we're going overseas? what do you mean i'm coming too?
06:08, 2 February 2018School was the same the day after. People kept asking me to attend their club and parties, so I guess that was new. But, I think them talking to me was worse than me being alone. I ran as far as I could and came to the school balcony. I put my books down and steadied my breath.
"For a former martial art student I'd expect you'd be in shape." Ji-Hoo came next to me and looked out to the buildings. I hummed in response.
"I still am you know. . ." I mumbled. He laughed and I smiled gently.
"Sunbae?" I said quietly. We stood in a few seconds of silence before I broke it.
"Why did you leave?" I asked. He answered, but not in the way the question was asked.
"I'm not going back, if that can answer your question." I stared at my books and felt the covers.
"So is it true? You actually like one of my friends?" I glanced at him with a red face.
"Who told you that?" I said. He sighed.
"I was too late wasn't I,"
"What are you talking about?"
"When I was Paris, I was going after one thing, but my mind kept wandering off to other places," He looked to me then back down.
"I knew because it kept coming back to you." I stayed quiet.
"I missed you."
"Ji-Hoo," He then without another word exited, and left.
"Ji-Hoo. . ."
It was the next day and I was walking the city streets. Since it was winter break we had a couple weeks off of school, and the porridge shop wasn't busy so nothing exciting would be happening anytime soon. I heard a loud motor near closer to me but I ignored it. Suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder and I whipped around.
"Yi-Jeong!" I pursed my lips. "Do you need something?" I asked.
"I wanted to repay you for bringing me home that night. Would you care if I brought you shopping today?"
"Shopping?" I paused and looked at him. "Why so sudden?"
"Just follow me." He grabbed my wrist and pulled me into his car. He told the driver to take us to the mall immediately and he buckled my seat-belt for me. I swatted his hand away and did it myself.
"I'm not a little kid."
"I just want you to be safe." I felt my warm cheeks and rolled my eyes.
"Whatever."
"How did you know I was even here?"
"You're pretty hard to miss. And what else would you be doing?"
"Harsh." I whispered. We arrived and we got out. I thanked the driver and followed Yi-Jeong's lead. We looked at a lot of things and went into many shops. After putting so much in the basket I kind of felt bad that he was spending so much of his money on me. I put my hand on his shoulder and stopped him.
"That's a lot of clothes. Are you sure you want to give me all these things?" He turned around and gave me a confused look.
"Do you not want it?"
"That's not the point, Yi-Jeong." I muttered. He remained confused and I looked up, noticing his awfully sad demeanor.
"But thank you. Carrying you was a hard job." He smiled once again and guided us toward the shoes.
Just like a child, I thought.
We were finally done and somehow we were all waiting by a plane.
"Why are we near a plane?" I asked.
"We were going a trip anyways, so we decided that you should tag along too." Woo-Bin said. I dropped my jaw in awe.
"Where exactly are we going?"
"A private island, you could say." What? I touched my forehead in confusion. How is it possible a student could own an island?
"Here they are!" Ga Eul and Jan-di then came into sight. They ran to me and touched my face and hands.
"Are you okay? They said something happened to you." I stopped their hands and looked to Yi-Jeong. He shrugged.
"How else would we get them here?" I blew the hair out of my face.
"You. . . "
We were now on the plane, and I sat in front of Ga Eul and Jan-di. Ji-Hoo was beside me on the other side of the plane. Everyone had fallen asleep so quickly and I was the last one awake. I stared at the window and played with my bracelet.
Why?
After a few more hours of flying, we were nearing our destination. I looked out the window in awe as we flew over beautiful blue waters and green islands. It was breathtaking.
"Wow," I whispered to myself.
We got off the plane and I slung my purse over my shoulder. We headed down to our rooms and it was if we were floating on water. But Yi-Jeong told me we were, so please disregard my comment.
I went into my room and started putting away my things. I put away my hairdryer and clothes in the drawers, as well as my jewelry near the sink. I fixed my outfit before I went out. I wore a blue-and-white plaid dress, that had straps on the shoulders and sleeves that ended at the beginning of my elbows, embellished with elastic frill. I put on white heeled sandals. and fixed my hair. I put my hair in a low bun and pulled some pieces out. I looked in the mirror once more before putting on a sunhat and out the door I went.
(If I didn't explain it well here's the dress. The hat is big and tan.)
"You look stunning." I scoffed lightly and faced away from Yi-Jeong.
"I wear dresses everyday." I muttered. He laughed and put his arm around me. I could hear Ga Eul and Jan-di squealing. I sighed. I put my hands together and faced the sky.
"Help Me." I mouthed.
We toured the island, and went into many little shoppes. I messed around with Ga Eul and Jan-di, and surprisingly we had a great time. When it was near the end, we were heading back to our hotel rooms, and passed by a little girl. I stayed behind and watched as Ji-Hoo stared at the flowers. When he left I decided to take a look. The small little girl handed me a flowerpot and said it was for the one who you love. I smiled and placed it back.
"I'll come back." I said back in her language. She nodded happily. I then ran to catch up with the others.
It was now night and I was going for a stroll. I told Yi-Jeong I would be fine and directed him to go to sleep. I was walking along the railing until I spotted someone sitting near the shoreline. I stopped and realized who it was.
I slowly and quietly made my way over there. I sat next to him and admired the smell and daunting scene of the waves.
"Shouldn't you be asleep?" I glanced at him then back at the ocean.
"Shouldn't you be in Paris?" I said seriously. He stopped joking around and sighed. It was a few moments before he spoke.
"It was when I went there how I realized how pathetic I was." I glanced at him and played with my necklace.
"All alone, waiting." He looked at me and spoke clearly.
"Do you know how it feels to be a burden to someone you love?" I stayed quiet and stared at the floor.
"A guy like me; loving a girl out of habit, is the only thing I can do." I stood up and flicked his forehead. He looked taken aback but listened to my words.
"You listen to me very carefully. You are not what you say you are. You are talented, fortunate, and can do anything you put your mind to. Loving a girl out of habit may be a bad thing, but it is nothing to be ashamed off. Love is a precious thing, and if you let it slip away like that then you really are an idiot. You say you're a burden but think of everyone else who loves and admires you. You are their motivation to continue to be themselves and going on with life." I paused and looked him in the eye.
"Do you know how it feels to love someone and the time they only notice you is when they stop loving someone else?" I whispered. He stared into my eyes and let out a chuckle. I huffed and looked out to the water.
"Here," He turned me around and extended a potted plant. It was the same one from earlier.
"What's this?" I said under my breath.
"Take it." I thought for a moment before rejecting it and molding his hands back around it. I looked up to him and back at the sandy ground.
"This doesn't belong to me. It belongs to her." He stared down as my hands wrapped around his. I slowly removed my hands held them together.
"If you stay out like this you'll get sick." I was about to leave when I felt a hand tug around my wrist and pull me into a warm embrace.
"I've been cold. So cold that I can't handle it anymore." He whispered. After a while I slowly wrapped my arms around him and spoke. I dug my face into his neck and muttered my words.
"You aren't alone."
