Chapter 3: The Lakes

"Show me yours and I'll show you mine, meet me in the woods tonight..."

Emme gathered he things bring a small bag of sweets and fruit as she hugged her grandmother goodbye and made her way to the covey.

"Is that more sweets?" Maude ivory asked Emme smiled nodding her head as she handed them over to her.

"She's going to deem you as her favorite if you keep giving us sweets." Lucy Gray joked as she ate one of the sweets.

"I highly doubt that you're pretty easy to stay at the top." Emme joked back, Lucy Gray laughed lightly.

"I hope we're not too late." Voices said behind the two of you.

"None sense your right on time!" Lucy Gray said.

"I'm glad. Thank you for inviting us. I brought some food my Ma has made for all of us to enjoy." Sejanus said with a smile. Lucy Gray smiled taking his hand.

"That's mighty kind of you.. thank you." Lucy Gray said as she gave him a kiss on the cheek. Which made Sejanus smile back with a dusting of blush that rose on his cheeks.

"Hey gorgeous.." Coriolanus whispered in Emme's ear wrapping his arm around her. Emme looked at him giving him a smile before kissing him he kissed her back deepening the kiss.

"Alright y'all ready?" Lucy Gray asked the covey. Everyone nodded as the group started walking in the direction of the lake. Lucy Gray started singing with a few others joining as Emme and Coriolanus stayed back a bit holding each other's hands and talking about numerous things.

"So what's the lake like?" Sejanus asked. Lucy Gray looked at him.

"We don't have places like that in the capital.." Coriolanus said. Lucy Gray nodded understanding.

"It's where a lot of us go swimming, fishing, or just go find peace. It's beautiful out here." She explained.

"You're going to love it!" Maude Ivory said. Emme laughed lightly at her enthusiasm.

"Look we're here!!" Maude Ivory said as she took off her dress and jumped in with Tam Amber following.

"Wow." Sejanus said as he admired the view. Lucy Gray smiled brightly coming up next to Emme.

"Come on." Lucy Gray nudged Emme. As she and Sejanus stripped into their garments and jumped into the water.

Emme giggled softly as she slowly started to pull off her dress laying it on the ground catching Coriolanus's eyes on her she sent him a playful smirk as she dove in the water. He snapped out of his gaze and followed her into the water sending waves as he cannoned balled in the group laughed as they all got splashed. He swam up next to her. She gave him a smile shaking her head as he put his arms around her.

Little while later, everyone went their separate ways. Lucy Gray and Sejanus went to Sun bathe and relax with each other over near the little shack right beside the lake. While some swam and the others went to go look for plants. Which left Emme and Coriolanus holding onto each other as they floated.

"You seem happier today." Coriolanus said, Emme looked at him.

"I'm having a good day." She said smiling.

"Good." Coriolanus said into her ear as he brought her into a deep passionate kiss. Before putting his forehead against hers.

  After floating for a little while longer and made out a bit... they went over to a spot half in the sun half in the shade. Emme's head on Coriolanus's lap while he propped himself up running his fingers through her hair.

"Can I ask you something." Coriolanus asked her. Emme opened her eyes looking up at him with a smile.

"What is it?" She asked her eyes glistening in the sun.

"How are you here?" Coriolanus asked. Emme sighed sitting up fixing her dress Coriolanus followed her his eyes fixed on her.

"Theirs something you should know.." Emme said turning her gaze back to him. He leaned closer.

"I-I'm not originally from the capital..." Emme said taking a gulp as she moved her gaze away from and start to pick at the flower in her hand.

"I grew up here the first few years of my life with my grandmother.. due to my home life. I never really understood why.." she continued Coriolanus looked at her in shock with a million thoughts going through his mind. "Lucy gray and I have known each other ever since we ugh.. kinda grew up together. They would send me to my Grandmothers every now and then until I was 12-13?"

  Emme finally had the courage to look back at Coriolanus as he was in deep thought. "How come you've never said anything?"

"I couldn't tell anyone. I mean.. could you imagine? 'The loner girl' is from one of the lowest districts. You see how they treat outsiders.." Emme sighed looking off. "And I was afraid if I would have told you or Ashe. That'd be it.."

Coriolanus furrowed his brows pulling her into him and making her look at him.

"You've seen my place not so grand is it? You protected my facade. I would've protected yours as well.." He lifted her chin looking into her perfect gray blue eyes. "I will always protect you.."

Coriolanus didn't know if it would've been true but he remembers when they first met. Him and Tigris scrummaging around for food or money and there she was holding a basket of goods for them and it continued from that day on. He knew from that moment that she would be his. And His alone.

  Emme sighed with a stray tear sliding down her cheek. Coriolanus brushed it away with his thumb before pulling her into a deep passionate kiss.
