I Didn't Expect It

Rose POV

"Uggh!" I groaned, rolling on my back. Who is calling me so early in the morning? I yawned and picked up the phone, "Hello. Rose speaking."

"WAKE UP SLEEPYHEAD!"

Oh God Lucy!

I had to put my phone away from my ear with a cringe. "I don't like hearing your voice in the morning dipshit." I grumbled, muffling a yawn.

"Don't forget what we planned today. " She yelled again, too excitedly."What did I plan? Your funeral? " I asked groggily.

"Shut up! Today is Sunday. Sunday means funday. Funday means movies! " She sang loudly making me groan loudly. "Shut up gurl...I will meet you at bus stop after an hour." I mumbled, ready to fall asleep again.

"Ok but don't you dare to sleep again. Don't be late. Bye. " Lucy threatened and hung the phone.

God this girl!!

"Why can't I sleep in peace!? It's Sunday for heaven's sake!" I shrieked, hitting the pillow. With throwing some useless curses on my luck I got up, washed my face , bathed and shimmered into my illusion form. I have a long day today.

"Poor girl!" Lucy wailed in cab and I rolled my eyes. She had selected some stupid tragic film and now she is wailing as usual. "The boy is such a dickhead. How can he leave her? " She sniffled, blowing her nose so loud that even the driver cringed.

"Oh come on sis! Stop sobbing. Who told you to watch that movie?" I said, eating my cotton candy. "Shut up! You don't know what it's like to be loved and then betrayed. Have you ever loved someone?" She snapped.

I huffed, rolling my eyes. Love? What's that stuff?

"I am never gonna fall in love Lucy. Love is weakness. It's waste of emotions. The start of your downfall. It's always tragic." I finished my short speech and clapped appreciating myself. Lucy frowned.

"Dear, you are saying this because you haven't got anyone capable for you. Give time, some time. Time has it's own way to prove everyone wrong or right. " She said smiling sadly while I grunted.

Seriously? Is this even a topic to discuss?

"Ma'am, your stoppage." The cab driver caught our attention. "Yes, thank you. Here." I paid him and we headed to Aunt's home. "Come fast. Pudding is waiting to be eaten by me." I squealed and dragged Lucy who was struggling to keep up with my steps. We barged in and yelled "We are home." But the view in front of us was the least we had ever expected.

"Hii kid! "

"Mr.Stark!!! "

"Mr.Stark!!! "

I gawked at the man in expensive suit and sunglasses, looking so out of the place in aunt's humble abode. And is that my portion of pudding he's eating?

Wait a second. The main question is what is he doing here?!

"I-I didn't expect you to be here hehe.." I laughed nervously, my eyes darting between aunt and him.

Wait... Why is aunt avoiding my eyes?

"I paid in a surprise visit kid. I needed to talk to-What happened to your friend? Is she all right?" He asked me.

I looked at Lucy to find her gaping. I smacked her head upside down and she came back to her senses. "She is a bit crazy. Don't mind her. You were saying something... " I prompted, avoiding the glare from Lucy.

He started. "Yes. I wanted to talk to your Aunt about your joining in Avengers and," He raised his hand to stop me from speaking, "And she agreed. "

"What!??! " I and Lucy both asked in unison. "Rose! Avengers? Belle, pray tell me, was there any weed in my cotton candy?" Lucy swooned dramatically in her spot.

"Shut up, Lucy" I snapped and turned my attention to Aunt. She had a lost look on her face and it broke my heart. "Aunt, how could you have agreed?" I asked her, heart hammering.

I should have known that it won't end in the Tower that day. Stupid me!

She shook her head, her wrinkled face scrunching up. "Why did you lie dear? You could have said me the truth." She sounded so betrayed. Aunt was never disappointed but she was now.

And it was enough to make my tough exterior crack. "Aunt aunt, trust me I never wanted to lie but I was - I was afraid. Afraid that something bad will happen to you and Lucy." I fell on my knees and clasped her hands in mine.

She was the first mother like figure I was gifted by God after so many years. I can't manage to lose her.

"I love you Aunt. You are the first one I loved and I never wanted to lose you. Believe me aunt. I had no wrong intentions. I am sorry -so so sorry!" I was not even aware that I was crying until she wiped my tears away. I buried my head in her lap, trying to hide my tear streaked face from Mr. Stark.

"Sshh! Child. " She whispered and I lifted my head. She wiped my tears and cupped my face. "It's not your fault dear. Don't cry. I guess I was little sad to let you go. And I love you too. Never doubt that. You are and always will be like a daughter to me." She smiled and kissed my forehead.

Lucy was sniffing too and in between awwing loudly. "And whenever you feel like coming to me, the doors are always open for you." She then faced Mr. Stark. "I want my child to be safe and well taken cared. If not, you'll face my wrath boy. Is that clear, young man?"

I couldn't see his face but I bet he looked stumped. "Ye-yes yes! Sure!"

I chuckled softly. "I will miss you Aunt." "Me too child, me too. " She whispered, caressing my head with that motherly love and affection that I never received before.

If my mum was alive, would she have loved me like Aunt?

I got ready to leave for Avengers Tower. I had all the mixed feelings hurling inside me. I was happy, sad, excited, nervous and worried.

Aunt was still lecturing Mr. Stark about my habits and favorites and was making him note them down on some page.

Lucy was sniffling and blowing her tiny nose. God! I am gonna miss her stupidity. The departing time came and aunt hugged me tightly.

Lucy hugged me and sobbed and sweared at me a few times while others laughed. We bid each other goodbye and I followed to Mr. Stark, to his expensive car.

Damn! The car looked so sexy!!

"Ready Munchkin? " He smirked. I chuckled at the nickname. "Ready."
