A week and a half had passed since the incident at the Sheriff's station. Stiles had tried to leave and help Scott, but Lucy listened to her brother and kept him there. By the time Stiles was mobile again, everything was over.

Mr. Stilinski had been knocked out and missed everything but was welcomed back as Sheriff.

Melissa had seen both Derek and Scott in their true forms.

Matt had died, by drowning, in a creek not far from the station.

Allison's mother had died; she had killed herself after being bit by Derek. Lucy had tried calling and texting her friend, to no avail.

Lucy and Scott's mother was still at home, but she avoided Scott. Like she was scared, confused, or unsure. Maybe it was all three. Scott had tried, and failed, to talk to her. So, Lucy promised to give it a shot.

"Mom," Lucy said, leaning against the doorway to her mother's bedroom.

"Yeah, sweetie?" Her mother replied from inside where she was folding towels. Lucy stepped inside, picking up a towel to fold.

"Can we talk about it?" Lucy kept a watchful eye on her mother, being careful with her words.

"About what?" Her mother looked down, focusing on the towel in her own hands.

"Scott."

Her mother stopped short, the towel dropping from her hands and onto the bed. She sighed, running her fingertips over the towel before she nodded. "Sure, sweetie."

"It happened the night before the beginning of the year. Scott and Stiles were in the woods... and he got bit by an animal. They didn't know then, but it was a werewolf. Derek's uncle." Lucy watched for a reaction as she spoke, but received none, so she continued. "I didn't find out until one of Scott's first full moons. He wasn't exactly in control then, and I heard him howling. That's when they explained everything to me."

A moment of silence passed before her mother spoke up, finally looking her daughter in the eyes. "They?"

"Stiles, mostly. And then Scott when the full moon was over."

Melissa nodded, inhaling a breath of air. "And... when you say, 'explained everything,' what do you mean?"

Lucy sighed. "I think you should let Scott explain the rest, Mom. Please don't be afraid of him. He's still himself, he's just, supernatural now. He just has a few different features... and strengths."

Her mother chuckled dryly. "There's definitely some new features."

"He's still your son, Mom. Just talk to him, please? He's already hurting enough right now and he's feeling really disconnected with you right now. He won't admit it, but he needs his mom. And I think we all need each other."

Melissa nodded. "You're right, sweetie. I'm sorry, it's all just-"

"-New?" Lucy finished.

"I was going to say different, but new works too." Melissa smiled gently at her daughter, squeezing her shoulder comfortingly. "Thank you, for this and for being there for your brother when I wasn't."

"I'll always be there for him. And you didn't know, because he didn't tell you. Don't blame yourself for not knowing."

Melissa chuckled. "That's some good advice. Maybe you should go into psychology, or even therapy. Maybe guidance counseling?"

Lucy smiled, happy her mom was back. "I haven't really given that much thought, but I'll take those into consideration."

"Don't stress, you're young. Still only a sophomore."

"For now." Lucy nodded. "Summer break is just around the corner."

"You know, one of my friends from the hospital knows about some summer camps, specifically for careers. Maybe you could go and see if anything stands out? I'll ask about the dates and what not."

"Yeah," Lucy said, reaching for another towel. "I'd like that." The young girl's phone vibrated, and she pulled it out of her pocket, smiling when she saw Stiles' name.

"Who's that?" Melissa smiled cheekily, peeking to see.

"Mom! It's just Stiles, I can call him back later though-"

"-don't you dare! Go on, answer your phone. We'll talk later, sweetie."

"Okay." Lucy smiled, letting her mother rush her out of the room so she could answer the call. "Hello?"

"Hey, Luce! I'm adding Scott to this, we're gonna try a group call." Stiles' voice rang through her phone as she laid down on her bed. In mere seconds, her brother's voice came through.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Scott! Lucy's here too. Okay, so, we've got, like, a really big game tonight and I'm panicking. Like, I know I'm probably not going to play but I can't stop my heart from racing and-"

"Whoa, Stiles. It's gonna be alright, whether you play or not. We've got this. Yeah, we've had a rough time lately but we're all good and we're gonna be better than ever tonight."

"Oh, that's so easy for you to say. You've got your girlfriend in the stands, cheering you on with your number on her cheek and a kiss waiting for you at the end. God, I wish I could have that."

Lucy giggled at the way Stiles said, 'girlfriend,' as if he was a little boy and she was a disgusting girl with a made-up disease on the playground. "Stiles, he's right. We're gonna be okay and you guys are gonna do great. If you're on the bench, then I know you're going to be their number one supporter. And if you're on the field, then you're going to be tonight's MVP."

Stiles laughed at her words. "MVP? Oh, that's hilarious. Only in my dreams, Luce."

"No, listen to her Stiles. You're gonna do great if coach puts you in. And for one, Allison and I aren't really talking right now. But even if we were, having a girlfriend does not make the game easier, trust me. There's more pressure, you know, you gotta do great, look good, and impress her."

"I thought you only had to do that when you have a crush on someone? You still have to do it when you're dating?"

"Yeah! But it's not so bad, and you've still gotta treat her the way you do when you're crushing. You still have to act like you're yearning for her and chasing after her heart. But it's all worth it, in the end."

"Oh, yeah, you and the one girlfriend you've ever had would know that, wouldn't you?"

"Stiles, I think you're just overthinking everything. You're gonna do great. Your dad, my mom, and I will all be cheering you on, okay? Both of you." Lucy reassured him. "I've gotta go get ready guys, good luck! I'll see you both later!" With that being said, Lucy disconnected from the call so she could get ready.

She got changed into a comfy pair of jeans and a school tee, sporting the Beacon Hills High colors. As she was curling her hair, a thought popped into her head. A very confident thought.

After everything that had happened, maybe she shouldn't hide how she feels anymore. What if she or someone else had died during their battle with Matt and the Kanima? What if someone died with unsaid words and unspoken feelings?

And besides, Stiles had said it himself. He wanted a girl in the stands to wear his number on her cheek and give him a kiss after the game. Lucy could write his number on her cheek, #24, she did have the right color after all. And just in case he didn't feel the same way, she'd chose the safe option, a kiss on the cheek.

Butterflies filled her stomach and her heart raced. Was she going to do this? Yeah. Yeah. She was. She could do this. She was going to do this.

And Lucy was not going to back out.

But just for good measure, she called Lydia to make sure that she didn't back out.

Sitting in between her mom and Lydia, with Stiles' dad on her mother's other side, Lucy's leg bounced. His dad and her mom had seen her cheek, where #24 was written plain as day, and they had only smiled softly. Stiles, who was on the bench next to Scott, who was benched for the entire game, had yet to notice.

Lydia had grabbed Lucy's hand comfortingly a while ago, giving her tips and advice by whispering in her ear so Mr. Stilinski didn't hear. Instead of giving the same advice she had given Allison at the beginning of the year, Lydia gave Lucy advice that she could actually benefit from.

1. Act confident. Keep your head high and hold eye contact.

2. Be yourself. Just act normal.

3. Smile. You have a beautiful smile, so use it to your advantage.

4. If you're still nervous and shaky, go for a hug first. Then, kiss his cheek as you're letting go.

5. If you want, put a hand on his other cheek. Or put both your hands on his shoulders so he doesn't run off. If they win, everyone will be in a buzz and there will be a lot going on. You'll want to keep him with you so you can do it.

Lucy repeated the advice over and over again. She was very much still nervous, her heart rate gave that away, but she still wanted to do it.

"Now put on your helmet and get out there. You're in for Greenberg." Coach ordered, his naturally loud voice reaching the ears of the fans in the stands.

"Oh my God, he's going in." Lucy smiled. "He's going in!"

"Oh, no. Why is my son running out to the field?" Mr. Stilinski asked, rubbing his palms on the jeans.

"Because he's on the team?" Melissa chuckled, smiling down at her daughter's crush.

"He is," Mr. Stilinski repeated. "He's on the team. He's- he's on the field. My son is on the field!" He yelled, jumping to his feet as Lucy cheered for Stiles.

The ref whistled, signaling the start of the game. The group's excitement slowly died down as Stiles repeatedly either dropped the ball or missed it completely. "Come on, Stiles." Lucy whispered, hoping he'd manage to have at least one good play. Eventually, the ball headed towards Stiles again and he grabbed it. He took off running, only for two opposing players to run into him, knocking him to the ground as they took the ball.

At one point, Isaac was put in. Lucy and Lydia watched in confusion as he repeatedly knocked down his own team. "He knows he's supposed to be knocking out the other players, right?" Lydia asked, sighing as another Beacon Hills player went down.

"I would think so," Lucy replied, wondering what was happening. Then, as Isaac landed on the ground, she saw the problem. Jackson was on the field.

"I'll be right back." Lucy's mom stood up suddenly, heading down towards Scott, who was still on the bench. She stayed there for a moment, sharing whispers with her son before she made her way back to the stands. As soon as she left, Scott seemingly disappeared without a trace.

"Where did he go?" Lucy asked as Melissa sat back down.

"To do what he always does, I suppose." She replied, giving a knowing look to Lucy. They had talked, just like she hoped. Lucy might be in the dark currently, but she trusted Scott to resolve the situation.

The whistle blew again, and the game continued. The ball rolled out of a lacrosse stick, landing directly at Stiles' feet. He looked at it for a moment, as if surprised it was there, before he scooped it up and began to run with it. Lucy jumped to her feet as she watched him reach the net and suddenly stop. He looked over his shoulder, watching the stampede of players racing towards him. Then, he looked into the stands and Lucy could've sworn he looked right at her.

Finally, after coach shouted at him, Stiles launched the ball towards the net. The crowd erupted into cheers as the ball hit the back of the net, going right past the player guarding it. The opposing players stopped running, letting the Beacon Hills High players rush to congratulate Stiles.

"I scored a goal! I scored a goal!" He yelled, throwing his arms in the air. Lucy jumped up and down, clapping as hard as she could. His father was just as excited, hugging everyone around him, including Lucy.

Maybe it was the fact that he had scored his first goal, or maybe it was the butterflies in his stomach that Stiles got when he saw the girl of his dreams in the stands with his number on her cheek, but whatever it was kept him going.

Stiles scored again.

And again.

He suddenly became the best player on the team, and everyone was passing the ball to him as he continuously scored. After another goal, Stiles looked back into the stands, watching his friends and family cheer and hug one another. His heart filled with pride and joy as he realized he was the reason for all the excitement.

When the clock hit zero, the crowd went wild. Beacon Hills had won, all thanks to Stiles Stilinski. The crowd rushed out onto the field and Lucy's heart soared as her shoes hit the grass. She whipped her head around, eagerly looking for the boy that had stolen her heart. Her excitement and adrenaline wore off fairly quickly when she couldn't find him. Her heart slowed down in disappointment and her smile dropped. Where was he?

Lydia came up behind her, thinking her friend might be stalling. "Where is he?"

Lucy looked at her sadly, crossing her arms as she shivered. "I don't know, Lyds. I can't find him."

"Okay, okay." Lydia grabbed her hand. "It's okay, I'll help you look." The girls had barely taken a step when the stadium lights went out. The entire pitch was covered in a blanket of darkness, making it impossible to see.

Everyone was silent, unsure of what was going on, until an ear-splitting scream rippled through the crowd. Lucy gripped Lydia's hand tightly as she shouted for her mother, her brother, and Stiles. She didn't receive an answer, but the lights flashed on, blinding everyone temporarily.

Everyone was huddled around something and since she couldn't spot anyone she was looking for, Lucy pushed through the crowd with Lydia still gripping her hand for dear life. Lucy gasped, covering her mouth with her friend when she stared down at Jackson.

Lydia pushed by, screaming out for the boy she was in love with. "Jackson? What's happened to Jackson?" Tears streamed down her face as she knelt down next to his body.

"Let me through!" Lucy's mother shouted, pushing past the crowd so she could kneel next to Lydia. "He's not breathing. No pulse." She informed the coach.

"Nothing?" He asked.

"Nothing." Lifting his top, everyone gasped at the thick layer of blood that coated his stomach. Lydia cried out, her breathing becoming shallow. "Oh, my God. There's blood. There's blood."

"He did it to himself." Lucy turned around, seeing her brother and Isaac standing behind her.

"What do you mean?" She asked, looking back to Jackson.

"His claws." Isaac whispered, pointing to the spot where Jackson had impaled himself.

"Oh my God." Lucy turned around, her eyes screwed shut as her brother hugged her tightly. "Wait, have you seen him?"

"Seen who?" Scott asked, confused as she pulled away.

"Stiles." The Sheriff answered for her from the other side of Jackson. "Where's Stiles? Where- where's my son? Where's Stiles? Where the hell is my son?" He screamed, running through the crowd.

"He isn't here?" Isaac asked.

Lucy shook her head. "He made the winning goal and then it was like he disappeared. As soon as the crowd ran onto the field, he was gone."

"I'll look for him. Stay with Mom or Lydia. He might be in the locker rooms." Scott assured her, but then stopped, taking in her appearance. "You're wearing his number." It wasn't a question, but a statement that brought a small, disbelieved smile to Scott's face.

"Yeah," Lucy breathed out. "I was gonna do it, Scott. I was gonna tell him how I feel."

"Aw, that's sweet." Isaac remarked. "Not to be rude, but maybe you scared him off with the whole number thing."

"No, that wouldn't scare him off." Scott lightly hit Isaac's shoulder, giving him a glare.

"Oh God, what if he's hurt? Shit, I should've said something sooner! Maybe things would've been different-"

"-whoa, whoa, hey!" Scott interrupted. "I'm going to find him. He's going to be okay. And you're going to get the chance to tell him how you feel."

Lucy nodded, fighting to believe his words.

"Now, just go home with Mom. I will call you as soon as I find him."
