you came back?
07:21, 6 April 2019It's been a week since that night. Currently, I was walking with Jun-Pyo right in the park the day after. He told me that it was something important, and somehow I was convinced that it was. I stuffed my hands in my pocket and watched as the cobblestone passed beneath our feet.
"So why am I here again?"
"I wanted to clear some things up between us."
"Us?"
"Not romantically I mean."
"I never thought the great Gu Jun-Pyo would take precious time out of his day to talk to me."
"Can you stop being sarcastic for one second?"
"Sorry,"
"Anyway, I want to apologize for all I've done to you. I know how much my friends like you and for once I'm swallowing my pride to receive your forgiveness."
"You want me to accept your apologies?" I asked. He snapped his head to me and furrowed his eyebrows.
"That's what I just said!"
"Fine then; your answer is no."
"What?" He stuttered.
"I will not be accepting your apologies,"
"Why not? Do you have finance problems? If you do I'll fix them!"
"That's not the point!" I waved my hand and crossed my arms.
"If you want me to take your apology, then you'll have to show me that you're sorry and work for it. I don't like sympathy, but what I do enjoy is people actually dedicating themselves to their words."
"Are you expecting me to work just so you can accept my guilt?"
"Well yeah. If you are truly a good person then I want you to be my friend. I never thought I would be saying this but here; if you're willing to express your guilt just for Yi-Jeong and Woo-Bin, then you can do it by using actions too. And if I am worthy of being your acquaintance then you will do just enough to make me forgive you. Got it?" I pressed my finger into his chest and put my hands on my waist. He hesitantly nodded and grunted.
"I don't get you women. You always want something from men don't you?"
"I don't think you should be talking. . ."
"Shut up." I sighed and smiled.
"Goodbye Jun-Pyo. Until I've seen you work hard enough, then I'll forgive you. Bye-bye!" I then began walking back home. I had to work that day so I knew right after I changed what to do next. When I arrived home I put on some work clothes. I put on a thin, blue polka-dotted dress over a white turtleneck with black tights and black flats and headed out the door.
"Hello!" I shouted throughout the restaurant. Jan-di and Ga Eul greeted me back loudly as I put on my apron and and fixed my headband.
"So anything happen recently?" Jan-di asked all of us.
"Nothing much, except school." Ga Eul said. I smiled to myself as I wiped the counters.
"So-Young?"
"Yeah?" I snapped out of my trance and responded.
"What happened?" They both crowded in my face. I laughed and tried to play it off cool.
"What? Nothing! Nothing happened." They remained with an unsure look on their faces.
"Are we going to have use the special method to get it out of you?" I widened my eyes and ran around the restaurant.
"No! Get away!" I screamed, thrashing my wet towel behind me.
"Tickle!" They said. We laughed as I struggled to get away from them. I came to a stop in the corner of the store and frowned.
"I'll tell you okay!" They put their hands down and I sighed.
"Are you ready? I'm only saying this once."
"Yes!"
"Okay. . ." I said. I pulled them closer and whispered.
"I kissed Yi-Jeong." They gasped excessively loud as the bell on the door chimed.
"You kissed~!" I shushed Ga Eul as the customer walked in. I quickly ran up to them and bowed.
"Welcome!" But when I looked up, It felt like I forgot how to breathe.
"We always seem to meet everywhere, don't we?"
"Ji-Hoo, you're back. . ." I stared at him. He didn't seem like the same person anymore though.
"Now, back to the serious matter," He questioned me.
"What was that secret?"
"No way." I whispered to myself.
"Thank you!" I said cheerfully as Ji-Hoo exited the restaurant. I turned around and sighed as I sat down. Ga Eul and Jan-di sat in front of me.
"Why is he back in Korea? I thought he went to Paris!" Jan-di asked. I blew the hair of my face and shook my head.
"I guess something happened so he came back." Ga Eul said. I stretched and dusted off my apron.
"Well I guess now that he's here, F4 will have to welcome him back." I said. I grabbed my friend's arms and told them to start cleaning. I slowly wiped the tables and saw my reflection in the table.
"Why did he have to come back now?" I whispered.
The next day I walked to school with my brother.
"You've been gone from home a lot; what are you doing?"
"Huh?" I stopped playing with my blazer and glanced at him.
"Oh uh, just hanging with some friends."
"What friends?" I paused for a moment before answering.
"If I tell you please don't get mad. . ."
"Okay."
"I was accompanying one of the F4 boys. We just went to the park and that's it!"
"On a date?" He asked. I nodded hesitantly. He laughed.
"Hey, what's so funny?"
"You're just full of surprises aren't you?"
"What?"
"If you're going to go out with someone like them, please don't make a decision you'll regret."
"Sa-Do?"
"I'm walking you home today, so wait for me alright?" I nodded as he walked further away.
"Okay. . ."
I was left standing in the middle of campus, wondering about his words.
Hopefully I don't regret it anyway.
When it was lunchtime I walked with F4, because they said it was something important. And once again, I believed them.
Jun-Pyo rang the bell and everyone congregated in front of the staircase.
"Listen brats! This is Seung So-Young, and if any of you hurt, harass, or talk her down, you are personally hurting F4 as well. She is apart of us now, and if you don't support it I don't care." He shouted. I avoided eye contact with the students as they agreed to his speech. I saw the three girls faint and everyone else mutter incoherently. Jun-Pyo grabbed me by the shoulders and shouted once more.
"From today, she is ours! Understand?"
"Yes!"
"Understand?"
"Yes!"
"May I join in the fun too?" We all turned around and everyone gasped. I cocked my head and chuckled.
"You. . ." I mumbled.
"Ji-Hoo?" Yi-Jeong asked.
"I'm back. You missed me?"
When school was over and I was going home, I remembered something. The sneakers.
I went over to pick up the bag and look at the shoes to see if they were still clean. I completely forgot! And now that Ji-Hoo's back I can return them. I dressed in my warm clothes and made my way to the secret warehouse that Yi-Jeong showed me one day. I arrived and went inside. I looked around to find Ji-Hoo, but when I did he was surrounded by women. My smile slowly faded and the bag laid limp in my arm.
"What brings you here?" Jun-Pyo asked.
"Oh! Um, nothing special." I looked at the bag one more time before handing it to Jun-Pyo.
"When they leave, please give this to Ji-Hoo."
"So-Young?" I looked up and met Yi-Jeong's eyes. I smiled quickly and ran out.
"What a fool. Did I really think he actually meant those words he said before?" I whispered.
"So-Young!" I heard the faint sound of Yi-Jeong's voice but kept running.
"What an idiot I am."
And even though I had soon realized my feelings for Yi-Jeong, a part of my heart still shattered at the sight of those women, smiling with the infamous heartbreaker, Yoon Ji-Hoo.
