Die Landebahn
05:49, 25 December 2024Hudson: Yeah?
Black: How did the memory exercise go?
Hudson: Well, to hear it from Adler, it's working
(The screen then cuts to papers and documents. There is a picture of Perseus, and a map with North and South Vietnam)
Hudson: Bell remembered finding that encrypted intel in Vietnam and is almost finished decoding it
Black: Anything useful in there?
Hudson: Some names apparently. Possible leads. Park is trying to connect the dots
Black: We don't have much time. Does the team know about our mishap in Berlin yet?
Hudson: No. But if it's connected to one of those names from Bell, they'll find out soon enough
Black: You won't let that happen, Hudson. Don't say anything more than necessary
Hudson: That's never been a problem for me
(At the safehouse...)
(Bell, Adler, Lazar, Park, and Sims are all gathered around the evidence board)
Park: We've finished analyzing the names Bell acquired at Da Nang. One In particular stands out. Anton Volkov. He's a Russian Arms Dealer working out of East Berlin. Admittedly, his connection to Perseus comes as a surprise
Adler: We've got kill or capture orders on Volkov. So if we can't get to Perseus, we'll get to his men. Close off his resources... Force him out of hiding. Mason and Woods are still wrapping up business in Kiev, which means Volkov is ours. Gear up and we'll move out
(While everyone moves to attend their own business, Park and Adler stay together and talk)
Park: MI6 has been tracking Volkov for seven years. It is my strong preference we capture him rather than kill him. He holds answers to a great many questions
Adler: Your preference has been noted, Agent Park
(Park scoffs at this remark. She puts down the documents in her hands and moves away. Adler stays and sits down)
Adler: Nice work producing that name, Bell
Bell: I assume the intel we found at Da Nang was in the CIA archives?
Adler: We archive everything. CIA's like my ex-wife. Won't throw a damn thing away. The trick is knowing what's buried in that pile and getting the thing you need, when you need it
Bell: Have you ever met Perseus?
Adler: Did I ever see his face? No. That photo on the board is all we have, and it's more than twenty years old. Handsome man. I hope the years weren't kind to him
(Suddenly, Sims interrupts the two with a phone call)
Sims: Yeah. Yeah, he's here. Doc, I think you want this one
Adler: Collections?
Sims: You bouncing checks again?
Adler: I'll take it back here
(Adler goes to the back and takes the call)
Adler: Adler
(Caller responds.)
Adler: That's one perspective. I thought it went pretty damn well
(Caller responds)
Adler: What did you think would happen with him?
(Caller responds.)
Adler: You always did have the most remarkable sense of humor
(Caller responds.)
Adler: Right
(Caller responds.)
Adler: Don't worry, we're stocked. I've got enough to last at least a couple of months
(Caller responds.)
Adler: Did you just call me an optimist?
(Caller responds.)
Adler: I see. Well you have yourself a wonderful fucking day too. Bye
Sims: Here to entertain me, Bell?
Bell: I guess. Why was I requested for this team anyway?
Sims. Hey, I'm not gonna judge. You might have been red once, but you did us right in the war. Maybe sometimes you've gotta be on the wrong side first, am I right? Park's cool, but she's not company, if you get my meaning
Bell: What have you got on Volkov?
Sims: Shit, I tried to track that motherfucker years ago when he went to Italy for a douchebag conference. He's slick. If you see him, tell him Lawrence Sims says, "Hello."
Bell: Will do
Park: Bell. That intel you found in Da Nang was a treasure trove
Bell: Find anything interesting?
Park: Well you tell me. After we dug it up, you spent two full hours decrypting everything inside. You're fluent in Russian and you seemed to think "Volkov" was the name to pay attention to
Bell: I decrypted it all myself?
Park: Are you feeling alright, Bell? That's one of the reasons we wanted you on this team. Not even the CIA's best cryptographers had been able to crack that dossier. You're special, Bell. But it also sounds like you need a nap
Bell: Anything you can tell me about Volkov?
Park: Born on the coast of Leningrad. Never travels when the sun's out. He has impeccable taste in Scotch and medieval torture devices. I think he'd love the UK. I plan on giving him a personal tour
Bell: Wonderful...
Park: And one last thing. Whatever you do, don't ask Adler how he got that scar on his face
Bell: How did he get it?
Park: Do you think I'd tell you even if I knew?
Bell: I think so
(Park chuckles, amused)
Park: You're cute
(Bell chuckles)
Bell: Well, nice talking to you, Park
Park: My pleasure
Adler: We'll leave within the hour
Sims: So listen up. An ex-CIA operative named Robert Aldrich has gone rogue. Langley believes this asshole is working with Perseus to assemble a spy ring inside US borders. We recently acquired an encrypted floppy disk from one of his agents that we believe contains everything we need to know about his network. If we can get to it. We know where Aldrich is and can move on him anytime, but if we don't get into this disk first... we may nail Aldrich but leave his network intact
Adler: Alright. I'll have Bell take a crack at it. Once he's done, I'll let Mason and Woods know that we're ready. They'll be handling this one. Our source tells us that Aldrich is about to move south across Colorado and into northern New Mexico. That's where we'll intercept his convoy. We can't let a former CIA operative run a Perseus spy factory. Let's put this asshole six feet under
