Lucy stood next to Stiles, watching as Scott and Allison raced to the top of the rock-climbing wall. Coach Finstock laughed as Allison kicked Scott's foot, causing him to fall to the mat with a thud. "McCall, I don't know why, but your pain gives me a special kind of joy."

Allison landed next on her feet next to Scott, bumping his shoulder slightly. The older girl walked back over to her friend as Stiles and Jackson hooked up their harnesses.

"That was good, like crazy good." Lucy smiled, congratulating Allison on her win.

"Thanks." She grinned. "I'm surprised I beat Scott, well, since you know."

Lucy nodded, understanding what Allison was referring to. Her brother's wolf skills did nothing to help him in gym class. Turning her attention back to the wall, she wasn't surprised to see that Jackson was nearly to the top. Stiles wasn't doing too bad himself, a little over halfway there. But Jackson was faster, reaching the top and climbing back down quickly.

With a smug look, Jackson undid his harness as Stiles reached the ground. The sheriff's son didn't seem too bent out of shape about his loss, but he was quick to get back to his spot next to Lucy.

"You did good." She whispered, looking up at him.

Stiles smiled gratefully, ignoring the thump in his chest. "Thanks."

"Okay! Next up, Evans and Erica."

At the sound of their names, Lucy glanced at the blonde girl as they walked up to the wall. "Good luck." Lucy smiled kindly, hooking her harness. Erica only nodded nervously with a tight smile. Once both of their harnesses were on, the girls started climbing.

Knowing Erica's medical history, as well as her shyness, Lucy took her time. She was careful as she climbed, not wanting to lose her footing. As she reached the halfway point, she glanced down. Erica was only a few feet off the ground and by the looks of her shaking form, she was struggling.

"Erica," Lucy started. "It's okay. You're doing good."

"Just go." Erica breathed out, the blonde holding onto the wall tightly as her lungs constricted. Lucy understood what she meant, Erica was not interested in winning. She just wanted it to be over with so she could be done. So, the brunette climbed faster, reaching the top after a short amount of time.

Cheers sounded from the ground. Allison, Lydia, Scott, and Stiles were all on the floor cheering for their friend. Seeing Erica's shaky form in the same place, Lucy climbed down to her level quickly. She reached over, placing a gentle hand on the blonde's shoulder slowly.

"It's over, Erica. We can climb down now."

Erica opened her eyes, which had been shut tightly previously and nodded. Lucy stayed with her every step off the way, the two girls reaching the mat at the same time.

As Lucy was taking off the harness, Erica had already slipped out of hers. "Thank you." She mumbled as she walked past the brunette. Lucy's eyes followed her, the girl making her curious.

The girls had their fair share of classes together over the years and they had worked together in group projects before. Lucy never would've considered them friends, but in that moment, she saw a girl in desperate need for a friend. She wasn't sure if Erica would be appreciative of her friendly advances, but she hoped the girl wouldn't make friends with the wrong crowd.

Lucy had texted Erica after hearing about the incident in the gym yesterday but got no response. She supposed the silence was her response and decided to just leave the girl alone.

She walked into the cafeteria, having plans to sit with the boys today rather than her girls. She'd be seeing Allison later anyways. Lydia had been invited to the ice rink with them but had politely turned them down. Lucy was a little nervous to go now since she and Stiles were going with Scott and Allison, who were more in love now than ever. As much as Lucy wanted it to be a double date, she knew it wasn't. But she'd be having a lot of one-on-one time with Stiles tonight, so she needed to get her feelings under control.

Lucy reached the table just as Stiles did, who dumped a set of keys on the table. The keys clattered loudly, earning in the siblings cringing at the sound.

"Got them. Pick you up right after work tonight and we'll meet at the rink, cool?" Scott nodded at Stiles words, who smiled before stealing a fry from Scott's plate. "Is Lydia coming too?"

Lucy nervously played with her gold ring. "Uh, no. She said she had homework or something to do tonight."

Stiles nodded in understanding, seemingly okay with the situation. "Do you need a ride tonight too?"

"I'm actually going to get ready at Allison's house so she's gonna drive me to the rink and then I'll drive myself home when we get back to her house."

"When was the last time you skated, Luce?" Scott asked, taking a bite of his fry.

"Probably sometime in middle school. It's not something I do often, but I am pretty good at it."

"We'll see. I bet I'll be better than you." Stiles winked playfully. Lucy laughed, the thought of Stiles landing on his ass at the rink overpowering the butterflies in her stomach, which only seemed to get worse the more she was with him.

"I doubt that." Lucy grinned. "I'll probably get stuck teaching you how to skate."

"I could teach him?" Scott offered.

Lucy scoffed. "You've never skated."

"I have great balance."

"Sure, you do." Lucy laughed. "Alli is already preparing to teach you how to skate."

Before Scott could bite back, two freshly manicured hands slammed onto the table. The trio leaned back, looking up at Lydia, who was gawking at the entrance of the cafeteria. "What, the holy hell, is that?"

Lucy turned to look at the entrance, her eyes widening as a supermodel version of Erica strutted into the room. "That's Erica."

Every pair of eyes in the room watched the girls every step. The small epileptic girl from yesterday was completely gone. Instead, a blonde bombshell walked through the cafeteria like it was her runway. She leaned over a table, taking a blood-red apple from an unfinished plate and turned on her heel, exiting the room in the same manner that she had entered.

Lucy had a bad feeling that Erica had made friends with the wrong crowd, silently praying that Derek hadn't gotten to her too.

In Allison's mirror, Lucy touched up her makeup. She was nervous, really nervous, and she wanted to look good for tonight. It wasn't a date; she reminded herself as Allison pulled an outfit from her closet.

She hadn't gone with foundation, wanting something subtle. Too much could give away her feelings if Stiles and Scott caught onto the fact that she was trying hard to look good. So, mascara, subtle concealer, light blush, and a touch of highlighter were going to be her best friends tonight.

As Lucy blended the blush, she caught Allison's eye through the mirror. "You seem nervous."

"I'm not." Lucy responded, focusing on her makeup.

"Oh. Sure. You're not nervous, which means your leg is bouncing for another reason. And you just keep knocking all your products over for fun."

Lucy closed her eyes and sighed. She hadn't even noticed that her leg was bouncing like crazy. "Sorry." She opened her eyes, sighing again. "I am nervous."

With a devious grin, Allison sat next to her friend. "Why?"

Lucy side eyed her. "You don't have to seem so excited."

"Sorry." Allison shrugged sheepishly. "I can't help it. I've never had, girl talk, like this. Lydia is still pinning over Jackson and hasn't really opened up about it." She scooted closer, a knowing smile on her lips. "So, I'm kind of hoping you'll open up about Stiles."

Lucy's eyebrows skyrocketed and her face flushed. "Am I that obvious?" She groaned, setting her brush down as she ran a hand through her curled hair.

"I saw you two at the dance. And that night at the Hale house with me and Scott. And I could tell you were nervous when Lydia said she couldn't come and then you've been like a complete wreck since you got here."

"I need help." Lucy sighed. "I cannot be a wreck tonight."

"It's okay!" Allison tossed her hair over her shoulder as she sat up dramatically. "Just be yourself and have fun."

"But he likes Lydia." Lucy groaned, reaching for her highlighter.

"He liked Lydia. Maybe he doesn't anymore. We could ask Scott?"

Her brother's pressuring about her crush went through her head. "We can't. Scott won't keep it a secret."

Allison thought about it. "We don't have to tell him. But seriously, don't be nervous. Lydia doesn't even like him, so maybe he'll get over her and then see how great you are!"

Lucy nodded slowly. "Maybe. I guess it's possible."

Allison patted her shoulder supportively, standing up to go back to her closet. Lucy added the finishing touches to her makeup, staring at herself through the mirror. Her hair was pinned back with a bow and the ends of it rested on her blue sweater. As she played with her long sleeves, she realized it was probably the thinnest sweater she owned, despite the fact that it was a little oversized. The only reason she had worn it was because it went well with her black leggings.

"Heading out?" Mr. Argent asked, knocking on the doorframe.

"Studying. Just studying, Dad." Allison corrected, tossing a shirt onto the pile of clothes on her bed. Lucy looked up, wondering how he had believed that.

"I get it," Mr. Argent spoke, gesturing for his daughter to come closer. From where they were standing, Lucy could still hear them. She went to grab her headphones to give them privacy but paused. "We need you to remember what happened. I know how this might sound, but we need you to keep an eye on her. Both of them actually."

Lucy gulped, her heart pounded. "You want me to spy on them?" she heard Allison ask.

"We want you to look out for your friends to make sure everything's okay with them." Mr. Argent corrected. Lucy was quiet as she packed her makeup back into her bag. Allison took a moment to respond, which made her blood run cold.

"She seems okay to me. They both do."

Arriving at the ice rink, the girls were greeted by Scott and Stiles who were waiting at the door for them. Allison took the lead, running through the open doors to the edge of the ice rink. Scott was right behind her, leaving Lucy with Stiles.

She smiled shyly, playing with her mother's golden heart charm necklace. "Are you ready?"

"To show you that I'm actually really amazing at skating? Of course." Catching Lucy by surprise, he gently grabbed her wrist and lead her inside the building to one of the benches by the rink. She kept her head down, hoping that he wouldn't notice her blushing as she sat down.

As she tied her skates up, the ones that Allison had brought for her, Lucy shivered. She rubbed her arms, regretting wearing the thin sweater. Stiles, catching the action out of the corner of his eye, rooted through his bag and pulled out an orange shirt.

"Here." He handed it to her with a smile. "Sorry it doesn't match your sweater." He rubbed the back of his head nervously, hoping she wouldn't complain about the colors.

"Thank you," Lucy whispered, pulling the shirt over her head. It was bigger than her blue sweater and went down to her thighs, past her sweater. The colors did not match at all, but she appreciated the thought more than anything. It brought a warm feeling to her chest, bringing a soft smile to her face. She stood up, balancing on the skates perfectly as she turned to a seated Stiles. "Come on." She held out her hand, trying to focus on the fact that he would need help instead of the flutter in her chest.

Stiles said nothing as he took her hand, letting her pull him off the bench and guide him towards the rink. Allison was already on the ice, talking to Scott who was standing at the entrance. "Since you've never skated before, maybe I should give you a few pointers?"

"Allison," Scott grinned. "Not that this is news to you or anything, but you remember the werewolf thing? Super speed, strength, and reflexes."

"So, a little ice skating should be no problem?" Allison teased.

"Yeah. See?" Scott said as he stepped onto the ice. "It's no problem- ugh!" He hit the ice with a thud as his legs gave way from under him. Lucy turned to Stiles, a knowing smile on her face. He only gave her a confident smile, so Lucy stepped onto the ice.

Skating around her brother, she glided towards the middle, doing a small spin when she reached it. Lucy then spun faster, lifting a skate off the ice, letting it hover near her other knee as her arms were clutched towards her chest. Coming to a stop, she saw Stiles watching her from the entrance, still not on the ice.

Lucy skated towards him, being careful as she went past Scott, and reached for his hand with a smile. "Come on." She repeated, pulling him onto the ice. They skated in a straight line towards the middle, never letting go of the other's hand. As they slowed down near the middle of the rink, Stiles nearly slipped. "Careful!" Lucy laughed, grabbing his other hand with her free one.

"I don't know what I'm doing." Stiles breathed out, trembling a little as Lucy let go of his hands to skate backwards.

"I know." She smiled, watching as he tried to skate forwards to get closer to her. She tilted her head, a bright smile on her face as she giggled. "It's like watching a baby take its first steps."

"Hey!" Stiles laughed, his arms flailing as he nearly fell again.

"Sorry." Lucy smiled unapologetically, skating closer to him. "You just need some practice." She grabbed both of his hands again, pulling him forward as she skated backwards.

"Okay." Stiles' voice wavered. "That's not so bad."

Lucy grinned. "Should I skate faster? Or let go?"

"No!" He gripped her hands tighter. Lucy laughed, the sound like a melody in his ears. His heart raced and he was beyond thankful that he could blame the cold for the red on his face.

After an hour of teaching him to skate, they stepped off the rink to catch a break as Allison and Scott left the photo booth.

"Your turn." Allison smiled, following Scott back onto the rink.

"Um, do- do you want to get pictures?" Stiles asked, gesturing towards the photo booth.

"Sure. That way I have something to remind me of how bad you are at skating." Lucy grinned cheekily, taking a seat on the bench inside.

"I am not that bad." Stiles rolled his eyes playfully as he bumped her shoulder. He sat down next to her, trying to keep some distance in the very small booth.

"Sure." Lucy teased as the camera turned on.

"What should we do-" Stiles started as the countdown began, starting from three.

"Smile." They both smiled just as the camera went off.

"Okay, funny face this time." To get more comfortable, and because he was nearly falling off the bench, Stiles put an arm around Lucy and scooched closer. They both went for the same funny face, tilting their heads and sticking out their tongues. Lucy laughed as the final picture came onto the screen.

"Okay, two more." Lucy brushed her baby hairs back, her heart pounding at their closeness.

"What should we do?" Stiles asked quickly, looking at her as the countdown started. Lucy looked up at him, her heart racing as she smiled shyly. "I have no idea."

The camera shutter clicked, catching the pair's eye contact. They both broke it, turning to look at the screen. "Oh, wait that's actually really good." Stiles smiled, Lucy nodded, playing with her fingers absentmindedly as she thought about how in love, they looked in it.

For the next one, Lucy wrapped her arms around Stiles and pulled him into a side hug. Resting her head on his shoulder gently, they both smiled softly as the countdown ended.

Hearing the printer, they both released each other and climbed out to see the final work. Lucy smiled, reaching for one of two strips that came out of the machine.

"These look really good, Stiles." She stared down at the pictures, imagining the look of love in the third one was real.

"Yeah..." Stiles replied softly, a smile on his lips as he admired the girl in the pictures. She wasn't Lydia Martin, no, she was something else. Sure, Lydia was beautiful, smart, and kind when she wanted to be, but Lucy Evans was all of them all of the time.

But she was his best friend's sister. Lucy was the type of girl who could get anyone she wanted, and why would she want a silly little nerdy human like him? She could have a strong, tall, werewolf like Isaac. She could have a really good lacrosse player like Jackson or anyone else on the team besides Scott and Stiles.

She could do better than him.

She'd never go for him.

So, as he watched her get back on the rink, Stiles promised himself that he wouldn't let his newly discovered crush get his hopes up.
