CHAPTER 21

Robert raised an eyebrow.

“Who did you say you were?” he asked.

“I’m your son’s fiancé, Magnus Bane” Magnus replied.

“Look here, Magnus Bane…you have no right to ask me that” Robert said looking straight into Magnus’s eyes. “I’m Alec’s father…and I have all the right to come and see him whenever I want to”

Magnus was boiling inside but he had to control his anger because anyway this was the father of his fiancé. SO Magnus just glared at Robert.

“And don’t look at me like that…” Robert said and Magnus cut him in the middle.

“I do have the right Mr. Lightwood…” he said calmly. “I know that you are Alexander’s father but you have already left their lives long time ago…I don’t see a reason for you to come back after all these years…” he said sitting straight.

“How dare you talk to me like that…I’m Alec’s father…” he shouted.

“I know you are…but can you actually call yourself a father?” Magnus said standing up “I just want you to know…don’t even try to hurt Alexander in anyway…he’s already too hurt because of you…don’t come near him…” Magnus said and walked away.

“I will come and see him!!! I definitely will!!!” he heard Robert shouting.

Magnus was feeling very angry and he walked to his house. 

When he went inside everyone was having fun and he didn’t want to ruin anyone’s mood, so he decided to keep the meeting to himself.

“Mags…you’re back” Alec said walking to him and kissing him on the cheek. “Mags your cheeks are frozen…did you stay outside for too long?”

Magnus couldn’t say that he didn’t actually go to work so he just shrugged his shoulders and dragged Alec to join the others. 

Their Christmas eve dinner was wonderful. They called Maryse and enjoyed the whole evening together.

“Magsy are you okay?” Helen asked noticing that Magnus was distracted.

“Yeah…I’m fine” he said.

“Don’t you lie to me…” she said turning his face towards hers “look at me and tell me the truth…did you have a fight with Alec?”

“No of course not…” Magnus said turning his head away.

“Brother I know you…you were so distracted from the time you came back after getting the ice creams…what happened?” Helen kept on asking.

Magnus sighed. “It’s…it’s about Alexander’s father…”

“What about him?” she asked

“He was here again…” Magnus said with a sigh.

“Again? Why would he come back again?” she asked.

“He didn’t tell me…he bought those chips”

“He didn’t tell you? What do you mean? Did you talk to him?”

Magnus nodded. “…and I think I got on his bad side” he sighed.

“So he yelled at you?” she asked.

“Not exactly but he…” he couldn’t finish the sentence as Izzy walked towards them.

“What are you two siblings whispering huh?” she asked.

“Nothing Izzy…it’s about uh…about Aline…” Magnus said and Helen looked at him raising one eyebrow.

“Yeah…yeah…Izzy about Aline…we should get back to enjoying the evening. Let’s go” Helen said dragging Izzy’s arm.

Magnus looked at Alec who was sitting next to his father and laughing showing something on his phone. 

I want you to always smile and be happy like this Alexander, I don’t want you to suffer anymore… Magnus thought. 

******************The next day it was finally Christmas and everyone got back together again to celebrate and enjoy themselves. Magnus was feeling nervous and always checking the CCTV footage on his phone.

“Mags? Is everything okay? You’ve checking your phone every 5 minutes…” Alec said.

“Yeah yeah…I’m just waiting for an important call…nothing more” he said smiling.

Magnus was too stressed because of Robert and he didn’t know what to do if he actually shows up. 

Except for the fact that Magnus was worried about Robert’s visit, they had a great family time after a long time.

Finally, the day was over and Magnus felt more relaxed now that he knew that the day was over and Robert wouldn’t come. But he was wrong. When they were going to go to bed, they heard the doorbell.
