VII ~ Suspicion

King floated around on his pillow as he watched Zeldris drink a mug of Vanya Ale. He grumbled into the pillow.

"Something wrong, King?" Meliodas asked, looking up at him.

"Hm? No. No. I'm fine," King said brushing it off. Meliodas raised a brow but kept cleaning the counter.

Meliodas looked at Zeldris' glass that was nearly empty. "Want another?" Zeldris nodded slightly so Meliodas popped open a bottle. He filled the mug up so that it was just about to spill over.

Meliodas patted his head and left the room. King eyed Zeldris warily as he floated. Zeldris shifted in his seat, continuing to focus of the ale.

"Is there something you need?" Zeldris mumbled to King, not looking at him. King frowned.

"No, but I don't trust you," King stated.

"Okay..."

"Did you do something to the Captain to make loyal to you like that?" King questioned harshly.

Zeldris laughed under his breath. Loyal to him? It had been millennials since Meliodas showed any loyalty towards him. The mere fact that Meliodas protected shocked him. He has almost forgotten what it was like to have his brother care for him. And, despite the years of hate and anger, he couldn't help but enjoy Meliodas' care once more. "I haven't done anything. I'm no goddess with brainwashing magic," Zeldris sighed. "I've no clue as to why Meliodas would protect me."

After Zeldris said that Meliodas came back in with a pouch of change. He looked between Zeldris and King before tapping Zeldris on the shoulder.

"Wanna go shopping with me?" Meliodas asked. "You look like to need to move around." Zeldris squinted at him. "What?" Meliodas said innocently.

"Won't the people get scared by my presence?" Zeldris said, not so much as a question as it was a fact.

"I have some clothes you can change into -since you're the same size as me- and we can always give you a hood," Meliodas suggested. Zeldris just shrugged and followed him upstairs.
