Chapter 10: Ace It No Matter What!
22:57, 28 September 2018* * *
One week has passed since the team went back from training camp and Hinata and Kageyama was already studying hard. They've got help from the new manager and friend Yachi, and when she was busy with her own studies Kageyama and Hinata would try going to someone else or sit under a tree and study. Though Hinata thought it was a little boring doing the same thing over and over again after school hours, so he decided to change it up a little.
"Kageyamaaaaa!" Hinata yelled from behind trying to catch up. He took a few breaths before continuing.
"Hey do you want to study together today?" Like the answer wasn't already clear enough. They had to ace their tests this month no matter what. Volleyball is everything for both of them and if they failed thet didn't get to play at all.
"Dumbass, of course we're going to study."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah but where?" Hinata giggled.
"At my place?" The words just slid out of Kageyama's mouth, he didn't mean to say that. Hinata looked at him surprised, he giggled again as the answer to his question. Kageyama felt really embarrassed, now he had to drag that little ginger all the way to his house. He wasn't prepared for this at all.
They walked home together to Kageyama's house. Hinata looked out the windows on the train like a little kid admiring the pretty view. As usual it was sunset and the view opened up to a free landscape with grass and hills. The sun touched the ground gently with a yellow orange-ish kind of color. When the sun was down the sky was dark blue and the stars were out. Though it was pretty dark outside but when they started to come closer to the city the world lit up again with pretty lights from all the shops and houses.

Kageyama opened the door and the began to put away their outerwear in the hall. Hinata looked around nervously to see if someone was home if he had to introduce himself.
"Hey Kageyama, where are your parents?"
"They're not home today."
"Oh okay..." Even though Hinata was revealed no one was home he still felt a little dissapointed.
The two boys sat at the dinner table when studying. Math is what they studied today, that was a subject Kageyama wasn't that bad at so it was okay for them to study on their own without needing a tutor. After a while they started bickering about what answer was right and in the end Kageyama was the one that won the argument. Hinata just pouted in defeat.
"And to finish the equation, you need to count 9 + 10 *hic* —" Kageyama covered his mouth.
"Pfft What a lame hiccup!!" Hinata laughed almost falling off his chair.
"Shut up idiot! *hic* " He blushed.
"Sorry, sorry! The hiccup is cute though but doesn't fit with your don't look at me or you're dead aura." He imitated the tall boy's usual look for fun. Kageyama then shoved Hinata's hoodie over his laughing face and walked off to the bathroom to cool down and waited for the hiccups to go away. When he came back he saw Hinata look at his family photos on the wall, including from when he was a kid and more.
"Oi."
"Oh Kageyama! Sorry I was just bored waiting for you and then I saw these on the wall and you know, I was bored." He sighed, he looked at the pictures with his big golden brown eyes admiring it like it was an art piece.
"Hah, you looked so much happier when you were younger, what happened?" He giggled.
"Oh, nothing just... school happened." Kageyama thought that he didn't want to talk about his Aoba Johsai days, especially not with this guy. Hinata would just look down at him in dissapoint if he did.
"School is pretty boring, and is this your parents?" He looked at a smaller picture with a dad, a mom, and a mini-Kageyama.
"Yeah, they're barely around anymore because of their stupid jobs."
"Oh... " Hinata stopped in his stance, that must be pretty lonely... The two of them stood there in silence for what felt like forever when Hinata had enough of the sound of nothing.
"Man! It's already dark outside, I think I'll be going home now." He tried to break the awkward tension that was formed.
"Do you even know how to get back dumbass?"
"Don't worry, I'll just remember how I got here and then play it backwards!" He smiled a bright smile that made Kageyama blush a little.
Hinata put on his clothes ready for the trip home. He had a lot of clothes on, Kageyama would assume it was because the cold wasn't his thing. As Kageyama closed the door he couldn't help himself to look out the window to see if the small spiker didn't get kidnapped or something. And when Hinata was out of sight he sighed in relief and continued with his evening.
That was a close one.
