A Cold Day In Hell

02:51, 21 September 2020

{White's POV}

"No... she can't be! Bring her in! BRING HER IN!!" I cried, and I felt my heart sink, falling to the ground, hands on the floor, punching it. "I'm afraid it would be impossible to bring her back, White. We were wrong, it's just a simple mistake." Purple said coldly.

"We were wrong? You killed her, she wasn't the impostor, why did you decide on this?" Pink spoke up, her face furious under the helmet. Purple puts down the tablet, "It was only logical that since the alien symbiote can survive without oxygen, if we put it in space and fly away, it would simply only die of starvation- and the rest of us would be safe." His tone was very cold- the coldest I've ever seen Purple, it's like he had no emotion left in his soul.

I couldn't stop sobbing, I knew it couldn't be her, she would never kill Lime, she was a kind-hearted person, and seemed to be Purple and Black's friend, but... Purple doesn't seem to care a bit! I glance over at Black with wet eyes, he looked very calm. I look over at everyone else, they looked uncomfortable, probably both with the silence and the fact that we killed our own crewmate. "We'll get them next time, White." Purple leaned down to me, holding out a hand. I couldn't take the hand.

I got up, running away to my room, and everyone let me, it seems like nobody cared. "Why..." I kept sobbing, holding my head, and after several minutes, my door opens.

I flinch, peering over at the door, it was just Red, I couldn't help myself but run up and hug him, "Oh, Red. What are we going to do? What if we all die?" My tears didn't stop, but then Red patted my back, and it made me feel safer. The thought of Brown struggling stayed in my head. First, Cyan, then Lime, now Brown. How many of us will die?

"You need some nutrients for your body. Come on, it'll be fine." He reassured, holding my hand to lead me out of the room slowly. I nod quietly, happy that at least Red understood.

We sat down in the cafeteria, Red brought me a small meal, some bread and mash potatoes, I noticed he didn't have anything for himself. "Are you.. going to eat?" I asked, and he got closer, taking off my helmet, "I'm not hungry right now. You should eat." My face was still red and wet, and Red wiped a tear from my face. I look down at the food, slowly eating the mash potatoes, it tasted fine. I guess I was a little hungry. Brown... She was one of us, we could've done something else, I'm sure. Red pats me on the back again, and I knew it had to mean something. Maybe I should see it Purple's way, we have an Impostor on the loose, and they were the one that killed Cyan, Brown, and Lime. I couldn't see how Purple wasn't upset, though, someone had to be.

Orange passed by, sitting on the other side of me, "Hey, White, are you okay? He asked, patting my shoulder. I felt Red's hand shift closer to the other shoulder, as if to shoo Orange's hand away. That seemed a little odd, but I shrugged it off. "I'm feeling better, what.. about you? You rarely ever talk to me." I tilt my head, yet it felt comforting that someone else wanted to check up on me. "A little shaken up, but I'll be fine. You seemed very distraught, however." Yellow comes to sit down, holding Orange's other hand. "So, I was wondering.." She started.

"What were you two doing last night?" She asked, and I blushed red, and Red growled at them, "Why do you ask?" He hugs me close, and I felt my face grow hotter. "Woah, calm down, I was just asking." She leans over to Orange, and whispers to him, and he chuckles. "What are you guys tal-talking about?" I stuttered.

Yellow giggles, "Well, it's a little strange you guys were alone late at night.." She purred, and I squeaked, "What? We're roommates! We were just stargazing!" Red held onto me tighter, "Shouldn't there be better things to worry about?" Orange paused, and then nodded, "That's true, well we were just checking up on you guys. See ya." Orange waves, getting up from the table, and Yellow follows soon after.

We eventually got through the quiet day, not a lot of chatter, and we set up a memorial by the window for Cyan, Lime, and Brown. It was the least we could do. We wished they were still around. If only we'd never gone on this mission, at least we would have been safer. Nobody dead. We had to, though.

I stared at Brown's photo.

Red patted my shoulder, "She's in a better place, White." I felt numb all over, and turned to Red. All I could think of that I needed was to be in his embrace. So I hugged him tightly, trembling in the moment.

"I swear on it- I won't let anyone hurt you." He said.
