High by the beach- Lana del ray

It was now halfway through Fezco's birthday, and everything had gone smoothly. Fezco opened all his presents- and loved them- and they'd all made a plan to go to the woods and have a picnic.

It sounded corny, they knew that, but it was something small for Fez to make him comfortable and happy enough on his first proper birthday, and it was a nice thing to do with just the 5 of them.

Fez, Ashtray and Rue sat around the living room table as Lils and Lexi stood in the kitchen, packing a hamper basket full of food and the now decorated birthday cake Lexi had baked the day before.

"I'm so excited Lils, you don't get it! I've never seen Fezco so happy, he's like a child! It's his first proper birthday!" Lexi rambled happily, and as Lils looked over to the older girl, she could see the love in her eyes. It was adorable. Young love.

Lilith just smiled and shook her head while packing snacks into the hamper. Sausage rolls, chicken nuggets, chips, bags of candy, ketchup, the cake, sweets, and other foods.

Lexi walked to the fridge and pulled out a big bottle of Pepsi, a big bottle of lemonade, a few cans of beers and a couple of small bottles of Smirnoff before stuffing them into a backpack, knowing they wouldn't fit in the hamper.

"Lex," Lilith said softly, turning and leaning against the counter watching the brunette carefully. "Do you love Fezco?" She asked.

She watched the girl stiffen in her spot, before smiling and turning her head to look at the younger girl. A small nod was given, before Lexi looked back at what she was doing.

"I think you should tell him. I can tell he loves you too, and I think you'd be the most amazing couple yanno Lex." Lils said quietly, smiling to herself at the thought of the two finally making it official.

Lexi grinned at the thought of it, before snapping out of it when Ash walked into the kitchen, looking at them with an impatient look on his face.

"Yo, how long you gonna take ma? Everyone's gettin hungry n shit." Ash asked Lilith, walking over to her and leaning against the counter beside her.

"We're literally finished, we were just having a conversation." Lils giggled, closing the hamper and lifting it off the counter by its handles.

Ash admired lilith for a second. She looked pretty in her dress, with her hair in a loose French braid, small pieces of hair framing her face as her skin glowed, her makeup highlighting her features perfectly.

He snapped out of his trance-like state as Lexi giggled beside them, obviously finding the situation funny.

A slight blush dusted over ash's cheeks as lilith smirked at the boy, she found it way too cute that he was staring at her the way he was.

"Yo kids! Whatchu all doin in there?" Fez yelled through from the living room, making the three of them pick all the stuff up and walk through to rue and fez, grinning.

"Yep! Come on, let's go." Lilith said happily, everyone standing up already ready to leave, fezco getting his speaker and portable charger before they all left, locking the door behind them.

The 5 of them walked down the road to the nearby woods, finding a clear spot and setting down a few picnic blankets, along with the hamper full of food and Lexis bag with all the drinks. Rue had bought a bag with a soccer ball and a frisbee, just for something for all of them to do if they got bored.

"Yo lils, Lex, rue, ash my boy, thankyou for all this mannn, I don't know what to say bruh." Fez said as he slipped a blunt into his mouth and pulled a lighter out his pocket, lighting the blunt and taking a deep drag before holding it out to Ashtray, who was connecting his phone to fezco's speaker and started to play music.

They all sat around, unpacking all the food and drinks while telling stories of their memories of fez to Lilith, all of them crying with laughter.

"A-and then he was running down the r-road like b-blind fuckin drunk trying to find his way home, and he ran into a-a fuckin tree!" Ashtray cried, making everyone cackle. Lilith was curled up on her and ash's blanket, struggling to breathe through the harsh cackles and hiccups between them.

Lexi shoved a chicken nugget into her mouth while giggling, staring at fezco who was bright red with embarrassment.

"Yo what the fuck man." Fezco chuckled, before Lexi suddenly sat up straight, smiling at everyone as if to get their attention.

They all looked at her with curiosity, before she pulled the hamper towards her, cleared a space close to the front of fez, and carefully lifted out a tub.

Fez cocked a brow, watching intently as lexi took the lid off the tub, grabbed a big plate from the hamper and then lifted a large well decorated chocolate cake out of it, placing it on the plate in front of fez.

She reached in again, grabbed a pack of candles, a 2 and a 1 candle as well, and then held her hand out to fezco as if she wanted something.

It almost instantly clicked in his brain, as he pulled his lighter out of his pocket and put it in her hand.

"To this shit cute as fuck." Ash whispered to Lilith as they watched the couple-but-not-yet-couple in awe.

"I know! I'd kill for something like that." She giggled, smiling at him before turning back to keep watching.

By the time she turned around, the candles were on the cake and Lexi was lighting them one by one.

Suddenly rue started singing happy birthday, everyone else quickly catching on as they all sang along happily, but very out of tune.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to fezcoooooo, happy birthday to you!" They were all grinning as he blew out the candles.

"Make a wish." Lexi whispered in his ear, they all fell silent for a few seconds, and then he looked up and smiled.

"Let's eat some fuckin cake, man." He said, Lexi handing everyone a small plate and laying some forks out in case they wanted one.

She handed fezco a knife, smiling sweetly. "C'mon, do the honours, birthday boy." She giggled, as he took the knife, removed all the candles and cut into the cake.

Everyone clapped happily, cheering before getting their own slices and sitting back on the blankets.

Ash was laying on his side across his and Lilith's blanket, propped up on one elbow as he ate his cake. He stopped for a second as Lilith shuffled over, leaning against his torso as she ate her cake too, cuddling into him slightly.

"Yo, Jules said she's on her way if that's cool with you guys." Rue said, making everyone nod and smile.

"Yeah thas chill man, jewel is fuckin cool." Fez mumbled with a mouthful of cake, making Lexi giggle and shake her head.

Ash and Lilith had finished eating and suddenly Lilith stood up, holding her hand out to ash. "C'mon, we're gonna go fuck about with that soccer ball." Lilith smiled down at the boy.

He sighed and took her hand, standing up before grabbing the ball from rues bag, rue also standing up to mess around with them.

They walked slightly far from the picnic area, not too far that they were out of sight but not too close that they'd kick the ball at someone's head or some shit like that, since that was bound to happen with ash there.

The three of them ran around happily, kicking the ball at each other and taking shots to get the ball between two trees, which they'd labelled "the goal."

Lilith was now in turn to take her shot. She pepped herself up as she looked at the ball, then the goal, then ash who was stood in the goal, anticipating her every move.

Cmon lils. You got this shit! She told herself before running at the ball, going to kick it, and missing, flying in the air and landing on her back.

She wasn't even in pain, she was instead laying there laughing as ash ran to her.

"You fucking idiot!" Ash screamed through his laughter. Rue was too deep into the hysterics to even move or say anything. Ash stared down at the girl, both of them laughing hysterically as he held out her hand to help her up.

She grabbed his hand, him pulling her up before they were suddenly so close that they could feel their breaths on each other's face. Ash's eyes flickered between her eyes, to her lips, back up to her eyes, back down to her lips, and so on, as did hers, before she suddenly snapped out of her small trance when they heard Jules's voice in the distance.

"Yo fuckers!!" She shouted, rue running over to jump on her happily. Lilith looked back up to ash before smiling, leaning up, and pressing a small peck to the tip of his nose.

He scrunched his nose and giggled, looking down at her in confusion. "The fuck was that, ma? You goin soft on me or what?" He chuckled, making her roll her eyes and step away from him.

"Check my dress please, brush off any twigs or whatever." She said, turning around so he was facing her back. He brushed and picked off any small bits of dirt, leaves and twigs before stepping back, inspecting one final time and humming softly. "All good, shawty." He said before pressing a soft peck to her shoulder and walking back to the blankets in hand with her.

"So," jules said as she pulled the alcohol out of Lexi's bag, handing cups to everyone. "How's your day been, Fezco? The big 2-1." She giggled, spacing apart the numbers as he grinned back at her.

"Fuckin amazing man, everyone's made this shit fun you know?" He muttered in his usual fez-like tone, handing one of the bottles of Smirnoff to Ash and Lilith.

Lilith took it, pouring it halfway in her cup and handing the bottle to ash, who looked slightly displeased by her alcohol intake. Lilith reached over, grabbing the big bottle of Pepsi and pouring it so the drink was now up to the top.

It was now sunset, around 9pm, as everyone sat around, some talking, some quiet. Lilith was tipsy, almost drunk, cuddling into ash's side as they laid on their blanket, staring up at the sky while passing a blunt between themselves.

"Anyway, on some real shit, you're attractive as fuck you know?" Lilith said, taking a long drag of the blunt before passing it back to ash.

She felt him chuckle a bit, tracing shapes in her arm as he took a drag himself. "You're beautiful ma, really." He said quietly, looking down at the girl and smiling.

She looked up at him, smiling back as she cuddled into him more. "Shit, have I actually made THE ashtray go soft?" She giggled, making him furrow his brows and shake his head.

"Fuck no, shawty. We need to stop smoking together, gettin all soft n shit when we do." He chuckled, handing her the last of the blunt before she flicked it away and sat up.

"We should get goin back soon man, gettin cold n shit out here now." Fez said, making everyone nod and start packing away.

As they all made their way back to the house as safely as possible in their collective drunkenness, Lilith realised that she finally felt at home. Comfortable. Like she had a good family, and a good group of friends she could rely on. As she looked at ash, who was walking hand in hand with her beside her, she felt butterflies pool inside her, and then she realised.

It was no doubt, she had feelings for Ashtray.

Authors note: I know I made this chapter sort of about fez and Lexi more than ash and lils but like. I love fez and Lexi. So like. Deal with it bro. Anyway 🤭
