PROLOGUE

"Lando, I have something to tell you," Samantha said, her voice shaking.

"What is it, babe?" Lando asked, concern evident in his eyes.

"I went to the doctor today, and I found out that I have ischemic heart disease. It's a life-threatening illness," Samantha said, tears welling up in her eyes. Lando's face fell, and he immediately pulled her into a hug. 

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" he asked, his voice filled with worry.

"I didn't want you to worry or feel sorry for me. I wanted to face it alone," Samantha replied, wiping her tears. Lando held her hand tightly and looked into her eyes. 

"We're in this together, Samantha. I won't leave you to face this alone," he said firmly.
