Chapter 65
20:02, 20 July 2022Episode 21, Sozin's Comet: Part 4: Avatar Aang
Zuko laying there shattered my heart into pieces. Then he moved slighlty and let out a groan.
I gasped and wiped my eyes and took a breath before quickly getting up and running up to Zuko. I needed to heal him before it was to late.
However, I didn't get far as Azula shot lightning my way, laughing like a maniac.
I jumped out of the way before she could hit me. She smirked and walked up to me as she conjured more lightning. "I'd rather our family physician look after little Zuzu, if you don't mind." Then without any warning she attacked me again. I ran under the roof, hiding behind a pillar. This girl lost her mind.
I peeked out from behind it and saw her smiling at Zuko. "You don't look so good Zuzu," she mocked and I bit my lip.
Turning away, I closed my eyes. I needed to think of something quickly.
Azula let out another scream before the pillar behind me exploded. I ran along the way and stopped at another pillar when I saw a foutain. I used all of the water and send it her way. But I noticed too late that she wasn't there anymore.
Knitting my eyebrows, I looked around but she wasn't anywhere. That's when I heard footsteps on the roof. Azula jumped off the roof behind me and send a burst of fire my way.
Gasping, I used water to counter her attack. Then I manipulated some more water beneath me and used the wave to get away from her quickly.
She shot fire out of her feet and flew after me while sending fire punches my way. I looked over my shoulder and at that moment fire hit me. Letting out a grunt, the water splashed on the ground and I fell on the ground.
I panted with wide eyes. She was going to kill me if I didn't do anything. My grip on the floor tightened and that's when I noticed that the floor was a metal grind with water flowing beneath it. Looking up, I saw a chain hanging loosely on the pillar opposite of me and smiled. Thank the spirits.
I got up quickly and snatched the chain. Azula came up to me with a scowl on her face. "There you are, filthy peasant," she spat and glared at me.
I concentrated on her blood and before she could hit me with lightning or fire I made her stop in her tracks. Stretching out my hand I slowly moved it to myself and made her walk onto the grind. "What are you doing to me?!" Azula screamed and tried to move but I didn't let her.
"I am ending this," I said and bend my fingers down. She got on her knees and hysterically shouted for me to stop. Keeping her under my control, I walked up behind her and tied up her hands behind her back onto the grind. Then I let her blood go and she immediately tried to wiggle free.
I ignored her and ran up to Zuko as I took out the spirit water from the North Pole. Kneeling beside, him I opened the vial to get the water around my hands. Then I put my hands over the wound on his chest.
Tears were rolling down my cheeks as the water started glowing and the wound consumed all of it. "Open your eyes you idiot." A sob left my lips when he didn't show any reaction. "Don't you dare leaving me," I cried while putting my forehead on his chest holding him tight.
He still didn't move and I lifted up my head. Putting a hand on his cheek, I stroke the hair out of his face and sniffed before whispering, "I love you." My bottom lip trembled and I cried again, shutting my eyes tightly.
I felt a hand on mine and opened my eyes. Zuko pulled my hand away from his cheek and intertwined our fingers with a small smile on his lips. "I love you too," he whispered and his voice cracked.
I let out a breath and smiled before helping him stand up. He cupped my cheeks and eyed my face. I looked into his eyes and gave him a small smile. He leaned in and my eyes fluttered close before our lips met. After the sweet kiss he leaned his forehead on mine. "Thank you," he whispered and didn't break eye contact.
"I should be thanking you," I said and warmth rose to my cheeks.
Azula began to scream snapping us out of our moment. With every scream fire came out of her mouth. Her screams turned into cries and soon she was sobbing.
The sight broke my heart so I quickly looked away. I felt bad for her. But she needed to be stopped as Fire Lord Ozai's and her actions were wrong. There was no other option.-----It was the day of Zuko's coronation and I couldn't be happier and prouder of him. Everyhing was over. Aang defeated Ozai by taking his bending away and Azula was sent to an asylum. Finally the balance of the world was restored.
I went to Zuko's quarters to see him before his coronation. I stopped in the door frame and watched him struggling to put on his wear with a small smile.
"Let me help you," I said and walked up to him. He quickly turned around with wide eyes but relaxed when he saw me.
I smiled up at him when I finished. "I'm so proud of you," I whispered. He smiled and put his hands on my waist, pulling me closer before giving me a kiss. I smiled brightly and hugged him carefully as his wound still hurt.
"Uhm," Aang cleared his throat with a slight blush on his face trying to avoid looking at us, "Am I interrupting something?"
Zuko and I parted the hug and I shook my head. "I'll see you guys later," I told them and shot them a small smile before leaving them alone.
Making my way out of the palace and into the crowd, I looked for my dad. Everyone was gathered in front of the Palace to see the coronation of the new Fire Lord. I saw a lot of familiar faces and send smiles their ways but I wanted to find dad first.
That's when I heard my brother calling out dad and I snapped my head to my right where the voice came from. Then I spotted dad and with a smile I ran up to him just like my siblings. We all met in front of dad and he pulled us into a hug immediately.
"I heard what you three did," he said and looked at us with a smile. "I am the proudest father in the world. And your mother would be proud too."
Tears welled up in my eyes and I tightly hugged dad again. He chuckled and patted my head. I pulled away when I heard Sokka say, "There's my favourite warriors."
Suki and the rest of her warriors were standing in front of us. They had their traditional outfit and make-up on.
"I have to admit, I kinda missed the face paint," Sokka said, "So how does it feel to be back in uniform again?"
Ty Lee walked up behind Suki and shot us a close-eyed smile. "I feels great," she almost sqealed out.
My eyes widened and I froze. What is she doing among them?
Sokka gasped and walked up to Suki, pulling her behind him. "Careful Suki, Ty Lee is pretending to be a kyoshi warrior again."
Suki chuckled and put a hand on my brother's shoulder, "It's okay, she's one of us now."
My eyebrows shot up while Sokka's jaw dropped looking between the two girls.
Ty Lee nodded and smiled brightly. I swear this girl is always happy. "Yeah, the girls and I really I bonded in prison. And after a few chi-blocking lessons, they said I could join their group." She pulled two girls into a side hug, "We're gona be best friends forever." She grinned and the two girls grinned as well.
I slightly smiled at them and shook my head before I tensed. Did she say she was in prison? Then Mai had to be there as well. My stomach dropped and I looked at Ty Lee. That's why I never got an answer from Mai. "Hey Ty Lee, is Mai here too?"
Ty Lee looked at me and nodded, "Yeah, she has to be here somewhere."
I thanked her and went to look for her. After pushing through the crowd, I saw a familiar black head. "Mai!"
She turned around and looked at me. With a smile and a wave I approached her. When she was in arm's reach, I pulled her into a hug. "Thank the spirits you're okay," I said and let the tense girl go.
"Are you worried about me now," she asked in an unbothered tone but I could tell she was embarrassed by the tiny blush dusting her cheeks.
"Of course I am," I said and linked our arms before we both looked at the etrance of the palace which was high up with a lot of stairs leading to it. "You are family after all."
She glanced at me and put her lips in a thin line. "I guess we are."
"And I haven't even thanked you yet," I slighlty smiled and glanced her. "For everything," I softly said.
Before she could react, the sound of a gong reaches our ears and everyone went silent, watching Zuko appear at the top of the stair case.
The crowd errupted in cheers and applause and a big smile stretched on my lips.
Zuko raised his hand to silence all the people. "Please," he said and pointed behind him, "The real hero is the Avatar."
Aang walked up next to Zuko. We cheered louder and he eyed the crowd with a small smile on his face.
"Today," Zuko said, "This war is finally over. I promised my uncle that I would restore the honour of the Fire Nation, and I will. The road ahead of us is challenging. A hundred years of fighing has left the world scarred and divided. But with the Avatar's help, we can get it back on the right path and begin a new era of love and peace." He kneeled on the ground.
"All Hail Fire Lord Zuko!" I smiled when the royal hair clip was placed on Zuko's head and clapped as the crowd errupted in aplause.-----Iroh played a calm melody on his horn while Zuko served the tea.
"Zuko stop moving!" Sokka exclaimed. "I'm trying to capture the moment." I giggled as Zuko handed me my cup. "I wanted to do a painting so we'll always remember the good times."
With a smile I walked over to Sokka who was sitting at the other end of the tea shop. "Oh let me see." My face fell when I saw myself in the paintig. Sokka had drawn a line through me; one side of me looked happy and fire was surrounding it and the other one looked scary and was surrounded by water. "Why does it look like I am two faced and mean?!"
"You get scary when you waterbend!" Sokka defended himself, "But when you firebend it's so normal."
I sighed and Katara's face fell when she stopped beside me. "Why did you give me Momo's ears?!"
I snickered and Sokka let out an offended noise. "Those are your hair loopies!" He pointed at Katara's hair.
The others quickly joined us to look at the painting as well. Zuko raised an eyebrow and leaned on the table. "At least you don't look like a porcupine. My hair is not that spikey!"
"I look like a man," Mai said and eyed the picture.
"And why did you paint me firebnding?" Suki asked.
Sokka shrugged, looking at his girlfriend, "I thought it looked more exciting that way." Momo jumped on the table and made some noise. Sokka crossed his arms and glared at him, "Oh you think you can do a better job, Momo?"
"Hey, my belly is not that big anymore. I've really trimmed down," uncle Iroh pointed out.
Toph shrugged and smiled. "Well, I think you all look perfect." We all laughed at her comment.
Letting out a content sigh, I grabbed Zuko's hand softly. He shot me a small smile and I returned it before looking at the others, the smile never leaving my face.
We made it.
And after all we've been through, we got our well-deserved happy ending.
