CHAPTER 23

Finally, after about an hour Alec fell asleep. Magnus slowly pulled out his arm and got off the bed. He took out he laptop and started to contact few of his father’s connections. He sent a few emails and took a few calls to some of his friends to find more about what had happened to Robert and what he had been doing for all these years. 

When he finished his work it was almost 5 in the morning. He walked into the room and slowly without making any noise crept under the blanket and hugged Alec. He touched Alec’s forehead to see if his fever reduced and thank fully it had reduced. Then kissed Alec on the cheek and went to sleep.

Both Alec and Magnus woke up when they heard the doorbell. Magnus couldn’t get much sleep and it was around 7.30.

“It must be Izz” Alec said trying to get out of bed.

“Baby I’ll check…” Magnus said.

“No Mags…you should get some more sleep…I know you didn’t sleep last night…” Alec said kissing Magnus on the cheek.

Magnus nodded and closed his eyes.

Alec opened the door and it was not Izzy, it was Jace.

“Jace what are you here so early?” Alec asked confused.

Jace raised an eyebrow “You should have told me about Robert!! Why didn’t you?” he asked.

“I’m sorry Jace…I was going to but…” Alec was cut mid-sentence.

“But what Alec? Why didn’t you tell me? If I was there, I would have…” Jace said and he looked very upset.

“See…this is why I didn’t want to tell you…because you would act this way…you might go punch him in the face…” Alec said folding his arms.

Jace sighed.

“Izzy will be here soon…we should discuss about what we should do about him…” Alec said.

“Where’s Magnus?” Jace asked.

“I told him to get some sleep…he was up all night…I don’t know what he was doing…but I think he was doing something connected Robert…”

Jace nodded. 

And finally Izzy arrived and hugged both her brothers.

“We need to have some serious talk” she said sitting next to Jace.

Both Alec and Jace nodded. 

“Why do you think he came back?” Jace asked.

“I dunno maybe he broke up with that woman…” Izzy said.

“But why would he only come behind Alec?” Jace asked 

“There must be some kind of a reason for this…we need to find…” Alec couldn’t finish the sentence, Magnus walked in with his laptop.

“I think I know the reason…” he said sitting next to Alec.

“I have contacted some of my friends and I did some research last night and see what I found…” he said turning the laptop towards the 3 siblings. “Robert’s company is on the verge of bankruptcy…and if I’m right…” he looked at Alec “he’s coming behind you to…uh…” Magnus took a deep breath “because he wants to save his company”

“What??” Izzy asked confused.

“You see here…this is Valentine Morgenstern, he is the rather WAS one of the majority shareholders of Robert’s company…but for some reason he had withdrawn and gone abroad. Now the company is running many loses and losing its ownership…”

“SO why would he come behind me?” Alec asked.

“If my guess is right…” he said scratching his head “he’s coming behind you because of me…”

“Because of you?” Jace asked.

Magnus nodded.

“For your money?” Izzy asked.

“Partly yes…2 years ago, our company has had an agreement with theirs, but for some reason, dad had cancelled the agreement, and it had caused them a great loss…and then with Valentine gone…I feel like he is trying to take advantage of my relationship with Alec…”

All three of them were shocked to hear this.

“No this can’t happen…I won’t let this happen…how can he take advantage like this…no I won’t ever allow it!!!” Alec said clenching his fists.

“Alexander…calm down, I will try to find what he is up to okay…let’s just stay calm and figure this out together…okay?” Magnus said hugging Alec.

Izzy and Jace also joined the hug “We are not kids anymore…let’s figure this out…” Izzy said.

“I won’t let him break our family apart” Jace said and everyone nodded.
