2. The smoking girl

CARA

The next day, I went outside to my smoking spot where I met the girl the other day. And I still have her jacket. I have no idea how I am supposed to give back her jacket, but if I know myself right, I will find her. I sometimes have a feeling inside of me when I know something will happen. Like this time, I just know that I will see her again.

But I didn't. Not even a little glimpse of her went by my wandering eyes. Not at the whole day. But when it was like 9.00 pm when I went out to smoke on my spot, I saw her. She was heading somewhere with her friends I guess. I didn't want to shout at her, because first, I don't know her name, and second, that would be awfully embarrassing to get all eyes on me. I usually just get eyes on me by doing something Cara-like. Not by shouting something like: "Hey random girl! I got your jacket!"

And now you're asking: "What is Cara-like?" Well I'm gonna tell you. It's something typical I do. Like, getting drunk on every Friday night, that is very much Cara-like. One more example is, I'm always rude to strangers, except if they're hot. And I guess it's a unwritten rule. Don't talk to Cara except if you're hot, otherwise you will get shit.

Anyway, I saw that girl from yesterday, so I started to sneakily walk after her. I walked around the corner when I saw that she was entering a nightclub. Really? A nightclub? She didn't look like a party animal at all! I thought to myself.

So when I was 100% that she wasn't near the door, I walked inside.

The music was loud, which I'm used to. They played Acceptable In The 80's with Calvin Harris. I looked around at the dancefloor, but  could't find the girl anywhere. And because I love this song, I started to dance... I mean, I can't waste time looking around like some stupid sober girl.

I shook my head back and forth with closed eyes. I was enjoying every second on the dancefloor. I didn't even care that I would probably get a headache after this. But when I opened my eyes again, I saw her. She was sitting on the bar, talking to one of her friends. Soberly, I walked straight to her.

"Hey," I tapped her shoulder.

She turned around, and I met her confused, yet beautiful gaze.

I was slightly taken aback. I never remembered her actual face, just her... legs I guess? I don't think I even looked at her face yesterday. Whatever, it's quite beautiful.

"Hey! You're the smoker girl!" she said over the music with a grin.

I don't know why, but I didn't like to be called the smoker girl. I didn't just smoke.

"Yeah, um... I still have your jacket." I said and didn't even try to sound friendly at all.

"Right! I totally forgot!" she said. "Did you bring it?"

"No, but I have it in my apartment that is not far away from here." I explained. "Do you want me to go get it?"

"No, I can follow you to your apartment. I need air!" she said and pointed to her throat.

I faked smile and walked outside. I could hear the music still pumping from the inside. And when she was outside too, I pointed at my building.

"That's the building." I said and started to walk. I waited a little on her so she could walk next to me.

"How did you find me by the way?" she asked while we walked.

"I saw you when I was out..." I hesitated. "Smoking."

"God... You really need to stop that dude. It's not cool." she said, not even looking at me.

"That is not your choice to do." I simply said, a little annoyed.

"But it is my mission as a fellow human to help other people." she answered back.

"That is totally okay, but you don't have to help me with anything." I said and entered my building.

"So you mean that you don't have any problems in your life at all?" Now she was a little annoyed too.

"Who cares? Really. Who. Actually. Cares?" I asked serious.

"I care."

"Yeah, because you're a walking freaking sunshine." I said and walked up the stairs to the apartment.

"And I don't believe in true caring. That is all bullshit. No one really cares." I continued.

Why can't this girl just admit that I am right?

"I care." she said again.

"Really? So tell me, do you really care if I quit smoking or not? Because as I said yesterday, we will probably never see each other again! Yeah yeah, if I quit thanks to you, I will forever be grateful, but you didn't help me because you cared, you helped me because you wanted to feel good about helping me!" I finally said my last words. I thought.

"That is true, for people unlike me" she suddenly said.

I stopped and turned around.

"For people, unlike you?" I said, and looked at her like I was raging on her. "Unlike you!?"

"Yeah, unlike me" she was unnaturally calm for someone who just got a Cara mad.

"And what makes you believe that you are something special!? That you are some kind of good thing for the world!? Just because you act like you care doesn't mean that you actually care!" I lightly yelled.

"Yeah I know, but you can't judge me. You don't even know me. So you can't say anything actually, because you don't know me."

"Oh so I have to know you to judge you!?" I was really impatient now. "Well then I'll get to know you then!"

I grabbed my phone and gave it to her. She smiled to me and put her phone number in my phone. I fake grinned once again and quickly opened my door and grabbed her jacket.

"Here," I said and tossed her jacket to her."I'll see you tomorrow..."

I went inside and closed the door with a loud slam.

Sigh.

I did not see this coming. I honestly doesn't want to be with her tomorrow, but if I have to get to know her to judge her, I'll do whatever it takes just to prove her wrong. And I don't have anything else to do anyway besides smoking...

So I guess she was right.

I am the smoking girl.
