The Boat

Kie and Y/N sat together for a while more. Kie was a closed up person, she didn't need piles of sympathy and hugs (although that was nice once in a while). She needed sound support and friends to lean on. She felt that John B had let her down... the sun was close to setting by the time they decided to walk home. As they were leaving Pope passed them on his way out, he said "meet us at the dock in town later. The boat will be there."Y/N was suspicious and Kie narrowed her eyes, but nodded. They began their walk home.

"Maybe it'll be a boat trip without Sarah." Y/N said.Kie chuckled softly "Yeah in our dreams. John B said it himself. He... loves that backstabbing kook." The words seemed to catch in her throat as she said them, Y/N decided to move on. "Hey!" Aiden jumped out from a bush nearby."Holy shit!" Y/N shouted, grabbing Aiden by the collar and raising her fist to punch him. Kie stopped her."Aiden..?" Kie whispered."Hey Kie..." he smiled awkwardly.Kie glared at him. "You're almost as bad as Sarah." She spat.Y/N looked taken back, then remembered she didn't know! "Oh no no, him and JJ are in the process of making up again!" She smiled."Yeah I'm actually on the way to his right now." He looked innocent, but lied straight through his teeth.Y/N furrowed her brow, "He's at John B's right now- might be for a while." "Oh that's a shame... mind if I walk back with you?" Kie still hadn't said anything."Yeah sure, Kie?" She looked to Kie. Aiden looked at her as well with his soft green eyes."But... your dad and Your girlfri-""It's all in the past." Scoffed Aiden with a sickly sweet smile.Kie nodded slowly... "is that true Y/N?" "Yeah... just, don't go shouting about it... we're trying to keep it low key until JJ is ready.""Yeah alright." She looked upon him with approval and Aiden fell into stride beside them as they continued walking home.

"I guess it makes sense. JJ is over that girl now anyway." Kie said."What do you mean?" Y/N tilted her head."Well he liked her didn't he? Oh shit he didn't tell you that did he.""I kinda guessed it" Aiden shrugged. "It makes sense, he was jealous I got super lucky. And she was beautiful, he took what he could.""Well he has a new obsession now." She nudged Y/N, "never seen him behave with a girl like he does with you." Y/N blushed, "yeah... he's told me he loves me."Kie went wide eyed and grinned, "about time."Aiden didn't say anything. He smiled still but his eyes became dark.They talked about things like the weather, the storms, Kooks vs Pogues, Even about Sarah for a bit. It wasn't long before the start of figure eight approached them."Here's were we separate." Kie said, "see you around Aiden."Y/N smiled and gave him a nod.

"Y/N..." he said in her ear. "Would you want to meet up for a chat like this again? I really love talking to you..." he said with hungry eyes."Yeah sure, JJ and I-""Just us." His smile faded.Y/N was a bit flustered, "Oh uh- really? I'm not sure how Jay will feel about that.""What he won't let you have friends?" He accused."No it's just- I mean... I guess we can see each other some time? Maybe at the Wreck for lunch?""Sounds great!" Aiden's dazzling smile flickered back onto his lips."Y/N?! Come on!" Kie called. The sun was close to setting and the boys were probably waiting for them."Coming!" Y/N ran off, without saying goodbye."But wait! We- need... a date and. And time." Aiden sighed as she ran out of earshot."You good?" Kie asked."Yeah. Yeah I'm good." Replied Y/N. She didn't want to talk about the darkness she saw swelling in Aiden's eyes. That was creepy.

The two of them walked down the wooden pier towards the boat."Code red!" Pope said in a mocking radio voice."What the hell? Where's JJ and John B?" Kie asked.Pope sighed, "they were meant to be here but conked out in the marsh in the Alp somewhere they need a tow.""Uh okay. Well what does that have to do with me?" Kie shrugged."We came to meet up like you said... we didn't agree to manual labor." Y/N jumped into the boat, followed by Kie."We need mechanical help." Pope replied awkwardly.Kie looked slightly annoyed, but they settled down in the boat none the less and felt the engine roar to life as it flew down towards the marsh.

They pulled up beside the Alp in the HMS Pogue. John B and JJ smiled and said hello."Can't you guys do anything without me?" Kie sighed. Looking at John B but not glaring.Y/N stood up and tossed the HMS's rope to JJ. She didn't notice when he didn't tie it on- to busy staring at his lack of shirt.They climbed aboard. Pope didn't follow. Y/N went into the cabin where John B was hunched down over an exposed bit of mechanisms. "What happened?" She asked.JJ appeared behind them, "Uh, the alternators.. not... alternating anymore." "Well how does it alternate?" Y/N asked, clueless."It's not charged." Sighed John B."Did you check the plugs?" Kie brushed her hair out of her face and sat down."...no. No, you should check em." Said JJ from the doorway.John B stood up and went to the doorway with JJ to give the girls more room.Y/N sat down with Kie and she started to look around.

"I don't trust this." Y/N told Kie."What do you mean?""JJ has that look I'm his eye.""I didn't see anything..." when she looked deeper into the mass of wires she couldn't see anything wrong," Uh... is this a joke?!" Kie called to the boys."Go go go." JJ said."Those bastards." Y/N stood up and went after him."Sayonara!" JJ shouted as he jumped into the water with John B."Get back here you shits!" Y/N shouted over at them."No can do baby girl!" He winked. "I'm under strict orders" he pointed at Pope."Sorry." Pope shrugged."I left you a blunt in the medical box!""Oh than-" she started off sarcastic. "No actually thanks!"

Kie ran out after them. Seeing the HMS far away from them with the three boys on it. Below deck, someone was banging on the floor. "John B! John B let me out!"Kie reached down and opened up the hatch. "This better not be who I think it is." She growled under her breath.Sarah started at Kie. "What.""What the hell?!" Kie shouted. "Guys?!" JJ laughed and John B chuckled "ah!"Sarah ran over to where Kie and Y/N were "Are you serious!" Sarah looked at Y/N, "Is this a joke." she glared."Get your asses back here!" Kie called."We can't!" John B replied. "Not until you three figure it out!""I am going to kill you!" Y/N huffed."Y-you can't just leave!" Sarah whined.Pope pointed to behind them "There's food in the cabin!""And JJ rolled a blunt which I will now look for." Y/N turned around and walked off.

"This is ridiculous." Sarah began taking off her shorts to show her expensive bikini. "I would rather drown that stay here with you." Kie sighed. "Fine be my guest. Maybe you'll finally shut the fuck up."Y/N walked over after failing in her drugs search. "Oh shut your entitled mouth princess no one cares.""Oh whatever you poser." She glared. Y/N looked like she would punch her and Sarah flinched into a ball. Y/N snorted and walked off."You don't even know where you're going Sarah!" Kie snapped."I don't care!" Sarah raised her voice, standing up. "She's going to kill me anyway!" And she looked at Y/N."Good luck with the oyster beds." Sighed Kie and Sarah went to jump off the boat. Before them, the HMS was starting up."Wait!" Sarah pleaded."Godspeed!" Pope announced as the boat took off."Wait!" She said again. "John B you asshole!" Kie shrugged and also pulled off her top and shorts. Followed by Y/N who tossed their clothes in a pile. The two of them sat down beside one another and lazed in the sun. They looked at each other. This wasn't going to be fun.

"They're not coming back for you!" Kie called at her."Love you guys! Bye!" Waved John B. JJ just whooped with laughter and Y/N vowed for revenge later. "Great..." Y/N pushed her hair back and watched Sarah flail about in the water. Kie was smiling at something in the waves... "three. Two. One.."She squealed loudly and started splashing around frantically.Kie tried not to smile "What?" "I got stung by a jellyfish! Shit!" She yelled.Y/N sniggered. Kie and her had been stung while surfing so many times they couldn't count it on two hands."Dramatic." Kie stated bluntly.Sarah swam to the ladder and pulled herself up. Showing a sting mark of her hip. She sobbed and went to touch it. "Shit!" She panted."Well you swam right into a man-o'-war." Kie said down at her."What did you expect." Y/N shrugged"Thanks for your help." Sarah spat at them and heaved herself onto the deck. "Ow." She gasped. "Shit... ow!" She sat herself down."Does it hurt?" Mocked Kie."Hmm I'm not sure. Maybe complain louder sarah?" Y/N snarled.Sarah shouted "Oh shut up!!" She went back to prodding her wound. Then she looked calmer... "you know what they say-""No." Kie already knew where this was going."About jellyfish stings..." Sarah looked at them expectantly. "You have to pee on me."Y/N made a face and Kie licked her lower teeth and looked away."I have a better idea." She nodded.Y/N's eyes lit up, "please find it."

So there they sat. Three girls. Two of them friends and one of them an enemy. Kie had found JJ's blunt where he said it was- in the medical kit. Not like Y/N would've remembered. They had managed to hoist Sarah up onto the captin's cabin and watch the sun turn the sky into a pretty pink."It's for the pain." Kie said as she twirled the blunt between her fingers."JJ... bless..." Sarah sighed. Y/N glared at her and she looked down.Y/N flicked her lighter at Kie and lit it in her mouth. Kie took four long puffs. She then handed it to Y/N who did the same. "He does a good roll my Jay..." she smiled. Y/N then handed it back to Kie who went to give it to the quivering Sarah. Her patience was running thin."Oh actually just-" Kie went to take one more puff but Sarah snatched it out of her hands. "Really?" And breathed in the smoke. "Go easy..." Y/N advised her. "It's JJ's cousin's cripple..." she smiled more thinking about the last time they got high.Sarah started coughing and spluttering.Kie and Y/N just sat there- waiting for her to stop. Kie nodded quickly, as if saying 'yeah. Yeah we did tell you that would happen.'

They smoked until the sun disappeared. The moon taking over its shift. They had climbed back onto the deck by then, Sarah laughed hazily and looked at the sky. Kie and Y/N lent on the side of the boat."Wow..." she breathed. "Hey guess what?" Sarah laughed again. "Would you rather... have~" she used her whole hand to brush the hair from her face, and gulped. "I was imagining you like this just now..." she slurred. "It was pretty funny.... would you rathr- would you rather... have nipples for eyes or eyes for nipples? Imagine if you get really old and you nipples- your boobs get saggy. And your nipples, if they were your eyes..." she looked at Kie and Y/N, who were staring into the distance- emotionless. Sarah laughed again "You could see... if your shoes were untied."Kie looked to the side and stared at her. Sarah saw she wasn't laughing and shook her head, making a face."Is this your first time doing anything substance wise?" Kie asked.Sarah looked upset and shook her head gently. "No."They sat in silence by the light of a lantern."Hey, guys?" Sarah broke the silence."Oh my god." Kie looked back at her. "Enough if they 'hey guys' bull shit.... why'd you do it?" Y/N looked at them both and sank back into the sides of the boat.Sarah didn't speak.... "why did I do what?""We were best friends. We- we stole beers from your dad's fridge. We watched countless movies together. We cried about boys. And the next thing I know, I'm watching your birthday party happen; from Instagram."Y/N winced but stayed silent."It was one party!" Sarah said back."You invited everybody except me." Kie snapped. Sarah looked close to tears. Kie continued, "then you told them all I was the reason that the party got busted.""Okay well. Who else would've called the cops?""You never asked. Just let the rumor go. That I was a rat. You were my best friend and then you ghosted me. And I don't even know why!" Kie started to raise her voice. "I mean really what did I do?!"Sarah stayed still for a moment. "You liked me.""What?""When... people get... close to me, I feel trapped... and... I bail. And then I blame them for it." Kie felt tears shove their way into her eyes and she looked away."I'm really sorry." She said.Y/N looked at her and nodded slowly, then out a hand on Kie's shoulder. Kie put her hand on Y/N's and stared forwards.Sarah took a deep breath, "and I miss you... I see you all having fun together and. And I wish I was there too." Kie looked at her and Sarah gulped, "do you think there's a chance we could be friends again?""Honestly..." kie said, "I don't know."Sarah nodded slowly and they all looked away. "Sarah." Y/N said.Sarah looked up at her. "Yes?""I um. For what it's worth... I'm sorry. For- being a bitch earlier."Sarah smiled weakly, "Hey it's okay. I'm sorry too." She whispered.

The temperature became colder and the girls pulled out pillows and blankets or jumpers to sleep under. Kie stayed awake and stared up into the sky. Sarah was asleep beside her and Y/N was on the other side, her mind was keeping her awake. Y/N slowly looked over at Sarah. "Hey Sarah."Sarah smiled, "hey Y/N.""Promise you won't bail on John B.""Please. Promise." Kie said. "He's not just. Some other guy. If you feel trapped this time and hurt him...""And..." sighed Y/N, "he really really likes you.""I won't." Sarah replied in the darkness."... promise." Y/N said softly."I promise." Sarah smiled- and expected the others to do so as well but they didn't.Y/N nudged Kie. "What's up?"She turned to Y/N and sighed. Not wanting to face Sarah. "I'm sorry I called the cops."Sarah couldn't help but giggle. "I knew it."They all laughed. "I knew it you bitch." Sarah laughed louder.The drugs in their systems were taking a firmer grip."You should've invited her." Y/N giggled, and they laughed harder."So Kiara called the cops!" She exclaimed, grinning."Yes!" Kie laughed.

(A/N: okay I admit. Didn't think that one thru enough. It was a real Kie Sarah bonding moment and Y/N was just kinda there... hope it wasn't TOO bad 😂Until next time!)
