___________The group finally stopped running after what felt like an eternity. They crouched behind the cinema, sweat dripping down their brows, breaths heavy and chaotic. They looked at each other, half-laughing, half-shocked.
Jason said, "Did we just run away... from actual gangsters?"
Brad said, "Jason, did you really push me while we were running?"
Jason shrugged, catching his breath. "...It was for the greater good."
He smirked, "You're crazy, man."
Jason chuckled, "And Jake's the craziest one of all, haha!"
Not far from them, Jake was hunched over, checking his bike for any damage, his huge frame now hunched in apology.
Jerry said, "Sorry for the trouble, Jake... I got a little too pumped up."
He gave Jerry a thumbs up.
Hyunwoo sighed, rubbing his temple. "You went full berserk... then ran like hell. That's talent."
Hyunwoo said, leaning against the wall. "What kind of idiots run straight into gangsters, then run away like middle schoolers after breaking a window?"
Jake replied, "Hey, you're the one who said we were Big Deal."
Hyunwoo rolled his eyes, "Only because I knew you'd say it if I didn't."
The group laughed in relief—nervous, exhausted, but strangely... proud.
As things calmed down, Brad glanced at Jerry and tilted his head.
Brad whispered, "Hey... doesn't Jerry look kinda like that Black Bear acting chief?"
Jason nodded, "I almost thought Jerry was his son."
They all turned to look at Jerry.
Jerry turned around slowly, confused. "What?"
Jake grinned, "Don't worry, man. Just... try not to headbutt your dad next time."
Samuel stepped forward with slow, deliberate steps. His eyes, burning with anger, scanned the group — but stopped at Jake.
With a snap of his foot, Samuel sent Jerry's bike flying with a sharp kick. The metal crashed to the ground beside Jerry with a loud clang, but he wasn't touched — only frozen, staring at Samuel with wide eyes.
Samuel said, "You're all bark, Jake. That's all you've ever been."
The words hung heavy in the air. Jake stood silently, brushing the dirt off his jacket. His expression was unreadable.
Samuel stepped closer, his voice rising with every word.Samuel said, "You. The so-called leader. Getting praised by Sinu Han like you're someone special. It makes me sick."
He paused, then pointed.
Samuel said, "You think you're Big Deal now? Leading four people?"
He laughed bitterly.
Samuel said, "Four guys? That's it? That's your whole gang?"
Jake looked up slowly, his gaze locked on Samuel. The others stood behind him — Jason, Brad, Jerry, and Hyunwoo. No one moved. No one looked away.
Jake said, "Yeah. Just four."
He took a step forward.
Jake said, "But these four? They'd bleed for me. That's more than I can say about the traitors that follow you."
Samuel's face twisted, half-smirk, half-sneer.
Samuel said, "Still hiding behind words, Jake. Still pretending loyalty is worth more than power."
Jake said, "It is. Because loyalty stays. Power doesn't."
Silence.
And then —
Hyunwoo stepped up, arms crossed, his voice calm, but cutting.
Hyunwoo said, "But aren't you the one who already lost?"
Samuel turned to him, eyes narrowing.
Hyunwoo said, "So what is this? Another attempt? What are you trying to prove? That Jake's better than you? We already know."
Samuel didn't speak. His jaw tightened. His fists clenched. But his silence said more than his words could.
Hyunwoo said, "You had your chance. You lost. You think kicking a bicycle makes you look strong?"
A beat passed.
Hyunwoo added, "You're not scary, Samuel. You're desperate."
The tension crackled like static in the air. Jake looked at Hyunwoo, then at Samuel.
Jake said, "You still want a fight?"
Samuel said, "Always."
Just then,Hyunwoo narrowed his eyes as he felt something.
The air had shifted—no longer just heavy from the fight between Samuel and Jake. Now it was suffocating, thick with the weight of something worse.
They weren't in Big Deal's turf anymore.
A dozen men in black jackets tightened the circle, their boots scraping on the concrete, some smirking, some expressionless. Others cracked their necks, twirled knives between their fingers. Some leaned lazily, pretending this was all just another day.
But Hyunwoo could tell—they weren't pretending.
From the center of it all, Robert Choi, acting chief of the Black Bear Gang, adjusted his cuffs as he walked toward them with the calmness of a man used to power. No rush. No threat.
Just inevitability.
Robert said, "Isn't this touching? Big Deals members holding hands in the middle of my street."
Jake tensed, eyes flicking to the exits.
Jerry said, "Jake... We're surrounded."
Jason muttered, "There's too many."
Brad looked at his fists, "I can take three... maybe four. But not all of them."
Robert stopped a few feet from Hyunwoo, who was standing tall, unfazed, hands still in his pockets.
Robert said, "Let me guess. You boys were so busy measuring your d*cks, you didn't even realize where you were."
He laughed, a low, mocking chuckle.
Robert said, "This is Black Bear territory now. And you—every one of you—just trespassed."
Samuel snapped, "You talk too much. If you want to fight, let's fight."
Robert raised an eyebrow, almost amused.
Robert said, "You? The hothead from Gangseo Union? I heard about you. Samuel Seo, right?"
He looked Samuel up and down like sizing up meat in a market.
Robert said, "You've got fire. I like that. But unfortunately..."
He turned his gaze back to Hyunwoo, as if ignoring Samuel entirely.
Robert said, "...I'm more interested in him."
Hyunwoo blinked once, then sighed.
Hyunwoo said, "You're wasting your breath."
Robert smirked.
Robert said, "You got a name, kid?"
Hyunwoo replied flatly, "Does it matter?"
Robert chuckled again, turning to his men.
Robert said, "Look at this one. Calm, sharp eyes. Probably thinks he's the protagonist of some manga."
A few of the Black Bear thugs chuckled. The mood was turning sour.
Jake finally spoke, voice steady but low.
Jake said, "We didn't come here for this. We were just—"
Robert cut in sharply, "No, no, no. You came here to fight. I'm just making sure you don't leave disappointed."
He nodded to his men.
Knives flicked open. Metal glinted in the fading daylight. The circle tightened.
Jerry said quietly, "Boss..."
Jake said, "Yeah?"
Jerry said, "...What now?"
Jake clenched his jaw. Then he turned to Hyunwoo.
Jake said, "You're the tactician. What do we do?"
Hyunwoo looked around.Outnumbered. Surrounded. No allies in sight. No time to call for backup. If they ran now—they'd get caught and cornered in an alley.
But if they fought?
Then at least they'd choose the terms.
He stepped forward, eyes locked on Robert.
Hyunwoo said, "You want a show?"
He dropped his bag slowly to the ground.
Hyunwoo said, "Fine. Let's give you one."
Robert grinned. The kind of grin that said finally.
Robert said, "Now we're talking."
But before the Black Bear Gang could move—
Hyunwoo added, "But I go first."
He took two steps forward. The crowd of gangsters parted slightly, confused. One reached out—
And in a blur—Hyunwoo's fist slammed into the man's stomach.
A thud. A grunt. The gangster collapsed, wheezing, clutching his gut.
Everyone froze.
Jake whispered, "...Whoa."
Samuel blinked, "That speed..."
Hyunwoo shook his knuckles and looked at Robert.
Hyunwoo said, "If this is your turf, then I'll be polite..."
He cracked his neck.
Hyunwoo said, "...and start by cleaning it up."
The first thug hit the ground hard, groaning.
For a second, no one moved. Then, like a pack of wolves smelling blood—
"GET HIM!!"
Four men lunged at once. One came from the front with a wild swing. Another tried to tackle from behind. Two more flanked the sides.
But Hyunwoo didn't step back.He stepped into it.
CRACK!A vicious elbow to the throat dropped the first. He twisted around—WHAM!Back kick into the ribs of the one behind him, sending him sprawling into the cinema wall.
The two on the sides charged together—Hyunwoo ducked low, spun between them, and caught both their ankles mid-move.BAM—BAM!They hit the ground hard, winded and stunned.
Samuel whistled."Damn. That was clean."
Jake, fists clenched, stepped forward to join the fray."Let's not let him have all the fun."
Jason and Brad followed, though their faces were tense.
A Black Bear thug lunged toward Jason—Jason ducked under the punch and jabbed twice, but his attacks didn't land hard enough.
Brad tackled another, sending both of them rolling to the side, but he was clearly struggling to hold the guy down.
Jerry, panting, kept circling on his bicycle, using it as a barrier to shove against a few of the gangsters trying to flank the group.
Jerry shouted, "Boss Jake! Watch your left!"
Jake turned just in time—CLANG!His forearm blocked a pipe strike. He grunted and retaliated with a heavy hook to the attacker's jaw. The man stumbled but didn't fall.
Jake cursed under his breath. These guys were tougher than expected.
Meanwhile—
Hyunwoo's hoodie was already stained with sweat, his breathing controlled, his eyes sharp. Two more came at him with knives.
One slashed horizontally. Hyunwoo leaned back, avoiding it by inches. The second jabbed straight toward his chest.
He caught the wrist—twisted—then drove his knee into the gangster's face. The man crumpled like a sack of bricks.
The other tried to run.Too slow.Hyunwoo grabbed him by the collar and yanked him back before slamming him against the wall.
Hyunwoo muttered, "Don't pull knives if you don't want to get hurt."
Behind him, Samuel had launched himself into the air, legs wide.
"Eat this!!"His flying kick connected, sending a Black Bear thug crashing into trash bins.
Samuel laughed, "I've been waiting all day for this!"
But just as he landed—THWACK!A fist caught his jaw. He stumbled, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth.
Jake grabbed the attacker, delivering two body shots and a clean right to the chin.
Jake shouted, "We can't drag this on! We'll get surrounded again!"
Brad and Jason were starting to slow, each bruised and panting, taking more hits than they gave.
Jerry threw a brick at someone's leg, buying Jake some time.
Jerry yelled, "I'm running out of bricks!!"
Suddenly—Hyunwoo stepped in front of them again.
He stood between his bruised friends and five more incoming Black Bear members. His fists were still up. His knuckles were raw.But his stance hadn't wavered.
Jake muttered, "He's still going... like a monster."
Samuel grinned, even while bleeding, "No... not a monster. That's our frontliner."
The five gangsters didn't wait.
They rushed.
Hyunwoo exhaled.Then moved.
WHAM! A spinning backfist caught the first one clean on the temple.THUD! He ducked under a swing and swept the second's leg out.CRACK! Headbutted the third and kneed the fourth in the gut before turning—And catching the fifth by the collar.
He stared the man down.
Hyunwoo said, "Tell your boss..."
He threw the man into the others like a bowling ball, knocking them all to the ground.
"...This is what happens when you pick a fight with us."
Silence fell.
The remaining Black Bear thugs began to back away, hesitating. Some looked toward Robert Choi for direction.
But even Robert...Even he looked a little surprised now.His calm was still there—but his smirk had faded.
Robert said, "...Huh."
He looked directly at Hyunwoo.
Robert said, "You're not just some punk from the Union, are you?"
Hyunwoo didn't answer.
Jake stepped forward, battered but standing proud.
Jake said, "You wanted to know who we were?"
He glanced at his team—his small, bruised, reckless team.
Then he smirked.
Jake said, "We're Big Deal."
Samuel coughed, "...Seriously? Again?"
Hyunwoo sighed, "...Unbelievable."
