VI ~ Apple

A week had passed and Zeldris didn't say a single word. Meliodas kept an eye on him and came running anytime he seemed uncomfortable. Elizabeth came by every now and then to null the side effects of power sealing binds.

Meliodas yanked a book from his room and joined Zeldris outside by a tree. Zeldris glanced at him and pulled his knees to his chest.

"You look bored," Meliodas pointed out. Zeldris sighed. "Wanna read a book?" He held the book in front of his face, bouncing it slightly. Zeldris cautiously took it, opening it as he did so. He went back to ignoring Meliodas as he read.

"So...How are you feeling?" Meliodas asked, trying to break the silence.

"Why do you care?" Zeldris asked. Meliodas laughed breathlessly.

"No matter what you are still my brother," Meliodas told him. Zeldris looked at him for a couple seconds then closed the book.

"...Sure whatever," Zeldris sighed.

Meliodas reached into his pocket and out an apple (how it fit I do not know). He pressed his fingers down the middle and pulled, splitting it in half. He waved the bigger half in front of Zeldris, temptingly.

"Get that out of my face," Zeldris growled.

"You haven't eaten all day~" Meliodas pushed.

"I'm not hungry." Just as Zeldris said that his stomach growled.

Meliodas raised an eyebrow, a knowing smirk forming on his face. "Sure you are~" he teased. Zeldris' face turned red as he quickly yanked the apple out of Meliodas' hand. He let out a loud laugh at his brother.

Once Meliodas' laughter quieted they sat in silence eating the apple. Meliodas looked at the sky, quietly humming to himself. Zeldris sunk against the tree, resting his head on his shoulder and falling asleep.

After a couple more minutes Meliodas lifted Zeldris up and took him to his room. The Boar Hat has been rebuilt after Derieri destroyed it with a room for every sin. Since there was only enough for everyone Zeldris ended up sharing a room with Meliodas.

Meliodas laid Zeldris on his make-shift bed and threw a blanket over him. He stood for a moment just looking at his younger brother. He looked so peaceful. It had been so long since Meliodas had seen his brother look so content. Under his breath, he swore.

"I won't let anyone hurt you anymore..."
