4. Finally Friends

(Y/n) sat at her desk staring intensely at her phone as she waited for a text from her friend Monoma. Mina, seeing the girl fixated on her phone, decided to tease her.

"Who's the stud you're waiting on a text from?" She leaned on the desk next to (Y/n)'s and crossed her arms with a smile.

"Stud? I'm waiting for Monoma to text me back. He was gonna recommend me a new show to watch!" The girl spoke the last statement with stars in her eyes.

"The way you're waiting is pretty intense though. It's almost like you can't go on without him." Mina replied with a sly smile.

"What are you getting at Mina?" The girl looked up from her phone, not quite understanding what her friend was trying to say.

"I'm just wondering...do you have a crush on him?" Mina grabbed the girl's shoulders and stared into her eyes hoping to find any hint of romantic feelings.

"No? We just became friends I can't just fall for a guy I barely know." The girl groaned and gently pushed Mina back.

"I'm just saying it looks like you're interested in him." The pinkette smirked.

"Whatever, I'm gonna go to the development studio, talk to you later." (Y/n) gathered her belongings, dumping them into her bag before standing up and walking out of the classroom.

The walk to the development studio was quiet. (Y/n) still hadn't received a text from Monoma, it wasn't that she was madly in love with him, rather the show he recommended sounded exciting and she was eager to get started. As she approached the door to the studio an explosion could be heard from the other side.

It wasn't big enough to demolish the actual room, but there was enough smoke for Hatsume to evacuate the room. (Y/n) laughed as she saw her friend bust the door open and roll out of the studio.

"Oh, (Y/n)! Did you like the improvements I made to your costume? Actually, do you wanna check out some of my new babies? Let me show you something I've been working on!" Hatsume excitedly got up and grabbed the girl by the wrist, pulling her into the smoke-filled studio. They both coughed as they walked in, swatting away the smoke around them. The smoke soon died down, and Hatsume already had (Y/n) in a new suit she designed.

"I made this suit with agility in mind! It's lightweight and doesn't get in the way much!" Hatsume ran around the studio as she happily explained her new inventions to her friend.

"It's so cool Hatsume! I bet someone like-" (Y/n) paused as she heard her phone ding. Her head immediately turned towards the noise before swiftly picking it up to check her notifications.

Monoma:Where are you?

(Y/n):I'm at the development studio with Hatsume! Also what was the show you were gonna tell me about?

Monoma:Oh, I'll tell you later when you're free

(Y/n):Okay, see you later!

The girl set her phone down with a smile and turned back to Hatsume. The pink-haired girl stared at her friend in shock.

"Who the hell was that?" She asked without blinking.

"Oh, I made a new friend the other day. His name's Neito Monoma, he's a boy from class B." (Y/n) answered nonchalantly.

"A friend? Are you sure he isn't your boyfriend? You never text other people when you're in here?! In fact your phone is usually on silent!" Hatsume's mouth was wide open as she stared at her friend in shock. For as long as she had known (Y/n), not once, did she ever use her phone in the development studio.

"He's just a friend! You're being a bit overdramatic Hatsume!" (Y/n) laughs the girl off, as she explained her friendly relationship with Monoma.

"Huh, yeah, whatever you say! Let's go back to talking about my babies." She was doubtful but decided not to go into it. Hatsume is much more interested in her gear after all.

Meanwhile, Monoma is in the lunchroom sitting, once again, in between two class A girls he despises. He had just put his phone down after messaging a certain someone.

"She's so cute!" Monoma groaned as he slammed his fist on the table causing the two girls next to him to jump.

"She barely even said anything to you and you're already acting like this? Man, you got it bad." Mina laughed as Monoma glared at her.

"Shut up, you idiot! Maybe if you actually helped me I'd already be dating her!" He groaned.

"I've been helping you this entire time! If it wasn't for me she would've never tutored you that day! Plus you got to see her room and she has your number, so shut it and be grateful!" The two were butting heads as Jirou watched from the sidelines.

"You two make a better couple than (Y/n) and Monoma." Jirou laughed as she saw the disgusted looks on both of their faces, "Look, you both even responded the same way!" She continuously banged her hand on the table as she laughed.

"Like hell we do! I wouldn't date class A scum like her if you paid me to!" He scooted away from the girl, repulsed at the thought of them together.

"You're not exactly Prince Charming, either!" Mina replied scooting farther away from him. Kendo sighed as she sat in front of the three, watching the scene unfold.

"Monoma why don't you go see her at the development studio. If she immediately replied back she's probably thinking of you." Kendo casually ate her food as she spoke, Monoma's eyes widened at her words.

"You're right!" He exclaimed as he stood up from the table.

"Slow down Monoma!" Jirou grabbed the boy from his wrist and pulled him back down. "She just told Mina she only sees you as a friend right now, if you went to see her now she'd just get sick of you!" The boy shrunk back into his seat and sighed.

"Cmon Jirou I don't think she'd get sick of him!" Kendo reasoned, giving Monoma hope.

"I would've." Mina snickered, causing the boy to glare at her again.

"You guys are confusing! I'll just wait for her to contact me." Monoma sighed as he laid his head on the table. However, as he sulked, his phone dinged, signaling a new message. He immediately raised his head up and looked at the message.

THE LOML:I just left the development studio! Wanna walk to class together?

Monoma felt his heart explode and face heat up as he stared at the message. The two girls sitting next to him noticed and looked down at his phone.

"There's your answer." Mina cheered him on. After staring at the text for a minute he finally replied and ran out of the lunchroom.

"What did the text say?" Kendo asked curiously.

"I guess the princess wanted to see her prince." Jirou laughed as they all watched Monoma rush out.
