, but her mind wanted to let go. It was a serious inner struggle.

"Mila.. It's gonna be fine. Lauren will come to her senses, I mean it's Lauren." Dinah tried to make light of the situation. Camila was still pouring her tears out on Dinah's shirt. Her new shirt, that is.

"Come on Mila. Just give her some space, yeah?" Dinah said reassuringly. "That's what she probably needs the most right now. Some time to clear her head out alone. We all know Lauren. We all know how she doesn't just give up, and we all know that she needs time. And all you can do right now is give her that. You can also have some time to yourself, to reflect. When you're apart doesn't mean that you aren't together."

"Now lighten up and stop slacking!" She said with a hyped up voice. She heard Camila sniffle, then giggle. Dinah felt herself smile.

"Now you better stop crying or I'll let you buy me another shirt!" Dinah playfully threatened, which made Camila laugh. The smaller girl looked up and playfully punched the larger girl, which made her feign hurt.

"Oww." She whined. "Good thing you aren't in good shape right now or I would've punched you already."

"You love me.." Camila teased. Dinah rolled her eyes and sighed. "Just today." She said. Camila smiled and tackled her friend into a hug. The Polynesian girl wrapped her arms around the girl.

"I love you Chancho. No homo." She quickly added, to which Camila giggled. She pulled from the hug and looked at her friend.

"Thanks Dmac. Thank you for being here when I just barged in and interrupted your date without notice. Thank you for listening to my ugly ass sobbing. Thank you for wiping my nose when it dripped—"

"Okay I don't need anymore details. You're welcome." Dinah quickly interrupted the smaller girl. She has seen and done it. No need to remind it to her again.

Camila broke out into a grin and hugged the girl. "I'm kidding Dinah. I really am thankful to have a friend like you. You are the most kind, caring, loving,—"

Dinah wrapped her arms around the girl and squished her into a tight hug. "Shut it Chanch. I already know the drill." She rubbed the girl's back and patted.

"I won't thank you anymore then." Camila teased. Dinah feigned hurt and put her hand over her chest. Camila giggled and hugged the girl sincerely.

"But really.. Thank you." she said as sincerely as she could. Dinah gave her a smile.

"No problem Chanch. Any time."

"Now.. get your ass up and we'll go get some food!" She helped Camila up from the couch.

Just as Dinah left the room, Camila heard her phone ring from the coffee table. It was a certain ringtone she reserved for only one person. She immediately knew who it was.

She hesitated for a bit. Maybe Lauren wanted to make amends and correct her wrongs or make her feel bad. She doubts Lauren wants to do that to her because the girl has always been loving. But she immediately remembered what Dinah told her.

Just give her some space.

That's what she probably needs the most right now.

She took a deep breath and pressed the red end call button. She sighed and put her phone on airplane mode. If she's gonna spend the day refreshing herself from Lauren, then she's gonna have to do it without feeling even the tiniest of her presence.

And that starts with her phone. The girl might call, so might as well go full on and disconnect herself from the digital world.

After a cool bath and a fresh change of clothes, she went over to the living room where she found Dinah rummaging through her purse. The girl was murmuring profanities as she continued to dig through her purse.

"What are you looking for?" Camila asked. The taller girl didn't bother to look at her as she mumbled "wallet". Camila giggled as she found the lost and now apparently found wallet just chilling on the coffee table. Literally in front of Dinah.

"D.. it's on the table."

Dinah perked her head up and looked over her purse and sure enough, there sits her wallet. She rolled her eyes and cursed herself.

"God dammit. I've been on that purse for about five minutes and it was just in front of me?!" she said in disbelief, more to herself. She shook her head and face palmed herself.

"I definitely need to stop having se-" She immediately stopped what she was about to say when she realized that she wasn't alone. She turned to Camila who was looking at her with a shocked expression; her mouth agape and the corner of her lips perking up a bit in amusement.

"se---seaweeds for dinner! Yeah that's it." the Polynesian girl said to cover up her tracks as neatly as possible. But she was already caught red handed.

"Seaweeds huh? I bet they're tasty, don't you think?" Camila asked in amusement, her brows lifted up in a playful gesture.

"Ehh uh.. Y-you know.. Mani loves 'em seaweeds and.. uh.. k-ketchup?" Dinah said, not really sure of what she actually just said. Camila held in her laugh, her face growing red.

"Suuuuure.. Seaweeds and ketchup.." the smaller girl dragged out. Dinah's cheeks were flushed and Camila gave herself an imaginary high five for successfully drifting Dinah out of her game.

She laughed as she grabbed her wallet and keys. "Come on Mrs. Seaweed. We still have a date to go to!" she hooked her arms with Dinah's.

"Let go nerd. No one wants to date you." The Polynesian girl playfully teased and pushed her away. Camila smiled and just hooked on to Dinah tighter. She faced the girl with a playful pout.

"Bwut youw woooooooooove mwe.."

Dinah rolled her eyes at how childish Camila can get. Yep, this is Camila.

"Fine. Let's go." She said as she opened the door. "But you're paying for food."

Camila looked at her with a shocked expression. "But your effort in finding your wallet will go to waste. Don't do that to yourself!" she exaggerated.

"What was the reason you looked for your wallet?" She asked.

"Because it was missing. Duh.." Dinah replied as if it was obvious as ever.

"Would you look for it without any particular reason?"

"No." Dinah hesitantly replied.

"Then what was the reason then? What's its purpose?"

Dinah sighed. "I searched for my wallet because my money is in it." Camila looked at her expectantly. She sighed and rolled her eyes. "I was gonna pay for everything."

Camila's eyes gleamed and she unhooked herself from Dinah as she did a victory dance. Dinah couldn't suppress her laughter as she watched the girl do quite possibly the goofiest dance she has ever seen.

"Oh my god.. You.. You s-still... Can't dance!" Dinah said within bursts of laughter. It just got worse when she saw Camila trip on her own feet and land on the wooden patio. The goofy girl winced in pain as her gluteus maximus came in contact with the floor. She was painfully rubbing her backside while Dinah was hunched over, clutching her stomach in laughter.

"D-did... Did you just.. fall?!" Dinah exclaimed as she laughed at her best friend's discomfort and pain, mostly because of her hilarious facial expression. Camila pouted and stood up, wiping the dust off her bum. Dinah kept laughing whereas Camila sent her a sharp glare. She was about to say something when Camila raised her hand, gesturing her to shut it.

"Dont. I've had enough." Camila sternly said. Dinah eventually calmed down and wiped the tears forming from her eyes.

"Ohh wow.. That was entertaining as fuck." she chuckled a bit, then shut the door behind her. She turned to face a smiling Camila, but the girl immediately replaced her smile with a frown. She internally chuckled.

"Let's go? We still have a food court to devour."

Camila smiled, a genuine smile. Quiet possibly the most genuine smile she has ever had the whole day. She hooked arms with her best friend as they made their way to her car.
