Chapter 35
00:48, 26 March 2020She looked over at Leslie. Leslie was dressed in a patrolman's uniform, making Kim a bit confused.
"Where's the medic uniform?"
"I turned it in shortly after you ended up here. Saving lives is what I'm best at, I decided to go into the academy."
"Who replaced you?"
"Some girl named Jessica Chilton. She's the paramedic in charge."
"How's Sylvie handling that?"
"Pretty sure she hates her." They both laughed.
"How long have you been an officer?"
"About two years now."
"What district?"
"Twenty first."
"That is amazing. I'm happy for you."
"Thanks." Leslie smiled.
"I got your old partner."
"Roman is your partner?"
"Yup."
"Ha. Good luck with that one."
"Although most of the time I feel more like a babysitter."
"I felt that way sometimes too."
"Although we did get this huge crack bust a year or so back. Biggest stockpile in Chicago history. Found by us."
"That's pretty impressive."
"Platt still can't believe it."
"Of course she doesn't." They laughed again.
"Well to catch you up to speed on everyone, Nadia graduated college last year, Justin's coming back from Iraq in two weeks, Eva graduates high school in a few days, Diego has a girlfriend, Gabby is now Gabriela Casey, and..." Leslie stopped when she realized what she was about to say.
"Spill it, Shay."
She grew a nervous look on her face. "Nope."
"Come on."
"NOPE."
"You better tell me."
"I never said a thing."
"Yes you did."
"No I didn't."
"Yeah you did. What is it?"
"I'll tell you later. I gotta go." She gave her a hug before dashing into the hallway and almost walked right into Sean.
"So did you tell her?"
"No, not yet. Too many witnesses."
"She is your best friend and she'll have to find out somehow."
"I know that, stupid. I don't want to shock her that much, especially since she just woke up from a five year coma. I want to give it a little more time."
"I'm just saying she needs to know sooner or later, before she figures it out herself."
"I'm going to tell her, I just don't know how yet."
"How do you think she'll take it?"
"I hope she'll be happy. With that girl, you never know."
A few days later, Kim showed up to Leslie's apartment with an unimpressed look on her face.
"Oh hey..." Leslie said nervously as she answered the door.
"I'm not waiting a second longer."
"Um..."
"You can trust that I won't tell another living soul."
"You're going to have to sit down for this one."
"Sitting." Kim said, sitting on the couch.

Jay, Adam and Antonio were at the park with Hannah, MacKenzie, Brayden and Mikayla.
"Gabby had a kid with Matt?"
"Yep."
"Let's just hope she's smarter than her father. Her father is, well...the short end of the stick." Antonio said.
The three of them laughed.
"Tell us something we don't know." Jay said, putting sunglasses on.
"Well..." Adam began.
"He didn't mean THAT." Antonio shut him up.
"Hey, he said tell him something he doesn't know."
"Yeah but that doesn't mean bring the thing with Shay up."
"If it's what I think it is, I already know."
"Who doesn't know what it is by now?"
"My fiancée doesn't. I'm gonna let Shay tell her herself."
Hannah came running over with something cupped in her hands. She was giggling as she walked over to Adam.
"Don't even think about it."
"Grr." She dropped the daddy long leg on the ground and let it go.
"Don't even try it. Your mother used to do the same thing to me when we were younger."
"Well it would've been." She shrugged. "At least I would think that."
"Come here you." He set her on his lap.
"Daddy?"
"Yes?"
"I have something very important that I need to tell you."
"What would that be?"
"I love you."
She hugged him and he smiled. "I love you too, princess."
Mikayla came up behind Jay, not looking happy.
"Can I help you?" He asked, turning around taking his sunglasses off.
"Yeah dad, you can. The park is for babies. Can't we go like, shopping or something?"
"What would a ten year old need to shop for?"
"Clothes, shoes, chocolate, ice cream, junk food, clothes, shoes..."
"She really is a mini Erin." Antonio tried not to laugh.
"Don't remind me."
Brayden walked over to the car. "Daddy, let's do what Mikayla says and go shopping! The park is boring!"
"Remind me to kill you later." Adam said to Jay.
Jay laughed at him.
Antonio took Brayden into GameStop, while Adam and Jay took the girls clothes shopping. They were piling shirt upon shirt, scarf upon scarf and everything else they liked on their arms.
"Mikayla Annabelle Halstead, what on earth do you think you're doing?"
"It's called clothes shopping, dad." She said, before closing the dressing room door.
"Erin and Kim are so gonna pay for this."
"Actually...no. We are." Adam said, holding up their credit cards.
"Don't remind me."
After the shopping trip, they went to grab something to eat. This time, Chinese food was voted for.
"Hey Adam, if you listen closely, you can hear our wallets crying." Jay said.
"The joy of having daughters, am I right or what?" Adam said, picking up the menu.
"We're sitting right here, you know." Mikayla crossed her arms.
"What do you feel like having?" Jay handed her a menu.
"The honey chicken on rice sounds good." She pointed to that on the menu. Hannah said she wanted the same thing. After the waitress walked away, the kids snuck under the table.
"MacKenzie, get out from under the table. You better not be eating that candy I bought you." Antonio looked under the table.
"No I'm not, uncle Antonio. I'm just talking."
"Get out from under there."
"Only if you buy me fried Oreos later."
"I'll let your parents deal with that part."
"Then I'm staying under here."
"Okay fine. You win."
"Kenzie one, uncle zero." She gave a teasing smile as she got back into her seat.
