Chapter 11

A deafening roar brought the attention away from the surprise entrance of the escaped prisoners.

Nana looked away from Mihawk and saw Cal struggling to transform into his larger form. "Edward?"

"Not yet," Whitebeard called. "He's not in control. The arrival of new enemies is making him frenzy." His eyes went down to Nana and saw the calm look in her eyes looking straight past Cal and towards Ace. "What will happen if we can't save Ace?" He thought to himself as the spilled blood around her wasn't affecting her as much as it should. At least, till Whitebeard looked down to her clenched fists and saw that she was bleeding. "Such a strong will as always."

Nana unfurled her fingers before her palms healed. "Edward...I'm close to shifting." She warned him as the smell of blood was slowly becoming overwhelming.

"Crocodile is moving in on Whitebeard!" A soldier yelled out.

"It's been a while, Whitebeard." Crocodile appeared behind Whitebeard. Prepared to deal a crippling blow.

Whitebeard clucked his tongue, "You never learn, do you?" He said in annoyance, never taking his eye of the shaking redheaded woman. He was more worried that she'd deploy before her time. Never moving an inch when he sensed somebody attacking Crocodile and used that time to place his hand back on Nana's head. Calming her down. He ignored the two behind him arguing and waited till Nana stopped shaking before looking over at the kid with the straw hat. "Kid, have you come to save your brother?"

"That's right!" Luffy said back without fear. Looking up at the man and straight into his eyes. Luffy moved forward, about to say something else when he caught sight of a familiar shade of red. It wasn't the dark red of Shanks' hair but the bright red of the first woman he loved dearly. "M-mama?" He called out and looked at the familiar white gown and golden jewelry adorning her skin. "You're mama, aren't you? Oi, answer me!" Luffy called out and stepped back when the woman turned around. Luffy's jaw dropped as his eyes popped out of his head at the sight of the smiling woman and gawked when a pair of fox ears and nine tails appeared.

"It's been awhile, Luffy," Nana said calmly though her heart was racing wildly. Embarrassed that she transformed in the middle of the war but she was excited to see Luffy again. The last time she saw Luffy was when she tucked him into bed and left all those nights ago. Nana was prepared for him to yell at her or even punch her. He had more movement that Ace. Nana swallowed hard when Luffy launched at her and wrapped himself around her face in tears. Nana couldn't breathe and pulled her head out of Luffy's middle.

"M-Mama! I've m-m-missed you s-so much~" Luffy cried out as he looked down into the strong eyes of his mother figure. "Ji-chan said y-you were h-happy."

"Of course I was." Nana ignored the dripping tears and snort. "You grew up safe and happy. What parent wouldn't be happy about that? Daisuke, Luffy." Nana forcibly pulled the young boy off her face and pulled him into a proper hug. "Luffy." She said seriously, "I'm going to do something terrible. Whatever you do, don't stop me and get to Ace."

"Daisuke!" Luffy pulled away and gripped his mother's hand tightly. Matching her serious look. "I don't care that you're a demon or that you look younger than most mums. Let's go save Ace!"

They both looked at each other before matching devilish grins appeared on their faces.

"Go die!" A giant appeared and swung his giant battle axe at the two united family members.

Nana and Luffy glared up at the giant and pulled their fists back. "Don't get in the way!" They both yelled and jumped up into the air. Landing their attack square onto his jaw before safely landing back on the ship. Knocking out the giant marine.

Luffy grinned and chuckled. "Just like old times."

"Oi!" Nana whacked the back of his head with one of her tails. "Don't say that. People will think I was a bad influence!"

"You were." Garp and Ace thought at the same time.

"Oh, that's right. Old man!" Luffy called up to Whitebeard. "I'm going to save Ace so don't get in my way. Thank you for taking care of him but I'll be the one to free him!"

"Huh?" Whitebeard huffed.

"I know you want to be Pirate King but that's not going to happen!" Luffy exclaimed with stretched out arms. "I'll be the Pirate King!" Luffy laughed and didn't see the shocked reactions of those all around him.

Nana bit back her lip. Surprised his dream was still the same and ruffled his black hair.

Luffy grumbled at the affectionate touch before saying. "That's right, I need to tell you that there was a call on the ship over there." He pointed to the broken warship in the middle of the battlefield. "They're planning to move up Ace's execution time. They said it'll happen after they do some preparations."

Whitebeard and Nana looked at each other.

Nana spoke first. "I'm going to join the battle. Don't stop me."

"Ace, I'm coming!" Luffy shouted and jumped off the ship to join in on the war.

Whitebeard exchanged looks with Nana before closing his eyes. "Try not to kill my children." He wasn't going to stop an angry mother just as she wouldn't stop him.

Nana turned to the war and paused when Sengoku raised the receiver again.

"Don't let one rookie dictate the war," Sengoku spoke, annoyed by the shocked expressions of his soldiers at Luffy's prowess. "He was raised with his sworn brother, Ace, and adoptive mother, Roseate. But his actual bloodline makes him the son of the Revolutionary, Dragon."

"Tch you're getting annoying," Nana commented and grabbed her staff. Pointing it to Sengoku with narrowed eyes. "I'll kill you for what you did to my family."

"I'm coming for your flesh!" Cal bellowed over the battlefield. Being released by Akainu and jumped down into the battle. Creating a b-line towards his prey.

Nana saw the approaching demon leapt off the ship with her fangs out. "Akuma!"

"Kyuubi!" Cal shouted and he punched through several pirates and marines.

Nana weaved around few of the enemies and beat some of them out of her way. They were still a great distance away from one another so Nana was prepared to be stopped by someone with a name.

Garp watched Nana with folded arms. Everything would changed once she spilt blood.

Nana slammed the bottom of her staff in the gut of a marine and tossed him over to his gathering comrades. Her tails waved dangerously as she used them to cover her behind. "There's too many of them." Nana thought to herself as she found herself barely moving forward. Nana tossed her staff into the sky and extended her claws, getting down on all fours and curled her tails around her frame menacingly. "Who wants to die first?" She hissed, causing the enemies to step back in fear before running away from her. Nana grinned and chased after them. Pouncing onto the nearest marines and sunk her teeth into his neck and revelled in his screams. As soon as the copper taste touched her tastebuds, Nana's eyes turned into the slits of a fox and trembled in delight. Nana ripped out the man's neck and threw her tails out, stabbing through those nearby. "Delicious~" Nana sang and laughed maniacally. She touched her rosy cheeks in bliss and stretched backward. "The taste! The bitterness! Tastes sweet to me~" Nana laughed and grabbed her falling staff and boomed, "I want more!"

"Bakemono!" A marine screamed as the nine tail demon began her slaughtering frenzy. Her laughter echoing through the screams. "It's a bakemono!'

"Run away!" Another cried out and screamed when one of the tails pierced through them.

Sengoku gripped the receiver tightly at the destruction and shouted out, "Make way for the Akuma! Send him straight to her! Akainu!"

Akainu nodded to Sengoku's voice and stood up. "Akuma! Destroy her!" He ordered. He couldn't let that demon survive. She was a threat to them all and had yet to transform into her demon side.

Akuma was already halfway through his transformation and howled at his master's orders. Finally free to go all the way.

Mihawk sliced away at the attacking prisoners. His eye keeping an eye on Nana and narrowed when she gave into the bloodlust. "So this is what she means." He could see that she was still in control as she didn't attack any of the Whitebeard pirates or those that came with Luffy. She was just in the moment with her need to spill blood. Mihawk paused as a roar sounded over the battlefield and looked up high to the giant transformation of the Akuma. He was taller than the buildings on the island. "Nana!" Mihawk ran over to the woman. She didn't need his protection but he wasn't going to let her demon overwhelm her like the Akuma.

Nana looked up at the Akuma. Blood stained her lips curled in disgust at how the man had let his demon take over completely. Her eyes slide over to Ace and felt her bloodlust subdue. Nana started to run towards the rampaging demon, intending to finish him off.

"Nana!" Mihawk called out to the woman. Catching her eyes. "You can't lose!" He lurched his blade and attacked the ones surrounding her. He was hoping his eyes would convey his true message to her.

"Don't make me kill you."

Nana's eyes widened as she caught Mihawk's message and grinned happily at him. Turning to face her opponent and grabbed her gown. Nana leapt high into the air and ripped her gown off simultaneously. Revealing her naked body for a short while before morphing into her full form of the nine-tail fox demon. Four large paws landed in her place as she cried out and waved her tails around. "Akuma!" Her jaw dropped open as her deepened voice yelled to get the attention of the bulking demon.

Akuma pounded on his chest before charging at Kyuubi. Rearing his fists back and prepared to strike the fox down.

Kyuubi crouched low and prepared her tails. Ramming them forward as Akuma threw his fists. Causing a large shock wave as the two collided.

"Wooaahh!" Luffy screamed in awe with stars appearing in his eyes. Already forgetting about seeing his mother almost naked. "So cool!" He dribbled when she scratched Akuma with her giant paw. The impact caused Luffy to get blown away and groaned as somebody caught him.

"Mugiwara." Mihawk looked down at the young pirate he caught. "Don't get in their way." He warned and released the pirate. Dropping him to the ground.

Luffy shook his head and stood up. "Right! I need to get to Ace! Mama can take on that guy easily." Luffy nodded and ran off in the direction of his older brother. Waving over his shoulder to Mihawk, "Thanks Hawky!"

Mihawk frowned at the name. Shanks called him that all the time and hearing someone familiar to Shanks say it annoyed him. He didn't need two idiots to call him that. Mihawk looked up at the enraged giant fox while absentmindedly slicing those that got in his way.

Whitebeard watched the demon fight too. He knew Nana sensed him getting wounded by his own son and wanted to get to him. Though neither had time to backtrack and he was grateful that she didn't to him. "Marco," Whitebeard muttered to his first commander. "Nobody is to mark her and make sure Ace's little brother stays alive."

Marco nodded as he flew off to aid Luffy. Leaving Whitebeard to join the war.

Kyuubi's head snapped to the side as Akuma managed to land a hit. Kyuubi growled and snapped back at the enemy demon, sinking her teeth into an arm.

Neither exchanged words with each other as they traded blow. Akuma had even attacked the marines that tried to chain kyuubi down. Kyuubi had roared and fought out of the chains before accidentally attacking the island with her tails. Destroying a section of houses.

Kyuubi hissed as they skidded away from one another. Heaving as they taunted one another with snarls and gestures.

Kyuubi was so consumed in her battle that she didn't notice that Luffy had stopped Ace's early execution. She only noticed when she felt the power of the conqueror's haki run over her fur. Her eyes widened when she saw it came from Luffy and snapped her head to the distracted Akuma that was turned to attack her boy. Kyuubi screamed out and chased after Akuma and leapt high into the air, biting into his shoulder.

Akuma dropped to his knees and grabbed Kyuubi. Swinging her over his shoulder and into the ground.

Kyuubi hissed and saw Luffy next to her eye, "Don't fall, Luffy!" She scolded him before she was dragged into the air by one of her tails and slammed back into the ground. Kyuubi snapped at Akuma's leg and took a chunk out of his leg and caused him to scream out in pain. Kyuubi quickly got back up and battered away the incoming Kizaru with her tail. She could faintly feel the cannonballs hitting her but none of them hurt her as she charged towards the screaming Akuma. "Die!" Kyuubi called out.

Akuma swung and hit Kyuubi on her jaw and sent her away. Growling and stood up shakily, Akuma grabbed one of the houses and threw it at Kyuubi.

Kyuubi saw the flying house and bellowed out. Making the house fall apart from her powerful vocal cords and scatter around her. Kyuubi quickly used her tails to shield as many as the Whitebeard pirates as she could before charging after Akuma. Kyuubi tackled into Akuma and sent them both into the housing district. Kyuubi picked out the flames of Ace out of the corner of her eyes - seeing that he was free though the golden buddha form of Sengoku had her worried. Kyuubi left Akuma and ran towards the prepared Sengoku and launched her tails at him. Knocking him out of the way from landing a powerful blow to her boys. Kyuubi stood over her boys protectively and growled at Sengoku to her left and Akuma to her right. "Get out of here! Ace! Luffy!" Kyuubi ordered her kits.

"I'm not leaving you behind!" Ace shouted up at the giant beast.

"I said get out of here!" Kyuubi yelled again, "Your adventures won't end here! Go to sea and live!"

Luffy grabbed Ace's hand and pulled him along.

"What are you doing, baka?!" Ace growled at Luffy. Startled when he saw the tears dripping out of his little brother's eyes. "Luffy." Ace whispered.

"Mama said to go." Luffy sniffled as he punched a marine in the face. "Don't make her unhappy, Ace!" He scolded his older brother.

Kyuubi aimed for Akuma first and howled when Sengoku sent a powerful punch to her side. "Don't get in my way!" Kyuubi huffed and threw Akuma at Sengoku.

Sengoku caught the flying demon and put him to the side. "I should've dealt with you from the beginning." Charging to the angry demon. "Prepare yourself, Nana!"

Kyuubi barreled herself towards Sengoku. Matching his attacks and held back her wail when she felt Edward's lifeforce disappear from the world. Kyuubi attached her tails around Sengoku and tossed him away from her. Running after the flying man and poised her sharp claws into a finishing blow when she felt her heart tense and paused. "Ace..." Kyuubi snapped her head over to where she sensed the boys to be with her fox eyes widening at the sight. "Ace!" Kyuubi screamed at the sight of Ace standing protectively over Luffy - a giant fist through his middle. Kyuubi tried to run to Ace but was pressed to the ground by Akuma. Kyuubi felt her eyes shake as the fist was removed from his body. Her heart tensed further as Ace fell into Luffy's arms. Kyuubi clawed uselessly to get to Ace. Ignorant of Akuma dislocating her shoulder and breaking the bones in her front leg. Kyuubi's cry of desperation echoed over the battlefield as she felt her boys lifeforce join Edward.

Garp, being held down by Sengoku, saw the change in Nana's eyes. Her pupils stopped shaking and as she blinked and opened her eyes, he saw it. "Stop her!" Garp shouted out to anyone. He was too old to stop her rampage. "Stop her now!" The humanity in her eyes had disappeared and in her place stood the true power of the nine tail fox demon.

Kyuubi roared and stood up on her broken body. Grabbing Akuma with her good arm and slammed him into the ground in front of her. Kyuubi opened her jaws and clamped down on the Akuma's neck. Letting his screams fuel her rage as she bit down and ripped out a chunk of his flesh. Kyuubi tossed him to the side - dead.

The marines went silent as the Akuma slowly turned back into the form of Cal. She had killed him and they were next.

Kyuubi stood up tall and threw her tails out. Slamming them all over the island as she opened her jaw to the sky and let out a monstrous screech, causing everyone to cover up their ears at the sound. Kyuubi narrowed her slits down at the unphased killer of her pup and charged after him. Taking out everyone that was in her path.

Mihawk could only watch Nana lose control. The sight of her losing her son made her give into the bloodlust and rage. Mihawk grabbed his blade and ran towards Nana. Intending on keeping his word to her.

Kyuubi extended her claws out and swiped at those that dare to attack her. She was getting closer and closer to her target and she'd made him suffer. Kyuubi roared out in pain as a deep cut appeared on her back and hissed at the swordsman that managed to cut her. Kyuubi didn't recognise the man but knew he intended to kill her. Kyuubi released another roar and threw her attack at her first target.

"That's enough!" A booming voice silenced the battlefield and made the kyuubi stop in her tracks.

Kyuubi's eyes wandered over to the powerful voice. Her lips curling into a vicious snarl at the one who was stopping her revenge.

"That's enough!" The voice called out again and approached the demon fox slowly.

"Akagami." Garp muttered at the sight of the yonko. He gritted his teeth. "If there's one person besides me who can stop her. It will be you...that's if she recognises you."

Sengoku released Garp and frowned. "How does he plan to stop an unmarked demon?"

Shanks stood beside Kyuubi's large face and said gently, "That's enough, Nana. Don't cause any more unnecessary deaths. It's not who you are." He placed his hand on her snout and ignored her warning growl. "I know you're in there, Nana. Luffy is still alive and safe." Shanks saw her small shimmer in her eyes and grinned at her like she wasn't prepared to eat him. "He's alive." Shanks watched as the Kyuubi closed its eye and once they opened back up he saw the sorrowful gaze of the user. "Let go, Nana."

Kyuubi opened her mouth, "He killed my boy! I'll kill him!" She gazed to the man standing under her paw. He was covered in magma but she didn't care. "He killed my boy! My precious boy and you expect me to let him go!" Kyuubi's voice cracked and her eyes travelled lower to the fallen body of her boy and sobbed. Dropping her paw down and nudged Ace's body with her snout. "My boy~" She cried and licked him gently before nudging him again. "My boy will never open his eyes again~" She howled to the skies desperately and shook the earth by her wails. She whimpered when she saw the smile on his face and nudged at his body again. "My boy just wanted to live~" Kyuubi began to shrink and morph back into a naked woman. "He wasn't supposed to die!" Nana cried out as she clung to Ace's body. "Whether he was the son of Satan himself, he was supposed to live!" Nana stroked back Ace's hair as her tears splattered on his cold cheeks. She looked up to Shanks with broken eyes, "And you're telling me to let go! This is my boy! My boy~!" She screamed till her throat ached at Shanks. The pain of her dislocated shoulder and broken arm making her whimper as the deep cut slowly healed. Nana looked back to Ace and cupped his cheek. Whispering with a crack voice, "My precious son."

Shanks closed his eyes at the sight of the grieving woman. Had he not turned up she should've destroyed everything till she died of exhaustion. Shanks took his cloak off and covered up the naked woman. He stood tall and faced Akainu. "This war is over. If you want to continue fighting then you'll have to go through me!"

Sengoku stood before Akainu did something stupid. "This war!" He shouted, "Is over!" He looked to Akagami with concealed disdain. Wondering how he stopped the Kyuubi's rampage. "What do you want, Akagami?"

Shanks stood in front of Nana and Ace. Shielding them from the penetrating gaze of the world. "Give me Whitebeard and Ace's bodies. They fought hard and deserve a proper burial." He wanted to comfort Nana but it wasn't time yet. Shanks moved once Sengoku nodded and turned to face Nana. He crouched before the sobbing woman as she clung to Ace desperately. "Nana," Shanks whispered and watched as her shoulder popped back into place yet her arm wasn't healing at all. It was bruised and mangled. Shanks picked her up in his arms, careful to cover her body with his cloak and Lucky Roo picked up Ace and followed close by.

Nana looked up at Shanks with tears blurring her vision. "My boy~"

"I know," Shanks whispered to her. "I'm sorry I didn't arrive soon enough to stop this." He looked straight ahead as he boarded his ship. Heading straight to his room as he ordered his crew to set out as soon as Whitebeard was onboard. Shanks laid Nana down on his bed and tended to her wounds himself. "You're not healing." Looking at her broken arm.

Nana looked up at the ceiling in a heavy daze. "I've suffered too many wounds. The process has slowed down." She didn't feel the pain as Shanks rolled her onto her back.

Shanks looked at the scar on her back and frowned. Nana never had a blemish on her body yet this scar didn't fade. "This scar looks permanent."

"Good," Nana muttered, closing her eyes. Groaning into the pillow when Shanks set her bones back in place. Tears refused to leave as she felt herself drift off to sleep.
