Chapter 07

Catarina knew that Magnus never has had experience in dealing with something like this… so she came to stay with him. 

“Thank you for coming Cat…” Magnus said as he opened the door.

“No problem Magnus…how’s Alec?” she asked.

“His fever is not going down…” Magnus sighed.

“Don’t worry…I’ll make something to keep him hydrated” she said and went to the kitchen.

Catarina had made some soup for Alec, and then she helped Magnus to feed it to Alec. 

“When did you come back?” Catarina asked.

“Today…” he replied.

“You must be tired…You should get some sleep Magnus…” Catarina said

“No I’m fine…you should get some rest Cat, you must be so tired after the whole day of work…and you still came to help me…” Magnus said “You can use the room next to this…I’ll stay with Alec”

Catarina nodded and went to get some rest.

It was a sleepless night for Magnus. Every 20 minutes he checked Alec’s temperature and made him drink water…then from time to time he kept the wet towel on Alec’s fore head.

After about 5 to 6 hours of treating Alec… his fever reduced and Magnus felt relieved.

Alec knew he heard familiar voices but he didn’t have the strength to open his eyes nor talk. His head was hurting like crazy and he didn’t know what was happening to him. Am I going to die? he thought. No I can’t die…I need to speak to Magnus…I should have spoken to him when he came back. My head is hurting too much. His thoughts were everywhere.

Alec felt something cold touching his forehead from time to time and then he felt someone making him drink water. After sometime Alec fell asleep.

When Alec woke up, he felt much better. He opened his eyes and turned to the side of the bed.

“Magnus?” he said in a low voice. Magnus was asleep while sitting on the floor next to his bed. He reached out his hand to touch Magnus hair and stroke his head.

“Alexander?” Magnus woke up at the touch and quickly turned towards Alec. “Alexander you are awake!!” Magnus said quickly standing up and hugging Alec. But Alec quickly pulled back from the hug. 

Hearing the voice of Alec, Catarina came running inside the room. 

“Alec! I’m glad you are awake…how are you feeling?” she asked.

“I’m okay…my head is spinning a little…other than that I’m fine” he said touching his forehead.

“I’m glad you are okay” Catarina said.

“What are you doing here? I thought you were staying at your apartment…” Alec said in an annoyed tone.

“I... uh… Alexander I’m sorry…” Magnus said. 

Alec didn’t want to stay angry at Magnus but he didn’t want to easily give in. “I need to stay alone” Alec said laying back down and turning to the other side of the bed.

Magnus gave out a sigh. “I’ll see you after work Alexander, I’m sorry…” Magnus said and left the room. 

“Work is the only thing you think about…” Alec said in a low voice but Magnus couldn’t hear it, he had already left the room. But Catarina heard what Alec has said. 

“Alec…” Catarina said sitting on the bed next to Alec and keeping her hand on his shoulder “I don’t know what happened between you two…but I know that you love him and he loves you…You two should talk this out okay?” she said.

“He doesn’t love me…he loves his sister” Alec said.

“Of course he does love his sister…because she is his sister…now don’t you love Izzy?” she asked but Alec didn’t reply.

“Listen Alec, only you two know whatever happened between you…all I know is what I saw and felt about the two of you…Magnus had a sleepless night treating your fever…he didn’t even doze off until your fever was down…he kept on mumbling that he was sorry…” Catarina said.

Alec was still silent.

“I have to go home cuz Raph needs to get back to work and I have to stay with Madzie…” she said standing up 

Alec turned towards her as she stood up “Thank you Cat…for everything”

“No need to thank me Alec…” she smiled “You two better make up quickly” she smiled and left the room.
