Chapter 24

11:28, 26 September 2020

I stood on my toes to try and attach the clips to the banner, but I felt like a T-Rex trying to reach anything with my little stubby arms.

I grunted as I concentrated very hard on trying to complete this simple task when I felt the banner slip from my hands and my feet landing flat on the floor.

Seokjin cheekily winked at me as he easily hung up the banner with his enormous height.

I pouted as his gentle face smiled down on me from above, his grin mockingly teasing me that I couldn't reach the clips.

"I had it covered," I huffed.

He snaked his arms around my waist, pulling me close to him.

He let out a low hum, "Mm, didn't look like it baby. It looked like my baby mama was struggling and I can't let that happen now can I?"

I frowned, "But I've barely done anything."

He booped my nose, "You my queen have been carrying a human inside of you for seven and a half months and will continue to do so for a little bit longer. I think papa can handle some party decorations."

I smiled up at him, biting my lip as I felt the obvious atmosphere of what would happen next.

He cutely giggled before lowering his lips onto mine. I inhaled sharply, pushing back gently against the force of his weight, our bodies beginning to perfectly align against each other as we did so.

My hands comfortably rested of his chest while his hands got lost in my hair.

I could feel the utter joy emanating from the both of us and the pure love that we felt for one another was so obviously evident.

He smiled into the kiss making it all the more blissful as a shiver ran down my spine.

"Can't believe the universe made me wait this long for you..." he hummed into the kiss.

Feeling a little daring I tilted my head so that his lips would 'accidentally' land on my neck.

"You know...I'm kind of in the mood to see how long you had to wait for me," I smirked.

He cocked an eyebrow, "Oh? What's this? Is someone feeling a bit bold today? Perhaps I should get down to business."

Our lips locked again in a heated fervor. I felt my hormones kick up into overdrive as Seokjin hastily began to move himself downward.

"We've got T-minus two hours till the shower. I think I can work with that," he said, before finishing the blissful mania he started.

Time Skip

I spun around in the mirror, teasingly shooting finger guns at myself in the mirror while Seokjin amusedly watched from behind me.

He wrapped his arms around my waist, placing his chin on the top of my head.

He tenderly rubbed my belly, his face looking pleasantly content.

"You're so stunning," he mumbled into my ear.

I grinned, "Oh yeah? But I bet not as stunning as you?"

He smirked, "It came out of your lips not mine baby."

"Well it's a good thing I spoke the truth," I turned and looked up at him with a bright smile.

He returned the loving gaze, "No you."

I pouted, "No you."

"No you."

"No you."

"No you."

"No y—" I was cut off by the sound of the doorbell.

His eyes playfully shimmered, "Looks like even destiny knows I'm the winner."

We linked arms as we walked to the door, our excitement evident in the illustrious party decorations that we had spent the whole day setting up.

After much argument, we finally agreed on throwing a baby shower! I was reluctant at first, but since Seokjin and I got closer, we agreed to compromise. We could have the party, but it was limited to only the other gems, and my family Seokjin's brother and wife were going to come but they had some overseas business.

My heart was hammering in my chest and I wasn't even sure why. I think I was just happy. I genuinely felt there was a reason to smile.

The both of us bowed to Driver Son who had told us that our 'esteemed' guests had arrived. Basically meaning the rich kids had arrived.

The two of us stepped out onto the marble pathway and leisurely strolled down to the front gate while the party we so meticulously planned awaited for the fun to start, right behind us.

We had to wait a little before the main gate in case any paparazzi wanted to sneak a picture as to what this mysterious event that gathered all the gems was.

One by one the six very well-dressed men entered the gate with a very intimidating aura about them. It looked like they were here on business, and I'd be crazy if I didn't admit that I was mildly terrified.

I bowed quickly, "CEOs..."

There was a momentary, deafening, silence before someone let out a bewildered groan.

"Gosh noona, I thought we already sorted this out," Jungkook whined.

"Yeah, we're at your baby shower, not here to interrogate you silly," Jimin said, linking his arm with mine.

I chuckled, ruffling the young CEO's hair.

"My mistake. Force of habit. I'm glad you all could come," I hummed.

I looked up and saw behind Hoseok was none other that his sister Dawon?!

"No way—" I murmured in disbelief.

"Hey girly! Hoseokie told me you were having your baby shower and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity. And can I just say, you look h o t hot in that dress."

I practically ripped myself away from Jungkook to latch onto her.

In the short amount of time we had known each other, it was easy to say we had formed a mutual friendship.

I noticed Seokjin and Yoongi had wandered off somewhere together but I didn't want everyone to wait in the cold night air so I led everyone into the house.

The second everyone was inside, I could visibly notice the calmer atmosphere around the boys.

They loosened their ties and began to act like themselves. Just picture crazy and then you'll get an idea of how they were.

Some were breaking into dances while others passionately begged for some alcohol.

It took Dawon using her elder card to calm everyone down from how excited they were.

Jimin hooked his arm into mine, shooting me a cheeky smile.

"Noona~" he mused.

"Yes Jimin?" I chuckled.

"Where's the food? I'm starving. I literally didn't eat today because I knew hyung was gonna cook a feast," Jimin cutely pouted.

I chuckled, "Gosh Jimin you guys just got here..."

He pouted, "Please~ One tiny snack? I'll take a bag of chips."

I sighed, relenting to the pouty face of the usually stoic CEO.

After getting him some food I realized how popular of a person I was. Everyone was pulling me around left right and center to hang out with me, helping me dive into the party spirit.

I was so distracted that I didn't even notice Seokjin enter with a not-so-little gift.

"So I have an honest question..." Hoseok piped up.

Everyone looked at him curiously.

"I came under the impression that there would be some booze. Like non-fancy. It's been a minute since I had soju and I was told there'd be an array," he said, the others nodding in agreement.

I snickered, "Don't worry. It's coming."

I shot Seokjin a cheeky grin to which he returned in kind.

A loud knock at the door grabbed everyone's attention.

I let out a shrill squeal as excitement bubbled inside of me.

I ran as fast as my pregnant little body could carry me to the door and opened it excitedly for our next guests.

"Guess who brought the booze?!"

"AHH EUNBI WELCOME BACK!" I screamed, enveloping my baby sister in a massive hug.

She laughed, instantly wrapping her arms around me in a tight sisterly hug.

"HOW WAS IT?!" I exclaimed.

She looked coyly at Chanhyuk before returning a shy smile.

"It was an experience..."

My eyes widened, "You have to tell me everything!"

She grinned, "I will, I will. But first...we've got a baby shower to enjoy. And also I was told that some rich kids wanted some not-so-fancy alcohol."

She looked past me to see all the CEOs plus Dawon who were staring very amusedly at her.

But she seemed totally unfazed. She looked at them with her radiant sparkling grin and waved the alcohol bottles a bit so that they clanked with each other.

"I'm a bit surprised with your friend noona. This is the first time someone has blatantly ignored our presence," Jungkook spoke up.

Eunbi scoffed, clearly sizing up the younger male.

"Look kiddo, my sister is dating the most intimidating one out of all of you. I've got no fear left in me," she grinned, grabbing Chanhyuk's hand and pushing past the stunned boys.

Eunbi gave a small wave to Seokjin before she literally almost dropped all the alcohol on the floor.

She gasped, "NO WAY. IS THAT JUNG DAWON?!"

Eunbi shoved the alcohol bottles into Chanhyuk's chest before running to Dawon and literally bowing down to her feet.

As Eunbi was in the fashion design business, she worshipped Dawon. So this was probably a dream come true for her.

Hoseok scoffed, "So she bows down to my sister but we're just there huh?"

I giggled, "Get used to it Jung. Women are inspired by women. Plus, you guys aren't that intimidating~"

I quickly hid behind Seokjin while cheekily sticking my tongue out at all the amused and slightly offended CEOs.

And with that, the party was off without a hitch.

Everyone did their own thing and mingled as they pleased. The boys were especially interested in my sister's wild personality which of course made Chanhyuk stick a little closer to her, but she made it obvious that they were married and had just come back from a rather pleasureful honeymoon.

I introduced Dawon and Eunbi and basically third wheeled for the entire girl talk as they talked business and fashion together.

As time went on, I increasingly noticed that two guests were missing from the festivities.

I pulled Eunbi and Seokjin aside worriedly.

"Eunbi...where's mom and dad?" I asked.

I was really excited for my parents to come out and celebrate with me like this but the night was wasting away and they weren't here yet.

Eunbi looked especially nervous and fiddled with her fingers.

Sensing something was wrong I slipped my hand into Seokjin's for comfort, bracing myself for some obviously not-so-good news.

"Mom was getting ready to come. She was, but then dad just kind of...had an episode I guess? She's not really sure what it was but he was looking more pale than usual and his hands were trembling a lot. She said she couldn't leave him or bring him to that environment where his state might get worse. So she's really sorry she couldn't come and she told me to tell you that she'll give you your gift when she sees you next," Eunbi explained.

I felt my heart clench and my chest tighten. The one thing I loved about my life was the amazing family dynamic I had with my loved ones, and it felt like it was slipping away.

I would never be selfish and make my mom come with my dad if it would hurt him. But this was my baby shower. I dreamed of having my mom, dad, and sister right beside me the day I got to celebrate the little human inside of me.

Seokjin pulled me close, forcing my face into his chest and he stroked my hair gently.

"Unnie, don't let that get you down. Mom called the hospice people to come and stay with her tonight so that they can make sure dad is okay. They'd want you to enjoy the night and celebrate the baby! Do it in spirit of them," Eunbi encouraged softly.

Seokjin kissed the top of my head, "I promised you that he'd be alright didn't I? I told you he'd get to see our little girl and hold her. Trust me Yubin. If you spend every happy moment worrying about the sad, you'll miss the good parts of life. Don't waste those good parts trying to prevent the sad parts."

I gave them both a small smile, putting on a brave face and taking their words to heart.

If my mom was there, she'd probably be scolding me about how I wasn't enjoying my own party like some sort of dramatic brat.

Despite the uncertainties of life ahead, I had a baby to celebrate.

And so I went back with them to the others and engaged in the party games and all the gifts that they brought for us and our daughter.

Time Skip

The party was raging into the later hours and I was beginning to feel a bit sleepy.

I was a bit worried because for the last half an hour, Seokjin and Yoongi had been missing in action. I was unsure what they could've possibly been up to but it was all secretive so I assumed it was something about business that they just HAD to bring up at a baby shower.

Taehyung, Namjoon, and I were engaged in a long conversation about something random before a deafening screech rang throughout the mansion.

We all turned towards the source which was at the top of the stairs where Seokjin stood with a slightly petrified expression.

In his hands was a microphone which he shakily held as Yoongi muttered some things to him.

I eyed the setup curiously because from what I could remember, Seokjin didn't own a mic or a mic stand. What he was planning was beyond me.

"Yubin-ah~" his deep voice rung throughout the whole house.

I could feel everyone's gaze turn to me, but my eyes were locked onto his.

His intense stare burned through my head but I couldn't tear my eyes away. I didn't want to look away. I wanted to get lost in the abyss of his eyes. Of his love. I wanted to embrace this tingly feeling every time my named rolled off of his tongue like sweet honey.

"You're my every season. You remind me of how nature stands tall in the face of adversity. I admire you everyday for being able to carry another life in you, and I feel today is more of a celebration of you and the hardships that come with being a woman trying to produce another life. I'm grateful for you, and I practiced long and hard to make sure you knew."

A familiar melody of our generation began playing in the background as Seokjin tentatively raised the microphone to his perfectly parted lips.

And so he began singing.

His voice instantly grabbed hold of me and refused to let go. I was captivated by the honey-like sweetness of sound that so perfectly masked the power vocals he had locked away.

He never broke eye contact with me as he sang the song, slowly descending down the stairs with each note.

I noticed how with each word he relaxed more into the song until the chorus when he let it rip and show the world yet another one of his many charms and talents.

This man could sing.

So much so that my heart was swaying and swooning at the mere sound of his voice. That coupled with the romantic and delicate lyrics led for a very emotional feeling Yubin.

I was in awe of his performance, finding myself being drawn to him like a magnet. I wanted to be in his presence as he sang. I wanted to feel the emotions right in front of me.

I wanted him to look me straight in the eyes and convey that this was solely about me. About us.

And that's exactly what he did.

Encircling my waist with his free hand, he pulled me as close as my baby bump allowed it just before the second chorus.

And then he let it rip, singing his heart out right to me.

I wasn't afraid to let my tears fall as I watched the beautiful man in front of me deliver a show stopping performance that filled me up with a cozy warmth.

"I love you Binnie. And I can't wait to raise this little girl with you," he said once he finished the song.

I burst into tears, smacking his chest playfully.

"I hate you! You know I didn't put on waterproof makeup you jerk!" I whined, burying my face into his chest while the other guests laughed.

He chuckled, the vibrations of his chest hitting against mine.

"I mean it Yubin. I really really do. And I'm sorry I couldn't show you how special you were in the beginning. But I vow everyday to make sure you and our little Suyeon are reminded of it daily. That you two are the most important people in my life who have changed me for the better and opened my heart."

Without caring who saw or whistled or hollered, I crashed my lips onto Seokjin as warm happy tears slid down my face.

"Such a crybaby..." he teased in between kisses while gently wiping the tears away.

Our lips found their rhythm much like the rest of our life harmoniously loving the other with as much passion as possible.

Needless to say, it was a perfect night.

A memory that will be forever cherished.

And a moment that will forever be etched in the intricate weavings of my heart.
