We used to be close

Keifer's POV

I arrived at college and my eyes were still looking for Jay, as she arrived safely but she was nowhere to be seen,  looked towards the parking slot but she's not there. What the hell, was that guy a good man or tricked my Jay, did he took here somewhere else, what should I do, how can I really trace her, I shouldn't have let her go with...

"Keeper", someone screamed, it's a girl and she hugged me, "OMG, I can't believe you're in our college, your songs are really awesome and more than that you're", I tried to back off and before that few more girls joined me. Damn, why the hell I opened up my identity, though it's accidental, one of my classmates saw me at the studio and here told everyone about it and now I'm viral.

One girl almost kissed me on cheeks, I was restricting her and finally found Jay, fuck she saw this all. Already my image is not good in front of her, she always used to think of me as a playboy it's just that I changed myself for her.

I forcefully pushed all the girls and escape them and followed Jay. "why are you following me", she frowned, before I reply, "do you know him", that guy who gave her lift asked Jay, yes, she knows Mr Chauffeur, but she denied.

Well, I know that, though I was following her but, "my class is that way", and I crossed them. I want to know who this man is, I wish I had Rory and Edrix this time, I really miss my gang. Is it my time to make a comeback, now Jay is aware of me, most probably she will soon tell this to Aries and others. Is she still in contact with Section E or maybe my brothers.

I saw Jay enter the class with that guy, I want to be in her section as well, is it possible. I should ask the department about it, I too made an entry in my class and I got to know due to some reasons the class is being cancelled, fuck I hate it, not because the class is cancelled but because I've to wait for  around two hours for another class, well attendance is important.

I wanted to sit somewhere silent, and started roaming around, I reached near the sports room, "Jay's picture, she didn't give up on her passion of gun shooting", I'm so proud of my girl for being the ambassador of your department.

Does she go for a car race as well?  chuckled, "car racing is the catalyst which made our chemistry strong". That day I almost lost you, but when I saw you safe, my heart started beating again, I didn't know why but I felt that you're someone I must protect and I started caring about you, Jay.

Jay's POV

After my class was over, I was hungry and grabbed a sandwich from the canteen, my eyes went on Keifer sitting near a tree and writing something.

I'm trying my best to avoid him, it's just one day and I'm really into him again. I thought I moved on but fuck, he's still running into my mind all the time. This one year was not enough to hate him, and forget the time when we really became close to each other.

*Flashback*

Yuri nods, “I didn’t know that it’ll injure her severely, it's the action of that particular moment. That girl is Aries’s cousin and seems close to Keifer”, he said. Felix joins the conversation, “but we thought she’ll be countering Keifer, but..”, Yuri cuts him off, “if we behave nicely with her then maybe she will”.

Eman snaps, “you've got a point, and we already know Keifer, he can shrug off anyone, anytime and if she’ll become close to us it’ll affect Aries and him as well”. They all agreed and decided to treat her well.

Yuri asked Eman, “So what's up with Emy, has she agreed or not?”, Eman replied, “I don’t know, she told me that they broke up a week ago, but still Keifer was looking normal that day, whatever I’ll handle her”.

Jay finally enters the class, she looks at everyone staring at her, without saying a word she moves towards her seat but Ci-N screams from the gate, “Jay, you’re back, I thought you’ll not come”, and he jumps over her.

Eman gestures, “boys”, and they all went near her, “Welcome back, Jay”, they all said in unison, it was shocking for her but she smiled and took her seat, she looked at Yuri who passed her a smile as well, “are these guys accepting me”, she thought.

After a while Keifer barged into the class and held Eman’s collar, “I know you did it”, he yelled, Eman pushed him.

Keifer balanced himself and moved towards Eman, David tried stopping him then Ci-N too but he was not listening , but Jay held his hand, he looked at her, “what’s going on here?”, she asked, and no one replied, “you both are the same, just know to cheat, tell her I’m the one calling off the things”, Keifer said to Eman and left.

Jay looked at everyone and followed Keifer, “hey! What was that, I mean why the hell were you fighting?”. She pulled his arm, “whenever I see you, either you’re shouting, punching or scaring others away”.

Keifer clenched his jaws, “none of your business, just go back to your class”, she’s saying something but he yelled, “are you deaf?”, she gets startled, "don't you ever dare to speak with me in a loud voice, that's the reason ln they all are afraid of you", his voice became soft l, "actually", but Jay left.

Ci-N told Jay not to overthink, but she can’t help and kept asking him, “actually, Emy is Keifer’s girlfriend, she’s two years junior and sister of Eman, he doesn’t want his sister to be with him and a fight broke between two”, Ci-N finally explains.

Jay was still confused, “so, just because of it whole section E is against them”, Ci-N nods, “that’s a more big story, Keifer, Aries, Yuri, Percy, and Alex were friends but one…”, Yuri slams the bench, they both startled, ‘enough of gossip fest”, he yells, his face was red like his hairs.

“I’ve met all but Alex, who’s he and where is he?”, Jay was again left bewildered, “the previous mystery was just solved and here is another one, I might turn into a CIA officer like this”, she sighs.

Jay was done with this all, she found an isolated place near the parking area, under a tree, while eating a sub she sat by stretching her feet, life is really well when people are not around”, she leans back, and closed her eyes, “hoyee”, she heard a voice from behind the tree and gets startled, “heeyy”, and she peeked, and bumps into a head, “ahh”, she groaned, she rolled her eyes, “you’re really everywhere, Keifer”.

Keifer moves and sits beside her, “and whenever I see you, there’s food in your hand”, Jay pouts, “don’t jinx, that’s the only good thing I’ve”, he scoffed, throws his head back, “nice,at least you’ve something”,  he took out a cigarette, “have some shame, smoking in school”

She snatched away the cigarette, and pushed her half eaten subway in his mouth, “its better”, he smirked and chewed away the food.

Aries told me, you’re in a tough spot so not to tease you”, he glared at her, and scoffed, “tss..not in mood”. “So is it about a break up”, she asked, he nodded. “I saw it coming way before, just kept myself in denial for long but in the end…”.

Jay smirked, “reality hit hard and now broken heart”, he smiled as well, “yup, she cheated on me, literally, on Mark Keifer Watson”. 

Jay shook her head, “humans and their ego, and when it merges with feeling, everything got fucked up, you know when we know the truth still choose to remain in delusion cause it made us feel relived for a certain period”.

Keifer nods, “seems like you’ve also gone through something”, he chuckled, she denies, “actually this thing is not only for love but many more, well, it’s better to accept the ultimate truth that in the God will choose best for you”, she smiled. Keifer was still sitting silently,”why don’t you become a philosopher".

She got up and pulled his arms, “get up, come on”, he shrugged off her hands, “what?” she pulled him again, “get up”, she managed to make him stand, and took out his phone, “what do you want Jay-Jay?”, she asked him to unlock it, “fast”.

He snatched away his phone, “stop playing around”, I’m going, she again takes the phone, “wait”, she picks up some stones from ground, “look at her picture and say whatever is in your mind”, she handovers the stone, “and throw them away with all your power”,  he looked at her in shock, “I need to tell Angelo, better send you in a mental hospital”.

"Do it!" Keifer exhaled, his voice laced with sarcasm. "Okay!" He threw the first stone with a lackluster effort. Jay reminded him, "Use your power, Watson! Remember your ex cheated on you!

He clenched his jaws and closed his eyes, and threw away the stone with his hard muscles, “you cheater, you betrayed me, you and your brother both are useless”, he picked some more, “bitch, manipulator, gold digger, I’ll never forgive you, you mother…”, Jay keeps her hand on his mouth, “enough, are you going to curse his whole family” .

And he throws a last stone, “I hate you”, but this struck a car parked and sirens started, Keifer held Jay’s hand, “run”, and  they both hid behind a railing, and saw if someone really came, after a while, they peeked out, both grinning. "Fool in love", she teased him, he flicked her forehead, "just teenage attraction". He asked her to join in car race practice.

In the evening, they both had a fierce fight, Keifer’s car was behind and about to take over, “Shitt!”, Jay screams, Keifer heard that and he raised the speed to maximum, “what’s wrong”, he asked,  “fucking breaks, they’re not working”, she informed, her voice trembled.

Keifer’s hand became numb for a moment, “what?, do one thing”, he was saying, she tried to downshift, but the car didn't respond, and she felt a sense of weightlessness as the vehicle careened out of control and there was a turn, and she tried to steer the car through the turn but it’s no use.

The vehicle screeched and skidded, and it turned upside down, and then crashed into a tree. The sound of crunching metal and shattering glass was there, and instead of the car there was only debris.

Keifer, who was watching from the sidelines, felt his heart drop as he saw the accident unfold, he pulls emergency breaks, sprinted towards Jay’s  car, “God, fuck… Jay-Jay”, she was nowhere to be seen, “Jay-Jay”

He felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead as he took in the extent of the damage, the mangled car, sent a wave of fear through him.

He took little steps, eyes scanning the scene, the shattered glass and smoke billowing from the engine, he swallowed hard and finally showed courage to peek inside but she wasn’t there, his heart sank, “where is she?”

“Ahh..help me”, it’s Jay’s voice and Keifer turned towards it, “Jay..Jay” his voice was filled with concern, “I’m here”, it’s coming from bushes around the roadside, he rushed there and saw Jay was lying there, shaken but conscious, he helped her to get up, dusting off her dress, and felt a sense of gratitude that she was okay.

And without thinking, Keifer pulled Jay into a tight hug, holding her close as if he'd never let her go, “Oh.. I thought I lost you”, he caressed her hair, “I can’t even imagine what could have happened just now, I might have lost you”. He felt for

Jay was really startled, though she perfectly fits into his arms and finds comfort, she can feel his high heartbeats as her head is pressed against his chest, “I just saw death… literally just in front of my eyes”, she whispered.

Keifer tightens the grip, “it’s my fault, but we’re not going to come back here, never", he said and kissed her forehead, “thank God, you’re fine”, he hugged her again.

Meanwhile Jay finally processed the things, she felt safe in his embrace and sensed a change in Keifer’s demeanour but she didn’t dislike it even though it was comforting for her, she was still scared. Keifer rubs her back & she leans into his arms.

*Flashback over*

This was the first time I felt something for you that you're special, you've literally a place in my life, Keifer. I was staring at him, suddenly he looked at me, and I turned towards the other side.

I can trace his movements, he was approaching me, but why don't you come near me Keifer, don't. I moved into another direction and suddenly my foot tripped due to a stone, I know I was about to fall but a pair of strong hands held me.

I opened up my eyes assuming it might be Keifer, "Benjamin", he was smiling, "you're so clumsy Jay", I was about to stand but he didn't let me, "are you alright?". I nodded & finally stood up straight.

Keifer was nearby us this time, he pulled me "still you don't know how to walk properly", a possessive man still alive in him, "I'm alright, you don't have to poke your nose, Mr Watson". He was still holding me by my arms, his touch was still comforting for me.

Keifer's POV

I saw her going, after stealing glances from me, does she want to ask something from me. I moved towards her but she paced up and nearly fell but that guy again grabbed him, "Benjamin", i heard her addressing him.

It's enough, it's not in my hands now. I thought I'm no longer an aggressive guy and has got control over my anger but no, my blood boiled when he's clinging to her and I know she was not comfortable at all. I feel like kicking him to the death, "leave my Jay-Jay, you, damn asshole". 

I don't know when my foot took me there and I pulled Jay by her arm, "Jay, you need to go in the medical room?" , she denied and pulled her hand. It felt too good after holding her, it's been too long I felt her, "We need to talk", she said to me.

Need to talk, about what? I really don't have the courage to face that all and explain everything, have mercy on me Jay. Let things keep going as it's going.

I got the call and I escaped , it's from my producer, who invited me to Australia to compose a song for them, the reason I'm here. He wanted to meet me in the evening.

Jay's POV

What's the problem with this man, still trying to dictate my life. We've nothing to do with each other but no, him being a complete jerk has to come. Ben asked me about him, "my high school mate and nothing else". Ben is just my good friend and how does it matter if there's something more, "I don't give a damn, Keifer, what's with you and your life".

I was really pissed with whatever happened, but when he held my hand I felt good, "Do I still like him?". No, no... I don't even know where he's from one year and those girls surrounding him, he's still a Playboy.

Only ice cream can change my mood, I went to a departmental story to grab one, "my fav choco bomber". Fuck! It's raining, I saw a familiar figure standing by the door. "Mr Amrand", my HR ge turned, "Miss Mariano, how're you here".

I replied him, "actually my apartment is nearby", he told me that he's here to meet someone, his driver is not picking up the phone now. I offered him to come to my home until his driver came.  We went to my home, Keifer was not home yet.

I ask him to sit, I really admire him, he's just graduated and became HR and soon is going to be promoted. I started brewing coffee for him, his eyes were looking around, "your home is quite good". I served him the coffee, "it's rented".

And the door clicks, Keifer entered, he's drenched into water, "achoo" he sneezed. Our attention shifts towards him, "your boyfriend", Mr Amrand asked. I saw a smirk forming around his Keifer's lips, this shameless man, "Sir he's just my flat mate"
